Bantimurung National Park is famously known as the paradise of butterflies. Here, you can find a variety of uniquely shaped butterflies that are rarely seen anywhere else. But is it only about butterflies? Absolutely not! If you're a fan of caves, this place also boasts two stunning caves—Dream Cave and Stone Cave. To explore these hidden gems, you can rent a lamp from the locals stationed at the entrance, and pay a tip for a tour guide based on your own discretion. Adventure awaits—come and explore!
I visited the BantimuruNg Waterfall which had easy access from the main road. The entrance fee is IDR30k for locals and 200k for foreigners. The area itself had various trek and spots to take pictures and marvel at the beauty of the waterfall. They also had a kayak rent, cave sightings, and butterfly museum (which was closed when I visited). You can swim freely in the area as plenty of family do that and bring your own food for a picnic inside. However, the management of the place was quite bad and many infrastructure had been decayed and dirty. If you just walk along the trek and path, it's still beautiful. Beware, there are plenty of tour guides offering their service to you. There are also freelance photographer inside that use their DSLR to take pictures od you (without your consent) and offer to transfer it to your smartphone for IDR 5k per picture. There are also some locals that demanded to give them some money because they helped to clean and maintain the place.
This waterfall is very beautiful and a must-see. It gets very crowded on weekends. People gather from all over the area to play and swim there. It has very beautiful nature, with high mountains and mountains full of trees. And it's still not far from Makassar, it's very close, and wherever you go, the ticket is also convenient. And also You can take food with you or order food there.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
It was a good concept but like typical place in Indonesia, it was lack of maintenance and not clean. Good for locals to do picnic. A very good and beautiful nature that needs more love not just being abuzed to produce money for certain individuals. It's ok to visit but not a must.
I recently visited the Bantimurung Bulusaraung National Park, and it was an unforgettable experience. Located in Maros, South Sulawesi, this park is a must-visit destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers. Stunning Scenery The park's scenery is breathtaking, with lush green forests, towering limestone cliffs, and picturesque waterfalls. The Karst landscape is unique and fascinating, with its distinctive rock formations and caves. Diverse Wildlife Bantimurung Bulusaraung is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including butterflies, birds, and monkeys. I was thrilled to spot some rare species, including the Tarsier and the Macaque. Exciting Activities The park offers a range of exciting activities, including hiking, rock climbing, and caving. I opted for a guided hike, which took me through the forest and offered stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Overall, my visit to Bantimurung Bulusaraung National Park was an unforgettable experience. The park's stunning scenery, diverse wildlife, and exciting activities make it a must-visit destination for anyone interested in nature and adventure. I highly recommend it! Rating: 5/5
This is a great place and easily becomes nice instagrammable spots to take pictures of the waterfall, creeks and ponds. It takes around an hour drive from Makassar to reach the area. I have no idea but I don't see too many butterflies as this place is called "kingdom of butterflies" during my visit. If you take the path around the small hill, you would reach a stone cave where you could explore it if that's your things. But when the guide there told me that there's actually another small pond that'd been closed to the visitors due to some accidents involved, where the scenery is even better. Well, we managed to persuade the guide to take us there after a strict promise that we won't take a dip or swim inside the pond. After some steep walks, we managed to reach the spot and yes, it was indeed worth seeing. My only negative rating of this tourist area is that it is currently not well maintained. While it should be a great tourist attraction, I saw collapsed concrete railings on the path to the cave and other maintenance needs to be conducted to make this place better.
so genuine..so freshhhh..sooo originaalll...!!!! even the tour guide said all that not allowed to give food to the wild monkeys and/or wild boar inside the forest in order not to break the ecosystem and not to break their body chemicals, so let the wild keep eating something wild and natural also from the forest..and we as the visitors have to be discipline for that rules in order to keep them on track as well😎👍🙌💪🔥🥰 however..as usual other tourism places..somehow its not well maintained hiks..while it is truly such a legacyyyyy for our country🥺🙏 anyway i also attach the video courtessy of my lil sis how gorgeous the bantimurung lake with so many butterflies!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰🙌🙌👍🙌
Beautiful place with huge potential but it's visibly not well maintained. The infrastructure is just dilapidated, with a premium ticket price, it's just quite a shame.

The most cute authentic indonesian place to stay , great location , nice english speaking staff. Great in all ways
Basic facilities in a good location with very helpful staff. Great for Sulawesi Masked owls and Great-eared Nightjar just sitting at the lodge.
Yes I gave this place 5 stars, it’s rustic and beautiful, the location is just idyllic. Settled on the banks of the Pute River, these reef and wooden structures are functional and comfortable, but it’s a gateway the most incredible scenery. The Karst region is just stunning. The food at the restaurant on site is simple, tasty and ample. You have to try the Piesang Goreng Keju, such a strange combination but it’s delicious. Loved my 2 nights here, couldn’t recommend it more, don’t expect luxury! The staff are amazing but obviously language is a barrier.
Very recommendable to see Rammang Rammang. The family is very welcoming, cook good food and help you out with everything. Really nice glimpse into the culture and interaction with local people.
It's probably the best accomodation that Rammang-Rammang has to offer. The guy owner is a seasoned tour guide/diver that has traveled all across Indonesia and decided to stay here. The wife is the super manager that does the cooking (the fish soup is out of this world!), tour and transport arrangement, etc. The place bears "eco-friendly" in its name on various online booking websites. So don't expect aircon and hot water. The bungalow roofs are traditional dried woven nipah leaves (local palm trees) that could understandably be leaking a little here and there when it rained very hard, but it's part of the fun living in nature. The location is surrounded by amazing karst hills and it's in the center of Rammang-Rammang. Ask for a whole day trekking tour because this is the only way to get the full experience visiting various places on foot and by boat. The local tour guide guided us through the rivers, ricefields, and forests where we picked wild flowers and leaves that the homestay later cooked for lunch! In short, this is the best time we had in South Sulawesi! ❤️❤️
Location is beautiful. Stayed here only for a night. The views you get is unparalleled. There are few issues, but I’ve realized with my travels after Covid that everyone is trying to recover. I think it’s important that we be a bit understanding, support businesses and help them overcome the Covid struggles. Issues werent even that significant. The bathroom door didnt close. Overall it felt clean but just some spider webs on the ceiling, which wasnt a big issue. The window doors didn’t close and had access from the outside which is a bit security issue but overall its a safe place. Does have a shower head but doesnt work well, but a bucket is provided:) I was happy that it had a Flushing toilet:) The owner/staff are all very warm and welcoming. They even offered me their own dinner which was so sweet :) I wasnt very fond of the food though. It was extremely basic and wasnt very tasty. Had to purchase water bottles, no refills provided. Breakfast is offered but it was fried rice only so I skipped. It could be slightly cheaper i think. I paid 600k rupiah for a night. Like ive said before, i think businesses need opportunity to recover and get themselves back on their feet. Overall I recommend this place and would stay again if go that way.
Rammang Cafe is located on the riverbank along the route to the Rammang-Rammang tourist destination. This cafe provides lodging, restaurant facilities and a variety of seafood culinary menus. if you want food that can be served quickly, you should not order a burnt food menu because it takes quite a long time to be available. public facilities such as toilets are quite adequate. you will enjoy the view of the boat passing in front of this cafe
Rammang Rammang is very well worth a visit. Unfortunately it only has a few places to stay at, and this eco lodge is one of them. So the prices are way too high and does not match with what you get. For the 400.000idr/night we would have gotten so much more value f.ex. in Makassar. Cold water shower, no a/c, no mosquito net (and lots of mozzies), no drinking water in the room or fill up opportunity. Also the roof was leaking next to the pillow during the rain in the night. Very basic nasi goreng for breakfast. It has a nice atmosphere and would be a great place to stay at if the price would be about the half.

A hidden gem in South Sulawesi! Rammang Rammang is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places I have ever visited in Indonesia. Surrounded by stunning karst mountains, rivers, and green rice fields, the scenery feels like something out of a dream. The local people are friendly, and the boat ride through the karst forest is a must-do experience. Perfect for nature lovers, photographers, or anyone who wants to escape the city and relax in nature. Highly recommended!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Embark on an unforgettable boat tour through stunning karst formations, charming villages, serene rivers, and mysterious caves. Each boat accommodates up to 4 people and costs around 200K Rupiah. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking—perfect for capturing those Instagram-worthy moments! This spot is a photographer’s dream. While I recommend sticking to a few key villages (extra charges apply for more), the entire experience is a must-do for any adventure seeker. Overall, it’s an amazing trip you won’t want to miss!
The access to the village is through boat rides which will cost you around IDR 200k per boat. Pricing has been set on a fixed price which is nice. I recommend you to wear the farmers type hat. It's very sunny and bright with almost zero shade. Unfortunately the boardwalk is in need of maintenance. And there's need to be more waypoint.
I absolutely loved Rammang-Rammang. The natural scenery is incredibly beautiful. It truly feels like time has stood still there the “Jurassic Park” comparison fits perfectly. The boats that take you around are authentic, and we did the evening tour so we could watch the bats flying out, which was an amazing experience.
Rammang Rammang Karst Village, located in South Sulawesi, is a stunning natural destination known for its dramatic limestone karst formations and picturesque landscapes. The village offers a peaceful and scenic escape, with activities like boat rides along the river that runs through the karst mountains, providing breathtaking views of the surrounding area. The village itself is charming, with traditional houses and a relaxed atmosphere. It’s a perfect spot for nature lovers, photographers, and those looking to experience rural life amidst some of Indonesia's most beautiful karst scenery.
Wauw, a beautiful place to visit and walk around, even without a guide, on maps dot me which is free you download the map and Use it without wifi, all the walking paths and sight are on this app. But without a english speaking guide its even more fun. Boat to ramang ramang 200.000 IDR wit 4 people, ticket entrance 15.000 pp entrance caves bleu cristal 5000 pp Enjoy. Watch your steps on the wooden pathways above the water, walk there where you can see the nails!!! face & Inst Tompie Limbo
It was amazing. Karast stone the bigger one in south Sulawesi and second bigger in the world. Looks amazing you must visit
Recommended for mini adventure! Come here early morning or after 4pm unless the sun will burn your skin. The boat price is only 200k.

A must visit if you are in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The place tells you the history of the first mankind existence. There are many caves (leang), but to enter you have to accompany with a tour guide. Please take responsibility to keep the clean in the area. The is also a museum in the area to getting now more about leang-leang.
A Unique stone garden. People tend to just focus on photographing the limestone constellation, it is beautiful but the history lies in the caves. Hand stencils and animal painting made by prehistoric humans is actually the main attractions here. The museum even though really small but the display is international quality. Such an interesting and comprehensive and modern approach of a museum.
Gorgeous and well-kept place. Only required a small donation to the volunteer who unlocked the gates for us and gave us a mini tour. Easy walk in the park except for the part by the cave paintings, that section is elevated, you have to climb rocks a little bit, there are no harness or railings on that part so you have to be careful.
Tourist scam Entrance fee 35k and then you need to pay additional amount for the key guard.. All cave has a restricted access if you want to see the paintings you need to pay more.. You can see one "hand shape" painting from the ground The place is just a big garden (nice one) with stones.. Super luxury washroom Full of locals trying to take the best instagram/tiktok pics
It is a fantastic geological site that is very well maintained. It's about 2 hours' drive from Makassar. From the entrance itself, you can see the incredible limestone formations up close. Entrance fee is Rp10.000. If you use the public parking opposite the entrance, it is Rp3.000. The further you walk, the more impressive it gets. However, it is advisable that proper shoes are worn if you want to venture further into the limestone karst hills. If you are satisfied with a simple sightseeing trip with maybe a picnic with family and friends, there are several areas to do so. A small stream flows within the park, and it lends soothing background sounds. On the day I visited, the park was not crowded.
Leang-leang is a fantastic archaeological park for a family tropical vacation. The prehistoric cave paintings and other historical sites are truly breathtaking. It's an incredibly humbling experience to learn about early human history. Pro Tip: To make the most of your visit, hire a guide. They can unlock the gates to the cave paintings and open the museums, which are otherwise kept locked.
Nice place! But sadly we can't enter the museum without permission (not open for public) the museum only open to those with special purposes (content, research, academic, etc) *cmiiw
Love this place, so beautiful. So many historical site.

The bridge is sadly closed due to repair work. Not recommended during August since everything is dried out.
An outstanding sky bridge at the karst ecosystem of Bantimurung Bulusaraung National Park. An extra option to spend time while visiting Bantimurung waterfall.
