Simply a splendid spot! This beautiful, grand monument offers magnificent views over the Danube river from the high above. There is a cark park 5min walking distance away (€2.5 per car) and public toilets free of charge next to the monument. Walhalla itself is free to admire outside and it costs around €5 to enter inside. This is a perfect place to spend an entire day just sitting, admiring and relaxing, if weather permits. I loved it 🤩
A great monument well worth visiting. The views are stunning, and the best part is that it's accessible for people with reduced mobility or families with strollers. A must-see if you're in Regensburg.
Impressive monument inside and out. The walk from the car park is around 20 minutes with some small slopes but it is worth it. The view from the top is amazing and the temple is impressive too. Doesn’t feel like Germany. I visited inside for a small fee I think around 7 euros. To be honest it isn’t worth it if you’re not that much into architecture. It’s just a one big room that you can see from outside. There’s not informations inside too which was a bit disappointing. But it is worth paying if you want to take your time and see more details. It’s a very impressive place!
We were in the area and had a friend tagging along this travel trip. We decided to visit Wallhalla and let him see this wonderful building, the inside and the outside. He was a little mobility challenged, and did not take the steps. There is a pathway around, and although its a longer walk, the slope is a gradual upward walk. It was misting and thus we did NOT walk down any of the steps because of the risk of slipping. I have been on a dry day and feel much safer descending down the step when they are dry. I cannot stress enough to be safe and go slow as any misstep could result in serious injury. Please follow all noted safety precautions too. I've attached some pictures of this visit. Note, walking around is free. Parking cost approx. $2.5 euros.
A very imposing monument that is well worth a visit. The view from it's location is breathtaking and worth it just for that. The architecture is also awesome and gives you an appreciation for the awe Greek temples must have inspired in they heyday.
A very powerful place! Perfect spot for photos, with a stunning view of the Danube. There’s parking and a nice café nearby.
We have driven past by this building/ hill on the motorway so this year we decided to check it out. About 15 minutes drive from the No3 motorway. Nice little curly road running up to the hill, to the car park behind. From the car park another about 10 minutes very comfortable walk needed to reach out to this magnificent building. If you have ever been to Athens (Greece) your brain probably gets confused for a second! The whole monument was magnificent, really great, with superb views over the German countryside and of course the river Danube! I’m glad we stopped as it was a very unique experience! It is suitable for wheelchair users (with some support). On the hilltop there’s a little bar and of course restrooms, too.
Short walk from the car park, only a couple kilometers from the main road. Very nice view, worth seeing on your way in our out of Regensburg. Admission to the museum inside costs €5.

There are so many castle ruins in Germany. I wouldn’t make a special stop for this one. However, if you are in the Regensberg area anyway, this makes for a lovely one or two hours. Beautiful views. Not busy at all. Just a relaxing place to sit and or explore.
The Donaustauf Castle Ruins (Burgruine Donaustauf) are a hidden gem that offer both history and incredible views. Sitting on a hilltop just above the town of Donaustauf, these medieval ruins date back to the 10th century and give visitors a real sense of stepping back in time. Exploring the old stone walls, towers, and pathways feels like discovering a forgotten world. While much of the castle is in ruins, enough remains to imagine what life might have been like centuries ago. One of the best parts is the stunning panoramic view over the Danube River and the surrounding countryside—it’s especially beautiful at sunset. The site is free to visit and easy to reach with a short uphill walk from town. It doesn’t take long to explore—maybe 30 minutes to an hour—but it’s a perfect spot to relax, take in the scenery, and enjoy a bit of quiet history. For anyone visiting Donaustauf or nearby Regensburg, the castle ruins are a great stop. They’re simple but full of charm, and the views alone make it worth the visit.
Easy walk to ruins. Amazing views!
Built circa ad. 500, and destroyed 1649 during the 30 year war, the remains are truly amazing to see. To imagine how this was built on the top of a cliff, with so many rocks and mortar in a time with no machinery is very impressive. The views of the surrounding villages and city in the distance are postcard worthy.
I wasn’t prepared for how beautiful this place would be. The pictures don’t do it justice. I’ll add my own but am left with the same problem. There’s a meandering network of paths from the outer wall to the inner area. If you read the signs you’ll find that they attempted to strike a balance between leaving the ruins in tact and leaving the nature in tact and they did this really well. Historically, this was a Celtic castle, and later a medieval fortress. It was destroyed and built up multiple times. Well worth a visit.
It's such a cool place to walk around. There is good parking and a really nice cobblestone road leading into the area. Informational signs are posted around telling the history of the castle and surrounding area. I especially enjoyed the drawing of what the castle looked like in its heyday. The view from the top is spectacular. You can see for miles around on a clear day and the confluence of the Danube and the Regan. There is also a great view of the Wallhalla and nearby church. This would probably be accessible to a wheelchair or stroller if you stick to the main paths but does get quite muddy after a rain. Overall, would totally recommend.
I visited this place on a saturday in mid of may for sunset along with my friends. There is a small hike that we need to do to reach this place. The hike is easy as the paths are residential roads and a few steps when nearing the ruins. There is a grave yard on to the right at the entrance of the ruins. After reaching the top of the ruins, we spent few hours before we leave. The view was wonderful. We got to see the cathedral of Regensberg as a tiny structure, river, bridge, and a beautiful sunset. The buses to go back to Regensberg was just once an hour and that too till 9 pm. So take care of the time you spend on top. I am adding few photos as well🙂
This place was absolutely a joy to visit. Not super crowded, even around sunset time. The walk was incredibly nice and scenic. If you're in the area, definitely worth a visit. You can also see the Walhalla from here. Honestly, a better view than there as well.

It's a beauty and a pity (though understandable when communal purse strings are tight) that it's been locked to the public except on few days in late summer.
Definitely worth seeing if in the area.
Nice place, but not much to do there. It's part of a bigger park with children's playground. The surrounding area is a great spot for photography especially in the golden hour in the evening.
Really nice tower and soroundings
(Translated by Google) A very pretty tower in the middle of a very small park. Unfortunately, it was closed that day, and we couldn't visit the inside. It's recommended as a tourist attraction. While it's very beautiful to look at now, it's only worth it if you're in the area to see something else.
(Translated by Google) Very pretty to look at. But I expected a bit more 😊😉 (Original) Sehr hübsch anzuschauen. Jedoch etwas mehr erwartet 😊😉
(Translated by Google) Great Chinese tower. Unfortunately we are not open either. I added a picture with the opening times. (Original) Toller chinesischer Turm. Leider auch bei uns nicht geöffnet. Ich habe ein Bild mit den Öffnungszeiten hinzugefügt.

What an unexpected landmark here in Germany. Definitely worth the visit.
Great historical monument, nice view on mighty Danube and pleasant in nature atmosphere. Definitelly a must visit if you are close by.
Good place to watch sunset and evening walk.
Valhalla, hope I'll go there once I finish my mission here on Earth
Amazing place to see during the day. I also go in the clear nights and enjoy the view.
amazing monument! worth visiting for sure!
Amazing and calm place to spend an evening or watch sunset
A stunning building, well worth a visit.
