If you are a history geek like me, then this is a must see. The site has lots of info plaques in German and English. The conservation of the excavated remains is very good and it is easily walkable. There are drink and snack machines near the viewing tower. Best of all, it is free to enter and you can take as much time as you like to explore the entire site.
Yesterday started this Salve Abusina Roman Festival, and I was amazed to learn the history of where the Romans had settled across the land, which is now Germany. It was great to see how soldier's of long ago dressed and what kind of weapons they used for defense and for time of war. I love the fact that you can still see where the barracks, the storehouse, and many other buildings once stood. It was an awesome experience. I will return again in 2 years when this festival comes back.
We visited during some summer reenactments, and it was really enjoyable. I suspect that my view might be different if we visited as it is normally.
The view is nice and you learn a lot of things (in Deutch). You can walk there for the whole place and it has a parking lot. It's not for people who wants to make grill or to have fun. It's a historical landscape
Nice place to visit if interested in Roman history. Not too much to see but lots to read. If you're passing through, it's worth a stop.
If you have some interested in Roman history, it is amazing to contemplate one of its forts. Time has destroyed almost everything, but from the top built there you can have an idea of the size and steucte built in the old times.
Amazing and Real peace of history … "History to touch for young and old" is usually in August and the motto in the former border fort Abusina in Bad Goegging. At Bavaria's largest Roman festival, visitors can experience the everyday life of Rome as they did 2000 years ago.
Roman fort parts dating to the first century. In August they have a festival where they dress up in uniforms and clothing. They have food and demonstrations of life during the Roman times
