We went rafting with a group of friends and had an amazing experience with River & Trail Outfitters! The entire staff was friendly, professional, and well-organized, making the whole adventure smooth and enjoyable. A special shoutout to our tour guide, Tom (Tommy) — he was incredibly informative, funny, and kept the group both safe and entertained throughout the trip. His energy and knowledge made the day even better. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a fun and memorable outdoor experience. Definitely a trip to remember!
The Scouts feedback was this was outstanding! They really enjoyed Whitewater Rafting and Kayaking. They really enjoyed the guides in both whitewater rafting and kayaking. The camp ground and staff was also on top of their game! Thanks for allow our troop to create memories that will be lasting!
We had an amazing time on our first white-water rafting trip. Being on the water was so peaceful, and the rapids were fun and manageable. (On our next trip, we'll probably go for slightly more challenging rapids.) Our raft guide, Drew, was fantastic. He wanted us to have the best experience possible! We hope to go out on the water with River & Trail Outfitters again soon!
Great adventure with kids, the river was lovely, water clear, lots of wildlife. Our guide Brent was a real delight, we all had great time. Highly recommended if you’re feeling adventurous!
My children and I went white water rafting with River and Trail Outfitters on 7/21/2025. It was an amazing time! While traveling down the river, we were welcomed by bald eagles and a golden eagle. The staff was excellent! Not only did our guide go out of their way to ensure we had a great time, but he also shared some of his historical knowledge of Harpers Ferry. Also, the entire trip was safe and professional. I highly recommend rafting with River and Trail Outfitters, I am certain you will have an excellent time.
I had an amazing time with friend on the rafts. I think the instructions prior to the event. Iuld have been given in a more detailed manner especially for persons joining for the first time. Other than this small but important detail, we had a blast.
Amazing experience with all my coworkers! The guides were professional, fun, and knowledgeable. We felt safe and had a very enjoyable time. Thank you!
We took our young boys white water rafting with River & Trail Outfitters and had the best time! The guides were amazing—fun, friendly, and so knowledgeable. They made us feel safe the entire trip while keeping it exciting and full of laughs. Our guide Kai was the best! Such a great family experience that we’ll definitely do again. Highly recommend!

A great way to end our camping trip. Our saturday ride got bumped to sunday due to rain, but it worked out really well as sunday 9 am was cool, sunny, and no clouds in sight. Our group ended up being just the four of us and the staff was very friendly and patient with us as we are all complete beginners. We did the 1.5 hour ride and we were really glad we chose that instead of the shorter time we were going to do at first. The trail was fun, going through the woods with rocky slopes and narrow paths keeping it exciting and interesting. We also got to see many deer up close along the way. Guiding the horse was really easy as they know the path well, just got to guide them around low hanging branches and stop them from eating everything in sight :)
Wow!!! 6 stars!! It was a gorgeous ride! The scenery was absolutely beautiful!! Such a lovely place to ride!! I just have to thank God for creating such beautiful forests and fields and mountains(and horses:)) for us to enjoy!! What a wonderful creator He is!! Highly recommend this place!! Very relaxing afternoon!! Go in September...it's just gorgeous!!
So happy we chose to come here for my daughters first riding experience. She turned 7 and for her birthday, we took her horse back riding. It was the best experience! The instructors were so nice and down to earth, they were so patient with myself and my daughter, and took us on a beautiful trail. I would recommend this to anyone!
Staff was professional and friendly, and gave detailed instructions prior to trail on what to do. They knew their stuff. The horses were beautiful and extremely well behaved. First time here, but will definitely be going back again. Highly recommend for a relaxing afternoon activity and lovers of animals and the outdoors. The trail also had beautiful views!
The guides were great very knowledgeable and understanding that this was their first ride the ride through the woods was gentle and enjoyable we had a great time will be back
My wife and I went to Elk Mountain Trail for a ride with Michelle. We had a wonderful time. Michelle couldn't have been any nicer. She made sure we were comfortable to ride and then hit the trail. The horses were very sweet and had lots of personality. It really couldn't have been a nicer time. All of the horses looked great and we're all very nice. The farm lands were beautiful with lots of nature to take in. Thanks again Michelle, we look forward to riding with you again.
My son and I did the 1 hour trail ride and it was a lot of fun! My son smiled nonstop. Frank was a wonderful guide. He did a great job picking out the horses for each person and explaining how to guide your horse and what to do during the ride for beginners like us. We got to ride Mistical and Nugget. They were very good horses. We will definately be back if were ever in the area again.
First, I went on the 1 ½ hour Mountain Top Trail Ride with a few friends and it was a lot of fun. Although it was a hot day, it was cool in the woods. The horses were very nice and got along well without any misbehaving. The trail guides were also very nice and you could tell they really card about the horses. I am an experienced rider as well as my friends, and we were not bored. It's always nice to see new places on horseback. We did have one beginner with us which was also fine as we were only walking. I went back again with a group of 9 people for the 4 hour dinner ride. I was impressed with how well everything went. They had three guides for us that communicated with each other via walkie talkie. I have been other places that did not have enough guides and the problem with that is sometimes people get left behind or you can't hear the directions up at the front. If something had gone wrong, the guide would not have known. This shows that Elk Mountain Trail is top notch when it comes to the safety of it's riders. Barbara and SHiloh were always very pleasant to talk to on the phone. Even though we were all experienced riders, we were still given safety directions. The dinner after the ride was very good and we had a blast sitting around telling stories around the campfire. We are definitely going to go back to Elk Mountain Trails! They offer a variety of scenery, time lengths, and skill levels (beginner and advanced). They even have a saddle paddle ride which can be booked through River Riders. It is a morning 1 1/2 hour Mountain Top Trail Ride and the afternoon on the river either rafting or tubing.

Excellent place to come for a hiking. We'll organize a very clean hike trail. It's all flat paths about 15 to 20 feet wide. Steep hill going up ND pleasant slope coming back. Except for the slope going uphill, all the rest is a breeze. It's hard and takes all.out of you but keep it to study and before you know it you are up. No food or water is available on the trail. 3.5 hours are going up and 45 minutes coming down. Beautiful view from the top.
Maryland Heights Trailhead is a great trail to hike it's well maintained and great landmarks to see and the view of Harpers Ferry from the lookout just splendid, on this trail it's a bit difficult to find a parking lot near the town and the climb up to the mountain has a hard steep bring enough water and rest ones in a while. Seeing the train pass by was amazing stay safe and look out on the trails.
Maryland Heights is a must-do hike! We parked at the Harpers Ferry Visitor Center and took the free shuttle down to the trailhead, which made parking super convenient. The hike took us about 4 hours round trip and was medium intensity with a good amount of elevation — an excellent cardio workout. The view from the top is stunning, overlooking Harpers Ferry and the rivers. We carried food and had a picnic at the summit, which made the experience even more special. Many nice restaurants with the river view at Harper’s Ferry after the hike. Overall, a fantastic hike with convenient access, great exercise, and a very rewarding finish.
incredible views. all up hill on the way up, but all down on the way back. can be short or long depending on if you do the loop with multiple vistas. we ate 1st so we didnt feel like hiking more than we needed. great place for photos. the view honestly doesn't even feel real its so dang picturesque
It was a bit confusing to find the walking path. We'd been here once before, and the bridge was closed. There was no sign when we walked across the bridge, so I was confused and didn't know which way to go. So, we came back again today, ready to hike! The stairs were open for us to pass through the pathways. So now I'm telling you! 1. Set your map to the "railroad parking path." It's in the old town, behind The Rabbit Hole restaurant. 2. Then, walk across the bridge, and you'll see the stairs going down; turn left. 3. Keep walking until you see the sign. Cross that small bridge (I have a picture). 4. Then you can enjoy your walk. Going up took me 95 minutes, and walking down took about 30 minutes. 5. It's quite steep, so grab a stick on the way up. Prepare yourself! I wanted to challenge myself, so I walked, and woah! I made it! Today it's very windy, 40 km/hr. Okay, enjoy! I went on Halloween day 2025.
Excellent hike with phenomenal views if you make it to the top! It's not a trivial hike - there are steep grades and a lot of rock towards the end so you should bring water and a solid pair of shoes. The trail is wide at most points for big groups and pets but narrow in a few points by the artillery battery site where you might want long pants in case of ticks. The real reward is the overlook at the end. It tends to get crowded (we went on a Monday) so be prepared to wait for pictures.
Beautiful landscape view from the top and the uphill elevation hike is worth..This place have many options for accomodation and eateries around.
Lots of people on the trail. We took the long hike to avoid some of the crowds. It worked. The view to Harpers Ferry is beautiful in autumn.

Wow, what an amazing place to pick blueberries. I read about the farm in one of the travel brochures you can pick up in visitor centers and started following them on Facebook last year. When I saw it was picking time my family and I made the trip there on a Sunday in early July. The farm was easy to find with navigation but definitely easy to miss if you don't know where it is. The opening hours at that point were 7am to 12pm. We got there 10:30ish. There were some cars parked but it wasn't over crowded. And there's enough room for everyone to spread out. The surrounding area is beautiful. We picked up 2 little buckets and started picking. The owners were very nice and said there are 20 different kind of blueberries growing and they encourage you to taste the berries to see which ones you like best. They also offered free bottles of water. It was super fun to walk through all the rows and try all the berries. At the end they weighed the berries and you had to pay. Be prepared to pay cash, venmo or by check. There is a portable potty on the farm. All in all the experience was nice, nothing fancy about the farm, just old fashioned blueberry picking which we enjoyed as a family. If you are looking for delicious blueberries and a family outing look no further. I hope to pick more berries next year!
A great place to have a little family blueberry picking adventure. The farm is very picturesque. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The price for blueberries is very very reasonable. In about an hour or so we picked about 6 pounds of blueberries then went home and made some delicious mini blueberry pies and still have a ton blueberries left over for lunches this week!
Frog Eye Farm is the best blueberry patch around! The staff is incredibly nice and make the experience at the farm very enjoyable! The blueberry bushes are well cared for, well spaced, and the farm offers many varieties of blueberries to pick from! The staff encouraged us to try the different types of blueberries we liked most to pick! We will definitely be back to this lovely place and look forward to making this place a go to farm!
This is such a lovely blueberry farm! Tracy was so kind and welcoming. They encourage you to snack on the blueberries as you pick them and they provide baskets to put the blueberries into. They have tons of bushes, a handwashing station, a very clean portapotty, and even offer you water! It was a really fun experience and I would definitely come again :) the blueberries were also super fresh! They don’t use pesticides or anything either.
Our first trip of the season was a success! The owner, Dan, is so kind, humble, and his staff are just as sweet as their blueberries. Highly recommend a trip whether you are solo, or a family! We will be returning each year ❤️
Can't recommend this place enough! Delicious berries and even better service. Five star all the way! Nearly an hour away for us but would drive twice this far to support this incredible family-run family-friendly business. We definitely plan to come back--hopefully many times!
I'm not sure why people come here. Berries were expensive for the quality. Not my first rodeo picking berries; so, when I tried some they were really tart and not sweet. Also not sure if I believe their alleged "organic" practices. Looks like they spray pesticides or some kind of weed killer on their crops. Perhaps why their harvest is so bad. I think I'm going to continue supporting my local farms rather than venture out here again.
My 3 year old and I went this morning for the first time and WOW! Jenn (not sure if she is the owner?) was the kindest human and made it a point to make my kiddo feel special and get to know us. I saw her offering to take family photos and engaged with each and every person who walked up. The blueberries were AMAZING and we got to walk around the beautiful land and pick as we pleased from all the different varieties. (We’ve been other places and told we could only pick from ONE BUSH) so this was a nice change. Not to mention they don’t use any pesticides or chemicals. All around amazing place and amazing staff. We will be back!!
