Such a beautiful place to visit, was our first time and it was so beautiful. So many memories are here and such historic places. Definitely would recommend people go visit this place, get holy dirt and water and pray for your loved ones!! 🙏🏽❤️🫶🏼
I have never been to a place similar to this Holy Place of Pilgrimage. Many come here for miracle. A lot of healing happening in this place. I find this place so unique. It is believed that a type of soil gives physical healing. Unfortunately, pictures are not allowed inside the church where you can get the "blessed" soil that believed to give healing. We attended a Sunday mass at 12PM in English. 10:30AM is in Spanish. Plenty of parking too.
This is a functional church and chapel imbued with incredible history and lore. The woodwork and art will make you feel like you’re in the middle of 16th or 17th century. The grounds are also beautiful, and the site is shouldered by several shops and coffee houses, where you can get a cup of piñon coffee and a fresh bag of chili. Really worth a visit!
This is a place that needs to experienced as words are inadequate to describe the overall vibe! Beautiful & serene, I felt a magical healing in my whole body as I sat in church pews & meditated. The Holy dirt is transformative. This has been on my MUST SEE LIST for years, so I glad I was able to squeeze it in during a conference in Santa Fe. Rented a car at the airport , 30 or so miles North. Hit a fantastic restaurant nearby & a relaxing drive up & back. Amazing!!!!
Beautiful sanctuary with many small chapels, loads of history and meaningful spaces. Inspiring, touching, and serene. Worth a visit for pilgrims and visitors alike.
Easy to find and park. Very quiet and easy to navigate. Wish there was more signs with facts/history. Nice stop if you're on this way to/from Santa Fe.
The peace my family and I felt while visiting this beautiful sanctuary was just outstanding! God is so good. We were able to take home Holy Dirt, would recommend to anyone looking for answers and healing.
If you’re seeking a unique experience outside Santa Fe, this is the perfect destination. The grounds offer a traditional atmosphere, making you feel as though you’ve stepped out of the USA and into the outskirts of a Mexican village. The church is stunning and serene, with its old-world charm beautifully preserved. While exploring, you can visit various shops for spices and art, but the architecture is a must-see.

My fiance really wants to get married in this this church? Is there a way to make this possible? I want to do anything I can to make her dreams come true and making this a possibility will make a forever mark on her heart.
Very unique church. Built in tribute to Holy child Atocha. There isn’t much detail about the history but inside is built in a way to please children. There is a separate prayer room for children with 1000s of pictures of kid. Really sweet church
It was closed when I went so I could not enter.
Not so much of a place to take toddlers but it's so beautiful for adults and older children.. people were so nice so that make the experience even better
Nice & quiet. Colorful, flowers & trees are blooming.
I’m trying to find a phone number to ask questions about what hours they’re open. Does anybody know how I can get a hold of an office or something?
An amazing place beautiful church everything is incredible!!!
Out of body experience. Hard to explain. Deeply meaningful to me

We have purchased a two blankets and a jacket from the shop. They are beautiful, high quality, and we love them. When we went in the shop, everyone was very friendly. All the products are amazing, and the process is cool. It is also great to see a shop like this, with this long history is doing so well.
Beautiful rugs. Can watch the looms but no one offered to help us or even acknowledged we walked in. We were the only people inside. Not super impressed with customer service
This is such a special place! My grandparents have been shopping here for decades so of course we had stop in while in Santa Fe. I got a small weaving and a display rack for it. They were able to attach it to the rack for me in the shop so it's ready to hang. I love that you can see the looms, although I was bummed that no one was working while we were visiting. I'll just have to come back!
Beautiful products, great customer service! Love that you can go in the back and see where the weavings are made. The looms are amazing.
Excellent hand woven woolens. Inventory varies depending on what has been produced. But they do special orders.
Made a special trip to buy a hand woven scarf made in NM. They had printed fleece ones made in NM but not hand woven. The only woven scarves they had were made in INDIA!! So disappointed as they tout generations of weavers. Why would you carry items not locally made? I'm sure their other things were lovely, but not what I was looking for.
There is genuine weavings with reasonable price. If you really want good weavings, it's worth to come here. A big city like Santa Fe, genuine weavings are very expensive, and cheap ones are not genuine.
Beautiful wool weaving in every price and size, a family business for 8 generations. Certainly worth stopping at if you go through Chimayo.

Not sure why people review the Rancho de Chimayo gift shop (lovely!) at Chimayo Trading and Mercantile, which is on 76 a mile away and has been closed for years???

They were so sweet, and kind and helped me and my mum find what we need and and showed up recipes and different species and showed my brother the hotter species awesome places
Unexpected find as we visited the church. I wanted some Chile powder but not a huge bag like is sold many places. Here I purchased two smaller bags as the gentleman took time to let me taste the various varieties. Didn’t look at anything else in the store but it was well stocked.
Fun little store, a quick walk through and yours hands will be full of Chile and other goods. Directly next to Santuario Chimayo. Stop in get some Chile powder and a vial of soil before you head on your way.
Staff are friendly, the chile is excellent and there’s a rotating selection of beautiful retablos and bultos alongside other religious goods.
Looking for souvenirs that I could acquire while at the Sanctuary of Nino De Atocho or shrine of Chimayo . I came across this store . I was very pleased with the beautiful images of Our Lady of Guadalupe , handmade rosaries, statues of the Nino de Atocho ( I found the perfect bulto there) the store was packed with everyone looking for the perfect souvenir from this lovely shrine. I myself was looking for several gifts and an image of the Nino de Atocho. The owner Raymond was knowledgeable and very helpful to everyone. A visit to this amazing store filled with chilli peppers & powders is a must .
Lot of nice locally made spices available here.
Very unique shop that sells a little bit of everything. I got a bag of red dried chile. Owner was friendly and kind, he gave me a recipe for chile sauce too. He said they ship their chile if I ever needed more. They sell many types including an XXXXtra hot variety and the prices are surprisingly affordable.
Love this place! Spices are amazing, affordable and the people working there are super friendly and helpful. Also love that you can order more and they will ship it to you! (I live in Wisconsin and need to have these spices!)

So nice to find an authentic place like this! Looms are working to make the items sold here. The Trujillos are 8th generation weavers in the area and do beautiful work. There are also items from local artists in the area. Definitely stop here if you're in Chimayo!
This was our second purchase from Trujillo’s Weaving Shop, the first of which was during COVID. Carlos was super helpful and accommodating both times. Our puppy got into our first table runner, so he cut that down for us for a smaller round table (see pic - looks great on our copper table) and we ordered the larger red one shown for our dining room table. Both are stunning! It takes awhile, but it is totally worth the wait! Thank you, Carlos and family!
Was told by locals to come to this shop for some souvenirs. The gentleman Trujillo was truly a gentleman. Not only is this his place of business but he also lives there. It is truly a beautiful workshop and home. He was very courteous, and we enjoyed his stories of the history of his family. Overall, his store is reasonably priced compared to other shops within the area.
I didn't stop here, yesterday the roads were closed, I just parking outside
A must see! 7 generations of Weavers. Books available to learn the history.
Thank you so much. I had a wonderful experience and bought a beautiful turquoise necklace at a fair price.
We were super impressed by their artwork. Great place to stop and see.
Beautiful weavings, pottery, jewlery and wood carvings. Great gift ideas!!!

Chimayo weaving studio, so interesting to visit. The proprietor is seventh generation weaver and has beautiful tapestries and clothing for sale. It's more like a museum than a store!
Beautiful weavings! The current owners are seventh generation weavers making the large scale artistic pieces and with a small team of workers making the smaller pieces. Enjoyed getting a tour of the massive, old school looms.
Sentinela Traditional Arts is an absolute treasure. Their collection of handcrafted rugs, vests, and purses is both traditional and modern, with each piece showing the skill and artistry of master weavers. The large-scale hand-loomed rugs are breathtaking—works of art that belong in a gallery as much as in a home. What made the visit especially memorable, though, was the chance to meet the owners. They were warm, engaging, and generous with their time, sharing personal stories behind the looms and the history woven into every thread. This isn’t just a shop—it’s a living connection to culture, craftsmanship, and creativity. A must-stop for anyone who appreciates true artistry.
Absolutely beautiful work. So fun to meet the weavers including Lisa and Emily. Also got to see Lisa’s work at the folk art museum the day before in Santa Fe, so was fun to meet her. Highly recommended. We got some beautiful pieces to hang at home.
We found Centinela Traditional Arts on our drive along the High Road from Taos to Santa Fe. Stopping there was an experience along with a chance meeting with Gloria, from who we purchased one of her sunset piece. Also enjoyed meeting and talking with Lisa and Emily.
These pieces on display are truly beautiful works of art. Many options to choose from, and appreciated learning more about the art form.
Wow! This place is a must see! To have a hand woven piece from the Trujillo family is like having a piece of our land’s history in your home! Absolutely plan to stop here during your stay to support these authentic weavers and to keep the Chimayó tradition alive and well!
Beautiful weavings and very knowledgeable, friendly owner. Be sure to watch PBS interviews with Irvin and Emily Trujillo.

A wonderful example of Northern New Mexico cultural history. A volunteer effort by a group of community members showcasing traditional architecture, weaving, agriculture and language. I highly encourage others to visit.
Awesome place very peaceful good vibes.
This museum was great, and this is coming from someone who, admittedly, is not always entranced by historical sites. But here, I read almost every single information sign, gaining a deeper understanding of this place I was passing through, and its context in New Mexican history. It is evident that so much work and research went into this exhibit and I appreciated it's thoroughness. It may not be glamorous but this is a very high quality museum.
Small museum in original house. Find the rug store, go through the parking lot to the left, and walk down the path to the house. 14 children in that first family. Lots of cultural and historical information.
Charming small museum of hyper-local history including the tradition of weaving. Good clear explanations. Admission is free but donations accepted. You'll need at least ten minutes and less than an hour to visit.
Very interesting and amazing historical items inside! I live right down the road next to this museum. Great side stop to explore!! 😊
This is a nice little museum. If already coming through Chimayo for the sanctuary and/or restaurant, it's a quick stop for a little history of the area.

The pieces in there are quite beautiful and amazing to look at and observe. They have extremely knowledgeable people working there that know almost everything about the works and pieces inside. It is so beautiful to look around and see everything. There isn't another place nearby that would have this type of ancient and amazing work.
Marco Oviedo is a master sculptor using processes developed by his family hundreds of years ago. This is the kind of art that is dying out, at least in this country. Absolutely worth a visit. His work is not only gorgeous, it's a great investment.
The gallery is delightful. Such an array of different sculptures in wood and bronze. We were so kindly welcomed
