This was my first time on a swamp tour and it was a 10/10 experience. The pricing was excellent. The scenery was beautiful and we saw so many gators and various bird species. We got close enough to get great pictures. Mr. Jimmy was our guide and he was knowledgeable/very engaging. To anyone that’s wondering should they book: don’t hesitate, book now!
Absolutely wonderful experience!!! We have made a lot of tourist spots and experiences around all of Louisiana, and this is our absolute favorite. Beautiful scenery, wildlife, friendly knowledgeable guides, who go out of their way to make sure you get the best possible experience and tour. I can’t describe to you the experience in a way that will do it justice…. Just absolutely amazing. We came in for the ten o’clock tour. In late October, so the weather was great, we did see all kinds of wildlife including a dozen gaters and all manner of birds. The price is outstanding!! $50 for two people!! Tell where else you get and hour + tour for that kind of money! The gift shop is welcoming and souvenirs very affordable. Drinks refreshments and even cold beer are available!! Please don’t miss out on this. It’s fun for any age!! Restroom facilities, and plenty of parking for any size rig or RV. We highly recommend.
We had an unforgettable swamp tour, thanks in large part to our captain, Brandan, whose knowledge of alligators is both impressive and… persistent. We now know exactly how many teeth an alligator has, because Brandan made absolutely sure we’d never forget. He told us not once, not twice, but three separate times. Brandan also complimented my hair, which automatically earns him at least one extra star. A captain who knows alligator dentistry and recognizes great hair? A rare combination. One of my personal highlights of the entire swamp experience was the restroom. Yes — the restroom. If you’ve ever visited a swamp attraction and thought, “This place is great, but I wish the bathroom felt like a mild spiritual experience,” then look no further. And I have to give a shoutout to the wonderfully kind Front Desk lady, who is not only welcoming but apparently also a bit of a local celebrity. She has oil portraits of herself available for purchase — an unexpected yet iconic touch that truly ties the whole experience together. In summary: • Great captain (with repeat facts for emphasis) • Five-star restroom • Friendly staff with purchasable glamour art Would absolutely recommend.
Went this past Sunday with a large group. Because there were so many of us we were split between two boats — I was fortunate to have Jimmy as our captain and guide. He was so knowledgeable of the area and had a great eye for spotting wildlife. This was my first boat tour and it was great to see the beautiful scenery Louisiana has to offer. Thank you, Jimmy!
Great tour today with Brandon. Very informative guide. The boat tour lasted about 1.5 hrs and we saw a lot of wildlife including alligators...baby gators..egrets..turtles...ibis...a spoonbill...great blue herons...and lots of tall trees with the Spanish moss hanging from them. Restrooms are on site for people paying for the tour...they have a gift shop that also sells drinks including beer. The people running the place are super nice and overall it was a great experience.
We had a great time. Perfect weather Jimmy was our guide and he was amazing. We saw Ibis, Egrets, Herons, anhingas … even a Spoonbill! Also a nest of baby alligators. The yellow flowers growing everywhere made it a memorable day! Highly recommend!
Came down on a Saturday mid November - got in on a 3PM lake tour with a group of about 12. I was taking photos so they put me up front with someone else doing the same. Jimmy was our guide - very knowledgeable - put us on just about everything we needed to see - alligators, herons, limpkins, spoonbills - this lake is teaming with life. Tour was $25. Boat was super steady so if you are shooting handheld there will not be issues as long as you have good IS, etc..
The tour was a great experience definitely recommend!! Shout out to are tour guide Jimmy he was interesting ,informative and overall a nice guy ! We saw lots of wild life which included alligators, birds, and turtles and vegetation of the bayou. So I would say book your tour you’re not gonna regret it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had an amazing experience with Cajun Country Swamp Tours! Our guide, Bret, was fantastic—super knowledgeable, engaging, and attentive throughout the tour. He shared so much interesting information about the area’s history, wildlife, and ecosystem, which really made the experience special. The scenery was absolutely beautiful, and we were lucky to see a wide variety of wildlife up close. Highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for an authentic and educational swamp experience. Thank you, Bret and team!
We came with family from out of state so they could get a small taste of the swamp. It was a great tour with an exceptional guide. He was funny and very informative. He knew a lot about the area and took us where we could see a variety of animals. He even timed it, so we got to see a beautiful sunset. I would highly recommend taking one of their tours.
We did an 8am tour and we were not disappointed in wildlife! We saw many alligators, egrets, herons, osprey, bald eagle, and kingfishers. I now know the name of an anhinga! Our guide was fantastic and so knowledgeable, we had amazing time! I’m so glad we chose this company for our tour.
Just got done with the tour. Took my fiancé for his birthday and we had a blast. The weather was beautiful, the scenery and nature was very enjoyable. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, and humorous. He even went back for people who were late and we had more time on the boat than expected. Highly recommend. We will be back with more friends and family. Thank you
Highly recommend. This is a type of experience you always dream of but rarely get - with an absolutely genuine feel to it. Brett has a lot of respect towards animals, their natural inhabitant and people. He shares his knowledge with joy, none of it feels orchestrated or scripted. Thank you Brett for making my best memory of Luisiana. Also, I can not praise enough the value for money of this tour. 11 out of 10!
My husband and I go to lake Charles every summer as a birthday trip. I’ve wanted to do a swamp tour for years and this was EXACTLY what I hoped for. Educational, fun, relaxing and seeing gators! Our tour guide was so familiar with the water and that immediately put me at ease. 10/10 recommend!
Great swamp tour! Seen a bunch of different wildlife and nature. Bret our guide was amazing with our family and very informative. Glad we stopped by on our way home to Texas. Definitely recommend this tour.
Loved this tour. Our guide Brett was what made the tour so great. He was very knowledgeable, gave my family and I some great educajun. Saw gators, birds, bugs, and vegetation.

Beautiful scenery, so quiet and peaceful, kayak rentals and swamp tours galore. Cute cat to pet that the snack shop
A gorgeous place to watch spectacular sunsets. Spanish Moss hanging from the Water Tupelo and Bald Cypress trees is a perfect backdrop to end the afternoon. The sounds of nature are incredible and it is a bird watchers delight.
NOTE! Rookery Road is CLOSED at entrance from Prairie Highway! You will need to enter from the south end where the boat ramp is located (near Swamp Tours dock). Google Maps will take you to the closed road. Nice trail, and great scenery. Great for bird watching and a peaceful hike. Kayaks launch is available, but no signs to tell you. It could use more signage and marking, but very beautiful place.
This is such a lovely lake and I’ve always loved it, but it’s starting to lose its charm. All of the commercial boat tours have started to ruin that lake. It’s almost impossible to have a quiet day at the lake without 5 to 7 tour groups coming past you. And that’s when you’re only out for an hour or two. I will steer my kayak into a little cove to be out of the way, and the tours will come right up along side of you with no regard to leaving space. I’ve seen the tour boats go into the restricted nesting area when they are not supposed to. Anything for a buck. Not that long ago you could spend two minutes on that lake and see giant alligators. There wasn’t a time when I could go on that lake and not see at least a dozen alligators the size of my kayak or larger Now, you’re lucky if you see a 4 to 6 footer. I’m giving four stars for the lake itself. It would be five without the loss of peace and quiet and wildlife. The tours get zero stars
Every sunset is different but I can highly recommend this stop. Been here many times since I was a kid and keep coming back when I can. It is a beautiful place where you can easily observe alligators among other flora and fauna. You can drive right up to the water and even use the gravel road to see a little more of the swamp. There is even a hike/walk around the lake if you are interested in something longer and more scenic
Beautiful park. Great
Nature's beauty makes up for going home empty handed. Simply breathtaking!

Would highly recommend. Had a blast on the after dark tour. Our captain, Kevin, was wonderful and had lots of tidbits of interesting facts. The water and lights are beautiful at night.
2 of the 3 phone numbers listed on the website don't work. When I did call the other one, I spoke with a lady who said she'd talk with her husband about our interest in the boat tour. A few days go by and hadn't heard anything; called again and left a voicemail and still never heard back. Don't know if they're still doing tours, or what the deal was. I had researched boat tours in the area, and they sounded good, but not hearing anything was disappointing. We ended up finding another one that was really great, at least!
Brilliant - what an experience of a lifetime to take my family visiting from Scotland out and be able to hear this second generation local's expertise and knowledge of a region we love so much and consider a very special place. Booking experience was a pleasure and Kim was a delight to be out with - we all loved every minute with him - truly a real gentleman. Kids (11&12), parents and grandparents ALL got something special from this thanks to Kim really going out his way to show us the beauty of the region and none of us wanted it to end. We will be back and cant recommend this highly enough. Thank you
Great intimate tour through the swamp filled with blooming blue wild hyacinths. The guide/owner is passionate about teaching his guests all he knows of the area.
We five booked a trip with Kim, Sr. What a hoot! And the terrain was pretty terrific as well. Good, safe boat, even girded against “flying carp”, that can “kill you” according to Kim. Never heard of such a beast, but he had the conscientiousness to plan - plus keep his insurance costs down! Truly loved the experience. Highly recommended. Ask him about Joan Rivers! Best in Spring!, but he makes it worth it even in late January.
This tour is amazing! Anyone in this area should go. Rain or shine. We saw some beautiful birds and lots of alligators. They do not use air boats so it is quieter and you get to enjoy the wildlife because they aren't scared off. Kim is very knowledgeable about the area and really cares about the Bayou and the animals living in it. He also really cares about his customers as he has installed nets on the sides of the boats to protect you from jumping carp. They are all over and several hit the boat. These fish are large and can seriously hurt people but you won't have to worry about it here. It was raining during our tour but they have ponchos for you to wear and we were on a boat where you could sit inside so you wouldn't even be in the rain. A side note, Kim is a Veteran and so are several people in his family, all the more reason to take this tour.
When I read Kim was a veteran I knew which tour we were using, we support veteran owned businesses. Kim and his son were great. They were both very knowledgeable of the area and wildlife. They use outboard motor vessels not airboats, so you are able to hear their stories about the area and enjoy the sights and sounds. We will be back in the spring.
Our second time out with these folks & the experience was as excellent as our first. Kim Sr. & Kim Jr. are knowledgeable about all wildlife in the area and very respectful of them. They are experienced at guiding wildlife photographers and seem to know the whole basin without having to reference a map. Can't wait to go again!

Took our family and had a great time. Bryce, the owner and guide does a great job. Knowledgeable and very friendly. We saw alligators ( a bunch of them), turtles, lots of birds, several osprey. We had small children with us and he was great with the kids. Took us in a duck blind and they loved that.
Bryce was amazing! He showed my husband and I around the beautiful lake and we got to see a lot of wild life. He is so knowledgeable and personable. This tour has a lot of great photo and video opportunities as well. He also had some great recommendations for places to stop during our road trip! We definitely recommend this tour!!!
Bryce was so nice. He gave us a lot of useful information. He took us for a short ride on the lake when we showed up unexpectedly at the end of the day. He didn't have to and yet gave us a great ride. Really recommended. We will come back having reserved this time !
Lovely place to visit. Had a great time seeing birds, turtles, and alligators. Betty, our tour guide, was super friendly.
I second everything that was said about Bryce in the other reviews. He was very knowledgeable and passionate about the area. He took his time letting us get awesome pictures, and as others said, was able to get his boat into very narrow spots that other boats couldn't get to. We saw plenty of alligators and tons of other wildlife, even an eagle. Bryce is a very chill relaxed guy. At one point in the tour, we were all just sitting around chatting about some of his past experiences, and it was more like hanging out with a buddy than a tour guide. Also, if you don't like big groups, like my wife and I, this tour is definitely for you. Granted, it was the Monday morning 10 AM tour, but there were only two other people in the boat with us aside from Bryce. Next time we take a swamp tour in the area, it will definitely be with Bryce.
Bryce ruled. This tour was great. He was very informative about everything. Gators, birds, turtles, spiders, duck blinds. Honestly 10/10 tour!! Thanks Bryce (by the way we went to Robert’s Lounge after, was a great time)
This was one of the best experiences we have ever had. Corey is very knowledgeable about everything swamp: alligators, birds, plant life and trees. He took us close up to the trees and explained how the seeds grow. He showed us how the vegetation in the water grows and survives. He took us to an alligator nest that had just hatched babies within 2 weeks, and we saw 2 of the babies! We also were able to touch a hatched egg. I could go on & on. This is the guy you want to take you on a tour of the swamp! You can call, email, or connect on Messenger to make a reservation and the cost is absolutely the most reasonable I found without requiring a minimum number of guests.
When I first moved here I was unsure what Louisiana had to offer. I am falling in love with the swamp, and all the reptiles. If you are looking to get out of the house. Have a fun, friendly safe experience look up this place! I love the local experience verse the touristy boats. I've done this tour twice, and had an amazing experience booth times! Bryce is beyond nice. He goes above, and beyond to make sure you get the full swamp experience.

I love how different this welcome center is! The facility is clean, full of brochures to different places, friendly staff, free coffee, and original decor. My favorite part of this place is the different, unique, informative, hands on (books and touch screens) spaces that tell of the rich history (native Americans, building of the highway, flooding and how the flow of the waters have changed the land, and more). There's animatronic animals and a small theatre to watch a 4 minute video about the history and wildlife. There a few statues outside of wildlife that you can enjoy. You can also take time to pay tribute and admire the tribute to Airborne Forces. I plan to visit this area in the future and enjoy the wildlife that surrounds this area.
This place is amazing. Nice lake out back with sidewalks to walk around. A great place to stretch and take a break from driving. From the Greco birds to the free cup of community coffee, this place is a hit. I think they even allow fishing. If you're passing by and need a break, I recommend this place.
What an unexpected stop along I-10. Inside and out, this place is a gem. Large walking area, perfect for walking your dog or just stretching your legs! Clean, well lit, and safe. Be sure to go inside! The place is filled with interesting history and information on what and where to see the most amazing places! Set aside at least a half hour to truly enjoy this great stop!
This place is so neat! I can't believe I've lived in Louisiana all my life and never known about it until this work trip. Definitely worth a stop.
Absolutely make this stop. Fantastic frie day staff, coffee ready and hot, movie and I formation offered was amazing.
Beautiful clean rest area, has a lot of pinic tables under trees.
Nice rest stop! Not too many people. Good for dogs and humans.
This is the second time we've stopped here. Hands down, this is STILL the best rest area we have stopped at. Our first visit was two years ago on our way to AZ. Friendly and welcoming staff who are knowledgeable. Clean restrooms and facilities. The mini theater presentation was nice.

Enjoying Lake Martin with Cory... As the guide for Gondwana Ecotours Cajun Country Adventure, I was originally introduced to Cory of Bayou Teche Experience while booking a private canoe excursion of Lake Martin for one of our multi-day tours. He is courteous, prompt, continually accommodating of our needs, and precise in his knowledge, delivering an easy going narrative of accurate information with the addition of being well informed about the where-to-go's and what-to-do's on his home turfs of Breaux Bridge and Lafayette (super important, of course, aprés swamp tour...). Also, and perhaps most importantly, he is passionate about guiding people and of the importance of the swamps and bayous of Louisiana. If you're looking for an expert guide with integrity and a genuine love of his craft, look no further: Cory is your choice.
Highly recommend. Cory was fantastic and really did an exceptional job in ensuring we had a great time. In addition he provided us some awesome suggestions of additional things to check off the list during our short stay; thank for the tip Charlie T’s boudin and cracklin!
Corry is an amazing guide who is super knowledgeable of the area. He was able to answer all our questions and give us really cool background and history of the area and its wildlife. The kayaking was fantastic in such a unique and beautiful area. Highly recommend. Also Luna the kayak dog is awesome.
Cory guided us on a tour of Lake Martin. It was myself, my wife and our 10 year-old son. Cory brought two canoes. The seats had been lowered to increase steadiness. Cory was a wonderful guide. He shared with us information about the swamp; the flora and fauna; history of the area; even a scenic route to drive back to NOLA. Touring a Louisiana swamp was on my to-do list and this was perfect.
A wonderful morning spent paddling on Lake Martin, we saw alligators, cypress trees, birds, frogs, etc ! Cory is the best guide there is. He was perfectly able to adapt to our group with the weather, our schedule, our paddling level, etc. Plus he had tons of advices for the rest of our trip. I highly recommend him !
We had a great time exploring Cajun country with the Bayou Teche Experience! We paddled down the Bayou Teche one day and out on the St Martin Lake and swamp another day. Cory is very helpful in coordinating your paddling trips, car shuttle, and recommending places in the area to visit or eat at to complement your trip. A must-do activity if you are in the area!!
Had a fantastic time. Cory was really easy to work with. We chose the swamp kayak option and it was perfect. We saw a ton of wildlife. When we were done we just left the kayaks for Cory to pick up so we could run to dinner right afterwards. I forgot my camera bag in the kayak and Cory texted me to let me know how I could pick it up. Great service!
Cory gave my boyfriend and i an unforgettable and personal experience. He was very knowledgeable and personable and had some fantastic recommendations for what we should do after the tour.

Good sized antique store. Each area has individual setups, so prices vary. It's the kind of place where you can find the exact same thing a different price. Lots of collectibles and various knick knacks. Some booths have very old, historical objects. Others are more modern or just a collectible in general. Give yourself at least an hour or so to walk around and look at everything. If you're looking for furniture, there wasn't a large selection.
Today I experienced racial profiling as a customer in this store. I wanted to purchase a watch from a vendor booth that clearly had a POSTED sign that started “ALL items are %50 off”. Well the heavier set gentleman at checkout was SO SURE that the vendor did NOT sell their items for %50. I also noticed while browsing the store that they have KKK memorabilia. They lost a customer who enjoyed shopping in this establishment today.
Lagniappe Antiques in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, is a true gem for antique lovers! Finally, a store that lives up to its name with genuine antiques and a clean, inviting atmosphere—not just another flea market. Browsing their exceptional selection is always a treat, and today was no different. The staff is friendly, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the treasures they offer, making every visit a personalized experience. Their collection of home decor is one of the best I’ve come across in a long time—truly something for every style and taste. If you’re on the hunt for a specific antique or just looking to discover something special, Lagniappe Antiques is the place to go. They’re more than willing to help you find that perfect piece. Don’t miss this charming shop!
2025-08-08 - 5 Stars Great Staff!!!! Very polite and friendly. Lots of vendor booths with plenty of treasure to be found. We did find a few items. Will be back.
Wowwwww! This place is HUGE! Expect to spend about 3 hours here if you are really looking at the items. So many beautiful antiques here! Fascinating!!!
Love this antique mall. It's really huge. Alot of items that I've never seen before! Check it out....
Visited the store two weeks ago and was greeted immediately by a super friendly lady named Brittany. She asked if there was anything I needed help finding anything and showed me where I can find exactly what I was looking for. I spent over an hour looking at all the wonderful treasures the store had to offer. I would highly recommend visiting this place. When you go ask for Brittany !! Amazing customer service!
I had a great time looking at all the wonderful antiques this shop has . The staff was great . I will definitely be going back real soon.

This is the last remaining Cajun Dance Hall in Acadiana. There's lots of tables, great service and a super nice dance floor! I'm not sure why Google) thinks they serve food.
I, Carlos Webb & Cyndi Vincent-Fawvor danced to the GOOD music that band, the 4 HORSES provided. We enjoyed the Good gumbo, potato salad & cakes. Everyone was nice & friendly. Lots of QUEENS of all ages & different towns to see. Smoke-free, enjoyed everything. Bartenders were friendly, Great & busy. THANKS TO Luther Arceneaux for inviting us.
I want to step back in history right when you walk in the door you can tell you're gonna have a good time
Completely authentic Cajun dancehall. The folks dancing have been coming here for 50 years or more. Several locals showed us dance steps and cheered us on for trying to keep up with them. The bartender even gave us beer coozies when she saw us trying to make one out of a napkin lol. Super friendly staff, amazing locals, great air conditioning, and the feeling that you've stepped back in time to a happier place. This is a true treasure of an experience that we'll never forget. Definitely a highlight of our brief tour of Louisiana. Best wishes to the staff and Cowboy Mike and his lovely gal for all the helpful dance lessons! Much love y'all! - Kurt and Annette.
Real and authentic with a history to love — just like the music acts they showcase. The staff is fantastic, attentive, and friendly. They’ll greet you with a smile and a warm appreciation, and have you feeling like family when you leave.
I went to check on tickets for an upcoming show and was greated at the door by a lovely lady who was super sweet. She advised me that tickets can be purchased at the time of the event and would make accommodations for 2. I didn't stay but looked like everyone was having a great Sunday afternoon. Will definitely be back to purchase my WT tickets in a few weeks!
Excellent time. Great music, dancing and people. Some of my best memories of Louisiana.
Excellent spot for drinks and Cajun dancing. Friendly staff, great people, great music, cold Abita Amber 👍, decent bathrooms. We had a great last night in LA listening/dancing to Geno Delafose & French Rockin Boogie before going home to Texas.

One of my most amazing experiences in an antique shop ever! Karl was such a hoot! Awesome deals on real unique musical instruments. Tons of vintage record players and other great equipment
It's generous to call this an antique mall, as many cases are empty. It primarily has vintage musical instruments, which are nice enough. The hospitality is indifferent; the proprietor didn't so much as say hello when I passed within 3 feet of him.
The nicest owners & customers you ever will have the pleasure to meet. I visited for a few hours there browsed around a little & just visited. Most enjoyable day.
The music area is truly wonderful with lots of guitars and amps. There are tube amps that really put out good sound.
Similar to many of the antique markets that we've been to. Some antiques - many items from recent past ('Oh look, we used to have a set of glasses just like these'). Probably some good bargains is you find that specific item you're looking for.
Breux Bridge is an amazing little town. We visit a lot of antique stores in our travels. This one didnt have all that much but i'm still glad we stopped in.
The shops are all very nice however most of the merchandise is waaaaay over priced. Loved looking at everything though.
Very knowledgeable, helpful and kind people. Found a beautiful SS Lapis pendant treasure 👍

We love Mequet Tours. Going on his tour is now one of our yearly activities when we are in town to visit family. Mr. Mequet is always acomodating for getting great photo shots & making sure we are comfortable. Highly recommended.
Such an amazing tour and tour guide! Really informative and just a really good guy! Prices are affordable! If you’re looking for a good time this is the place to be at! Trust me you won’t be let down!
I absolutely thoroughly enjoyed this tour with my husband and two children! The guide knew the area amazingly and it's history! We learned so much and got to see several alligators! My Kids and I smiled the whole time from the beauty and wildlife! I highly recommend Mequets Swamp Tours!!! It's a personal tour and he takes individual families for a more enjoyable experience. Not a crowded tour, just us! It was special and well definitely be coming again to do a tour with him!
I had a great experience with Mequet Swamp Tours! For a person not knowing what to expect, this tour exceeded all expectations.I called the day before I wanted to come, and he was able to fit me on the day of! Guide was fantastic! He knew the ins and outs of the area, and was able to describe the ecology and history of the swamp. For a more personable/small tour, this is the place! I highly recommend here for your swamp adventure!!
There are a few really good options for airboat tours along the levee. If you are looking for something more personal, Jude at Mequet Swamp Tours is your guy. He's been exploring the basin since he was a kid, was really kind and full of information...and a great driver! We had a great time and will go back again.
Five star rating if you are looking for smaller & more personalized tour of the Atchafalaya Basin. Mequet Swamp Tours is a small family owned operation and Jude is a fantastic guide. He has in-depth knowledge of the area and knows where to adventure out to find the gators. We wanted to see some gators close up in person and got some fantastic pictures. The prices are reasonable and inline with the large tour companies nearby, worth every $$$. Overall, provided a awesome tour! I would call to arrange your tour ahead of time.
We had such a great time on the Mequet Swamp Tours boat. Very knowledgeable and professional and just a really nice guy! We got to see an alligator and lots birds. We will most definitely book another tour when we are back in Louisiana 🐊

Awesome place! There was all kinds of wonderfully made designs. Some unique, some not but you're sure to find something you didn't know you needed. The lady allowed me to shop in piece which is a plus for small shops. I touched and smelled everything!!!
Great handmade gifts. The woman that owns the store is very friendly and handmade most of the items in the store. Very reasonably priced.
Really nice local pieces. Lady working was very friendly. Glad I stopped in. Didn’t leave empty handed.
A nice variety and selection of handmade items. Shop small business it makes the gift more personal and one of a kind.
Excellent place full of things made by local artists.
