We started to have interest in American whisky so we searched the internet and found Catoctin Creek distillery Their website is very user friendly, easy to navigate and we booked the free tour. The staff confirmed the appointment immediately and also emailed reminder if the date. The distillery is small, very cozy atmosphere at the main room. We were given the tour by Santiago who is very nice, very knowledgeable and attentive when serving us the flights, the price here is super reasonable, $12.50 for the signature flight including 3 different whisky and you can substitute as well We also learned that they have workshop once in a while (just check their website for the dates) where you can bottle the whisky and personalize with your name on it. We enjoyed so much that we ended up purchasing their BEYOND BOURBON t-shirts and a few bottles to take home, we all particularly love the Hot Honey Rye whisky! Highly recommend to visit, take a tour and taste their fabulous whisky! We will come back to participate in the workshop!!!
I went to the bottling workshop here and it was brilliant! They started with a tour and a whisky history lesson that was well worth the time. Then we bottled up a barrel of whisky (about a dozen of us) working on the production line. I had a blast and recommend that everyone who likes whisky give this place a visit. The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable.
Loved the tasting room and overall incredible tour of the distillery. One of the best distilleries I have been to. Can’t miss stop for a weekend in the Leesburg area.
Took a tour and tasting here and had such a great time! I got to learn how they make their whiskey, gin, and brandy—from start to finish. The staff was absolutely amazing—super helpful, kind, and genuinely welcoming. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend stopping by. Take the tour, do a tasting, and try their fantastic whiskeys, gins, and brandy. Huge thanks to the team for such a memorable experience!"
You know it was pleasant when you leave thinking you want to move there! My partner and I both enjoyed a flight and a drink perfectly prepared and brought to us with warmth and professionalism. And to the owners- The staff really shines bright. They make the place feel special.
Terrific experience from the tour to the tasting. Our tour guide - I'm sorry I cannot remember his name - was excellent. He was polite, informative, gave us a brief history of the distillery, and explained the differences among the three types of alcohol Catoctin Creek produces. I highly recommend - even if you're not a spirit aficionado - that you visit for the history of the distillery if and for a taste of Purcellville VA! Thanks again! SJ
Great fun on father day weekend! Excellent helpful staff, making fantastic rye whiskey. We participated in the Catoctin Creek Distilling Company Bottling Workshops. We got to learn how to bottle, cap, seal, and label Roundstone Rye. I got to operate the "whisky cow", and "Ninette", the fancy French labeling machine! My family made bottles of whiskey for my father's day! There was a light breakfast, an outstanding tour from Scott, the bottling workshop activity, and a free tasting of various products at the end. Highly recommend!
Attended the Bottling Workshop and Tasting Session. Great history overview. Fun bottling experience with the opportunity to fill and complete bottles to buy and keep. Delicious tasting session. Highly recommend a visit to this local distilling store. Owners are very approachable and knowledgable.

Wholeheartedly recommend. Pros: - Nice dry wines with full flavor - which can be hard in VA to produce. Also has sweet options, including sangria. - Pet friendly both outdoors and inside; they even have an area that you can be inside with your pet! This is quite unique for VA wineries/breweries. - Personal food only outside, but once you finish eating your food outside you can move about wherever you like. You can sit wherever if you buy their food. - They had a variety of seating arrangements outside. They even had a large tent area for groups - Friendly staff, who were patient and helpful when picking a wine to suit your tastes. - Live music - visited on a Sunday afternoon, and live music until 5pm! - Beautiful scenery, and a large amount of their own grapes. - Inclusive food menu with beyond burger as an option for Vegan/Vegetarians. Opportunities: - Water; as mentioned in other reviews, bring your own water or pay $2.50/bottle (Aug 2025). They did also have other non-alcoholic drinks. They stated they have "agricultural" water that is not safe to drink. What do they use when washing dishes for cooking in the kitchen? Not sure why they couldn't just install a reverse osmosis sink filtration system or another suitable water filter/water fountain. We can bring our own water but it is a bit mind boggling.
Nice vineyard, plenty of tables and selection of wines. The place was nice, but minus one star for the wines. The best one we had was Chere Marie. Had two different flights and we enjoy the Chere Marie white wine which is similar to Reislings. It has live singer too, overall a fun day with awesome weather.
Overall, the location is gorgeous with a beautiful view. However, the overall experience is pretty subpar. There really is no customer service except behind the main bar. The inside is very nice with live music. If you sit on the outside patio, there is no music. No waitress/waiter checking up on your party, taking orders, picking up trash, cleaning the area, etc. You have a buzzer that lets you know when your food is ready, and you go inside to pick it up. The food is nothing special. Very basic items on the menu that are served in plastic take away boxes. Once you're done with your meals, you have to clean up your own table. Bathrooms are a disaster. Smells like death, dirty tissues everywhere, and dirty stalls. The positives: overall view is beautiful, prices are very affordable, and the customers all seemed very happy. Staff seems friendly. Overall experience: if you want a casual place to sip on wine and eat basic foods for an affordable price with a decent view, check this place out. The overall cleanliness and lack of customer service needs works in my opinion. Check out the pictures for reference.
I had a pretty mixed experience at Breaux. We visited as a group of 12 and were told we couldn’t sit outside on their balcony because of the risk of our “noise” bouncing off the covered roof, which felt a bit off. They also wouldn’t let us split into two smaller groups to make it work, so we had to sit inside. The vibe inside was… interesting. Lots of fake flowers and parrots for their Key West event, which felt out of place at a vineyard in Virginia. I’m not sure why you’d want to pretend you’re at a Florida retirement home when you’re surrounded by beautiful Virginia countryside. A few other odd choices: they don’t offer free drinking water, even though they’re serving alcohol. You have to buy plastic bottled water, which seems irresponsible, especially since everyone has to drive to get there. This alone docked a star—why not offer free tap water? Food came in plastic clamshell containers with plastic cutlery, which felt wasteful. The po boy was just a shrimp sandwich—no battered or fried shrimp and no shredded lettuce as you’d expect from an actual po boy. The charcuterie was pre-made and pulled from a fridge covered in plastic wrap, not fresh or made to order. That said, the staff were friendly, and the wine was decent and relatively reasonably priced (about $30 a bottle, $20 for a tasting). The outdoor grounds were nice too—it’s just a shame we couldn’t enjoy them properly. Overall, it felt like some strange decisions from management took away from what could be a nice experience.
A warm and peaceful afternoon at the winery. Fall was absolutely beautiful, and I can’t wait to see how the other seasons will feel here.
This has to be one of the best vineyards I visited. It has a very beautiful view. They have a very good collection of wine 🍷 We visited during a key west festival and we witnessed a pretty good crowd. Everyone has dressed up very pretty and we had a very beautiful day. Not to forget the bands that played. They were amazing . Overall a best experience. We are definitely going to stop one more before the winters hits.
This is one of our favorite wineries! They are semi-dog friendly inside with only the room on the right by the patio, which was a little warm due to the hot and humid July temps, but better than outside in all of that heat. The wines are delicious, the service is excellent, and the scenery is spectacular!
The wine is excellent, the staff are super knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating, the facilities are pristine, the events are well organized, the food is delicious, and the overall environment is classy and very down-to-earth all at the same time. Parking is easy and organized. Staff are typically waiting to greet customers, provide information, direction, and willing to help. I've been here multiple times. Each time is the same--perfect.

Sunset Hills is a new favorite! We were looking for a place with a cozy interior since it was cold and windy out, and this spot was perfect! That said, I hope we can come back and enjoy the beautiful and plentiful outdoor space once it's warmer. We were able to just walk in and do a wine tasting with ease. The place has a nice cozy ambiance with some live music and several seating areas. The ladies working the bar were very nice and accommodating despite being fairly busy. The tasting was great and we had several favorites, including the 2020 sunset white and the 2021 Rose of Cabernet Sauvignon. The ciabatta bread and asiago cheese spread was delicious as well. Can't wait to come back soon!
As we wound our way through the mountains on another weekend adventure, Sunset Hills was a planned stop—and for good reason. We’d been told not to pass it by, and after visiting, we completely understand why. The stunning architecture, built by Amish craftsmen, sets a warm and inviting tone the moment you step inside. Jeff was fantastic—not only sharing thoughtful details about each wine but also taking the time to understand both of our preferences (one dry, one sweet). He made us feel right at home with recommendations tailored to each of us. Beyond the wine, the menu and atmosphere invite you to linger—sip, share stories, and truly soak in the spirit of a weekend getaway. We can’t wait to come back and discover what other delicious wines they’re pouring next. Each one, we’re sure, will be worth every drop.
Staff at this winery are amazing. They make sure that you are well accommodated including if you have a wheelchair. Wine is always good. Would recommend.
We had a great time here in this winery. The staff was really helpful and the wine tasting list was really nice. The bread was also a gem! We arrived a little late in the day so it was not too packed.
The place is beautifully decorated and the outdoors is lovely, with different spots to sit at, a fountain and much greenery. My only complaint is that for $10.60 a glass I got a very little pour. Maybe it was the few sips of samples I tried before I chose that got calculated in, or the fact that the bottle was completed and the bartender didn’t want to open another one, but I feel that I could have get a bit more generous treatment. Food is quite expensive.
I recently hosted a birthday party at Sunset Hills Vineyard at the recommendation of a friend and could not have had a better time! I wanted to write this review to express my gratitude for my unforgettable experience. Even weeks before my event, Aubry handled my reservation graciously and answered my many questions promptly, helping me to secure a dog-friendly spot for about 10-12 guests total. When I finally arrived on the day of the event, I was floored by how picturesque the property was and how warm and inviting the staff was. My friends and I got so many beautiful pictures! I was greeted by Dave, and he showed me to a charming little shady grove area that they had saved for me. The area was large enough to accommodate probably 15-20 people, and off to the side of property to allow for privacy. Throughout our event, Ben and Zenaya checked on us frequently to make sure we were doing alright and accommodated all of our requests. We also had a chance to do the wine tasting inside, and I personally loved all of the wines! There was not a single bad wine we tried in my opinion. Some of the guests that were also there saw us celebrating and even gifted us some bottles for us to enjoy! All in all, I think this will be a birthday I will never forget. THANK YOU! We will definitely be back :)
Sunset Hills Vineyard is one of our favorite places to go. There are a lot of vineyards to visit in Virginia. The wine is good (not saying it is the best), the atmosphere is welcoming, but what separates it from the rest are the staff. You could not find a friendlier group of people at the Ritz Carlton. If you make the effort to visit, you won’t be disappointed.
What an amazing experience and wonderful winery!!!! From the warm welcome and extensive knowledge of the wines from Kelly to the beautiful landscape and view of the mountains and vineyards and the gorgeous barn and the friendliness from Elizabeth and all the staff, everything was absolutely amazing!!! We did the wine taste tour and every wine was exceptional! You can tell this place takes pride and puts love and care into their wines and establishment and customers. After tasting the wines and the great experience with the staff, I immediately joined the wine club and look forward to many more amazing experiences here and with these amazing wines! Please check this place out, you will NOT be disappointed!!! Exceptional experience!!!!

The setting was lovely, and the staff were exceptionally friendly. The wine flights were fantastic, and I had the largest pretzel I've ever seen. The panini and pickle were both delicious. However, I would have preferred a side salad for some greens over chips.
Beautiful vineyard and great wines! Food was ok, not special, but this place is incredible. I'm here for the cancer can rock benefit musicfest and the music is tip top! Spend a beautiful day among the grapevines and good times.
Lovely winery in Loudoun County! Elegant wines, gorgeous views, and welcoming staff made our first visit a great tasting experience. This family-owned winery has been around since 2012 and has picked up several Virginia Governor’s Cup medals along the way. You can grab a glass, bottle, or do a self-guided flight (with tasting notes) and take it to your seat inside or outside. Lots of outdoor space to relax and enjoy the day (pet and children friendly) We tried the White, Red, and Gold Medal flights, along with a charcuterie board and some truffles. We liked the wines so much we ended up joining the wine club! Clearly we will be back!!!
Beautiful atmosphere and wonderful staff. Our group of 30 people had an amazing time at the vineyard with great live music. Highly recommend!!!
For the most part, we all hope for great wines, right? If so, you've come to the right place! Whites or reds, you won't be disappointed. Add to that the wonderfully friendly and engaging staff, lovely ambiance, a variety of places to sit, gorgeous views and frequent music offerings all add up to being so glad you came. They also have various snack and lunch offerings. We had to come back the next day knowing it was perfect for our weekend getaway.
Friendly staff, reasonably priced wine and easy reservation system for larger groups. Picnic style tables outside, but if the weather is nice, this is a great spot for enjoying your day at a vineyard! They also had live music which was a plus. 868 does allow outside food and their food menu was not only large, but included a variety too! The property is also tastefully decorated and the parking lot is not a far walk from the tasting room and outside seating!
Been here a few times and never disappointed! Quiet, good wines and a good time can be had by all
Lovey grounds and wines. Perfect spot to relax on a beautiful fall afternoon!

One of the best wineries I’ve ever visited! The atmosphere was incredibly charming and peaceful — a perfect blend of natural beauty and thoughtful design. Everything from the scenic views to the attentive staff and the quality of the wine was simply outstanding. It’s the kind of place where you can truly relax, enjoy every sip, and make lasting memories. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a delightful winery experience.
My girlfriend and I had a great time here a few weeks ago. The property is absolutely beautiful. There is tons of indoor and outdoor seating. The rosé was okay—not the best I’ve had but not the worst. Prices are very reasonable. They have free board games inside that you are allowed to use. The only food we tried was the pretzel and it was massive/delicious. Both kid and dog friendly. Definitely recommend checking out!
Overall had a great time. The staff was friendly but at times they did seem uninterested in providing a full-experience. It wasn’t packed when we went- since there was a thunderstorm out, but we did have a great time. Less people the better- and sometimes undivided attention from the staff. We had a couple of their flights, a bottle and took one home. Their food was good too! Definitely recommend!!
Nice winery/brewery in Virginia wine country. We went on a Friday afternoon so it was relatively quiet and sat out overlooking the vines. Wine by flights or the bottle, pub food, prices were reasonable. Staff said it can get very busy on the weekends.
A very nice winery located about an hour away from Tysons Corner. Take Route 267 to Route 7 and then Route 9. Beautiful views of the hills and valley. Winery has solid flights, both medium and bold, and also has a brewery. Sat outside and enjoyed the views and beautiful fall weather. Food was pretty good, ordering inside and then waiting for the buzzer to pick up food from the dedicated window. Nice Greek salad, charcuterie, various flat breads, and delicious stores lava cake. No coffee drinks were the only surprise. Overall good experience and will be back.
Beautiful spot, we ordered the Callate beer, which was perfect on a hot day. The spinach artichoke dip Was fantastic
Excellent views. Excellent wine (for being outside of Charlottesville), excellent top notch knowledgeable staff. 10/10 recommend.
We visited your winery on Monday October 13 for a tasting and lunch. Did not get the young mans name who was doing our tasting and prepared and served our food, he was moving so quickly, but let me sing his praise. He was the only one working there and did an incredible job of taking care of your customers. Very nice and friendly guy. Don't know the circumstances as to why he didn't have help but there was a nice flow of people coming in and he did a fantastic job! He deserves a bonus!!!!

Can’t say enough good things about this place! Prices were reasonable and cheaper than other wineries in the area with generous pours. Staff were friendly and welcoming to our party, and we even got to pet the vineyard dog who roamed around! My favorite part was the covered patio. Unlike some other wineries we’ve been to, there were multiple heaters to keep warm so you don’t have to snuggle with the table next to you for heat. Will definitely be coming back here next time we’re in VA wine country. The Peach Sangria and Mulled wine are a must if you visit!
I've been wanting to visit this winery for a while and am so glad I finally made it. I'm usually a red drinker, but tried a flight of whites and enjoyed each one. My favorite was their viognier, it reminded me of a buttery Chardonnay. I tried their IPA which was also delicious! They had live music and a beautiful outdoor space. ♥️
Had an excellent experience there today... Brandon helped us out with a tasting experience beyond my expectations... talked about the history of the place and how some of their wines came about... talked about the owner, Theresa, getting inspired to put together something out of a reflecting time while she was at her porch, and afterwards, there was a little tour hosted by Brad (Theresa's husband) gave us info on how they would plant and grow their grapes and showed some of the materials and equipment used by them. I was super impressed with the quality of their product and can't wait to get back there once again.
We visited Two Twisted Posts Winery for the first time and were blown away by how beautiful the property is! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcome — especially after being greeted by the sweetest Weimaraner puppy. Even though it was a busy day, the staff was warm, attentive, and made us feel right at home. We opted for the white wine tasting flight and also tried a glass of the peach sangria. The oaked Chardonnay was a standout — smooth, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The sangria was cold, refreshing, and just what we needed on a summer day. We relaxed on the patio, enjoyed some great live music, and soaked in the peaceful atmosphere. This venue has everything — great wine, friendly vibes, and a lovely outdoor space. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!
If this winery was a person, it would be that kind, fun, generous, quirky aunt who you can't wait to visit! She always gets you with real, warm hug, has the best snacks, and slides you a twenty dollar bill when you're parents aren't looking. Two Twisted Posts is a hidden gem with amazing wine, I love my visits here and always tell friends it's a must visit in Loudoun Wine country. Don't miss Don't Call Me a Cab, it's a unique and lovely wine, just like the place that makes it!
This is a great place to go and kick it with friends for a day or for a picnic date. We went one evening and had their wine flights and then a glass after of ones we liked. Their wines are extremely delicious (coming from a guy who is not a wine person) and the hosts are very informative and passionate and will dive into the details of their wines, their tasting notes, history and such. We spent a great evening here. We also had the cracker and cheese basket which they they have on the menu but they do encourage bringing your own snacks/food too. You can also get a close look at their vineyards but please don't touch the fruit! Definitely worth a visit.
Spent a wonderful afternoon enjoying the peach sangria and listening to live music. Staff are super friendly and always willing to serve.
What a wonderful quiet spot to soak up some sunshine and fabulously delicious wine! With a friendly group of staff who are knowledgeable about their wine and history of the vineyard. Wine tasting is a low $10 and well worth the experience to find a new favourite. Wine by the glass and bottle is available. Food options are limited to plates of cheese and crackers which pair well with the wine. Smores kits are available for use with the large fire pit which seats around 10 people. Plenty of seating is available both shared under the barns canopies and picnic benches in the sunshine. LGBT friendly environment.

Great place to visit and have a beer! Their mottois It's hard to find, but even harder to leave. this is exactly true! They have a very large indoor seating area with big screen Tv, large bar and a kitchen with a pretty good menu. They also have food trucks which come to the place. Nice thing about this place is that it's actually a scenic setting. Very beautiful scenery with plenty of outdoor picnic areas. Nice selection of beers on tap and a friendly and knowledgeable staff. Definitely try a flight.
Excellent brewery. A very in-the-know scene that still appreciates accessible beer. Great service and welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended.
I went here for the first time on Saturday the 12th with some friends, and we got there just a little before noon and it was already open. Soon as I walked in, I loved it the rustic charm of the place it just captured me, the dollars on strings the bar just perfect. The beer the best, the chocolate stout, soon as I saw it in the menu board, I knew what I was having, and it was fantastic! The man behind the counter was super pleasant and while I don't recall his name said he was related to the owner but he was efficient and quickly filled our orders. We had the cheese steaks sandwiches which were excellent, and I would love to know who made the potato chips, they were really good! There was a guy who showed up to play music and he was good, a little loud but that's just me I tend not to be in favor of afternoon live music that makes conversation tough but like I said it's just me. I mentioned to the young man behind the counter if I lived closer, I would be there every day. All in all, I can't say enough good things about Old 690 just wished I live next door.
Beer and service are still amazing as always. Would give 5 stars if parents supervised their children or there was a designated safe area for kids. Children were running through the tasting room and out at the fence when we left while parents were drinking and not watching. Sad
Excellent crafted beers. The one man band that was playing inside was great, but it was sooo loud inside. Lucky it was a nice day and we were able to sit on the patio. There was a food truck out back serving up so good looking Thai food.
Very cool place. Good beer and a nice selection of food. The only complaint is that the music is a little too loud and you see people noticeably trying to find seats furthest from the speakers.
Very nice microbrewery tucked away along a dirt road near Purcellville. Good beers - we tried 8 of them - we liked the Gnarly Boar Pale Ale best. The Ol' Man Winter Ale at 8% was also a hit. The hard seltzers were just ok. Staff were very friendly. The setting and building are quite rustic. Good outdoor seating area with a play area for kids. Decent food selections. We tried the nachos and pizza which were quite good. The live entertainment was fine. The microbrewery is off the beaten track but it's worth the trek.
A beer haven in wine country. Not a wine drinker? Enjoy beer? This is the place for you. Beer was excellent, even the styles I don't care for (IPAs, wheat) I could appreciate. You could put the chocolate milk stout in a sippy cup! An enjoyable way to spend a few hours around the fire pit or playing corn hole before/after gambling. Service was good, limited menu (but the website clearly stated that). If they served chocolate chip cookies or pumpkin pie with vanilla ice cream I would have paired it with the appropriate desert beer.

One of the best parks in Loudoun. It’s now much easier to get to from points east with the various construction and engineering projects they’ve done along Route 7 and such. Located just a bit outside of Purcellville, the park offers trails, fishing, an excellent disc golf course that’s around 2 miles walking, several other sporting areas like the tennis/pickle ball courts, hockey rink, pool, baseball/softball fields, soccer/lacrosse fields, and horseshoes, several pavilions throughout, equestrian paths, and the Franklin Park Arts Center, which was home to the first East Coast Bob Ross art exhibit/display. One can spend a few hours or a day here with the various activities. One should note that the sun can be pretty brutal during the summer, and the wind really comes through there like the prairie, which might be alright in the summer, it’s like a Midwestern winter come change of seasons. I really wish Northern Virginia had more parks like this, and would really recommend visiting.
This is a great park, there is a dog park, public pool, tennis court, dek hockey rink, sand volley ball courts and trails. This is a great place to hang out or take the kids. It gets very busy on the weekends due to the pool being a main attraction
Best pool day ever. Very well laid out space. I was able to navigate with 4 kids. Definitely plan to pack lunch. Concessions doesn't have much. But I prefer it that way! Great Public pool!!
Lots of parking. Really poor signage (never did find the pedestrian hiking trail). Appreciated that someone had come to turn the porta-potties right-side up after the heavy winds. Plenty of benches and tables. Kids enjoyed spotting lots of turtles and birds. Nice to see the park being enjoyed by others (picnicking, fishing, playground, pick-up sports, etc.). Happy to have a dog-friendly place we can be outside and explore.
Lovely park. Couldn’t figure out the disc golf course but had a lovely time trying to nonetheless.
Good place to have outside activities such as picnics, hiking, I would consider even to take wedding pictures at the little Kiosk. Would come back here as many times as I could to have a relaxing afternoon with friends, nice drive too if you like short road-trips
This park is pathetic. Tweens driving the county vehicles to harrass people that aren't involved with the overpriced pool, poor upkeep of facilities, no attention to stop signs & people crossing roads. The grounds are unkempt, the porta-potties are nightmares, the dog park has been enlarged to become a bigger mess and the gates have been "fixed" with electrical tape. Avoid.
Great fun for children of all ages. Food and drink on site. The best food and drink in town. Josh at the concession stand is very helpful. The lifeguards are very responsible. Friendly families every where!

Such an awesome trail! I grew up in Reston walking / biking / running various sections. I have even cycles from the Purcellville end down to the end downtown. So many adventures, places to stop, and scenic views!
Really enjoyed my bike ride on this trail. I rode with a group of twenty others cyclists. We rode from Purcellville to Leesburg and back. Approximately 21 miles round trip. The trail was in great shape. There was, however, some debris from a storm the day before. We were there a weekday, so the trail wasn't crowded. Definitely a nice ride. I would love to ride more of the trail.
We started at the Purcelville Trail. There is a public lot, 2hr parking available. The first 2 to 3 miles had a lot of street crossings. After that they were not as frequent. Paved with a yellow divider line Somewhat narrow Very busy with bilers, walkers, runners and baby carriages. Road bikers we all riding very fast as noted in other reviews. Several benches for breaks, a few portable outhouses and bike stations Beautiful scenery
The end of the W&OD Trail. There's nothing really marking it, but it's nicely situated in town attractions and food nearby. Nice bathrooms are in the old train station right next to it, and a water fountain, though it wasn't working. Parking is plentiful and easily accessible with a public lot right next to it and trail lot about 1/2 mile down the trail.
Lovely spot in Purcellville. The Sweet Rose Bakeshop is just across the street, and the fresh cream puffs were delicious! Historical buildings and gardens give the location a great ambiance.
The Purcellville trailhead marks a milestone for many people especially if you start from mile marker 0 in Shirlington and end up here at mile marker 45. The whole trip roundtrip can be a century bike ride if you do a loop into the mount vernon trail and custis trail. This is a pretty flat trail with paved roads. There are pedestrians, runners, cyclists, people on horseback, dogs, roller skaters all throughout this trail. I have personally completed this trail many times on my bike through the years. I haven't explored purcellville too much myself, but it seems like a nice little town. There is a bakery/cafe right in across the street from here where many people stop by to refuel before heading back.
The trail from Vienna onwards going west towards Purcellville is great! A few pointers for new riders or if its your first time in that direction; 1. Spokes is a bike shop a little bit off the trail in Town of Vienna. They are closed on Monday's and Tuesday's. 2. Whole Foods is located right off the trail so you can get drinks or snacks if needed. 3. Reston Town Center is located a little bit off of the trail - you can get food at a good restaurant if you're on a leisure bike ride. 4. Herndon has a bike shop called Green Lizard which is right off the W&OD trailer. Hopefully not but if you find yourself needing bike help, they are great! 5. The trail has a few (not many) water fountains where you can get water from. I say not many because many aren't well maintained. 6. After Town of Leesburg there isn't much available in terms of a gas station etc that is located right off the trail. So if you need too top off water etc. this is your last place. 7. On the way from Leesburg to Purcellville you are forced to take the side of the road with vehicles so be careful...it isn't for long, maybe 0.5 miles or less. One other thing to note is that the trail from here onwards is a little bumpy because of tree roots..so be careful. 8. When you get to Purcellville, which is where the W&OD trail ends, there is a bakery called Sweet Rose Bakeshop. I did this and I would highly recommend that you get a bakery item and/or a drink (Gatorade, coffee, etc). The other benefit of going to this place is that you get to use their clean restroom! 9. Make sure you have good lights on your bike since the trail does not have lights. Sorry for this lengthy review but I really wish I knew some of these things for my first ride out that way. Have fun and stay safe!
Enjoyed stopping here before turning around and heading back to Leesburg. Be sure to try the baked goods at the bakery across the street.

My husband myself and my daughter went to eleven eleven brewing all the way from Pennsylvania. The name itself intrigued me. The food was amazing, portions were large and the price was wonderful. The selection of beers was exceptional, with something for every palate. I highly recommend trying their 50 shades of gold which was perfectly balanced and had a unique flavor profile that left me wanting more. Each brew was crafted with precision, showcasing the incredible talent and passion behind every batch. I had the pleasure of meeting the owners Marianne and Matt. Such wonderful hardworking people who were helping their staff behind the bar and by taking orders and serving food. You could tell how happy and proud they are of their establishment. Overall, Eleven Eleven Brewing offers a perfect blend of amazing beer, great ambiance, and top-notch customer service. Whether you’re a beer enthusiast or just looking for a place to relax, this is a must-visit!
We stopped in while hitting a lot of the local breweries. Belly Love has a great location. It's in a small area of shops and is surprisingly large inside. I liked the ambience of the place. The bartender was friendly. The beer was decent. We ordered a flight so we could try a bit of the menu. We didn't have any food but what we saw looked good. It's a pleasant place to spend an afternoon.
Great little brewery! Stopped in randomly to check the place out cause I've heard about it from family members in the area. Turns out this place was really nice. The beer was very refreshing but they didn't have many options to choose from. They offer a couple of different food choices, like flat bread pizza and a pretzel but it's not somewhere you could have a meal. The interior is really nice and very clean with plenty of seating. They also offer outside seating where you can watch the walking shopping center. All in all this place was pretty decent and we really enjoyed it.
Off-beat in the best of ways. IPA folks can look forward to 104 IBU “Flying Unicorn Crotch Kick,” jalapeño peach “Resting Peach Face” with a salted rim for parrot heads and “Narcissist” for the purists with a cultured palette.
Beer was delicious but also the hospitality was absolutely amazing I felt like I was a real customer here and they connected with me and talk to me about what I like and let me find exactly what was needed and I ended up with the fifty shades of Gold Belgian ale, come check this place out ⭐✌️👍
We dropped in on Belly Love on a whim after seeing a sign on the roadside. Immediately we were well attended by Dom , one of the employees there. He walked us through their offerings and was a real pleasure to work with. I tried their new double IPA that they had just released the day before and it was excellent. We also ordered their jumbo pretzel to compliment the beer. All good. The atmosphere was good and there was a steady flow of customers while we were there. We felt that they did a very good job of paying attention to their customers. I would definitely go there again.
Definitely a great place to hang out and unwind from a long arduos work-week. I enjoyed a flight of their selected beers on tap with some jerked pizza (I think). Great atmosphere and great brews!
A nice place to enjoy a draft or two. They at least offered flights so you could try all of their beers. I really like the lager, the IPA, “My Bitter Ex” and the coconut porter. Tasty! A chill place to visit. Great customer service from some loud and active ladies serving good beer. I will return! The pretzels looked good too!

A small but good Brewer in downtown Purcellville about 200' from the W&OD trailhead. Nice place to cool down before heading back down the trail. The have a small repertoire of beers but all quite tasty, with several that rotate regularly. My favorite is their "breakfast beer", an amazing oatmeal stout.
Wanted to love this place but I couldn’t get behind the beers. The location is awesome, the bar tender was super sweet and awesome. The beer had too much dark roasted malt in all of them and kind of had a taste of ash. Also the tasters are $4 (expensive where I come from). The mango habanero was mostly habanero but I’m ok with that as I love hot beers. Also they have a large space upstairs that is cool. Cool place but the atmosphere doesn’t justify the price of the beers.
In a county full of over-flavored, mediocre beer, this place actually delivers balance. Every beer I tried was well hopped and very tasty. Malt flavors were checked properly.
A nice little brewery in the middle of Purcellville. Good variety of beer and all were well made. My favorite was the stout on nitro. My wife loved the raspberry wit, which I agree was well done and tasty. Decent amount of seating and right around the corner from market burger, so the perfect lunch spot.
Great location in historic Purcellville; owners have great stories about the location's history. I tried a flight, like I do at the new breweries I visit, and, a rare event, every brew was fantastic. They said they're putting up a "heavy Scotch Ale" this fall; I will be back for that.
Walked in yesterday and was warmly greeted by the bar staff, Amy and Laura, and owner, Eric. They were quick to suggest some free tasters so I could get a good sense of their beers. The ones I tried were really great, some of the best I've had from the local craft breweries in NoVa. The afterburner mango habanero IPA was excellent and left some heat on the edge of your tongue but was nicely offset by the mild sweetness of the mango. Jack's magic IPA is like a delicious West Coast style IPA, with balanced hoppiness and nice citrus aromas and flavor. Other highlights were the nitro oatmeal stout and saison. Highly recommended!
The service is impeccable and the beer is great. With six beers on tap of different styles, I cannot wait to see what rotates through next. I couldn't decide between The Afterburner, Berry Wit, orHappy Ending Cream Ale to fill my growler.
Stopped in here on Friday night. Had the mango habenaro as a suggestion from the bartender. It was well balance and delicious. I had an absolute blast playing Trivia. The host Melissa was hysterical and her questions completely original, she certainly has the personality for it! Hoping to make it in for the next trivia round and try another brew! Update: I'm not really new to reviewing, just a new email address after a hacking incident. Emailed this business several weeks ago and have heard nothing but crickets. Ended up hitting up World of Beer with some out of town guests since they also have trivia. It was a bit more run of the mill trivia, not nearly as fun, but overall decent.

My family and I took part in the first hike today. We haven't been to this new park before today. It is still being developed. Our group was led by a staff member. She stopped offen to explain the features of the park. I need to buy the senior pass so I can come back often.
Formerly the Blue Ridge Center of Environmental Stewardship, Sweet Run State Park is one of Virginia’s newest State Parks featuring miles of hiking and equestrian trails, a fish pond, interpretive center, gift shop, and play area.
Sweet Run State Park is still in the development stages of it's Master Plan. We came in the entrance which only has 4 parking spots and checked the signage and map and decided to drive down to the Sawmill entrance, because we wanted to hike the upper and lower sweet run trails. The parking for a regular car is $10, which is a lot for what the park is right now. Only a few VA State parks are $10 to park and they're the most popular ones ie First Landing, Lake Anna, Sky Meadows etc. If we didn't have an annual pass I doubt we would be back. The sawmill entrance is mostly for horse trailers with a few regular spots for cars. There is a portapotty and one picnic table at the sawmill entrance. The Upper Sweet Run Trail is very nice and well cleared. The trail signage is new, beautiful and well marked. The Lower Sweet Run Trail was not cleared or mowed and very narrow. The Lower Sweet Run Trail has 2 places where you are required to cross the stream and there are no stepping stones, boardwalk or bridge. The stream is approximately 4-6 feet across and even though we read other reviews that stated we needed water proof shoes we weren't prepared for walking directly in the water, especially with a six year old. It seems the park, at the moment, is geared more towards equestrian trail goers and on the narrower trails it's hard to avoid horse manure (this may be due to the entrance and trails we picked, but I feel like people need to be aware.) Also, it's important for us to note the park is in a highly tick infested area and even with the proper clothing and protection we still had about 5-15 ticks on each of us at the end of the hike, so be aware when hiking with kids and dogs. We are interested in hiking the Farmstead and Legacy Loop if we were to go back.
A newer park that is still under development Loudoun heights but has gorgeous scenery.
I love it here! Very well marked trails and each bend is unique! Great hiking somewhat convenient to the DMV area.
The "Butterfly Walk" is free but $10 to park....and bring cash as the payment setup is awkward at best. A couple of Master Naturalists were on hand. I felt like the presentation at the outset vould have been better and more engaging.
Beautiful new state park. Good selection of easy and moderate trails. Some facilities are still under development but there are porta potties and restrooms. Friendly rangers. Limited parking but easily able to get a spot on a sunny November weekend morning.
Good little park and not busy. I had some extra energy after hiking Maryland Heights and stopped by this park on my way home from Harpers Ferry. I hiked the farmstead loop trail, which is a mixed use trail, but I was the only person out there. I liked the park so much I bought a yearly pass and look forward to coming back.

Went to a Cannon game on a weeknight. Stands were full, but seat were available. Good selection of food, drinks, and snacks. Lots of extracurricular activities in between innings. The small ball is awesome to watch.
Went to watch a college summer league game. Nice crowd, my guess would be over 1,000 people. Normal ballpark concessions, but they also had food, ice cream, and a bar vendor setup. Had different activities for kids between innings. Fun environment, would go back. Home team loss. :(
Nice ballpark that is great for the family.
Fun place to see the Purcellville Cannons and pay a small price for a ticket, drink, and even hot dog! Chill vibe, very close enjoyment to the game, and easy parking!
Went to the wine festival here. It was well laid out, with lots of shade. Good variety if booths. Family had a good time.
A great place to catch a ball game with friends and family. There's not a bad seat, food and drinks are affordable, the music is not too load, the parking is free. More importantly, the quality of baseball is good and there is a fun, small town feel. Bring cushions to sit on, a glove and ball, and enjoy yourself.
Best place to watch valley league baseball!
A great small town venue, especially for baseball. Just south of the main drag in Purcellville, it is conveniently located. Oozes quaint charm. Could use more parking though. Still, I recommend it.

My wife and I have been going to Bozzo for the past 6 months and we love the wine and the atmosphere. The wine is excellent! We mainly enjoy red wine but also really like their Lisa white wine. Their new Say What red blend is spectacular and is our new favorite. We have had wonderful conversations with Steve the owner, the staff, and the other wine club members. They are dog friendly, which is very important to us. We have found a new home winery in Bozzo!
We landed in Charles Town for a family wedding and had some time to explore the area. Winery hopping sounded like a good idea so we started driving east. Bozzo was our first stop and we thought the wines were amazing and were excited to try neighboring wineries. We ended up realizing that we stumbled upon the best one first. Bozzo wines were refined, well balanced, and (comparatively) wonderfully priced for the quality. We are so glad that we found this place and if we're ever in this part of the country again, we'll definitely come back. The owner (winemaker) was a delight to speak with and we are so glad that he opted to embark upon his retirement job of winemaking so that the rest of us can enjoy a quality bottle of wine. Cheers!!
We did the wine tasting and got some delicious local cheese, bread and prosciutto. The wines were really good. We loved a lot the Viognier and got to try a wine from a grape that we had never heard of called Petit Manseng. The service was great and we had the pleasure to meet the owner who is also the wine maker. He is passionate about wine and was telling us about his journey. The estate is also a fabulous place to enjoy your wine while looking at the vineyard.
I'm going to start by saying that all 8 wines, 4 whites and 4 reds, are excellent! The 9th and 10th options, which are meads, are also delicious. The staff is so friendly, the facility so well designed, and the environment completely inviting. One of my pics is of three fine folks who helped pick and bottle their B3. I hope Lowkey is there when you visit. Such a cute and friendly pup! This is a MUST VISIT winery on your tour!!
Cozy atmosphere. Outdoor and indoor seating. Indoors is small. It was very hot the day I visited so we stayed indoors. Upstairs in the loft. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Military discount
Has a wonderful time at this quaint winery last month with my sister. The wines are fab, owner great to chat with and very knowledgeable--purchased Lisa Sav Blanc to bring home to UK--highly recommend!
Good wine! We had trouble choosing between the B3 and 2A as we really enjoyed both of them. Small indoor seating area and outdoor seating available. Pizza looked yummy.
Just go! Bozzo is a great new VA winery!! Friendly staff too. We did a tasting and all were excellent. Generally not fan of white wines, but pleasantly surprised. Reds are some of the best in the area. Also, Google should remove the 3 star review that was posted before they even opened or tried the wine. Ignore that one!

We had a great time picking pears at this orchard. Unfortunately, they are out of apple's for the season, but the pears are very ripe, delicious, juicy and sweet! We are looking forward to keep coming back here!
They had a good number of trees and a very reasonable price for the pick your own. There was good signage to get you to where the fruit was as well. The orchard itself needed a little upkeep such as mowing and removing broken and downed branches.
The lady there was extremely rude and was looking at us as if she’s ready to throw hands if we didn’t turn off the car engine. Context: We did not know they wanted customers’ car engines shut at the parking lot. We had literally just driven in and asked a male whether cherries were ready (who was neutral and nice). Not even a minute in as we were trying to ask him this time whether the peaches were ready, the lady comes out of nowhere real close to our window (she has something in her hand) and yells at us to turn off the engine. When we said we had literally just arrived and were just about leaving (which is why our car is still on), she looked at my family so pissed and says “THEN LEAVE”. Not even as a business but as a grown person, one would think basic manners and courtesy for a potential customer would be normal, but not here. I understand it’s their property but we entered seeing a “Pick Ur Own” sign. Thanks for ruining our day.
We used to go there each year 5 to 10 years ago. A lot of great memories, but the orchard wasn't good this year. Picking apples this year was mostly trying to find a handful of apples that were edible. Many trees had lost all their leaves (which I found odd being just late September) all the apples are blotchy. Trees and apples seem to be over-sprayed with pesticide. I spoke with the person at the cash register and he explained that they had a very poor bloom this year and that only 20% of the blossoms were out. I hope they have a better season next year.
Went there this past weekend! So happy to report there are still a ton of apples!!!!!!! And they delish! Highly recommend!
The earlier you arrive there better . Apple cider was sold out after 4.00pm. And the parking space was full. Yet managed to get in walking, and collect "some apples" (not much good ones are left in the trees!). It's a bargain if you get any @ 1$ per Ibs.
Very reasonably priced pear picking. The pears are very ripe, delicious, juicy, and sweet! Enjoyed talking to the owner, a very kind, wise person. We loved our visit and are looking forward to coming back here! Removing occasional thorn branches on the ground would make the picking experience even more pleasant. Thank you, owners, for such a great experience!
Very fairly priced apple picking. Be weary that the orchard has a very spooky-haloweenesque feel to it. The trees are very grey, but the apples are sweet. I reccomend wearing long pants as the grass is pretty tall, and easy for ticks.
