I discovered this spot by chance while going to Lees Ferry but the view from here is truly spectacular. After a narrow section of the road between two walls of rock, an endless plain with red rocks and canyons opens up in front of your eyes.
This stunning vista overlooking the entire valley is absolutely breathtaking. At an elevation of approximately 5,000 ft, this viewpoint offers you a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape. From here you will be able to gaze out at the vast expanse of the Colorado Plateau, where the colors of the rock formations seem to change with every hour of the day. We recommend anyone passing through to take a moment to experience the natural wonders and tranquility of this area and do not forget your camera.
Absolutely beautiful viewpoint! Do beware however, MOST of the vendors are reputable and very kind, some not so much. I was fully aware I was buying a fake turquoise necklace, but the vendor lied to my face and tried to convince me it was “real kingman turquoise.” For $30?!?! Be so real with me right now 😂 Really cute necklace though!
Spectacular views of the Vermillion Cliffs and the surrounding area from this scenic pull off.
We always stop here on our way through. Such a cool view. Fun to see all the stickers and maybe put some of your own on there. Some native vendors are often there selling jewelery and such. Easy stop, cool views.
Local community members with Western Navajo Nation Bodaway, Cedar Ridge, Bitter Springs selling gemstone necklaces, bracelets, earrings and similar sterling silver earrings, bracelets, necklaces and etc.
Amazing views, Indian Pottery to purchase, and great place to stop and stretch.
Was great. The vendor's were very nice. I love stopping and looking at there goods. Also had to buy a turquoise ring

Admission is free, so buy something in the gift shop if you want to support conservation & local Native Americans. The views from inside are fantastic with large glass windows overlooking the dam. There are a lot of exhibits and things to read on the inside, with ample air conditioning to escape the heat, and a small dinosaur footprint exhibit outside that you might not pay attention to, if you don't know it's there. They had a movie program starting but I did not have time to stay for it as I was just passing through. I would definitely stop here again, and allow more time to explore as the bridge right next door appears to allow foot traffic over the canyon.
Great place to know about the dam, power plant and bridge. There is a movie theater in the premises where we can watch the documentary about the place. The entry is free and washrooms are good. Nice open space for parking.
The center is located off U.S. Highway 89 on the north side, just after you cross the Glen Canyon Dam Bridge or on the west side of the Colorado River. Here you will find a large visitors’ center, a dinosaur track display, and to the rear, a large viewing area overlooking the dam itself. There is plenty of free parking including a large oversize vehicle parking lot on the west side of the center. The center itself is part of the Glen Canyon Dam complex and provides information about the dam and the surrounding area. Inside the center there are numerous exhibits, a theater with a short video about the dam and surrounding area, a gift shop, restrooms, and a large observation deck to the rear of the center. The center is the primary visitor center for Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and Rainbow Bridge National Monument and is part of the National Park Service (NPS).
This is worthy of stopping by... do not pass it up! Hands-on, informative, and surprisingly better than I expected. Dam, it was amazing! (The dad core joke was there, I had to go for it.) 😅 Seriously, worthy of checking out and it's free! Kids will like it too! (See me in the kid section)
Impressive place, landscape in the area is amazing, visitors center had a simple but informative display of the dam building, area maps, history and local heritage. Nice gift shop look for their clearance deals! Pretty busy place.
In Page AZ we hiked Car Crash Canyon to the Colorado River. The trail begins at the dog pound. It was your own canvas over the rugged canyon. In it, around it, mapping your own trail!
Small museum with gift shop, good views, free. No tours at this time (per staff, no tours since COVID). Expect about 1/2 to one hour. Great views of the dam. Also reasonably priced souvenirs and, as is important in roadtrips, bathrooms.
Kids can enjoy from the junior ranger program, and fill an assignment book. The rangers are very kind and take the time for you to swear you in as junior ranger. The bridge and the dam can easily be viewed from the visitor center through a huge glass window providing excellent views.

We drove 700 miles into Page expecting to find a motel room. None to be found left us scrambling for options. My wife found Cliff Dwellers Lodge, made a phone call and secured 2 rooms. Veronica was very helpful in the office accommodating us. Got check in at 8pm and headed for the restaurant for food and a few drinks to settle the dust. Kaitlyn greeted us at the door and took good care of us with the orders. Food was prepared perfectly and promptly. Rooms were a 9. Beds, pillows, shower were all 10s! Television channels are a bit restricted from normal these days. Internet access was fast. At the suggestion of Sam, the manager, we hiked into White Pocket for an amazing adventure. ( Thanks OnX) Spent 45 minutes at the California Condor site. Very interesting. Liked Cliff Dwellers so well, we decided to extend our stay another night. The place is a gem, hidden in the midst of the Vermillion Cliffs district. Highly recommend!
Restaurant service great!! Food good just wish more healthy options outside of salad. Fish tacos weren’t available ! Jeep battery died, owner (I think) helped jump start and lent us battery cables to take with us for the day!! Greatly appreciated!! Stunning scenery!!!
Our backhaul Captain,Amber was FANTASTIC. She pointed out so many interesting features of the canyon on our backhaul up river. She is a KEEPER. I called a week in advance to let the restaurant know that there would be a large group of us for dinner Thursday. I let them know we would would like chicken wings. I was very disappointed at dinner, at 6pm, when they were all sold out. I had soup for dinner. : ( Over all, front desk, was fantastic, we booked 0730, 6 months in advance, they were able to add rooms, and change backhaul times, and have it all straightened out when we arrived.
The rooms are very nice & comfortable, & are reasonably priced. The area is one of my favorites- the views are incredible & it has close access to the Colorado River. And not far from Jacob Lake cookies & incredible fall color. The food is exceptional. I sometimes drive up from the Phoenix area just for lunch.
We had a lovely stay before a powerboat trip up the Colorado River. The beds were super comfy. The availability of goods and shwag in the store kept us occupied while waiting for the delicious coffee to kick in for others. We will be back.
The lodge was perfect for our adventure, practice, clean and amazing to study the landscape and stones of the building. We had dinner after an epic sunset and Brooke our server was very friendly and prompt. She offered food suggestions on the menu and was very accommodating to our table requests. I am telling all my friends about this place.
Nice room, bathroom could have a table or something to put essentials on since vanity is small. Older Hotel with some remodeling. Bed was really comfortable. Wish tv had Netflix.
Stayed a few nights here in August on both ends of a rafting/camping trip through the Grand Canyon. I had an excellent stay both times - very comfortable and clean rooms, wonderfully warm staff, decent prices, and an incredible location inside the Vermillion Cliffs National Monument! It’s a bit of a remote location (which I loved) but the lodge has everything you could possibly need - a really great on-site restaurant, general store, gas station, and they even do their own guided fishing trips and kayak rentals complete with backhaul drop offs to a launch point of your choice. And even though you’re a bit of a captive audience, their prices are surprisingly pretty reasonable - even for the gas! The lodge is currently split into two sections - one has been recently renovated and one hasn’t. I stayed in a double queen room in the renovated section and a single king room in the non-renovated section. Both rooms were spotlessly clean and very cozy - but I definitely prefer the renovated rooms - simply because they have a superior bathroom layout/shower - The shower in the non-renovated room was very rudimentary- almost like one you’d find in an RV - and there was very little counterspace. And the TVs include an option to log into your streaming apps to watch your fave shows. But the beds were both very comfortable in both rooms - the mattresses felt very supportive but not overly hard - seemed like temperpedic quality. The decor in the renovated rooms is very desert-cowboy-chic - but the non-renovated room was super retro - more like a 70s spaghetti western style lol. There are refrigerators and Keurig coffee makers in all the rooms - renovated and non-renovated alike. All the rooms have outside patio seating but it’s not private. I was next to the restaurant in the non-renovated room and was worried it might be too loud but I didn’t hear a thing - it was peaceful and quiet! Speaking of the restaurant- the food is absolutely fantastic! I ate two dinners here and a breakfast and loved it all. They also have a unique dessert - avocado pie! Highly recommend! Everything here is family owned and all the staff were friendly, welcoming, and very helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and fully intend to return bc there’s SO much to explore in the area - especially if you love the desert outdoors!

Amazing people! Incredible experience! I went on my own. As a woman from the city who only goes kayaking every now and then, I was a little nervous at first, but they made me feel so safe and welcomed. Gave me great information/safety tips/checked up on me throughout the trip. Would highly recommend to anyone.
We had an amazing experience again on the annual river trip. We had a group of Ladies from the age range of 34-55+. The weather was great, We did get the afternoon winds here and there that blew 15-20 miles an hour. we pulled over and played until it stopped. Bring lots of Water, snacks, hats and coverage (sun screen, long sleeve shirts or covers for your shoulders. What a great way to celebrate the summer solstices. Honoring the canyon walls, the river and all the species that live their.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Unforgettable Experience with Kayak the Colorado! I can’t say enough good things about my trip with Kayak the Colorado! From the moment we booked, the customer service was top-notch—friendly, helpful, and genuinely passionate about what they do. The experience itself was absolutely incredible. Drifting down the Colorado River surrounded by stunning natural beauty, I got to do all the things I love most—fishing, relaxing, and spending quality time with great friends. Every moment felt like something out of a postcard. If you’re looking for an adventure that’s peaceful, fun, and deeply memorable, this is it. Whether you’re an outdoor enthusiast or just want a break from the hustle, Kayak the Colorado delivers in every way. I’ll definitely be back!
🙋🏻‍♂️People: Logan was our captain. He was chill, and you could tell he likes his job. I appreciated him taking the time to point out different things along the river — wild horses, geological features, and restrooms. We appreciated his tips on navigating the river. He was right, that last mile is a long bit, so don't use up all your energy early on. 🎈 Experience: We utilized the backhaul service to take our paddleboards up the river. I used their services because their website was easy to navigate, and scheduling was super simple. We received a detailed email telling us what to do and expect upon arrival--instructions were clear. Our gear was loaded up quickly, and the seating was comfortable. The boat we rode up in was clean and comfortable. ,🚀 Do It Again? Sure would! Thanks for the haul!
Used Kayak The Colorado for our kayak rental and backhaul taxi past Horseshoe Bend, and the whole experience was incredible. The boat captain, Tyler, was super nice and really elevated the trip — he gave us great pointers on landmarks and made the ride upriver fun and informative. Everything felt smooth and well-organized, and the staff clearly knew what they were doing. It was an awesome way to experience the Colorado River and see the canyon from a completely different perspective.
Our trip with Kayak the Colorado was nothing short of incredible. From the moment we arrived, everything was smooth, organized, and right on schedule. The backhaul service was top-notch: safe, efficient, and run by people who clearly love what they do. Tim, our captain, was a highlight of the experience. He’s the kind of guide you hope for. Easy to talk to, full of great stories and local history, and someone who genuinely enjoys sharing the beauty of the river. As we made our way upstream, he pointed out campsites, wildlife, and hidden gems we would’ve easily missed on our own. The inflatable tandem kayak served us well, though I would have preferred the option of a solid canoe. That small detail aside, everything exceeded expectations. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend Kayak the Colorado to anyone looking for a memorable river adventure.
SO MUCH FUN!! Highly recommended. A peaceful, yet adventurous way to see this area. Tyler was a great backhaul guide, stopping to let us warm up during the pretty frigid morning ride, and at the same time, giving information about the area: the dam, the wildlife we could potentially see, all while flawlessly piloting the boat over some pretty shallow areas at times. Sean was helpful during booking (which I did over the phone). All around a great experience. My visit was during mid-September, perfect weather. Recommend booking during that time of year.
What an incredible trip. The boat ride up was great to start. The captain pointed out key spots to stop at and gave a little history along the way. We stopped at the petroglyphs and did the 10 mile paddle back. The views were incredible and the current was good until the last 2-3 miles (then we had some wind against us). It is a long paddle so be prepared and bring lots of water, snacks, long sleeves, hat, sunglasses, and even something to cover your legs. Sunscreen is no match for the sun out here and there is no shade after about 10 AM. We soaked our towels in the water and put them over our legs or on our neck. Drenched our hats along the way too. The water is super cold but feels so good after paddling in the sun for a while. We skipped the hike at mile 4 because it was so much hotter off the water. We were wiped by the end of the trip, but it is absolutely worth it for the views and experience.

1. There is a small sign on the left side of the road, and nothing at all on the right side, and I was looking to the right, so it is easy to drive past this. Park in the (first?) wideout area on the left (west) side of the road, as shown in an attched photo. After you park there's a board about the trail. Then walk north on the sidewalk, down some stairs, and go under the road and then you'll be in it. 2. We loved this trail, and it is a thrill from the very first moment. It is then ever-changing with new walls and countours. It was fun and easy and often shaded. You can turn around anytime, as we did after about 15 minutes, and still have had a gorgeous hike. 3. There is a lot to draw your attention on the way there - the Navajo Bridge, Cathedral rock, and near this is Balanced Rock, so allow enough time to enjoy these other areas, too. 4. Buy a UPF-50 rated shirt with a hood on Amazon, such as that by Isnowood, which I had. They are lightweight, no undershirt necessary, and huge for avoiding sunburn. UPF-5O pants are great, too. People in t-shirts and shorts were getting burned up.
It's a fun and challenging hike through a beautiful, rugged canyon. There are several challenging spots, but all have well-worn paths that require some scrambling or easy climbing.
Cathedral Wash Trailhead – A Breathtaking Challenge This hike is absolutely breathtaking! The views are stunning, and the challenge is real. It’s not an easy walk, but that’s what makes it so rewarding. The trail itself can be a bit tricky to navigate—there are no clear markings, so figuring out the path was half the fun. I loved the sense of adventure in finding my way through it. There are also some pretty big drops along the way, so you’ll need to carefully figure out where to go down and remember the right spots to climb back up when returning. The scenery along Lees Ferry Road is incredible, with the unique desert landscape adding to the overall experience. If you're looking for something that tests your skills but rewards you with spectacular views, Cathedral Wash is definitely worth it.
$30 per vehicle for a pass. Hard because of climbing down/scrambling up and down rock tables, not because of the cardio. 2-3 hrs roundtrip for some reason it was not clear on AllTrails or even when driving in where to pay for the $30 pass so don’t miss the little sign on the right side of the road right after there’s a “pay station” sign. We missed it and went all the way to the boat landing and had to turn around!! It wasn’t obvious to us. This was such an epic hike! It’s easier to get down on the right side when you see the canyon drop down.
Very fun trail to hike. It involves a good amount of scrambling so you'll enjoy it if that's your thing. Some pretty big drops but there is usually a reasonably doable way down, though might involve some searching first. The canyon ends at the Colorado river for a refreshing swim. Loved it.
This was my families favorite hike while staying at Page, AZ. Two kids ages 9&11. Parking was a small section right before the entrance on the side of the road, very easy to pass up so make sure to use your ALL Trails map to find it. There were some areas that were difficult to navigate with a 50-100 foot fall if you were not careful. You mostly stay on the right side of the trail most of the way. People have left rock markers on where the best part to climb up or down are, make sure to follow those. Do not recommend for dogs at all or when it's raining or even after a rain fall. Took our family about 3 hours round trip to complete, but we took our time getting to the river. On the way back it was much faster. You take this hike to the river and back. There were only a few hikers we saw. There was an older couple that had to turn around at the most difficult part of the hike- you will know it when you get there.
Wow!! This hike is absolutely beautiful. The beginning is not hard at all, just wait. It’s gets challenging. It took us about 1hr and 15 mins to get to the river and about an hour back. The way there you have to figure out which side of the rocks to take and where to put your feet. When the wind picks up there is a lot of sand that blows through the trail. I would highly suggest sunglasses to save your eyes. We all loved the hike. Free parking, very quiet trail with very little foot traffic.
Adventurous hike down to the Colorado River. We worked well as a team. Closer to 2 miles one way, so about 4 miles round trip. Our youngest was 7 and did fine but I wouldn't recommend it if your child is reckless or much younger due to the cliff drops. We loved the trip as much as other hikes we've done. Huge walls of rock, fun scrambling which is safe if you take your time and scout the trail appropriately. The river access is calm just down the stream of the exit from the trail only 30 yards. We went mid November and that was perfect with a light jacket. Mostly fully dry in the wash.

My family of 5 had a awesome day of fishing with Mike!! We caught 45 rainbows. The scenery was stunning and Mike did a great job. I would highly recommend and return sometime.
We just got off the river, after a successful day of spin fishing for amazing trout. This was our 3rd awesome trip with Mike, and we will be back!
hooked into 15 nice sized trout, mike is a great guy with many stories, my only complaints would be that he didn’t used barbless hooks (it is the law to use them), didn’t wet his hands when he handled the trout (makes it so that their skin stays intact) and threw his plastic baits into the water, but other than that he is a great guide!
