Great place to walk / cycle with beautiful views. Lovely cafe and clean toilets on site. Large car park, which as a NT member is free, once you have scanned your membership card. We came for the Easter trail, which was good fun. The children were delighted to see archery set up and my son especially, spent a long time playing there and making friends.
A beautiful place to experience breathtaking views and serenity. We visited during a misty morning and the surroundings were just magical. Lots of quiet paths and peaceful hikes despite the crowds. Carpark is relatively big, with lots of picnic tables.
The Devils Punch Bowl & Hindhead Commons are worth visiting. You have Beauty, History and even folklore. no matter how many visitors you will find peace within. its a beautiful part of Surrey within the beautiful Surrey Hills
Had a truly lovely walk with Shadow through the stunning trails of Hindhead. The autumn colours were awe-inspiring, fiery reds, golden yellows, and that crisp woodland magic that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a storybook. The Exmoor ponies were a gentle delight, grazing peacefully and adding to the charm of the landscape. A highlight was chatting with an elderly couple along the way, one of those unexpected, heartwarming moments that makes a walk feel like a shared experience. And at the end, Shadow earned a round of applause for sitting so beautifully while I took a photo. A proud moment for us both! The only downside was the café not being dog-friendly, which felt out of step with the rest of the site’s welcoming atmosphere. Everything else, from the trails to the signage, was wonderfully inclusive, so it was a shame not to be able to enjoy a cuppa with Shadow by my side. Still, a beautiful day out that I’d happily recommend, with paws crossed that the café policy might change in future.
A beautiful spot for walking. It's really easy to get to by car, plenty of parking and the facilities are great for a nature spot. There's a big cafe, clean toilets, picnic benches and games for kids like soft archery, bean bags etc.
A lovely walk with some good hill climbs if you go into the bowl. Was interesting to be on the old A3 with the tunnel underneath. Some excellent fungi here too.
Great walks with outstanding views, particularly impressive during the autumn colour season in November. The scenery ranges from wide open vistas overlooking the Surrey Hills, to a beautiful secluded stream valley. Purple heather blooms carpet the hillsides in late summer, and the bright yellow gorse flowers provide quite a display in spring. Wide, well surfaced paths follow the route of the old A3, and there are several walks indicated on the map outside the café which take in various points of interest. Look out for the Sailor's Stone and Celtic Cross at the top of the Punch Bowl, a short walk from the parking area and café. Longer walks down into the punchbowl will satisfy more experienced hikers. Very large paid parking area (free for National Trust members) - machines were card payment only. Decent range of drinks and snacks at the café, ideal for refreshments after exploring the trails. Byways and bridleways run through the woods, so motorcyclists and horse riders can enjoy the area too.
Lovely scenery and walks. Good facilities and parking. Free for NT members.

A lovely shopping experience especially at Christmas. All manor of gifts available with a good range of locally made pottery. Very tastefully decorated for Christmas. I was on the look out for new cups and was not disappointed. They have a seconds shop and a lovely looking cafe.
Lovely gift shop and cafe. The seconds shed out the front is amazing too! Great to be able to see the ceramics being made at times. Cafe staff offered colouring for my 2 year old, which was nice, but it was after a while of sitting at the table, would have been helpful when we first sat down at our table. Good food.
Great cafe! Lovely pots of tea served in their own mugs from the pottery, and a delicious slice of chocolate, banana, and toffee torte. Yummy!
Family breakfast was amazing. We were visiting from Australia and wanted a good breakfast, the pottery didn't disappoint!! Food was great, staff were friendly and attentive, highly recommend.
I liked this store a lot! What I did not understand why they do not sell more pottery? Their pottery is so beautiful 😻 and I wish they have bigger assessment in their store instead of many things made in China 🇨🇳
Very disappointed today, how can they charge £3.45 for this small flat scone then an extra £1.40 for carton of jam & extra £1.40 for cream !!
Lovely place, lots to see, good parking. Toilets. Cafe served excellent food. Going back today for dinner :-) You can even see through a window the clay workroom while you eat.
A lovely off the beat cafe, quirky gift shop and amazing pottery! A bit pricey though.

Underrated in my opinion. Greens last summer were incridible, so fast and rolled so well. The Front 9 is set in 2 parallele valleys, Ive never seen anything like it, very unique. The back 9 while not in the valleys is just as good and is quite typical of other heathlands in the area. Preferred Hindhead to Woking, West Hill and Worplesdon. Members were very friendly and the scampi wrap for lunch was delicious!
One of the most beautiful and picturesque courses I have ever played. Though not in good condition due to heavy rain..
Played Hindhead for the first time about 15 years ago, my memory was the front 9 through the valley was a really nice layout but the back 9 was disappointing ( flat and little definition ). Returned to play the course as a convenient meeting point with old colleagues. Course was in absolutely fantastic condition and really enjoyed both nines. Will certainly not leave it another 15 years to return !
I played in July 2025, the course was in excellent condition, the greens very true, the fairways well watered and there were lots of interesting holes. The course plays like two different courses, the first 9 fall down into the valley, making for some spectacular holes and quite big changes in elevation (An Electric trolley is recommended!), both up and down fairways and greens. The short par 3 6th as an example, is a delight and a very steep change in elevation. The beer was good in the clubhouse, but watch out or the step down from the patio to the bar, I missed the step and nearly went flying….and that was before my beer :-) A very good test of golf, in beautiful Surrey countryside.
First and foremost, Hindhead is a must play golf course. It's different in a brilliant way. The front nine is rather unique and quite frankly exceptional to experience and play. I've played nothing quite like it in the UK, in fact anywhere. It left be breathless in more ways than one at times :). The back nine isn't quite as dramatic, but once again, it's an excellent nine holes of golf. From the pro shop to the bar staff, the whole off course experience is a friendly and welcoming one. The Aliss Bar is a lovely touch and brought back some wonderful memories. The photos won't do the course justice, so if you're in the area, please go and experience it all for yourself. You will not be disappointed - an exceptional course with the staff to match.
Simply stunning! I've played a few in the top 100 and this is my favourite ever golf course. Front 9 in the valleys is just incredible, back 9 finishes off a glorious 18. Greens super quick with false fronts giving a very Augusta feel. Staff and members were all friendly and welcoming, can't recomend this place highly enough, in my opinion it should be in the top 10 in England!
Great golf course with slightly different styles on front and back nines. The first nine is largely in a natural valley with serpentine fairways bordered by steep sided heather slopes. The back nine is much flatter, but again there is much heather to be avoided. Clubhouse facilities are also excellent.
I played this golf course today in a match against hankley common 28/5/23 and I have to say it is an unbelievable golf course! It’s the nicest and best course I have ever played. Very picturesque. The greens are like lighting , very true and roll beautifully. The fairways are gorgeous. The club house is also good.. nice food and good beer on tap. I can’t recommend this golf course enough , you will not be disappointed.
