Visiting The Governor Olive Mill was one of our favorite activities in Corfu. Learning about the island’s history and the process of making olive oil was fascinating. We tasted some of the best olive oil we’ve ever had, and our guide made the experience truly unforgettable. We highly recommend this tour. At the end, we purchased some skincare products—they smell wonderful. We’re so glad we booked the visit, and Mitera, the “mother of the olives,” was truly impressive.
Excellent tour that we thoroughly enjoyed. We learned about the distinctive variety of Corfiot olive trees and the grafting process. We discussed the health benefits of olive oils high in polyphenols and how to spot fake or adulterated olive oils. We had a tasting of the olive oils and tried them with feta, tomatoes and capers and with yoghurt. We then visited a 1500 year old tree and a Byzantine fort. Guides were excellent and it was an excellent introduction to high quality olive oil.
We had a wonderful experience at the Olive Museum! The staff were very kind and welcoming, and they let us taste different olive oils. Everything was delicious and well explained. It’s also great that you can have their products shipped to your country — perfect if you don’t have a big suitcase with you. Highly recommended!
Salvador collected my wife and I from the hotel and took us to the working olive museum. It was very informative tour . Very friendly. Had coffee on arrival. Sampled two types of olive oil with bread and also cheese and salad. Learnt about the acidity and different uses of olive oil. We were then driven to see a 1500 year old olive tree(mother tree) where Salvador carried on the tour. He was Very friendly and passionate about the olive history. We then drove to a nearby castle which was also interesting to learn about.we bought a few gifts there but due to a power cut,due to a storm the night before, we had to use cash. Well worth a visit
Adriana made this tour unmatched. She was simply amazing. She welcomed us warmly with either water or coffee and small snack. After everyone arrived we started the tour. She was interactive, funny and informative. The tour on its own was very nice. And the tasting experience was tastefull. I loved it.
My boyfriend suggested this experience because it was raining and I admit I was a bit sad because I wanted to go the beach…I’m glad we had a rainy day in our trip - I LOVE THE TOUR AND THE TASTING 😍😍😍 Andriana was AMAZING! She is very very very nice and friendly, explained everything well and in a funny and catchy way! I was a bit apprehensive of tasting olive oil but I truly enjoyed it! Moreover, the snacks were very nice! This week, in my hometown, I tried chocolate mousse with a pump of olive up, as Andriana suggested us and what a good advice! Besides that, I want to do a home tasting for family 🤣 I truly recommend this tour & tasting experience with “The Governor”
We had a wonderful experience at The Govenor’s Olive Mill. We were made to feel very welcome by all the family, lovely people. The tour was conducted by Irini, she made it really informative and enjoyable and it was one of the finest tours we have ever experienced. But the icing on the cake was we were invited to stay-on for an extra 30 minutes to sample the Olive Oil freshly-pressed from the mill as we watched, and it was delicious! We cannot recommend a visit to Govenor’s highly enough, it was a real highlight of our visit to Corfu.
A very interesting visit on olive oil in Corfu and the basics of extra virgin olive oil The historical dimension provides valuable insights. The guides are professional and engaging Strongly recommend. It is worth your time and money. Go for the 3 hour tour. Also a great opportunity to visit this beautiful part of the island The governor’s olive oil is exquisite

Nice beach, easy to get to, big and free parking lot. Also got a nice restaurant up top. When u get down to the beach, dont stay in the crowded area with umbrellas, its full of shouting children :) keep going to the right and you will come to the second, much nicer and mostly empty part of the beach. Definitely worth a visit!
Small but very nice, sandy beach and cristal water, small waves making posibile snorkeling. There are two showers on the beach and a taverna on the hill (closed on Tuesday) - this was my favorite beach on the western side of Corfu.
Visited there today. If you want a quiet beach with an excellent restaurant (with lots of vegetarian options, in particular vegetarian moussaka!) this is a great choice. Only drawbacks are that there's one small changing room and in the middle of the day, we got lucky in finding a spot. Also the only bathroom (which was clean) is in the taverna up top. Hence the reason for four stars and not five. To rent a fixed umbrella and cot, just wait there and a staff member will come up to you (10 Euro for an umbrella and two cots). Also, approach from the south. From the north, the road is in awful shape. Be forewarned when navigating in Google maps since it doesn't know the conditions of the roads.
Nice wet sand beach with a view towards sunset.
Nice, but very small beach, wet sand. Good place for eating nearby. Nice sunset.
Free parking nice restaurant the sandy beach it is safe for kids with showers and umbrellas
Calm, small and quiet sandy beach. Great for families or for relaxing as it is much calmer than other larger beaches. You pay 6 euro for 2 sunbeds and 1 umbrella - most are in OK shape. Bring snacks and drinks or buy them from the tavernas just by a short stair climb. Avra Oceanos tavern has free parking so if you come by car you can leave it there. There is some accomodation nearby that you can choose from, so you can walk in 2-3 min max. Please note this beach only has tavernas and no store nearby - closest one is at least 4-5 km away. Water at the end of august 2019 was a little cold (but not too cold) and very very clear, but it would usually get warmer by late afternoon and get quite nice by evening.
Good quiet beach with fine sand and some pebbles. The price for an umbrella and two sunbeds is really 6 euro, very affordable. It's easy to get there as the road has been recently renovated. One drawback though - it has very limited to NONE AT ALL cellular reception, so teenagers won't be able to use their phones. Definitely an electronic detox beach

Ruins of a hilltop castle dating from the 13th century, with 8 towers along its stone perimeter.
Slide 1 of 8
This castle was most likely built in the 11th century to shelter the populace and the produce of the agriculturally rich surrounding countryside from the increasingly alarming conditions of this region. The Ionian, though always troubled, was never as much a death zone as the Aegean, where the Saracen piratical raids brought havoc upon the seaside settlements since the 7th century. This changed as the Saracens gained a foothold on Sicily. Things became even worse when these were succeeded by the Normans. The Eastern Roman Empire responded with the construction of effective fortifications such as Angelokastro and Gardiki. The former was more of a lookout, while Gardiki must have served more as a hideout. Shielded from unfriendly eyes and within a safe distance inland, people, wealth, and produce could be mustered here in time to be kept out of reach of seafaring invaders. If the latter chose to invade this position in force, they would have to leave their fleet dangerously exposed to attacks from other garissons upon the island, and then being surrounded as well, thus risking total annihilation. Therefore, this fortification is much more valuable than it initially implies. Furthermore, it is one of the most well preserved characteristically Byzantine constructions that survives in western Greece. Most others, especially the coastal ones, were later adjusted and modified so extensively that it is quite difficult -sometimes impossible- to discern the Byzantine features underlying beneath the overstructures (i.e. in Corfu). So when you see it, look at it for what -and when- it represents. After all, it was built about 5 centuries (perhaps even more) earlier than the massive fortifications you see in Corfu.
It's definitely an interesting place to visit, if you have some knowledge of history or a well developed imagination. The place deserves 5 stars, but because they of the lack of proper information on site you're left with searching for information online. It would be so great to read more about the history, architecture, and for what specific purpose the fort was built. There is a big sign stating some connection to an EU fund, however it is hard to find what the money was used for. 🤷
Remains of a 13th century castle nestling deep in the Corfiot countryside. Free entry. Not a huge amount of information about it at the site, but still worth a visit. I'm not prone to flights of fancy, but I felt there was something very positive and calming about the place!
Natural ruins. Liked this place, good spot for an hour meditation. Looks like not very touristic, as only local community takes care of it (at keast we were tokd so). If you climb on the wall it is possible to walk on about half of the perimeter. Very good acoustics here, so some musical events happen. Gardariki has interesting word root, referring to vikings (Gardarika - capital fort in the East), and to indo-europeans, Balts, - Gardinas, gardas - meaning high walled fortress.
Nothing special, some ruins of walls around. It would be good to have more signs sharing details if its history on spot. Otherwise when you are among those walls, you can breathe in history.
Unfortunately no information at all on site and it's gradually falling into further disrepair. However entry is free and it's nice for a stroll around a park if you're in the neighborhood.
Could be a beautiful site, unfortunately it is not entirely excavated and doesn't seem to be developing yet still a nice walk around to feel the scale of a byzantian fort.
If you like history this is up your street, a castle you can walk around not alot left but worth a visit. Free to all.

We visited on a Tuesday in early April, definitely pre-tourist season for the island. We booked the evening before and everything was fine. We were the only people on our tour, but a few couples came after us for their own tours. It felt quiet and private which was lovely. On arrival we were met by a really enthusiastic welcome, and shown around the museum, which was a room containing old wine and vineyard equipment. We asked questions and our guide gave us a thorough explanation of the processes and how they changed - as well as what has remained the same over almost 200 years. Following the museum, we visited the cellar, saw some current machinery and spoke about modern wine making. We also watched a video about olive oil making onsite. Finally, we had a light snack outside, which included bread, feta, meat, tomatoes, and olives in olive oil. We both had two glasses of white wine. There is the option to add a glass of rosé or red (which they make in much smaller quantities) for about €5 extra. We had no idea that Theotoky Wine was mentioned in James Bond's No Time To Die!! Overall, it was a great 2hrs well spent. Our host was exceptional, friendly, and helpful. Worth a visit!
This estate was one of our tour stops. We tried the white wine, red wine, and their rose. 🍷 We also tried their olive oil, feta cheese, and tomatoes with olives. 🫒 Oh my goodness, it was phenomenal! I have never tasted such good olives and feta cheese. I’m glad we were able to tour this place. Got to see the process of how olives get converted into olive oil, and the grapes into wine. Thank you! 😊
Absolutely loved this place. We did the tour + tasting and the woman showing us around was so friendly and nice. Wines and food was delicious and the place is gorgeous. Enjoyed the view and different animals like Salami the cat who payed us a visit during our stay.
What a brilliant place this was! Took the tour with snacks and it was superb! Very interesting to find out the history of the vineyard and the wine and olive oil making process. Our guide was fantastic and so knowledgeable. Afterwards, we sampled two of the white wines and a drizzle of olive oil with a selection of locally baked bread, some beautiful salami and feta and some tomato and olive salad. Be sure to say hi to their pet cat, Salami. He is always very vocal when the food comes out!
Theotoky Estate is a peaceful, scenic winery in the heart of Corfu, known for its excellent organic wines. We took a short tour that included a tasting of two wines, local olive oil, and traditional snacks — all delicious. The lady who led the tour shared interesting facts about the estate and its winemaking traditions, making the visit even more engaging. Their white and red wines are outstanding and truly enhanced our stay on Corfu. Friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere make it a great stop away from the tourist crowds.
I had a great experience visiting the Theotoky Estate. The tour was both informative and enjoyable—I learned a lot about their winemaking process, from the vineyards to the cellar. The highlight was getting to try their organic wine, which was excellent. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.
We booked “tour & wine tasting with light snacks”. The tasting includes two white wine and if you want to taste the rose and red ones than you have to pay 5 euros per each. That is a little bit disappointing. But the staff is very lovely and it was a pleasure to talk with them.
We really enjoyed our visit here. We hadn't booked and we were just passing. We had a delicious range of snacks, olive oil tasting and some glasses of rose, followed by a tour of the facility. The Winery was in a beautiful location and I highly recommend this for something different 👌
