Awesome experience. The crew over at Edge of the Woods really set you up to have a great time. They stopped to show us where we would be picked up and even gave us a few spots to stop to fish and swim. We did an overnight camping canoe trip and had a great time. They even went above and beyond helped us pick great campsites to stay at and send me the links where to reserve them. They had an answer to every one of our questions. Already want to do another trip in September and will definitely be using them again.
Been rafting on the Delaware before but not with EOTWO. We are a family of 4 plus a small senior pup, and we went with EOTWO when I found out they were dog friendly. So glad we did! From booking to checking in to getting our life jackets the process was smooth. Jacob gave us a safety briefing then drove us to the starting point where he gave us some more instructions. He was there to pick us up at the end of the trip. Thanks to his friendly attitude we quickly felt comfortable and safe getting onto the raft and paddling along. We will definitely be back next time we go back to the Poconos!
Edge of the Woods are an excellent choice for Kayaking. Our first time on the river here at the Delaware Gap and the folks couldn’t be friendlier or more helpful! They take you to the river side and pick you up at the end. We shared a kayak and after the first 3 hours decided to venture further to the 10mile mark over some light rapids. Exhilarating and fun! The place has ample parking, portaloos, and dressing rooms. Take a waterproof bag if you intend on going down the rapids - we didn’t and we got a bit wet - but it was worth it 👍🏼 06/20/25. We intend on returning 💫
Edge of the Woods Outfitters never lets me down! This is a great spot conveniently located just over the Gap in Pennsylvania. They offer Tubes, kayaks, floats, and canoes to use on the Delaware River. The check-in process is seamless and they will take you and your group to the dboat launch at Smithville Beach to begin your 4, 6, or 10-mile float. Depending on the time of year and the weather you really don't have to do any super heavy paddling just enjoy the day and the current will take you downstream. They provide all the necessary equipment for your day's Adventure and all you have to do is show up with hats, sunblock, water shoes, and some food and beverages and you'll have a great afternoon. We went midweek and had the Delaware River Gap to ourselves. It was great to get out of the city and be able to hear nothing but the birds and the dragonflies buzzing around.
We visited on a Saturday afternoon in late June 2025. It was a sunny and warm day and the parking area was packed with cars. We had to park up on the hill kind of crooked as we went over to check in. Another group got back and left leaving a couple better spot open much closer and under the shade of trees. There are also no real defined parking spots. Check-in went smooth and we filled our water bottles and used the restroom. They took our car keys and told us to go over to the sign and get life jackets and we would get more directions. It was kind of like a rolling registration and the times were much more loosey goosey. The goal was to get the 10 mile trip in. They kind of keep this very loosey goosey too. They said as long as you get to the Kittatinny Point by 4PM you're allowed to keep going to do the 10 miles. They told us to get into a van that just pulled up and people jumped out. We were like awesome, it's just us. Then as we're about to pull out some other staff member flags them down and ask them to take another group of 4. So we have to scoot over and let everyone else in. The drive there was pretty uneventful. We asked our driver if we arrived around 2:30 if he thinks we could make it the 6 miles by 4PM to do the whole 10 miles? He's like yeah, you could totally do it. We were trying to do the math and think it possible. We figured okay, we're going to paddle like hell to make it to Kittatinny Point (6 miles in) by 4PM. So we jumped out the van and there were kayaks there waiting for us. They told us to pick which ones we wanted and we were off at about 2:45 from Smithfield Beach. We didn't really stop much to enjoy the view or the wildlife. We just paddled and only stopped briefly to figure out our location we took turns resting and for water breaks. We had 5 people in our crew. 2 tandem kayaks and 1 solo. We're in our late 30s and our kids are 10, 13 and 16. We've done over 2 dozen kayaking excursions and older kids have done kayaking merit badge with scouts. We've swamped them and flipped them. I would say we're not professionals but way more experienced than your average joe. We've kayaked on rivers, oceans and lakes/ponds and even whitewater. We own 3 kayaks and were very confident in our skills. However it was 3:45 and we still had like 3/4 of a mile to go and we were SOOO tired. We decided to call it incase we got there too late and they wouldn't let us proceed and we didn't get to enjoy the water at all. So we just pulled over and took our time for that last 3/4 of a mile. We slowly drifted and took pictures and just tried to enjoy ourselves for that last little bit. So we finally got the the 6 mile point and pulled our kayaks out. A little disappointed already from not being able to complete the full 10 miles we wanted. We were also there fairly early. They told us to go wait up top and a van would come get us. We got to the top and a van was already there but they were already full and we didn't want to split our party so we decided to wait for the next one. We're sitting at the pavilion tables waiting for the next van. The next van takes a min and were tired and waiting but when the next van pulls up. A large group of kayakers just arrives and runs from the stairs and jumps into the van as we're still gather our belongings. Now there aren't enough seats. If we had to wait for ANOTHER van that was going to be the end of it. The driver was able to convince a couple folks to get off so that we could go back first since we had been waiting since the last van had left. The reason for the minus one star was the bad info given to us by the first driver saying it would easily be do-able 6 miles in 75 mins. We rushed and didn't even get to enjoy the majority of our trip. We really wanted to hit the larger rapids. We also had issues with the return trip and not being super organized. Then also the difficulty with the parking and not having enough spaces. So overall it was a combination of a bunch of small things that made me take the star away. Overall it was a good trip. We would do it again.
Absolutely recommend this place! I’ve gone rafting and tubing with a few different companies in the area, but this one is by far the best. They are super organized — check-in was quick and easy, parking is right on site, no long waits, and their life vests are great quality. I also loved that they have a little shop in case you forget something like a towel, sunscreen, or a hat. We did the Smithfield Trail to Kittatinny route and it was beautiful. The only thing to note is that this trail has quite a bit of aquatic grass, which makes it a little harder to find a good spot to stop and swim. But overall, it was such a wonderful experience.
Took the bus into Delaware Water Gap to spend a couple of nights camping on the river. edge of the woods was extremely accommodating and helped make a loose plan into a great adventure
My oh my, what an experience we had. Although the river was low, it made it possible to make some pit stops along the way and take in the beautiful scenery. The staff were friendly and informative. We had a fantastic time rafting on the river.

The Dutot Museum is a gem. The contributors host terrific art shows. They also showcase historic items, including the schoolhouse setting that it actually was. It's worth the stop on your way to hear jazz at the Deerhead Inn, dinner at the Sycamore Grill, or after a Delaware River float with Edge of the Woods Outfitter.
An absolute gem of a museum and a highlight of my trip to Pennsylvania. The artists were there in person, and we had a great conversation about art. The upstairs history section was also great. Loved seeing the school photos dating back to pre-1900 (Kids' faces truly never change!)
Small museum and gallery in the Delaware Water Gap its very cool it used to be an old school house in the late 1800 and early 1900’s definitely check it out when you get a chance. They play a short movie about the area and shows a lit of photos and artifacts from the early days of the town.
Beautifully curated gallery featuring many gifted local / regional artists. Intimate museum space with a focus on DWG and the surrounding geography, much of which is now a popular National Recreation Area. Lovely afternoon respite from the hustle and bustle. No entry fee, but a small donation is requested. Support small galleries and museums... they are an important part in our history, present and future!
Delaware Water Gaps secret place. Great place to visit. Learn about the area and discover some great talented artist and their works. You wont be disappointed. No tickets needed. Donation only.
We saw a friend’s painting exhibition here. The space is wonderful, clean, well cared for, and extremely well lighted. Everything you need in a gallery. The staff were warm and friendly. The opening reception was exquisite! The space added to the fine art we came to see. The outside is well kept also; beautiful gardens.
Truly a Gem! This historic schoolhouse features a gorgeous art gallery with high calibre regional art, and upstairs, an exquisite historical collection and an old time classroom. The facility has a kitchen and is ideal for small events: Parking in the neighborhood is ample, and the grounds are lovely. Find the Dutot Museum off the eastern most PA exist on route 80, exit 309. Delaware Water Gap is a folksy, fun little village right on the Delaware River, nestled at the base of Mt. Minsi Appalachian Trail access, with fantastic restaurants and some local crafts and boutique shopping.... so there is plenty of fun nearby! In April, the Dutot hosts the Delaware River Eco Film & Earth Fest, with sustainable crafters and farmers, childrens faerie costume parade, and screenings of the most relevant ecologic films. 2013, the Fest will feature Bidder 70, Living Downstream and Gasland, and take place Sat April 20 and Sunday April 21
Excellent out of the way museum 5o learn more than expected about the culture and hardships of the people who lived and worked in Gap during the early 1900's. Museum staff was equally as awesome and friendly. Wonderful experience!!

Upper Hornbeck’s is dangerous and challenging for younger athletic people lower Hornbeck is fantastic for older people and has various bridges and walkways really beautiful walk.
July 19, we visited the place but it is very neglected, there were many fallen trees right where the water fills and you couldn't swim, the place is very hidden, which makes it a good place to relax. It just needs more care.
Beautiful place. We walked till the first fall. We came 2 days after a storm, so there were a lot af water in the creek. The fall was amazing. Near the big fall, was a small creek with small fall, my kids enjoyed getting wet and climb to the top of the small fall. We were alone in the trail. Recommended!
Sweet and short! Only about 1.5 miles each way. Brought a 5 year old, which she did easily but there are many narrow trail spots that made it a little difficult. Dogs allowed, too!
Beautiful trail that leads to a nice waterfall. Parking lot holds around 8 cars but plenty of parking across the street.
There are two trail heads for accessing the marveleous series of waterfalls on Hornbecks Creek (see topo map for details). To walk upstream, turn right onto an unsigned ,single lane gravel road 100 yards south of Chestnut Ridge Road, which leads to a small parking area. Follow the well marked, mostly level path upstream to a series of waterfalls and races to the first large waterfall. Continue upstream on a steep path that leads to a larger waterfall and views into the steep and narrow gorge that confines Hornbecks Creek. Alternatively, park on Emory Road and walk the Hornbecks Creek Gorge from West to East. A round-trip hike, between Emory Road and US209 takes approximately 2 hrs. Also be aware that there are numerous trees across the upper (western) half of the trail, which will have to be climbed over or under, but don't be discouraged, it''s worth the effort!
Great hike, beautiful scenery! Heaven is under our feet as well as over our heads....Hiking today this amazing trail in the beautiful Poconos just 90 miles from New York. Worth over and over. Easy, picturesque, peaveful, serene, fresh clean air, ideal for families.
Love this place! It's never crowded and it's perfect for swimming during summer.
