It's been many, many years since last visiting Amberley Museum and it was great to return. Plenty to do and see with great bygone years attractions to see and interact with for adults and children alike. Hot and cold food and drink are available at the cafe but also plenty of picnic areas for you to eat your own food on a nice day. If you're feeling fit there is a nature path to a view point overlooking the museum via steps, with the climb. Great day out.
What a wonderful place! Lots to see and do. Be prepared to spend so.e time wondering around all the different museums, each dedicated to a specific technology and its development through time. Well worth it. We will go again.
Top day out. Easy to get to from Amberley railway station. The exhibits are hugely varied and the nature walks are very pretty. The electricity barn was the most interesting. Lots of volunteers and crafts people around to explain the exhibits. The ride on the train is short but fun. The main cafe was a bit tired inside and could have had more cake choices on offer, but friendly service nonetheless.
We had a lovely day here for their recent steampunk event, there’s so much to see we don’t have time for it all and lots of interactive features set in a beautiful location. They have an onsite cafe with a great menu for all dietary needs.
A good amount of the site and exhibits are wheelchair accessible. Lots of interesting information to read at leisure while the younger visitors explore. Great for a family visit with grandparents and fairly priced .
An amazing working museum suitable for all ages. Lots of fascinating artefacts and pieces of history, with knowledgeable volunteers happy to help. A great day out with lots of different sections to visit. Unfortunately when we attended a few of of the workshops were closed but there was still more than enough to see. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a day out to visit Amberley! Please note the car park is FREE when you register in the museum, don’t get caught out!!!
An amazing place, the staff were extremely nice. Expecially the staff in the printing Workshop and the printing were top quality and cheap. The old trains and the buses are a must to go on whilst there. And the food at the limeburners cafe was delicious. However, there is so many options for improvement to make the place better. Now I'm not saying its bad, its a great place and I would highly recommend it. Yet they could have an oldern style sweet shop where the people can watch them make the sweets and purchase if they wish, Or have live actors in the streets, playing oldern characters something to entise people to come back as there isnt much to entise people to wanting to come back.
Just back from a super day at Amberley museum. Had a lovely time wondering back in time with my wife. Super place to visit, suprised how quiet it was for a weekend. Stopped off at the café had a lovely jacket spud each. Prices were very good. Free parking as well. Staff all were clearly very passionate about the museum. Highly recommend you visit.

A beautiful castle and location. Currently it is covered in scaffolding though while being restored. Fabulous staff always make you feel very welcome and go above and beyond. The afternoon tea is superb - the best we've had in West Sussex!
Afternoon tea for my wife’s 60th. Outstanding venue, atmosphere and service. The moment you arrive and walk through the castle entrance archway you know this is a special place. Tea in a dedicated room. Savoury delights followed by beautiful sweet treats presented in a traditional way. Our waiter was formal but informal, lovely guy. Tea is not rushed with plenty of time to mingle and chat and wander the castle, with suits of armour, axes, swords, ancient portraits with eyes that follow you… and stunning grounds. Cheap? No way. But you are paying for the experience, quality and service. It’s something very special, something you will remember. Hope to come back and celebrate again…
A very special place. The village around it is like stepping back 300 years in time. Beautiful. The castle itself is so well kept. A stay here is a very special treat, fresh baked bread! The afternoon tea is also a very special treat!
Spectacular cuisine, delicious and impeccably tasty. We are at the restaurant and it's phenomenal. We had the chefs 5 course meal and every course was distinctive and surprising, absolutely scrumptious and really an amazing eating experience.
A fun, unique experience to stay in a castle with unusual charm. The food was good, and the staff (like bothy, Ivan, Karen) work very hard. The problem is the absence of management - a hotelier with oversight, available and noticing when tea is served without cups, when a simple yoghurt takes 40 minutes to arrive, dirty plates are left about the lounges for hours, the same litter sits around the grounds. It's a shambolic hotel, despite the efforts of the few staff, and a frustrating place to stay.
Did not lodge. Have dined here over the years for special occasions and always impeccable service and food. This time for afternoon tea which was extensive and top quality served on a personal basis. Ambience traditional country house and stunning grounds within a ruined castle. Expectedly costly.
I didn't stay at the castle's hotel but we went for afternoon tea. The afternoon tea exceeded expectations and was great to have some savory items with the tea as well as just sandwiches & cakes. This also included a choice of 4 different hot chocolate's which was great! The staff were lovely and attentive. Really recommend.
We came here for afternoon tea for our anniversary. Absolutely loved it, beautiful grounds inside and out. So clean and tidy. We walked around the small village which was lovely. Can’t wait to go back if we get the opportunity

Beautiful church dating back to 1103. Accepts card donations. Stained glass windows in good condition as well as the rest of the church
Attractive, well kept church with a history dating back to the 12th century. Inside there are medieval wall paintings, brasses and ornate stained glass windows. Outside, the churchyard is beautifully kept, and houses commonwealth war graves. The charming village of Amberley is well worth a walk around while you're visiting, with some wonderful thatched cottages, a lovely tea room and shop.
Amazing!!! I love the fact that there is a pre-recorded audioguide that you can listen to online while visiting the church. Also- I absolutely love your biodiversity in the graveyard. I wish more churches followed your eco-example.
St Michael's Church dates back to around 1100 AD but stands on the site of an earlier, wooden, Saxon Church.
Old 12th century church. Lovely walk through the quaint village and a lovely tea shop.
War graves are here if anyone is interested
Fantastic church in a very ornate village
Lovely in every way.
