During the hiking trail you would encounter a lot of local houses and their farm animals inducing buffalos, chicken, ducks and sheep. Some of the house dogs could be quite alert when other dogs pass by, but they are all friendly to humans. It is not a difficult trail but still some of the parts are quite wet and muddy. Better prepare a pair of sport shoes.
Nagarkot Panoramic Hiking offers stunning mountain views, lush trails, and peaceful surroundings. Perfect for nature lovers, it provides a refreshing experience, beautiful sunrise vistas, and a great escape into Nepal’s scenic beauty.
Its a trail which actually follows a wide track meant to be developed into a road in future. A good one indeed. Not very long, has some breathtaking views. Do it on a morning when skies are clear. During monsoons, there could be some narrow streams enroute, easy to cross. The hidden view point on the trail is a track bend where views are wonderful. If you start from the Northern end, hot cups of tea could be had at the end with several small eateries and restaurants.
Serene and scenic trek located near Kathmandu, Nepal — breathtaking views of the Himalayan mountain range, including glimpses of Mount Everest on clear days. This trail winds through charming hill villages, terraced fields, pine forests, and peaceful ridgelines.
Combine Nagarkot scenic panoramic trail with the Nagarkot nature trail in a two to two and a half hour circuit walk. Started at Hotel Country Villa. Followed main road north for a few hundred metres to Unkai resort. Follow the path on the left side of Unkai resort down the spur until you reach the dirt road under the high voltage electrical tower. Take a right turn and follow the track south. There is the potential for panoramic views east provided there is no smog. Visibility was poor for me. There are lots of birds to been seen along this section of the walk. When you get close to Nagarkot you will see more larger buildings. At the first fork in the road take the right fork and start climbing towards the town. You will pass the primary school and then keep climbing until you reach the main road. Follow the main road north for a short distance and you will see the secondary college on the left. The nature trail starts on the left side of the road after the secondary school. There is a sign there. Follow the nature trail in a north westerly direction for about five hundred metres until you see a trail climbing up the hill on the right hand side. Climb up this trail and it will take you back to the main road. Follow this north for a few hundred meters to arrive back at the starting point. Two hours with plenty of stops for bird watching. You can see my route on Alltrails app under the Nagarkot to Kattike Nature trail map.
It has always been on my radar, and even though I haven't had the chance to do any extensive hiking there yet, my recent visit to simply check out the famous views left me absolutely speechless.
This is a must activity 😊 very little effort for a huge reward. It is advisable to wear water proof shoes 👟 as at times there are very wet patches. The local people along the path are amazing and even the goat 🐐 or cattle herder spoke a little English. I love Nepal 🇳🇵
Sooo, I had much expectations but at the end it's not that good. Nature is nothing crazy in that area . Although I have to say that is a excellent way to see the country side villages and people lifestyle. I have added the pictures I have done in The NICEST places. We have done the route passing by the waterfall bridge. After the bridge there's a place call coffee and resort ( it's not at all a resort and there's no coffe !!!!) but they have some food and drink , fair price. No need for gide ... Google worked for us . We took a taxi from Kathmandu untill the closest point to the panoramic hiking hill point. There's not indicators during the route !!! No tourist also . Again, Nature, honestly not worth to do if what you want is to enjoy from new nature. There's nothing different in comparison with a European forest.. (I'm spanish and my husband french ) Everything is polluted and ravish everywhere like in the rest of the country.

“Nagarkot Viewpoint is one of the best places to experience breathtaking Himalayan panoramas, especially during sunrise and sunset. The peaceful atmosphere, fresh mountain air, and unobstructed views of snow-capped peaks make it a must-visit spot near Kathmandu for nature lovers and photographers.”
Overcrowded! You lose all the fun and excitement you go with in anticipation of having a view of the Everest with the first sight of the crowd. There's just one tower over which you need to climb over the ladder and you need to wait and wait to climb it. If you are lucky and the weather is clear, you will get a view of the horizon, else it's just a waste of time coming here. There are better viewpoints around, avoid this
Very scenic point to witness Sunrise and Sunset at the same location. One can reach within 1 hr from Kathmandu City centre. Beautiful countryside can be enjoyed while traveling to this place.
A quick but worthwhile visit. The trail is easy, and once you reach the tower you get a wide panoramic scene of hills and forests. Great for sunrise or sunset if you want a calm environment.
We booked a private sunrise view tour and the driver picked us on time at 4.30 am. But the sun has already risen before we reach this place. The good news was all the visitors had already left and we had the whole tower to ourselves. We climbed up the tower and the view was so stunning. It would have been perfect if the clouds did not block Mt Everest. But we are grateful that it was not raining or too cloudy.
A very famous tourist spot in Nagarkot. Very nice place with exquisite view of Himalayan Range.
The popularity of trekking and mountaineering in the Himalayas led to the rise of tourism in Nagarkot during the 1970s. Structure: ◉ The Nagarkot Geodetic Survey Tower (which is a 30 foot or so iron tower with a small deck) is a notable landmark situated on a hilltop. At approximately 2,195 meters above sea level, it is found at the edge of the ridge. Mode of transportation and Distance: ◉ Nagarkot's main town is approximately 3 km away from this place. Taking the public bus requires walking for 25-30 minutes on paved roads. You can also take a taxi from the bus stop to get to the tower. Road’s condition: ◉ Being situated at a high elevation, the tower is an ideal spot for capturing panoramic views. Accessing the tower can be a challenge because of the narrow roads leading up to it. Because these roads are shared by both vehicles and pedestrians, it can lead to congestion since they are not wide enough for two vehicles to pass simultaneously. To navigate through, temporary driveways must be created. The access roads are in poor condition; they are gravelly and bumpy because of lack of maintenance, negligence, and delays. Experience at Tower: ◉ Once inside the tower, visitors can take in stunning views that would otherwise be blocked by the hills and trees surrounding them from the ground up. Clear days allow for far-reaching observations of Magnificent Mount Everest due to the tower's significant enhancement in visibility. In the surrounding area, there is a plethora of lush greenery, terraced fields, and picturesque villages. ◉ While the observation tower itself provides an excellent viewing platform, there are some safety concerns associated with its structure; climb through ladders (steel staircase in the tower is steep). Additionally, there is an entry fee required to access the tower. ◉ The tower's vicinity has its own set of difficulties. The natural beauty of the location is detracted from due to an obvious accumulation of rubbish on one side of the ground. Despite there being shops and eateries available along the road leading to the tower, their lack of electricity may limit their offerings. Visitors can still appreciate the natural coolness of the area, even with these drawbacks. Ideal time to visit: ◉ Between October and April is when the best time to visit is. The weather during this period is relatively clear and dry, which creates the ideal conditions for sightseeing and photography. Activities to take part in Nagarkot View Point Tower: ◉ Sunrise and sunset Viewing ◉ Nature photography ◉ Hiking to Changu Narayan, a UNESCO world heritage site ◉ Mountain biking ◉ Bird watching ◉ Cultural village tour ◉ Meditation and yoga retreat Camping Note: ◉ Although the entire hilltop area is part of an army camp, most people and vehicles can pass through without issue, except for occasional stops for random checks.
The view from Nagarkot is amazing, but the Nagarkot Tower is in very unsafe condition. The metal structure is old, rusted, and has no proper stairs. People have to climb through thin rods like in a construction site, which is dangerous for children, elders, and normal visitors. The area below is also poorly maintained with broken fences. Despite being a major tourist attraction, the tower is not accessible or safe for most people. It urgently needs renovation and proper safety measures.

A beautiful and peaceful Buddha park atop a very small hill. The park is very well maintained with facilities like washrooms and chairs and there is no entry fee. The Buddha Statue itself is so beautiful and Golden in colour. There's ample parking space just opposite. A good place to spend some quality time with family.
A quick stopby place in Nagarkot, a beautiful Buddha with a mountain view. There are shops around for quick eateries. Well maintained and there is a sun rise point behind this place.
A calm slice of paradise in the mountains. Bit of a tourism trap, but can appreciate the intention. Free to enter, climb the stairs and sit for a spell under Buddha's warm gaze. Take in the view across the valley, breathe to the rhythm of the prayer flags, and capture a couple of pics for Instagram along the way. Depending on how long you wish to sit, this could be either 5 mins or an hour. Small shops available for water or a snack.
I like this place because I live nearby. There is a small cafe and restaurant as well. The bus that travels between Nagarkot and Bhaktapur stops here. It would be a nice place to get away from dusty Kathmandu for a couple of hours. It's also walking distance from Nagarkot. It's close to the suspension bridge which is also worth a visit.
Buddha Peace Park, located on the way to Nagarkot from Kathmandu, is a serene and peaceful destination with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain range. The park has a beautiful Shakyamuni Buddha statue seated on a lotus throne, overlooking the landscape. It is free to visit, the park allows visitors to enjoy a quiet, meditative atmosphere, perfect for a break or a peaceful hike.
From here you see Kathmandu Valley, terraced farmlands, and on clear days even higher Himalayan peaks
It's an UNESCO site. Beautiful location maintained reasonably well. Architecture is quite cool. There is an entry fee to the place. Beautiful view of the setting sun as well!! The weather during the day is warm and pleasant but dips towards the night. In all you can spend about 30-45 mins. There are some authentic food sold outside this place and it's a must try local delicacy
We hike to Nagarkot and saw the beauty of Buddha Shanti Park (Mountain of Peace). It is incredible and view is majestic. It is worth the hike and we offer prayer as well. When we went, no other visitor so it was so peaceful and quiet. There is also a restroom available in the area and small convenient store if you want to have some coffee or tea. Must visit when you travel to Nepal.
