GREAT museum for kids and adults! Otter show was adorable, multiple dark/movies rooms to sit down at, really fun trails with activities. The staff is super friendly and accommodating -- they clearly love what they do. We spent 4 hours here with a 1 year old, 5 year old, and 9 year old and they were happy and engaged the whole time. If you need an activity in the Adirondacks, this is a great pick.
What a great hidden gem ! Was extremely surprised with all the great exhibits in the main hall and also the amount of live exhibits (otters, fish, turtles, snakes). The grounds are very well kept and maintained. The paths for walking thru the woods and outdoor exhibits were flat and easy with very very few tripping hazards (I mean you are in the woods !) . Would highly recommend this for adults and children
Absolutely amazing place! The Wild Center is a perfect mix of nature, science, and hands-on fun. We loved exploring the interactive exhibits inside — they’re so engaging for both kids and adults. The outdoor trails and the Wild Walk are breathtaking, with stunning views of the Adirondacks and treetop bridges that make you feel part of nature. The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable, and everything was well organized and clean. A fantastic spot to learn, explore, and enjoy the beauty of the natural world.
This is a great place for all ages, and abilities! I brought my 92 year old Grandma, in a wheelchair, on oxygen...I myself am disabled, and need assistance with walking. We were able to access everything, except for the big cutout tree, with the swaying, narrow bridges. They also have a large, BEAUTIFUL, gift shop where I spent quite a bit buying unique gifts for family members! The otters really are a joy to watch in their large, nice, tank! They have other animals too.... Lots of fish, and turtles! All of this is indoors! They have a little movie theater that shows films about the adks, sky, and others! They have an indoor restaurant. They have otter feeding shows too! There are many hands on activities for kids! When you're done with everything inside, you go back where the parking lot is and the wild walk is on the other side of the parking lot... You could do walk first if you want.. There is a booth when you first pull in, where you buy tickets. It was 50.00 for Gram and I ($26.00 adult, and $24.00 senior)... You can buy the tickets online if you want and save $1.00 per ticket! I was able to push my Gram right up the wild walk and we got to see the large "bald eagle nest", and the huge spiderweb that kids were having so much fun on! This place is so educational... Even along the walk, there are signs about different birds, and how stuff is made. One section has a cool game with spinners, you can play! The also have a mini gift shop along the walk! I highly recommend visiting this place! My Grandma thought it was pricey to get in, until she started seeing everything, and after we left she said she would have paid double to go! Enjoy your visit!
This place is so cool! We had no idea how much stuff there was to do, I could have spent all day in there. The indoor portions are really neat, especially the big globe thing. There’s otters and ducks inside, which was so fun. The outdoor portions are really is so nice, with the treetop stuff and the water access. 10/10 would recommend to anyone. I wish I had come here as a child. Also, the gift shop rules.
The best naturalist visitor center that I've ever experienced! The aquariums, displays, live animals (Fish, wood ducks, Falcon) were amazing. The variety of displays and information provided are Fantastic!! The educational hiking trails and Raquette wooden ball roll platforms made a 62 year old feel like I was a kid again. Additionally the canopy walk was spectacular and easy enough for everyone. Best experience of the trip!
What a beautiful experience this was, especially with the leaves changing color—it made the visit even more special. There’s so much to do for both children and adults. Outside, we enjoyed about five aerial attractions, including a bird’s nest, trampoline, and bird game. There was also live music under a tent, a mile-long walk with around a dozen interactive handmade ball games, and unique playgrounds, all crafted with care. Inside the museum, we found engaging exhibits and living creatures to view, along with plenty of hands-on activities that encouraged learning for children. The gift shops were spacious and well-stocked, and the small café offered affordable food and beverages, which was a nice surprise. Every staff member we met was kind and welcoming. We went on Community Day, so admission was free, but the experience was truly priceless. This is a wonderful place for families, and I’d happily recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and meaningful outing.
Very fun experience! I highly recommend! Stopped here on a road trip from Missouri. The music forest is so enchanting so be sure to check that out! The wild walk was so fun to explore everything, made me feel like a kid! Very friendly staff as well!

Loved this brewery - we had pizza, then more food from the 3 food trucks on the property. The music was great - though a bit loud. We decided to just sit back to enjoy it, then talk later. Was a great sunny day, lots of people there, you could tell it was a local highlight and staff was super friendly. Beer is awesome!
I've always been impressed by what Mark and his team have built with Raquette River Brewing. It’s become quite the destination. The beer has become legendary in the region, with a lineup that consistently delivers on quality, creativity, and flavor. The atmosphere is both modern and inviting, striking that perfect balance between laid-back and lively. The food trucks are a major highlight, serving up some of the best bites around, and usually well worth the wait. Whether you're grabbing tacos, BBQ, or pizza, the options never disappoint. A must-visit stop in the Adirondacks, whether you’re a local or just passing through.
A group of us went out to play Wednesday night, "Game Night," at the Brewery. What fun! Friendly people, drinks, and lots of laughs playing the game. The hard-working bartender was incredible and smiled all night. She's fabulous. There's also a new food truck, and the choices and food are terrific. The pizza truck is also open for business as well, and their pizza is great. Make this place a fun night out on your calendar. Of course, we all went to the Brewery for a bite to eat after the eclipse event. Just had another dinner with friends. Everything was great and everyone enjoyed their choices from the food truck. Went out for dinner on a Sunday late in the afternoon too. We had pizza and drinks and everything was good and it wasn't too crowded.
We discovered Raquette River Brewery when it was the only place open on a Sunday at 8 PM, and it immediately impressed us. The brewery has a cozy atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating, decorated beautifully for fall. There’s even a large fireplace, though it wasn’t lit when we visited. A welcoming sign reminds everyone that all are welcome, which was a great touch. Food comes from four rotating food trucks outside. We tried dishes from two of them, and everything was delicious. Portions are just right—not huge, not tiny—and prices are very reasonable, especially compared to other food trucks or restaurants we’ve been to. Be aware that one of the trucks had a very long wait, so if you plan to order from multiple trucks, factor that into your timing. The drinks are all locally brewed, and we each found new favorites—flavorful ales for me and a standout hard cider for my husband. The service was friendly, the atmosphere inviting, and the location is convenient, right on the main route near the municipal park. We loved it so much that we returned for our anniversary. It was definitely worth the drive (an hour each way) and the scenic fall colors along the way made the trip even more memorable. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great local food, drinks, and a welcoming, cozy atmosphere in Tupper Lake!
A really cool, if not a bit loud, open lodge style brewery. Really like the option of 3 different food trucks outside. Beer variety was pretty good, really liked the sour options they had. Their merch game is wild, like 20% of the interior is dedicated to all the options - definitely something for everyone. They also have a covered patio outside in addition to the indoor seating.
What a fantastic place to spend an evening! Their space is huge, with lots of tables and a long bar if you prefer that. The rustic decorations makes it feel homey, and the best part is you order your drinks from the QR code at the table and they magically appear. The lack of traditional waiter service also means you feel free to stay and linger as long as you like. The drinks on offer were all fantastic. My husband tried a flight of their brewed beer, and I enjoyed a flight of ciders. Everything not brewed by them is sourced from NY companies. They do not serve food here, but sponsor several food trucks just outside, and you are welcome to eat at the table. We will definitely be back!
Great and relaxing place. Food trucks right outside provide a variety of food that you can take into the brewery and eat there. Staff is top notch.
A good selection of beer and ciders. Love the food trucks as well. Seating inside and out and dog friendly.

The Adirondack Sky Center is a treasure in the sky. In its dark skies, I saw nebulae, open clusters, and Saturn's rings through advanced telescopes. The expertise of the staff on stellar evolution and deep-sky phenomena made the experience as enlightening. A must-visit for anyone drawn to the mysteries of the cosmos!
My girlfriend and I came up to Lake Placid for a weekend getaway in the wintertime. We had the absolute pleasure of doing a private stargazing session at the observatory with Marc Staves. Adirondack Sky Center & Observatory delivered such a fun and knowledgeable experience. We were fortunate enough to see some solid winter skies until the weather interfered. However, the experience was incredible, being that we were able to see Jupiter, Mars and Venus, along with several nebulae, Pleiades and stunning views of the moon. 5/5 would recommend.
We visited 7/26 for the first time and had a great time with Mark and Gordie. We saw, among many other things, a blue ring nebula and Saturn! Awesome to have this resource right in Tupper lake! Check their Facebook page to see if and when they are open, it's well worth checking out!
Excellent facility, staff, and equipment. Every time we visit the Adirondacks, we make sure to visit the Adirondack Sky Center. We've always been lucky in having great weather and being able to join them at the RORO (roll off roof observatory) at night for stargazing. The area where they're located is one of the darkest skies in the entire east coast (check the dark sky map!) Staff is not only friendly but very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. They let you look through various different telescopes with guidance and eagerness. We've had the pleasure of seeing the Ring Nebula, Saturn (with 4 of it's moons), a binary star system, and more through telescope with our own two eyes. They always have good merch - I have a collection of sweaters and t-shirts of theirs. We're more than happy to support such an outstanding organization. Keep up the great work, Ad Astra!
The observatory is open infrequently. cloud cover and weather will dictate if it's worth while opening up. they have some great equipment there and knowledgeable volunteer astronomers. great for kids of all ages. no tickets required, no charge for admission
I had no idea something of this caliber could be found in the Adirondacks!! Marc was incredibly knowledgeable and gave us a fascinating and detailed presentation of their facility and the night sky. Looking forward to visiting again
Everyone involved with the Adirondack Sky Center genuinely want to share their knowledge and excitement with everyone. From the sky tours outside to the telescope viewing inside, it's a great experience for all ages and experience with astronomy.
We had visitors from out of town so we thought we would enjoy the night sky. Everyone had a great time and really loved the experience.

The staff here were all so kind and helpful! Chuck gave us a great route to explore the Simond Pond/Raquette Lake area. Anne not only made some accommodations for us, but also gave fantastic recommendations for other activities around. Safety was a priority with this place. We will definitely be back again and again!
Can’t say enough about RRO. I have been shopping with them for years . I buy a Helle knife every year I visit . This year I did a lot of extra paddling and both owners were so helpful to make sure I could complete the goals I set for this trip . Extremely knowledgeable, personable and encouraging. Thanks RRO for helping this old girl get the triad and the Long lake Tupper lake trip done. . See you next year save me a Helle
We had a fantastic experience with Raquette River Outfitters! We stopped by the day before our rental and were warmly greeted by friendly, helpful staff who answered all our questions and made the process easy. Renting two kayaks was smooth and straightforward. They provided everything we needed—including paddles, life jackets, and a detailed local map for paddling in Tupper Lake. A team member even brought our kayaks down to the water, to help us get ready to get on the water. Paddling through the area was peaceful and beautiful—we spotted birds, plants, and other wildlife. A truly memorable experience. We highly recommend Raquette River Outfitters and will definitely return on our next visit!
Can’t say enough good things about Raquette River Outfitters!! Came up from PA wanting to do a multi day canoe trip with some friends and I heavily researched outfitters around the area and RRO was the best rates. Even better than that they were very knowledgeable and flexible when we had to change our itinerary due to sickness. Anne and Robbie are awesome! It was so much fun talking to them about their experience in the Adirondacks and we will plan our next trip there with them!
Been using RRO for 4+ years to explore the area. Great service and really friendly staff. They always help plan trips and are knowledgeable about the different areas. The equipment is all high quality and reliable. Always an epic experience w them.
We had a fantastic time out on the Raquette River this July! The scenery was just breathtaking. We were completely new to canoe camping, and had a party of 2 adults and 7 teenage boys! Anne and her staff were extremely helpful and made sure we had everything we needed to have a great time. Anne was really patient in answering all our questions and helping us plan a suitable trip. It was an unforgettable experience for us all.
I'm local. These guys have the most knowledge on current conditions and will ensure you have what you need. I know them as backcountry compadres.
Anne and Rob are just fantastic people. Kind, welcoming, knowledgeable, and dedicated to making each trip as great as possible. I have used their services 6 times now and each time, their advice on the right trip for our group was spot-on. This year, my brother, sister, and I took on a bigger trip; the Oswegatchie Traverse, with an extra 2 mile carry to Lowe's Lake since the Lower Dam is under rehabilitation. Anne and Rob made sure we had every piece of gear dialed in before even letting us head out to the put in (a carry trail in this case). Swift Keewaydin pack boats and the right dry bags for our gear got us as light as we could be for the carries while still having confidence in their durability on the water. Anne and Rob feel like old friends any time I interact with them, whether on the phone, at their shop, or at the put in/take out. At some point, I will be buying a boat, and there is no question that RRO will be the place it happens. Editing to add about additional trips with RRO. My group repeated the Oswegatchie Traverse in 2024. I had yet another super-smooth experience with arrival, check-in, and travel to the put-in for the trip. RRO even entrusted me with a brand new Swift Prospector Pack Boat; I got to put the first scratches in it! The day after this fabulous trip, I realized I forgot to take the blue jay feather I found on the initial carry and used as a talisman for the trip. I had left it in the boat. I called Anne and she looked, but it was gone. What speaks to the true character of RRO is that when I showed up a month later for a trip into the St Regis Canoe area, she presented me with a blue jay feather she had that held personal meaning for her. My point is that while there are other likely excellent outfitters in the Adirondacks, I firmly believe that there are NO better people than Anne, Robby, and their crew.

Nice little pub, friendly owner. Small pints and not the best pour, but it still tasted good. Guinness rating 6/10.
Great staff. I stopped in for a to go fish and fries and had a great chat with the bartender. The food was going to be ready too fast for a beer so she suggested a 1/2. I had a Raquette River Mango wheat and it was great. The food was okay for a pub but get the spicy cheese curds! I only had a few leftovers but they went in the fridge 😁
We had a decent Guinness and the deep fried cheese curds were absolutely delicious. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. We only stopped for a short time on on our way back to Canada but we'll be sure to return for longer next time :)
Not a bad stop but not thrilled with the food. Sliders were dry and over cooked. Fish seemed frozen as the breading slid off the fish. The plastic ware with the meal was an interesting twist. BUT I did enjoy the atmosphere and the service was nice. The outdoor area was fantastic and setup great. The live entertainment area was a great setup in the corner and a real nice place to relax and have a cocktail or 2
1st time there to see some live music. Nice outdoor setting, servers and bartenders were very attentive. Menu is pretty large for a pub. Our party had salads, burgers, and wraps and everyone enjoyed them. Will definitely come back.
Wonderful experience. Staff was excellent. Spoke with the owner as we were leaving complimenting both the food and service. We will make this a part of our annual trip to Tupper Lake! Even live music!
In the area for the weekend to camp and hike Seymour Mountain. Read good reviews on their wings. As my moniker suggests ‘The King of Wings’, I obviously had to be my own judge. Nice small pub that has a great outdoors section with a stage for entertainment. Wings by weight. No half orders. I assume because each $16 order is only 6 wings. Can not split flavors in order. Tonight’s flavors are: Mango Habanero, Sesame Garlic & Bourbon Molasses. Wing quality was on point, big, juicy and meaty. Our server gets 5 stars!!!
Think our server’s name was Chelsea? And she was such a sweetheart. Either way what a nice hidden Gem in a small beautiful town in the Adirondacks. Guess I’ll have to start frequenting Tupper Lake more often, these wings were absolutely amazing. When they say hot, they were hot! Love the local beers from different local breweries, great atmosphere and really clean place. Live entertainment was a nice touch

Trails End is an oasis in a world we all occasionally need a break from. Owned by a man who many consider to be the patriarch of the multiple MC's of the North Country, this is not a "yuppie" or "wannabe" establishment. However, if you are a real biker or at least have an appreciation for them and a working knowledge of common sense...you won't find a better place.
Went for my girl Cassie's bday party this past Sunday and had a BLAST! KILLER SERVICE, STRONG DRINKS, GREAT POOL TABLE EVEN BETTER COMPANY. THANKS CASSIE AND BEARD!!
Nice warm atmosphere in very chilly weather. Christine makes you feel at home. I plan to go back when I have more time to linger and try her famous Bloody Mary.
Beards place has been incredible for decades.
If you're a tavern type person, biker or not, and you don't stop, you missed out, Jay goes the extra mile
Warm and inviting atmosphere with cold beer and great views! We didn’t want to leave and can’t wait to return. Really great vibes
Wonderful place very clean very nice super friendly reasonable prices no food during the fall and winter months so they say. Again super super clean friendly and nice

Casagrain Studio is music to the eyes. There are many wonderful pieces on display. I spent a couple of hours there picking a few pieces to add to my home. Gary is a great artist. His wife Barb adds beautiful Birch frames if you so choose. The two of them are gracious hosts and made a couple of hours fly by. I'm looking forward to another visit.
One of the most talented artists ever! Gary's work is incredible. His art gallery is a must stop in Tupper Lake. I believe everyone should own an original piece of art, why not one of Gary's? If not original, a glicee is the next best thing. Barb & Gary will welcome you with open arms - stop in today!
Great selection of amazing artwork !

What an adorable place! We had a rough start to our vacation and needed to find a laundromat - this was the perfect place! AND they have amazing donuts!? Sign me up! The owner was kind, patient, knowledgeable, and extremely hard working. Glad we ended up here & definitely turned our day around. Definitely recommend! Thank you!
I cannot believe the ratings that this place has I don't really understand this is one of the worst filthy laundromats I've ever been to also the donut shop was closed but if you look how dirty the windows are in the floor is and the whole atmosphere of this place is so gross. Why would people think this is a good place the machines are only triple at the largest and they're only two of those the washing sink is disgusting and if you look inside the area we put the detergent that is disgusting also it's so filthy it makes you wonder if they have a clean the machines so I made a mistake by coming here rather than going to governor. Now I can't wait till we get our washer and dryer. I can't imagine find a good place worse than this except maybe in a third world country
I've never done a wash here but the giftshop is delightful and the fresh cake donuts are to die for!!!
We were looking for coffee and donuts in our drive from North River and saw the sign, at least the donut part of the sign! Upon walking in, we realized we were in a laundromat....but with the best donuts ever! What a treat! Thank you!
Very very good donuts! Made fresh, crispy and soft, great deal also! Peanut butter is my favorite spread on them. Nice place to do laundry, have a snack and there is a native american shop inside also with nice things. Great place for visitors to tupper lake. Must go try the donuts! Its a local favorite.
What a gem! Perfect spot to stop on the way from Lake Placid to 1000 Islands. This is one of the best donuts I have ever had and I love fresh donuts! We went for the maple and it was delicious
Nice, clean, reasonable prices for machines, friendly owner, and the donuts ... the donuts are so soft and fluffy - I prefer powdered sugar or Cinnamon sugar as the frosting is a little much, but they are so, delicious that a plain one is fantastic too.
Iconic donuts & the best place in town to do laundry. A Tupper Lake staple.

We always have a fun time when we go to the bowling alley on our visits home. They have done a great job with their renovation, and the arcade is a fun place for kids.
Horrible experience. Sat at the bar and asked for a menu. Ordered drinks then food within minutes. Then the bartender told us that a flatbread and small order of wings would be take an hour. Hadn’t even had a sip of my drink, so I gave it back and cancelled the food order. We cashed out for one beer, a bottle of Corona. We were charged $9.25. Higher than a beer in NYC!!! When I questioned the bill, she said she had still charged me for my drink! We will never go to this place again!!! .
They only had 5 bowling lanes, and with a league operating, we had to wait over an hour for the only other lane to open. In the meantime, we tried getting a drink, but after an hour and a half, we gave up and left. I'd recommend driving an hour or two to the next bowling alley.

this place has come a long way. good is excellent, service is top notch, arcade is great and they are constantly updating everything and making it nicer
I don’t know anything about the bowling but you’d be hard pressed to find a better spot to watch a sporting event. Our group was there to watch a Bills game and we were able to get our own little area with a couch, chairs, end tables and our own big screen TV. All the comforts of home in a bar full of friendly people it was great. We had a bunch of drinks, snacks, and even ordered a pizza all of which was great and very reasonably priced. I really liked it there the place is great
What an awesome bowling alley. I hadn't been here since I was a kid and was glad to get to see how different it is now. There's tons of arcade games, a huge seating area to drink/eat/watch sports, lots of lanes, music, very nice atmosphere. Food was great, bowling was super affordable, lane availability was good despite the fact that there was lots of people and 2 parties booked for today. We (3 of us) played 3 games for almost 3 hours here today and rented shoes and it was only $42. Between that and lunch it was a fun, affordable place to hang out for the afternoon. We went to Big Z's in Lake Placid a couple weeks ago and paid $79 for shoes and an hour of bowling in not nearly as nice or spacious/inviting atmosphere! We will definitely be returning to Lakeview lanes from now on anytime we want to go bowling. Highly recommend!
Food was exceptional, as always! Great atmosphere and super friendly owners! A definite stop when visiting Tupper Lake!
