Many nearby restaurants and cafés offer both South Indian and multi-cuisine options, so it’s easy to find good food with a sea view. Marina Beach is well-maintained, and recent improvements have included better accessibility for everyone. Whether you want to soak in the sound of the waves, enjoy street food, or spend quality time with loved ones, Marina Beach never disappoints! Highly recommended for all ages.

Marina Beach ranks first among the worst beaches in India. At least it is a beach that is not only difficult to get to, but also to see. There are people on the road, traffic in the evening, women are not there to change their clothes, to go to the beach you have to walk 1km on the sand. It is best for those who go on a tour to Chennai to avoid seeing a 100% clean beach. If you want to see it, it is better to look somewhere a little further away between Marina Beach and the Lighthouse

On Saturdays and Sundays, there’s a lively mela that adds a festive vibe, but do keep in mind that during these days, finding parking for a four-wheeler can be quite challenging. Highly recommended for anyone who loves calm and scenic nights by the sea.

From the sacred temple tank (Kapali Tirtha) to the daily rituals, the temple offers a rich, immersive cultural experience that is essential for anyone seeking history, art, or spiritual reflection in Chennai. It truly is a masterpiece of faith and craftsmanship.

Had the pleasure of visiting on Diwali, we received an insightful tour around the temple grounds outlining Hindu customs, beliefs and temple practices. This is a prominent Shiva temple and is decorated in hand carved wooden statues which ate repainted every 5 years. You can't help to reflect on blessings of the temple and the focus on the themes of masculine and feminine harmonies (which is explained in more detail during the tour). Please note non hindus can only walk the grounds and cannot enter the shrine The temple is also an active kitchen for the homeless and lower castes. When you arrive there is a shoe storage stand by the main door for a price of 100rpi. Guides will be lingering near the shoe storage stand and around the temple grounds. Highly recommend bringing enough cash to donate to the temple, people attending the kitchen and the guide. Please agree a price with the guide first to avoid being overcharged but there is a cash machine near by if you're running low.

The Kapaleeshwarar Temple is located right in the heart of Mylapore, surrounded by the theppakulam (temple tank) and busy shopping streets (mada streets). ​I visited in September just before the Navaratri festival. The streets were colourful and traditional, filled with beautiful Golu dolls. The main shrines are dedicated to Lord Shiva (Kapaleeshwarar) and Goddess Parvati (Karpagambal). Despite the busy city, inside the temple, you feel a deep sense of peace and divine energy. The rituals and the decorated deities create a moving, spiritual ambience.

The detailing is incredible, and every inch of the structure feels alive with history and devotion. Inside the temple, the atmosphere is filled with the sound of bells, chants, and the soft aroma of incense — it’s an experience that touches the heart. What I loved most was how the temple blends spirituality with daily life. You’ll see people offering prayers, feeding temple cows, and quietly sitting near the tank in reflection. The surrounding Mylapore area adds to the charm, with its vibrant flower stalls and traditional shops. Even if you’re not deeply religious, the architecture and cultural energy of Kapaleeshwarar Temple make it a must-visit. It’s not just a place of worship — it’s a living symbol of Chennai’s soul, tradition, and timeless beauty

This Sacred Hindu temple was believed to be built in the 7th century by the Pallava dynasty. The moment you enter, you will get positive energy, the craftsmanship is simply superb. The ancient Murals are just beautiful. More Importantly, you will literally feel the presence of Mahadev here. Mahadev’s face through the Diya lights will bring goosebumps. Very clean and very well maintained temple.

It is one of the oldest and powerful Shiva temples, which is located in the middle of Chennai. One of the best landmarks of Hinduism in Chennai. Even though it is in mid of Chennai, inside the temple premises, you feel such a divine and spiritual attainment. Both Shiva and Ambal Sannithi give pleasant and divine feelings. You will feel more relaxed after getting dharshan from Shiva and Ambaal. Mostly in the evening, cultural programmes which reflect our traditional and together chanting of the Shiva Puranam give a higher elevation of our spiritual level.

Great beach near Besant nagar. Very peaceful. If you're taking a car only early mornings are recommended. Evenings are livelier, with lots of activities, food and entertainment. But you can't park your car if you go later than 4.30pm. Bike or public transport is recommended in the Evenings. There are a lot of eateries around.

Visited this Elliot beach near Besant Nagar in the evening. Since the place was too crowded and cleanliness was poorly managed, I felt bad as the beach cleanliness should be citizens responsibility. Near shore it's always beautiful.nearby restaurants are available and you can reach here by auto, taxi or self. Parking availability seems tough.

If you’re looking for a quiet, serene experience, visiting on a weekday might be better. Overall, Elliot’s Beach offers a refreshing coastal escape right in the city - perfect for a casual outing, a quick bite, or simply soaking in the ocean view.

Visited Edward Elliot's Beach in the morning — it's very close to the IIT Madras campus 🏫🌊. The place was less crowded and offered a soul-soothing experience 🌅. The soft light of sunrise looked truly beautiful ✨, and the fresh, crisp air carried a mild scent of the sea 🌬️🌺. The beach was calm and peaceful 🧘. Walking barefoot on the cool, damp sand felt grounding and refreshing 🏖️👣. It’s the perfect spot to relax, reflect, or simply enjoy the serene beauty of nature 🌿💭. There are plenty of shops along the shore 🛍️, hinting that the evenings here must be lively and vibrant 🎉🌆.

It's a spectacular architectural monument made a few steps beside the sea. There's peace and calm inside the church. It's made with great craftsmanship. The views were marvelous both inside and outside. You can just go alone by yourself, sit in the silence and pray, you'll find your inner peace for sure. And the staff there are helpful and kind as well. Great place for a visit when you're in Chennai.

I’ve always loved exploring places of worship for their history and architecture — and Santhome Cathedral Basilica in Chennai truly impressed me. The moment I saw it, I was struck by its beautiful white Gothic structure rising gracefully against the sky. The pointed spires, arched doorways, and tall windows give it such a majestic look, and the detailing is absolutely stunning. Inside, the atmosphere is calm and peaceful. The stained glass windows bring in soft, colorful light that fills the space with a quiet serenity. Even as someone from a different faith, I could feel a deep sense of spirituality and respect in the place. Architecturally, it’s a masterpiece — the symmetry, the high ceilings, and the intricate craftsmanship reflect classic European design, yet it blends so harmoniously with the coastal surroundings of Chennai. Learning that the church was built over the tomb of St. Thomas the Apostle, one of Jesus’s disciples, made the visit even more meaningful from a historical point of view. Overall, Santhome Cathedral Basilica is more than just a religious site — it’s a blend of art, history, and peace. You don’t have to be Christian to appreciate its beauty; it’s a place that speaks to anyone who values culture and architecture.

Quite surprised to know that there is a Cathedral church in Chennai. It is quite a big Cathedral. The architecture and design is almost the same as other Cathedral around the world. With the white colour, it is quite eye catching when you pass by it. it is not just the church but the compound is also quite big. there is another building and parking lot. Visited on Saturday morning, there are few people in the church, mostly are visitors.

After many disappointing fake reviews on various places in Chennai, this is only one worth of my praise. We went to beach for sunset but couldn’t stand the place so started walking back to this church. God is good, we did not expect the lightings on this church but it was so beautiful. There was service going on in the sanctuary, although we didn’t understand the song, but the music was so calming. The night temperature was pleasant too, praise the Lord!

A calm, soulful hilltop shrine with sweeping views of Chennai and the airport. The church is small, serene and well kept; you can sit quietly, light a candle and spend time in prayer. The steps up (with Stations of the Cross) feel devotional, or you can drive to the top if you’re with elders. Inside, the ancient stone cross and the statue of Our Lady of Expectation add to the sense of history. Crowd management is disciplined on Sundays and feast days.

This mall is a vibrant hub in Chennai, frequently hosting a wide range of events such as Navaratri celebrations and World Cup ticket sales. There is always something happening here, keeping the atmosphere lively. While the mall is a bit older, it is well maintained, with washrooms that look especially upscale. The food court is decent, the games area is excellent, and there’s a good selection of branded shops. The location also offers convenient connectivity.

I’ve visited Express Avenue Mall many times with both friends and family, and every visit has been a great experience. The mall is spacious, well-maintained, and has something for everyone. Whether you’re in the mood for shopping, watching a movie, grabbing a good meal, or just spending some quality time, this place never disappoints. There are plenty of popular international and local brands to shop from, and the variety in the food court is amazing from fast food to fine dining. The movie theater is also excellent, with comfortable seating and good sound quality. What I also love is how clean and organized everything is. Security is good, and parking is convenient. It’s one of those places where you can easily spend a few hours without even realizing it. Overall, Express Avenue is definitely one of the best malls in Chennai. I always look forward to going back!

Express Avenue is one of the top malls in Chennai with multiple branded outlets local and foreign, a reliance hypermarket and escape cinemas. Escape is a good option for movies with good comfortable seating (not pushback) and various snack options. Among the outlets, Decathlon , Miniso, the recent Daiso are among my favorites. The Foodcourt has varieties of outlets from grill to desserts to fast Food such as Taco Bell & KFC. The seating can be an issue though during rush hours. I was not able to find washrooms and the old ones near food court seems to be under renovation.

Good old mall that is still kept well. Would be nice if there are coffee shops with some view. Starbucks is tucked in a corner at the lower floor while Third Wave Coffee with awesome coffee is enclosed for better privacy with not much of a view.

Here's what stood out: History & Architecture One of Chennai’s oldest surviving temples, originally built by the Pallavas in the 6th–8th century, then expanded by the Cholas and later Vijayanagara kings . A proud Divya Desam, praised in the Naalayira Divya Prabandham by the Alvars . Features classic Dravidian structure: towering Raja Gopuram, ornate stone pillars, 36-pillared mandapam, and detailed carvings . Multiple Forms of Perumal Central shrine houses Lord Parthasarathy (Krishna–Charioteer of Arjuna), unique with a moustache (“Meesai Perumal”) and holding only a conch (no discus), believed to bear Bheeshma’s arrow scars from Kurukshetra . Thiruvellukani or Sri Parthasarathi Perumal Kovil is a magnificent ancient temple where Sri Krishna is worshipped as Parthasarathi - the Charioteer to Arjuna. Allikeni, refers to a pond full of lily! In a departure from other temple sculptures, the approximately 10 ft tall Idol of Parthasarathi often referred as Moolavar (Main dirty) inside the sanctum sactorum sports a moustache, which is unique to only this temple. In contrast, the Utsav moorti or the idol which is used to circumabulate the temple during poojas and special occasions, has a face marked with wounds made by the arrows during the 18 days kurukshetra or mahabharata war. One can see the consort of Parthasarathi- Sri Mahalakshmi, referred to here as Vedavalli Thayar. The temple was first built by the Cholas in the 6th century and subsequently other kings, added structures to the main temple. One can find sanctums for Sri Narasimhar, Sri Ranganathar, Sri seetha ramar, Sri thayar And Sri Anjaneya/ Hanuman. One must visit this temple to blissfully explore the magnificence and the divinity of Sri Krishna and Mahalaxmi.

This place was awesome when I visited at Chennai. Evening aarti was too good and tasty Prasad after aarti. You may do pooja if you require for any occasion.

The temple and place is simply divine and awesome. It’s a bliss to be part of the community and lovely experience of darshans of Parthasarathy Perumal, Narashimar , SriRanganathar, SriKanchiVaradhar and SriRamar swamy. Also the temple has Goddess Ranganayaki , Vedavalli and Andal thayar.

A peaceful place surrounded by trees, with a large and grand temple. There are also smaller temples dedicated to other gods. It's a great spot for meditation, though the abundance of mosquitoes in the open sitting hall in front of the temple can be distracting, likely due to its open nature. It would have been nice to have direct access to the beach from inside the temple. A nice place to spend some quality time in peace.

The Shirdi Sai Baba Temple here is one of those rare places where you instantly feel connected with nature. The sound of birds, the gentle breeze through the trees, and the calm surroundings create a truly peaceful vibe – something I personally love. There’s adequate parking space, and even a small snack stall inside if you want a quick bite. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the staff are friendly and polite, adding to the overall warm and welcoming experience. The temple is clean and silently maintained, which makes it ideal for a calm visit. Earlier there was beach access, but it’s currently not available. Even without it, the natural surroundings and serene setting make this temple well worth visiting.

Visited the temple with great exicitement and anxiety on 18th Oct 2025 at 5 pm. But to my surprise and disappointment I could feel No vibration of Sai's Presence. No lamps were lit before the variety of deities in the complex except Shri Guru Datta. Felt very bad when visited the mandir for the first time. No poojari was present for performing harati or distributing prasad. Even a roadside Ganapathy temple would have more divine vibration. Utterly disappointed. When the trustees could not maintain a temple why they have built such a big temple and insult Shree Saibaba like this. Really horrible. Oh Bhagavan Shree Sanatha please forgive those irresponsible trustees of this madir.

A True divine experience in the lap of nature. This spacious temple located in a private premises is open for public from 8am to 12:30noon during Monday to Saturday. Sundays are closed. The premises hosts multiple small temples of various Gods & Goddesses for Darshan. A true reflection of Shirdi Sai, one can find the Dhuni, Chawadi, Palki, Khandoba temple etx. Parking space is ample for both 2&4 wheelers. For elders one must remember that theres a lot of walking and staircases involved for the darshan. So one may plan accordingly. Premises also hosts a small store for stationary, gifts, posters & idols of Sai. They also sell small plants and organice manure locally made. There is also a Dhyana Mandir, in the basement.

Behind Venkateswara swamy outer pragraha Ranganathan swamy is kept Sunday morning had a nice and peaceful Dharshan, not that must of crowd. A beautiful temple near main road. Idols are so beautifully designed and decorated that you can't keep your eyes off them. But one issue is that you can't stay for too long as you will be removed because of the croud. Photography wasn't allowed so i couldn't capture the beauty.A Another thing is that some uploaded temple in a pond which i didn't see hope its misguided.

I have been a few times to this temple of lord vishnu. Its a quiet and small temple with a straightforward entry to the holy sanctum of lord vishnu and goddess lakshmi. Always had a good darshan at this temple. Temple management and volunteers manage the devotees to move in a orderly manner for all to get the lord's darshan right in front of him as shown in photo attached. A must visit to this great and superb temple.

Huge area to walk, need your full day time. Parking Fee - 150(car). Entry fee - 200 adult, 50 kids. Electric vehicle and cycle option inside. Aquarium, marine museum,all animal types, birds collection is huge(you will love this), reptiles (average). Kids play area park . Plenty of Tamilnadu state food options inside, avin milk stores, drinking water facility they are providing everywhere is fantastic. Good work TN Goverment

Arignar Anna Zoological Park (Vandalur Zoo) - a day well spent! I visited this sprawling zoo with my family, and we had a roaring time (pun intended). The highlight was definitely the Bengal tiger- those piercing eyes and majestic stripes left us in awe. We also spotted a rare white tiger, which was a treat. The lion enclosure was impressive, with the kings of the savannah lazing in the sun. The Indian bears were adorable, playing around. The giraffes were another favorite, with their long necks and gentle eyes. We enjoyed watching them roam. The peacocks were a sight to behold, spreading their vibrant feathers in a stunning display. The cassowari, with their unique casques, were an interesting sight. The zoo is spread over a vast area, with plenty of greenery and naturalistic enclosures. It's a great place to spend a day with family and learn about wildlife conservation. Overall, a fun and educational experience! 4.5/5 stars. Highly recommended for families and wildlife enthusiasts!

Visited Arignar Anna Zoological Park (Vandalur Zoo) recently and it was an amazing experience! The zoo is huge, very well maintained, and has a great variety of animals. We really enjoyed the lion safari and deer safari totally worth it! 🦁 🦌 Yes, the ticket prices felt a bit on the higher side, but considering the size and upkeep of the zoo, it's completely justified. A perfect place to spend a day with family or friends. Full paisa wasool experience! 👍🏻 ✨✨

The Vandalur zoo is a very vast area. The number of animals, when we went with family during a weekday, were less. I understand that this is a very old zoo but it is not properly maintained. There are not many indications about which way we have to go (if you are planning to take the cycles or go by walk). The is a tour available in buggy but they just drive through. Many animals shelters are poorly maintained. There is only one restaurant which provides food during lunch. The quality is questionable, but no other choice. Own food also is not allowed inside. Get plenty of water if you are walking in the zoo. There are kiosks were water bottles are available but we need to return them intact (not to crushed, no stickers to be removed, etc) if we need to get the deposit amount for the water bottles. Again hygiene of these water bottles is questionable. One good use of technology is in buying tickets. Instead of waiting in queues to buy tickets, we can scan QR code to get the tickets in WhatsApp.

A great zoo to visit!!! Entry ticket: 200/person Electric vehicle fees: 150/person Deer and Lion safari: 150/person A great zoo with lots of animals. Each animal has ample space for roaming around owing to large enclosures. There are toilets and drinking water at regular intervals of time. The no plastic policy is also highly recommendable, especially since there are free animals like deer roaming around the park. Modes of travel inside the park: 1. Walking (will take around 4 hours to walk around the whole park) 2. Cycles 3. E-bike 4. E-carts (park is divided into zones. The cart will take you from entrance to first zone and the let you off. You can roam around till whenever you need and the go to the pickup point. The e-carts will pick you from this pickup point and transfer you to the next point and so on. Also note that this mode of travel will not cover all animals, especially those that are between zones during transit). There are also small shops selling cold as well as hot drinks and snacks. I recommend going to the safari after visiting the zoo because the safari bus is air conditioned and helps you cool off a bit before leaving the park. However, the safari was not as good. There were three lions near an enclosure and some deer.

Visited Vandalur Zoo recently and had a great overall experience — the place is well-maintained, clean, and perfect for a family outing. However, a few things can be improved. Electric cycles are very limited, especially on weekends — late comers won’t get any, which is disappointing. Also, there is no online booking option for cycles, battery cars, or safari tickets, which causes unnecessary waiting. The safari experience itself can be better with more animals added to make it feel fuller and more exciting.

It's a great place to visit with your kids. We get to see different animals and birds. Green everywhere and you get to enjoy the fresh Air. They have a nice park where the kids get to enjoy the different types of slides and rope climbing.

I stayed here one night and can definitely recommend the place! I arrived quite early in the morning and they allowed me to already check in and stay until the next morning a few hours later. They gave me clean towels, soap and the room was nice and clean. The next morning one of the staff members offered some chai and coffee! It felt like a warm welcome. Budgeted rooms were preety bad, there was no window in windows of washroom you can watch across other washroom which thankfully had some windows. They are not even bothered to apply some curtain window or just brick it up. The person who sits with mask on his mouth doesn't have any manners and temperament to be in service sector.

I visited this temple around 10:30 AM on a Thursday, and it was quite busy, which shows how much devotion people here have. There is also a temple pond within the premises, which I couldn’t visit this time, but it adds to the traditional charm. Accessibility is also convenient, as the Vadapalani Metro Station is nearby, making it easy for commuters.

Vadapalani Andavar Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Muruga. It is located in Vadapalani, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is around 25 kms from Tambaram. Great beach near Besant nagar. Very peaceful. If you're taking a car only early mornings are recommended. Evenings are livelier, with lots of activities, food and entertainment. But you can't park your car if you go later than 4.30pm. Bike or public transport is recommended in the Evenings. There are a lot of eateries around.

Visited this Elliot beach near Besant Nagar in the evening. Since the place was too crowded and cleanliness was poorly managed, I felt bad as the beach cleanliness should be citizens responsibility. Near shore it's always beautiful.nearby restaurants are available and you can reach here by auto, taxi or self. Parking availability seems tough.

Visited Edward Elliot's Beach in the morning — it's very close to the IIT Madras campus 🏫🌊. The place was less crowded and offered a soul-soothing experience 🌅. The soft light of sunrise looked truly beautiful ✨, and the fresh, crisp air carried a mild scent of the sea 🌬️🌺. The beach was calm and peaceful 🧘. Walking barefoot on the cool, damp sand felt grounding and refreshing 🏖️👣. It’s the perfect spot to relax, reflect, or simply enjoy the serene beauty of nature 🌿💭. There are plenty of shops along the shore 🛍️, hinting that the evenings here must be lively and vibrant 🎉🌆.

It's often overcrowded on weekends. There are lots of shops, including eateries, games, and puzzles. It's a great place to spend an evening.

It's my all time favorite beach. Less polluted when comparing to marina beach. Lot of food shops available,for dis-abled person's government arranged wooden ramp upto beach area. So they can also enjoy the beach completely. Old peoples also can walk over it to avoid the walk on sand

The place is good and peaceful. The view from the top is really breathtaking. Reach there before the light fails to enjoy the picturesque location and there are 2 routes..one for vehicles and other by walk .One can also spot flight landings and take off from the other side.It is well maintained and calm. Down the hill u have a church(St.Patrick's)which u can visit if interested.

Definitely worth the visit. I walked up from the station rather than get a cab. It was a nice walk up the wide steps as they snaked up the hill the path flanked by sleeping dogs.....and massive snails on the walls As others have said, cool view of the airport. Museum of relics, general museum as well as the church and a convent with a nice cafe to have a rest and a snack. I'd allocate an hour to spend at the top.

One of the most famous churches around Chennai. We need to climb like 130 steps to reach the top of the Mount. It will take like 10-15 min to reach. Roadways are also there to reach the top of the Mount. If we have our own transport we can go by it or else u need to take a local auto for reaching the top costs nearly ₹150. Other than local Auto no other auto will go to the top. On the top of the hill there are many beautiful view points. Mother Mary is worshipped here in the form of a pregnant lady. Beautiful Church with many Sculptures and traditions. Also we can see the Historic stone carvings of history inside and the base of the church. Shops are available at the bottom and top place for candles, flowers and photos. So divine blessings 🙏 must visit once in everyone's life.

A small hill with a memorial chapel amidst the city. The chapel has some of the oldest historic relics. The hill offers a splendid aerial view of the city, the icing on the cake is the aerodrome view. You get to see flights taking off and landing at a closer angle. Definitely one of the not to be missed spots in Chennai. There is ample car parking and 2 wheeler parking spots and a petite snacks shop on the top of the hill. I went there on a Saturday evening and there was some celebration going on, so it was busy. If you are planning to go, visit either early morning or late evening for a chillax exp and avoid the sun.

Though I was in Chennai from 1988to 1993 and seen many places I couldn't visit this Church. Even after retirement settled in Chennai from April 2021 planned many times to visit but yesterday only I could visit this place with family. Had a view of Chennai from the top, went inside the church and sat for few minutes and prayed for peace of life because I believe that God is one for all. Nice place to see and offer prayers.

ISKCON Chennai also known as Sri Sri Radha Krishna Mandir is at Sholinganallur , Chennai. The temple is very big and it's very beautiful and if you visit during festivals like Janmastami, there will be huge crowd but the temple looks very beautiful with all the lightings and decoration, especially in the evenings. I used to visit the temple when I was chennai. During normal days and weekends , there won't be much crowd but during any auspicious days the crowd will be huge. The prasadam is good and you can also find books etc.,
