The park was founded by the French actor Jean Richard in 1963 on lands leased by from the Institut de France. The park was bought by Compagnie des Alpes in July 2005, who at the time owned Parc Astérix, another amusement park only 5 km away. The park was then sold to its current owner, the Looping Group in 2015. Jean Richard (18 April 1921 – 12 December 2001) was a French actor, comedian, and circus entrepreneur. He is best remembered for his role as Georges Simenon's Maigret in the eponymous French television series, which he played for more than twenty years, and for his circus activities. Richard was born in Bessines, Deux-Sevres. In the 1970s–1980s, he owned and managed three major circuses, two theme parks near Paris, La Mer de Sable and La Vallée des Peaux-Rouges, and a private zoo in his property of Ermenonville, Oise. He died on 12 December 2001 in Senlis, aged 80.
Great experience here. The waiting time was just right, 5-15 minutes except for the roller coaster. Good for families with young children.
Great family park. Came as an adult group as we are theme park enthusiasts and like to see unique parks. A nice selection of rides, great log flume and good shows. Also pleased to find vegan options. Will be back for the new rollercoaster.
La Mer de Sable is a charming family-friendly theme park located near Paris, set in a desert-themed landscape with exciting rides and attractions for all ages. With a focus on adventure and exploration, the park offers thrilling roller coasters, water rides, and fun activities inspired by the wild west and ancient civilizations. It’s smaller than some of the bigger parks, but its relaxed atmosphere and variety of attractions make it perfect for families with young children. If you're looking for a more laid-back but enjoyable day out, La Mer de Sable is a great choice!
Amazing place to visit. My 20month old and 3yr old absolutely loved it, lots of rides for both to go on. Price is very reasonable, especially if u book in advance. The 3 shows were fantastic! cowboys, Indians, horses, stunts explosions, just fab. Food outlets reasonably priced, good portions, plus choice of places to eat. So clean an tidy, well done all staff, made us feel welcome. Will definitely re visit
Great amusement park not far from Paris. Easy access and free parking just outside the park. Do recommend buying tickets in advance. Attractions are well adapted for smaller kids, even the shows are great 😃 both for kids and parents. We did not have many queues and waiting time except for bigger water attractions on sunny summer day. Prices are reasonable and we had a great time.
An enjoyable kid play parc, a lot of plays from you children to teenagers. About restaurants more better to have a break before to entry the parc, rates are to much expensive i.e can of any soda 33 cl cost you more 2€80 each; burger menu will start around 17€ included drinks and sweet dishes. Mexicano dishes available, French sandwiches also, half pizza available in a menu for less than 15€. Unfortunately water closet are in very bad condition. Users are not responsible, might be the parc management should think to provide a fee lavatory to the customers.
Great day family fun out for a reasonable price and good attractions.

A very pretty park with plenty of areas to explore and nice little poems and memorials dotted around, also worth walking up the road to the little bakery to get yourself some goûter 😋 also the park now seems to be free to enter which is always a bonus
Lovely park that used to be part of the chateau and houses the tomb of Rousseau (ashes no longer there). When the sun is shining the parc provides ample places with shade. Tip os to buy a ticket in combination with Chaalis abbey.
Very nice park with easy walks and art pieces to see
Had a lovely walk around only to discover gate was accidentally open, park was closed?! A great shame. Next door - best bakery, bought some delicious traditional bread and went back for more to eat on our journey 5*.😁
I liked it, very pretty but on the other hand "not really a park" as stated by Yulu 13/08/2022 so 4 stars
Very beautiful park, there are tables for a pique-nique.
According to Marcel Proust a person exists when he/she looks like a figure on a painting. J.J.Rousseaux parc is made after paintings of parcs. So this parc exist.
Beautiful small village with chateau nearby and nice cafes nearby. Park and walk the town, well worth a stop.
