We visited for the beginners Ice Climbing taster, we LOVED IT! Henry our instructor was absolutely amazing, he was a great teacher, really friendly and positive. All of the staff we met were lovely actually! We tried out the climbing wall as well which was pretty good. All in all 10/10 experience we will definitely be back!
The world's largest indoor ice climbing wall recreates glacial features with real snow. Novices can try curling on the Olympic-sized rink while experts tackle the 15m overhanging ice face. The café's hot chocolate with Irn Bru whipped cream is legendary.
Great place! The instructors are excellent and very friendly. We had a group of 4 for a 1 hour taster; the hour goes by very quickly but unless you are an experienced ice climber you'll too sore to complete a route. Great alternative to the hills on a rainy day or if winter conditions are poor, just make sure to call a week ahead to avoid disappointment.
We booked an ice climbing lesson as we had never tried it before. It was a great introduction to Ice Climbing and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Amy was our instructor and she made us feel comfortable and gave really clear instructions and helpful feedback. The place itself looks great, we didn't get the chance to try the bouldering or rock climbing but are likely to do next time we're up that way. Cannot recommend this place enough!
We did the 1hr taster session. Great fun and well worth the price. Our instructor Harrison was very friendly, enthusiastic and helpful. Even allowing us to run a little over the hour to ensure we all got to try the ‘chimney’ climb.
Fantastic experience for an 11 Yr old and 14 Yr old. Instructor Andrew was fantastic , encouraged both to push themselves and get the most from instruction session. Would certainly visit again.
pretty cool place, besides the pile of mud in the corner 10/10
Due to bad conditions in the hills we decided to visit for a little indoor ice climbing. Our instructor Hugo was brilliant and we had a great time. Would recommend taster sessions to anyone who does a bit of winter mountaineering and would like a confidence boost or any first timers. As we were relatively competent we were able to do some of the harder routes while Hugo instructed a novice pair, by the end of which they were climbing well and confident. Didnt use cafe but looked clean and nice. 10/10 would recommend

Rich kept me well informed from the point of contact, what to expect with the weather conditions, fitness and the necessary kit needed, also the potential hazards as we were taking our dog with us (German shepherd) On our ascent rich explained with his plethora of knowledge, the surrounding areas and mountain habitat. He also assisted me and my partner with the dog in the more treacherous areas. Taking time to explain different lacing techniques to prevent boot rub and showing the correct way to use crampons. At the summit we had Lunch and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine and clear sky's with amazing views (Rich got some brilliant pictures) On our descent Rich assisted an inexperienced climber (who came ill-prepared) he personally lowered him to safety from the icey summit for around 25 minutes. It was amazing to watch a professional at work but was close reminder to how dangerous Ben nevis can be. Rich definitely prevented the climber from having a fatal accident. We had a brilliant conversation/banter all day.(never a dull moment) Me & the Mrs highly recommend Rich Mountain experiences and will definitely use in the future. Made the experience a joy from start to finish, Worth every penny!
I booked with Rich as I wanted to get a good grounding in a winter mountain skills, to give myself the awareness and knowledge to widen my mountain adventures in the UK. From start to finish I received a very efficient and professional service. Rich helped with accommodation and public transport plans and offered lifts to make the logistics easier. The weekend itself was very well structured and well planned, challenging but safe, with lots of learning and lots of chances to put the theory into practice - the fun stuff! Rich has a relaxed style in his delivery of the course (not to be confused with lax!) and his subtle prompts rather than scoldings keep you on your toes and alert to the challenging environment you are in. His qualifications are superb, and his outdoor CV speaks for itself. A brilliant course that was fantastic value for money, with a top instructor who treats his clients not as simply another business transaction, but as his friends.
I do a lot of solo hiking trips so I thought it was about time I learned a bit more about winter mountaineering and winter skills. After contacting Rich, as I was interested in photography as well, he suggested combining it with a High Winter Camping. This worked out great in the end, as snow level was quite high which meant lots of hiking both days to reach snow without overnight camping. Rich is a brilliant instructor - and he definitely knows what he is talking about. We covered pretty much everything we can about winter skills - cutting steps, ice axe use, fall arrest, etc.. Only thing we couldn't cover was crampon use as the snow was simply too soft for crampons. However we talked about crampons use with quick demonstrations and Rich even sent me few good tutorial videos. I ended up spending the rest of the week in the Glen Coe area and Rich was very helpful suggesting other summits I can do on my own depending on my level.
Booked a 1 day winter hill course for the 27/02/16 and had an amazing day. Learned all essentials for safety, self arrest and avalanche risk (and much more!). He is very experienced and made the day out in the snow memorisable. I felt safe under his guidance which I think is one of the most important aspects of a mountain guide. Thanks to him and his wife Mona I had an unforgettable experience! I therefore recommend him very highly.
Brilliant two day experience: scrambling on day 1 and climbing and abseiling on day 2. We had a great time, learned loads (ropes, scrambling techniques, gaining confidence, team working, equipment use and care...) and got to see some amazing areas of Glencoe and For William. Two of us went. Day 1 - three of us with one instructor. Day 2. Two of us with one instructor. Brilliant level of supervision. Highly recommended.
I had a great time out in Glencoe with Rich. Even though the weather was tough going (It was winter), we got loads done, using axes and crampons. We even managed to bag a summit...And he had loads of spare chocolate too... Thanks again. MoniBirch
What an amazing weekend going to the top of Stob Coire Nan Lochan. Rich was a great guide with many stories and a world of knowledge about these beautiful mountains. Thank you
Had an amazing tour with Rich. Excellent knowledge and experience. And a lovely bloke.
