We booked a tour for our family while we were there a week at Christmas. Richard & Allen were awesome. It was a dream of mine to ride a snowmobile while in Red River. We heard about his company & called and he hooked us up. The ride was the most awesome thing I've ever done! They are a honest company and great tour guide. We rode about 13 miles and my family absolutely loved it ! I highly recommend the experience! Thanks for making this 64 year old Nana's dream come true !
We wanted to enjoy this. We’ve done snowmobiling at other locations. We found this to be the worst of our experiences. The machines produce so much exhaust and they insisted on stopping everyone many times really close. So the trip was always broken up and constant exhaust you’re breathing in. The top view is nice. As others have said very slow tour so if you like to be moving or don’t like crowds this isn’t for you.
Big Al is one of a kind and an awesome guide. We had our two little kids with us and Al and team made sure everyone was safe and knew what they were doing. Views were incredible. Highly recommend.
Big Al & his crew (Daniel & Emory) provides a first class operation. I have seen quite a few mountains including riding snowmobiles but this tour & scenery is the best by far! Taos is absolutely spectacular! Give Big Al a try… you will not be disappointed! Merry Christmas 2021!
This was a very fun experience, Al was very outgoing and it was fun visiting with him. If you’ve never snowmobiled this is a great opportunity to learn and see some beautiful scenery !!
What a great experience! If you’re scared of heights, some of the experience entails driving next to drops. The snow mobile tour stayed around the speed of 7-12 mph. Most of the time sticking at a firm 8mph. It can be hard to drive the snowmobile going slow. It was an arm workout for me! However, the views are second to none! Big Al was a joker and definitely a showman. The tour on the snowmobile was around two hours, not including the drive to and from. Make sure you bring glasses or goggles, warm thermals, double jacket it up, and gloves. It gets cold!
Big Al is a long time resident of Taos, who provided a 1st class, safe, affordable snowmobile tour! Views are spectacular! Highly recommended!
Tbh - visited Taos to experience Big Al’s Snowmobile Adventures. Such a great time. Our party of four partnered up on two snowmobiles and went for the tour. If you’re looking for “crazy scary” snowmobiling - THIS IS NOT IT. The Big Al team takes great caution and care that all guests enjoy the amazing views, the awesome rides, and the time outside. Wear WARM clothes bc you’re going to gain elevation. Finally, you park in the assigned lot, shuttle bus to the snowmobiles, and then ride. Cash only. Tip not included. Trust me, this is safe for you and your kids (as riders not drivers). Love New Mexico!

This place is dope. Book online, save 20%. Walked in one day and was able to book online that morning! The dudes and gals are super chill and so charming. They’ve got and they do EVERYTHING (even sales on some great brands)
Decent equipment, some staff friendly, provide free storage of cold equipment. Location at base of ski area is convenient. No fuss no muss rental and return. Knocked them down a star for not providing free warm storage of your regular shoes (they do offer coin operated lockers).
Cottam's was awesome to work with. My ski rentals were perfect and they were priced competitively. The staff was friendly and helpful and answered all my questions. Kirt was especially attentive and made my experience stand out. Thanks guys, I'll be back!
They have excellent customer service. The staff was super helpful and always friendly. The selection of ski equipment and merchandise was exceptional. I would definitely recommend Cottam's as your first and only choice!!
Super friendly and helpful staff. They met us outside each day to assist with ski storage and to make sure equipment was performing well and fit was correct. Staff even took time to help our kids in and out if their boots. Highly recommend.
Gear and service were fine. However, I got an unexpected upcharge when picking up my gear - $16, or 14% of my total pre-paid bill. There was some fine print on the receipt saying that they could increase the price whenever they wanted. Charging one price in advance but a different price on delivery of goods is a dishonest and greedy business practice. I will steer friends/family away from Cottam's and other Christy's-affiliated locations.
Simply the best customer service. The team got to know us, our needs, skills, etc. and in a few days actually knew us by name. I could not have provided better service to myself. Our new "go-to" when in Taos!
We had the best experience with the guys at Cottam's this week. They had our reservation ready when we arrived and we're so kind to my kids as the fitted them and got all their gear together. The gear they had for us was top notch and we all had the best time of our lives skiing. When we wanted to try other gear they were super nice and helpful. The convenience of this shop for getting to/from the slope is worth every penny we spent. Just a terrific experience and highly recommend them.

Feb 2025 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Best Boot Fitting Experience! I had an amazing experience at The Boot Doctor in Taos! Ian was my boot fitter, and he did an incredible job making my custom footbeds. He was courteous, efficient, and extremely knowledgeable, ensuring a perfect fit while answering all my questions. His expertise made a huge difference in both comfort and performance on the mountain. The entire shop is filled with the same level of professionalism and passion—everyone is friendly, helpful, and dedicated to getting you the best gear. If you need a great boot fitter, skis mounted/ tuned and top-notch gear, don’t go anywhere else! The Boot Doctor is simply the best!
Professional, helpful and good value. Got us a good set-up on ski's and a further hook-up on boots. They got it all fitted and ready to roll without any issues. Ian and the crew are solid bunch and you rely on them.
Have been going here for 30 years—just bought skis bindings boots for our daughter—service excellent as ever. They endured buyouts and now are on the road again to being the indie shop we were used to. GO!
Absolutely best money we have ever spent. Boyfriend and I have been just struggling over and over with our boots, we both have narrow feet. Ian was AMAZING! Came in and fixed our boots for both of us with very little trouble, completely changed our experience here. Highly recommend Ian, awesome guy and soooooo so helpful. Can not emphasize enough how much we appreciate this guy. We hear he’s good at fishing also :)
Can't recommend these folks enough! We drove 3 hours to come to the bootdoctors and so glad we did! Robbie got my wife fitted in zipfit liners and then helped fit me for a new pair of boots. Robbie was super knowledgeable, helpful and patient with us. We are so grateful for all of the time he spent with us for us to leave with everything we needed! Patrick helped us with our custom footbeds as well which was super awesome and Cheyenne was so kind and attentive during our visit as well! Grateful for yall! Thanks again Robbie :)
Had the best time at Bootdoctors in Taos today! I purchased a pair of custom fit boots as well as new skis/bindings and couldn’t have been happier with my experience. During a visit to the shop earlier this fall, Charlie recommended that I come back for some custom boots, and I’m so glad I did! Margo is a super experienced professional who provided a personal fitting. Wild Bill directed me to just the right pair of skis to swish around on. This all means a lot, because a little over three years ago, I broke my leg pretty badly in a mountain bike accident. This resulted in three plates and 27 screws in my leg and I haven’t downhill skied since! Margo was able to find a boot that not only fit my foot, but was comfortable on all my hardware. She made the boot fit my limited ankle flexion with some really crafty tricks. I felt confident in her capable hands! Not to mention the perfection of the custom fit and molded footbed! Wild Bill understood my desire for an affordable, versatile, and easy to maneuver ski for my first season back post leg break on the slopes. Now, bring on the snow!
Patrick is a SORCERER! I'm a "6th toe guy"--got a big bone on the side of my foot absolutely killing me in ski boots. Like a BOSS, Patrick fixed my boot and I was back to shred Pioneer in about 20 min. Stoked and will be back for ALL my bootfitting needs! PS- Arturo in ski tech is legit the REAL DEAL. If you see him shred, imagine what he can do hand-tuning your kit! 10 STARS for these guys ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ . El Chad, ABQ
Had an awesome experience buying my first pair of ski boots. Worked with Tyler as my doctor and then Bill worked with my skis to adjust the bindings to fit the new boots. Everyone in the store was super welcoming and warm and extremely knowledgeable. They definitely have a science of boot fitting and I left with ski boots that were more comfortable than I thought was possible. No upselling, awesome staff, highly recommend. (P.S. If you're going for boots, prepare for an hour and a half or so because the fitting process is extensive (and awesome...).

We really enjoyed our stay here. Mike, Kevin, and Linda Lee were delightful people who took excellent care of us. The ski valet was a great service—super convenient and as close as you can get to the lift so you don’t have to carry skis far. We never had to wait more than 15 seconds for valet service or ski valet service. The room was very nice, very clean, and had a great shower. Really nothing to dislike—we will be back.
Beautiful resort in the summer. Visited first week of August. Perfect weather 60s-70s. Can’t wait to visit in the winter to ski. Spacious rooms. Quality service. Pet friendly. Great trails. Check out Red River for a cool daytime getaway.
I’m mostly leaving a review about the spa. Do not go. I have been coming here yearly, it’s great because it is near the slopes and they allow dogs. The service is really good, people are very friendly here…with exception of the spa. I had booked a 90 facial yesterday, and the esthetician ended 8 minutes early…no biggie. I decided to overlook it. However today I had a massage booked and they called me 10 minutes prior to cancel. I had come in early from skiing because of the appointment. If I canceled last minute, I would be charged.
Our family recently stayed at the Blake for the first time and were extremely impressed. The property is beautiful! Staying steps away form the primary lift is a luxury, but not as luxurious as the rooms. Ample space, especially for winter activites and the pool/spa/exercise facility is so nice. Truly had an amazing family stay and can't wait to return. Thank You!
Very disappointing.. we walked into the bar at 5:15pm on September 5. I give the date and time because if I was the owner I would want to know how bad my staff was and who was working at that time. The bartender promptly seated us. We waited about 10 minutes as several wait staff milled about doing nothing because the place only had a few guests. Finally a dirty blonde female wait staff came up to us to tell the Josh would be our server. We waited 15 more minutes as she passed us several times and it was obvious that we hadn’t been waited on but made no attempt to serve us. Finally we got up and left. Walked by the bartender who said nothing to us and went and had fabulous drinks at the Rolling Still Lounge for half the price. We highly recommend the Rolling Still. Unfortunately, we won’t be hack at the Blake.
Had an amazing stay here, clean rooms, walls and floors are solid and can’t hear anyone in halls or above you, very well built. The pool was always clean and taken care of, clean gym and the gift shop was awesome! The location is amazing! A dream in my opinion. Will return in the winter to ski.
This place is stunning. I realize summer time is slow season but man, the quiet is fabulous. Everyone is friendly and professional. The rooms are beautiful, the views are astounding.
It's always a good time at The Blake. It's a lesser known gem. Usually go to Breckinridge with the boys but several years ago took them to Taos at a recommendation of a buddy. Been coming back every season since then. Everything is walkable and not a terrible drive from the PHX valley.

Had an amazing experience!! Dylan was SO helpful and went over the top to help us make sure everything fit correctly and helped us make adjustments during the day after we hit the trails for half a day. This place was exceptional and I highly recommend!! The price and customer service seemed superior to the main Taos resort rentals. I love that we got to store our skis there overnight so we didn’t have to lug them around with us!! Thank you to the whole team here and especially Dylan!!!!
What a great weekend with the fam in Taos with the help of our friends at Alpine Xtreme! A big thanks to Matt and the team! They are great and treat you as a friend as soon as you walk in the door! They were ready and prepared us to have a great weekend! We can't wait to come back and rent from y'all again! Our go to spot! Big love and...PRAY FOR SNOW!!!
Great help by Lincoln at the Alpine Xtreme ski shop. Quick and easy fitting and rental, at a very fair price for being on mountain. The day of skiing was great!
Great service—staff is knowledgeable, courteous, and accommodating. The equipment is top notch, overnight outdoor ski rack and easy access to the mountain makes this my go to shop for rentals and ski equipment purchases. They treat me like family and I wouldn’t go anywhere else.
I recently had the pleasure of renting equipment from Alpine Xtreme, and I can confidently say it made all the difference in my 6 year old's skiing adventure. From the moment we walked through the doors, Ryan and his staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to ensure he had everything needed for a perfect day on the slopes. The equipment was in pristine condition—clearly well-maintained and modern. They offer gear for children and adults alike. Located right next to the Gondolita, the shop could not be more convenient! It's location near the Children's Learning Center made the logistics hassle-free. They offer an easy online booking system that allowed me to reserve my gear in advance, ensuring I didn't waste precious time waiting in line. They also provide flexible rental options, which made it simple to adjust my rental period when my plans changed unexpectedly. Don't bother renting elsewhere as you will only end up at Alpine Xtreme anyway.
Alpine Extreme is the place to go! Extremely knowledgeable staff and great equipment! Thanks for taking great care of us. My wife said it was the best fitting equipment she’s ever had! You can’t go wrong with Alpine Extreme!
Excellent customer service! Speedy and attentive staff. They happily switched out a boot that was rubbing a little bit and got me back on the slopes. And it didn’t smell like a ski rental shop.
Amazing experience! They went above and beyond my expectations. Had an issue and they took care of me and my family without a hitch. I will rent my equipment there next time we go. World class service!
