Great gardens and outdoor space. Not a full on formal Japanese water garden but a greater oriental influenced space combining colours, shaping and thoughtful planting and curation that captures the essence of a Japanese space. Adorable 💕
We went on a weekday in early may but the garden was busier than I had expected and there was a good 10 minute wait at the ticket office. The parking is a bit strange as you have to go to a public car park on the other side of a road and walk through a tunnel to reach the entrance. The gardens and the plant sales area were very interesting but not at their best when we visited. It’s basically a linear walk up one side of the watercourse and then back the other side; some of the vistas over the lakes are quite spectacular. We did a 200km round trip to visit and judged it worthwhile.
Incredible, big Japanese gardens with plenty of trees and shade, so if you start to get sunburnt, you can just walk a few metres and go in the shade to cool down. Not very busy as it was a weekday, but I’d imagine it could get pretty busy on weekends and public holidays. All in all, great place to visit if you are in Maulévrier or surroundings.
Beautiful tranquil garden. Lovely tea room at top with huge choice of teas ( and other drinks) and good selection of pastries
Beautiful and well worth a visit...it takes a few hours to get the highlights. I really enjoyed and Its a must see for garden lovers.
Delightful visit, full of eastern (Japanese) promise.
Beautiful place to be with some extraordinary Bonsay/Trees Worth to visit and wonder around
We visited for Easter Sunday, and we weren't the only ones planning on going. Parking was hard to find, it took us about 15 minutes. Then the line was incredibly long, if you see a line coming out of the entrance just purchase them online and you'll skip the line entirely (that's what we did). Once in, we went against the crowd and were able to take really nice picture with minimal people in the foreground. Most of the cherry blossoms were gone but some were still in bloom. It's a really beautiful garden that you can get lost in for hours. If you don't like crowds don't go during the holidays, especially in Spring.
