The Devil’s Staircase is truly an unforgettable hiking experience that combines the thrill of adventure with stunning natural beauty. The journey began on a motorcycle, but we quickly realized that walking would allow us to soak in the surroundings better. With low tire pressure on the bike, my friend rode ahead while I walked, creating a unique and challenging dynamic to the trek. Despite the difficulty, this hike became one of the most memorable experiences of my life. The views along the trail are nothing short of breathtaking. Surrounded by lush greenery, misty landscapes, and the occasional glimpses of valleys below, every step felt like a scene from a painting. The atmosphere is serene and untouched, offering a tranquil escape from the chaos of everyday life. However, the hike is no easy feat, especially with the unpredictable weather. The cold was biting, and with rain soaking our jackets and clothes, we felt every bit of the chill. Yet, this added a raw, adventurous edge to the experience, making it even more special. One of the highlights was meeting the kind-hearted tea plantation workers along the way. Their warm smiles and generosity made the journey feel less daunting. Despite their humble lifestyle, their kindness and willingness to help were truly heartwarming. Walking through the tea plantations, we gained a glimpse into their daily lives, which added a rich cultural layer to the hike. Adding to the charm was an unexpected travel companion—a little dog that joined us at the start of the trail and stayed with us until the end. His playful and loyal presence brought joy and companionship, making the experience even more meaningful. The Devil’s Staircase is not just a hike; it’s an adventure that challenges you physically, connects you with nature, and introduces you to the simplicity and beauty of life in the hills. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a unique and soulful trekking experience!
We hiked it last week and the experience was unforgettable. Surrounded by misty mountains, tea estates and cascading waterfalls, every step offered a new stunning view. The winding, narrow path lives up to its name with sharp bends and steep drops, adding adventure to the beauty. Its not just a trail. It is a journey through nature's raw charm and serenity. Highly recommnded for those who love a mix of challenge and scenic wonder. As well I want to remind please dont pollute. Lets protect and preserve this natural treasure for future generations to experience and enjoy
Very nice hike with amazing views and very little tourists. Only when we arrived at the waterfalls in the valley (350 rupees pp) we ran into a couple of other (local and international) visitors.
This is near to the starting point of devils staircase trail from Ohiya side. One of the best scenic trail we’ve been. Trail starts from the Ohiya - Horton plains road. Total trail is about 14-15kms. Trekking from Ohiya to downhill is easier and will take about 6-8hours.
