What a stunning & incredibly well-kept castle! The castle is absolutely beautiful inside and out, the garden is small but kept up well, the views are sweeping, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the food and espresso are delicious! We visited on a cold & rainy day, and the cafe area was heated with a heat lamp and a wood-burning fire, creating the perfect ambiance for a cozy meal. We hiked the nearby lakes afterward. All in all our family of 4 really enjoyed our day at Burg Berwartstein & I’d love to take extended family there when they visit us from the states. (We went in winter and there was not a guided tour, but rather a self-paced tour, which was ideal for us.)
We needed 20 individuals for a tour of the Castle. We were just 6 and disappointed. There is a coffee place and a Souvenir shop before you enter the Castle. There car park is about 200 meters away and the path to the Castle is very assessable. There are many hikes and walks around this area. There are people living in this Castle. It is quite a relaxing place even if you come only for cake and coffee. The guided tour and self your is same fee of 7 euros.
One of the few privately owned castles still in existence. Lots of information with the tour guide. Self guided tours are also available, as well as overnight stays and a traditional "Rittermahl" are offered on special days. This castles history goes back to the year 1152 on the first ever mentioned recordings on paper but is suspected to be a lot older. Well worth a stop and enjoy the view from the top level.
Beautiful castle with a Cafe in the courtyard. $7€ for the ticket and it's self guided. The last 100m or so is underneath the castle and is very dark!
Amasing historical castle, some of the rooms are closed you cant visit them all, but still an amasing experience.. the history there and the vibes may be hard for someone to experince ( there are some Torture machines to see)..
Easy to reach castle and interesting history. Beautifully rebuilt after partial destruction in the past.
I have to pay 7 euro entrance,by my self without guidance and was not allowed to visit all the castle ...
Absolutely DO NOT bother going here. A total waste of time and money. We came just after lunch and figured we’d get a quick bite to eat at the cafe before going in. Ordered potato soup. The place was deserted and after 45 mins we still had no food. After asking they then slowly brought out each bowl one by one separated by 5 mins. BTW the food wasn’t fresh made so it took 45 mins to dish up a small portion. While we waited someone in our group shopped and wanted to buy an item. The person started to help then took a call and started peeling apples for 10 mins chatting away before she gave up buying it.
