Long, narrow dam built in 1980 creating a vast lake, known for its views of sunset & distant hills.

I lovely place to stop for a beautiful view and charming café by thewaterside Mid week is deserted. Perhaps busy on the weekends. Bicycles for rent cycle the length of the damn wall
Built in 1980 to prevent flooding, Krasiao Dam is 4,250 meters long, with a height of 32.5 meters, and is the longest earthen dam in Thailand. The place is a tourist attraction, and there are also nearby tent pitches for those who want to spend the night on the spot. There are currently not many parking spaces available, and you walk from the parking lot down the hill towards the pond. There you pass the security guard who organizes parking and who gets past the barrier. There is a cafe by the pond that serves drinks and simple dishes. It is also possible to take a boat trip on the dam, for those who wish. The place is well suited for an excursion, alone, with friends or with the family. It is also possible to move around the area on the other side and upwards of the toilet facility.
A great place to relax and enjoy the evening breeze. Bicycles are available for rent, there is a running track for exercise, and a small convenience store selling drinks and snacks. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed, and there are staff on hand to help with hailing taxis and providing information.
It’s a very beautiful and peaceful place, with a relaxing atmosphere and no crowds. The surroundings are quiet, and you can clearly hear the sounds of many different kinds of animals such as birds, insects, and frogs. The water in the dam is extremely clean and clear, making the whole area feel fresh and natural. There are public restrooms available, and they are reasonably clean. The service fee is only 2 baht. You can take a walk along the top of the dam, enjoying the scenic views and the cool breeze. If you enjoy cycling, you can rent a large bicycle for only 30 baht to explore the dam ridge more easily. The overall vibe is very calm and friendly. The local people are welcoming and easygoing, making visitors feel comfortable and happy.
Whilst visiting the River kwai, Kanchanaburi or other neighbouring areas it is definitely worth to make a stop at this Krasiao Dam, built in 1980 and the biggest earthen dam in Thailand. The entrance, road and area around the dam is amazingly well maintained. It is one lush garden, the road is majestically decorated with lanterns and on top of each of them is an elephant sculpture. Absolutely brilliant
A 4.2km dam that you can walk or ride bikes along. There were some golf cats also but we chose to ride bikes. 8.4km to go and come back so take hats or Sun cream if you plan the full length! Lucky enough to see raptors catching fish very close.
A nice lake. Long dam. Can rent bycicles and take a tour on a electrical golfcar. A nice view point overseeing the landscape
Visited this reservoir after the Covid-19 restrictions were lifted on my way to a distant province in Thailand on 12.06.20. This reservoir offers a spectacular view to the visitors. Fish farming is extensively done in this reservoir. It is worth seeing if you happen to be in Suphanburi, Thailand.
