We arrived a little early as we new the GPS guidance would be a problem, and it was, a little. As we got closer, we followed the signs which really made it easy! We had arrived early and reserved a table for lunch (amazing!) and then took the 'remarkable tour' with Alexis as the guide. Alexis was also remarkable! It really is a fascinating tour, and the property from the visitors center (more like art gallery!) to the gift shop, to the rickhouse, tasting room celler, and grounds are just stunning! Our hands down favorite place for dining, and tour! A must on everyones visit to the bourbon trail, and we are already planning the next visit here!
What fun! Our tour guide, Bailey, was so much fun! She made the tour very enjoyable! Loved hearing the history of Maker's Mark. I'm not a bourbon drinker, my husband is. We both enjoy doing distillery tours and this one was top notch! We had lunch at the restaurant before the tour. The fool was amazing! They also had a Dale Chihuly display which was fantastic!! All in all, definitely worth the time and cost!
We had an amazing experience with our tour guide Taylor, went on a brisk fall day and enjoyed walking through. My favorite part was probably the fermentation room, but everything was very interesting. They currently have a Choluly Glass exhibit which added to the beauty of the grounds. Many people go for the tasting at the end, we participated, but are not really big bourbon drinkers. We went just for a fun thing to do on a Saturday in the fall. The drive from Louisville to the distillery was also quite beautiful and took us on some back back roads. I would highly recommend a visit if you’re thinking about it, whether you’re bourbon drinker or not I think you’ll have a great time!
Simply one of the best, if not The Best, distillery tours I have ever had the opportunity to see. The grounds are amazing. The people are friendly, informative, and have personalities. The tasting was fantastic. If in the area, this, in my humble opinion, is the one you must absolutely visit. But you only live once. Visit as many as you can while in town. Bardstown.
Great tour overall, very educational but also very fun. I think everybody with even the slightest interest in liquor or bourbon would have a great time. Our guide, Laura, gave an amazing tour and really elevated the experience. She was hilarious, super knowledgeable, and made everyone feel like old friends rather than just guests. The tasting was fun and informative, helping you figure out what flavors you enjoy, and the gift shop had plenty of unique items, even if they were a bit pricey. Getting to dip our own bottle was a really fun and memorable touch and makes for a great long-lasting souvenir. Overall, it was a fantastic visit, and Laura set the bar for what every tour guide should be.
We visited in August 2025: In the heart of bourbon country, where the whispers of history dance through the trees, we found ourselves on a journey like no other at Maker's Mark. Our guide, Ethan, was nothing short of phenomenal. His deep knowledge and passion for each step of the process, from the lush landscape to the growing of mushroom, and the intricate art of distilling made every moment feel alive with history. We embarked on a private walking tour, a thoughtfully crafted experience that led us through the serene grounds, where the gentle sound of the creek accompanied our footsteps. Standing beneath the canopy of trees, we savored our first tasting, the flavors weaving stories of craftsmanship and tradition. The tour was a masterclass in attention to detail, culminating in a breathtaking stop at a scenic spot that felt like a hidden gem, perfect for our next tasting. Ethan's warmth, humor, and enthusiasm made an already memorable day even more special, and we hope he sees this review after all, I was the gal from Texas who inadvertently booked a single ticket for my husband’s birthday trip! But thanks to Ethan’d quick response, we were able to make the day perfect for my husband. As we wandered the enchanting grounds, we were captivated by the stunning Chihuly art pieces that adorned the property, each one a testament to Maker's Mark's commitment to artistry and brand identity. They understand the customer journey in a way that feels personal and inviting, ensuring that every guest feels valued. Every team member made us feel as if we had the whole place to ourselves from the moment we arrived, whether in greeting, during the tour, at the gift shop, or while enjoying a drink at the bar. The opportunity to dip our own bottle in the gift shop was a delightful touch, allowing us to take home a piece of our experience in a way that felt truly special and personal. Even during a time of shutdown, we never felt shortchanged. Instead, we experienced a slice of bourbon heritage that was both enriching and fulfilling. The stunning landscape, layered with history, invited us to linger and explore, and every interaction was infused with a warmth that deepened our appreciation for what Maker's Mark represents. And let me not forget to mention the restaurant, a must-visit! Whether you’re a local or planning a romantic date, make sure to carve out time to indulge in the culinary delights they have to offer. In the tapestry of experiences on the bourbon trail, our visit to Maker's Mark stands out as the highlight. It was more than just a tour; it was a celebration of craftsmanship, community, and the art of bourbon-making, a true masterpiece in every sense.
This location is set on a beautiful working farm. There are so many opportunities to learn and enjoy this place. There is literally something for everyone here. It is clean, beautiful, safe and loaded with so many opportunities to enjoy yourself or time with family. The Chihuly glass exhibit was awesome too. It is easy to find using Google Maps.
The tour is fantastic and the property is absolutely beautiful — we could’ve stayed much longer just soaking it all in. Our guide, Taylor, was excellent — knowledgeable, easygoing, and handled a few goofy questions from the group like a total pro. If you visit, budget some extra time to explore; it’s worth every minute. I’ve always liked Maker’s, but seeing their process and hearing their story made me appreciate it on a whole new level. Well done, Maker’s.
