This town is very appealing and has a great feel. There are places to stay and a great coffee shop that rents bicycles and has a room for rent. The Church is very nice and has bathrooms but very primitive. The cost is 10 lei to enter the Church
It was nice to see the attick and to learn how the church was build by the small community during more than 30 years.
Saschiz Fortified Church is a UNESCO site. It looks quite impressive although the interior of the church is rather simplistic. You can climb the bell tower up to the clock gears. The entry fee is 10 lei
Beautiful and interesting place. Very old building, it has a narrow spiral lather that goes all the way to the top. Also there is no light there, so be careful. It s worth going up, you can see the organ up close and the view from the top is wonderful. Nearby is Citizen s fortress that is worth visiting also.
Interesting site to visit. You can climb literally all the way to the top of the belfry and see the 3 big bells and the old mechanism (sadly not in use anymore), you can also get up into the attic of the church, and get up close to the church organ.
Definitely worth the visit, such a pleasant experience. Aside from the gorgeous church interior and beautiful church organ, you can climb the brick steps to the attic and see the vaulted ceiling from above. You can also climb the outer tower. The interior has exceptional woodwork, with easy to climb stairs. You can also go partway up on stone steps going through the narrow walls, amazing experience.
Highly recommended to visit this village and fortified church. It is a unesco heritage and rightly so! Price is rather cheap compared to other churches in the region! Amazing that you can climb inside to the top of the church and tower! Nice big metal bells to be observed from close by! 3 languages translated texts! German, English and Romanian. Easy with car, but there is also a bus stop in front.
I think it’s free to enter sometimes but I entered through the ticket office and paid for ticket when I saw people entering the main gate without paying the ticket. Quite disappointing to see that … if my assumption was correct that was completely dishonest especially for somewhat a religious place. That’s what you get as a foreign tourist in Romania. But I won’t take stars for it. It’s an ok place if you like history otherwise boring.
