More than 600 years old, this huge wisteria plant produces millions of flowers in late spring.

Place is known for it Wisteria flower during the 2 weeks in end April. There are also a number of interesting things in the town including a stream engine locomotive on display. Nearby Town Yume has also many things to explore especially local history and arts
There’s parking a few steps away, entrance is free. The wisteria wasn’t in full bloom yet when we visited, but it was still a sight to behold. The flowers smell so good.
Just the right timing,it was in full bloomed. Its a beautiful place. Good for relaxing 😌
I dropped by before going hiking.
I went here on 15th May, i don't see westeria season anymore :( what a waste😭
I want to ask when is the best time to come in 2020? Early April?
Somehow the nature here reminded me of Mongolian nature. Breathtaking!

(Translated by Google) It was a little after 3pm on a Sunday and the store was quite busy. There was a tea shop next door, and people waiting to enter seemed to wait in the souvenir corner. I bought some fresh Yame tea. The cashier was very kind and taught me how to make delicious tea♥️ I don't like green tea, so I bought a small size because I felt it was worth trying the delicious new Yame tea. It was about 540 yen. There were also other delicious looking rice crackers on the sales floor, so I bought them as well👌🏻 ̖́-︎ When I got home and tried it, the nice aroma of fresh tea filled my nostrils, it was a rare experience♥️ I'm glad I bought it even though I had to wait in line for a while, and I'd like to use the tea shop again if I'm in the area. I visited in April 7 and luckily the cherry blossoms are still full bloom.
The dam is cool to see. If you go for rock climbing be prepared to go through path that are not being used much so it’s a bit jungly. Bolt seemed to be in good shape, but we could not climb as everything was soaked.
(Translated by Google) This dam is located along National Route 442. It is possible to drive above the dam, but please be careful as the road from the tunnel at the dam entrance to the exit onto National Route 442 is quite narrow and difficult to separate from oncoming vehicles. The management office is along the national highway about 5 minutes away from the dam itself, and there is no one in charge of dam cards on weekends and holidays, so you can get a dam card by taking the application form from the box at the entrance of the management office and mailing it in. A trip around the dam lake is about 12 km and takes about 2 and a half hours. Now is your chance. I was able to enjoy the beauty of nature. You can shorten the journey by turning around at the bridge along the way. I got a little lost, but I finally saw it after going through a narrow road where it was difficult to pass other vehicles. It was a really big and impressive heart-shaped rock. When you cross the red bridge by car, there is a heart-shaped object and a bell on the way, and you can see it if you look towards the cliff. The air was clean and it felt good. However, it would be easier to find if there was a sign before crossing the bridge 🙂‍↕️ (Original) SNSでハート岩があるのを見て行って来ました。

It was quite eerie, and I had a strong sense of being watched. I got out of the car and gave up exploring. I used Google Navigation, but it guided me down a narrow path below the dam, and there were no guardrails in places, so if I fell, it would be the end of my life. If you go at night, there is a memorial, so be sure to make an offering before exploring. P.S. This photo was taken before I greeted the memorial. It looks like there's something in it. I was able to zoom in more in my photo album and see it more clearly...it looks angry, as if to say, "What's this thing?"... Before I left, I apologized to the memorial for causing a commotion. Next time, I'd like to visit during the day and offer offerings and incense. I was reminded that that place at night belongs to another world. Even as I write this, I feel a chill down my spine and it's a bit scary... Resort is located up the hill at around 1500ft. More for summer activities like outdoor and trekking. Room is small but adequate for 4pax. Onsen is large and has both indoor and outdoor. Dinner are OK. Breakfast is basic, buffet style

This museum primarily displays materials related to its burial deity, Tsukushi no Kimi Iwai, as well as unique stone figures and horses. Tsukushi no Kimi Iwai is portrayed differently in the Nihon Shoki and fragments of the Chikuzen Fudoki. Both sources are on display, and it's fascinating to compare the differences. During the reign of Emperor Keitai, Iwai united not only Tsukushi but also the powerful clans of Hi (Hi) and Toyo no Kuni to challenge the Yamato royal authority. Viewing the videos and materials in the museum conveys just how influential he was. Though he lost the battle, he is portrayed as a hero of Kyushu. Emperor Keitai's unusual origins, such that there is even a theory that he was the cause of a dynastic transition, suggesting that there was a lot of movement within the Yamato royal authority. Furthermore, on the Korean Peninsula, conflict between Goguryeo, Baekje, and Silla was intensifying at the time. Iwai may have been one of those forced to make a choice. After the defeat, Iwai's son, Kuzuno, presented the Kasuya Miyake (storehouse) as a gift. This is said to have been the catalyst for the Yamato royal authority to establish a series of storehouses in northern Kyushu, strengthening its direct control. As an aside, the Nanotsuno Miyake (official family) was later established to oversee these storehouses, and after the Battle of Baekgang, this function was taken over by Dazaifu. I suddenly wondered, "Was there enough capacity to build Iwatoyama Kofun after that battle?", but it appears that the tomb was completed before the battle. The stone men and stone horses may look like simple, familiar stone statues, but the more I read about the documents, the more I realize that their existence is a unique cultural element not seen in other regions. The fact that their spread only stopped in northern Kyushu reminded me of dolmens. Dolmens spread eastward from Europe and were hugely popular on the Korean Peninsula, but stone men and stone horses are not found on the Korean Peninsula, where a similar stone statue culture seems to exist among nomadic peoples such as the Scythians and Turks of Central Asia. Come to think of it, horses were introduced to Japan around the 5th century. Considering that stone men and horses appeared around the same time, horses may have been a shocking presence to the people of that time. I can only imagine that the people who arrived with the horses may have also brought along related technology and stone statue culture. I imagine that the people of that time wanted to convey Iwai's prestige to future generations by decorating their kofun tombs with such stone horses, and I feel like I understand their feelings.

Although it is a small local facility, the presentation and exhibits are professional, and it is surprising that admission is free. It seems that it was a market after the war, but for decades there were only snack shops, small restaurants, and drunks. It takes courage to enter the store on first glance, so ask a local to introduce you. My favorite was Kamaishi Kazuhisa, which only locals know. It closed on March 30, 2023 after 55 years of history. I'm very disappointed. Kazuhisa Kamaishi's entrance was narrow, but the building looked like an okiya, with narrow hallways that continued deeper and deeper into the building, and steep stairs leading to the second floor. I thought that if a fire broke out in the kitchen near the entrance, I would never be able to escape. However, it's so delicious that I always order kamameshi, yakitori (salt and sauce), salad with lots of mayonnaise and bananas, grilled squid, and chawan mushi in quick succession, and I end up eating so much that my stomach bursts open like a pregnant woman's belly. , I was about to give birth. Small sized strawberry farm but with more than enough fruits and a wide variety of Kyushu strawberries. Fair price and the owner was very friendly and spoke decent english. It’s a fixed price for an hour of eat all you can - we went in late December and the harvest was quite bountiful. We didn’t eat a lot and the owner kindly gave us 4 boxes of extra large strawberries to take away. Quality was as you’d expect of Kyushu amou strawberries, sweet, juicy and full of flavour.
Went there with group of 15 people end of March . Super friendly owners who can communicate some english. Very nice Amaou strawberry. The only cons is they only have portable toilet. On the way back to Fukuoka can swing by Mizuki Fortress Ruins for Cherry Blossom experience and Dazaifu Tenmangu
Small and cute strawberry farm, have to take a bus from Kurume train station and walk abit more to get here! The views and quietness around this place is beautiful, makes for a nice day trip from Fukuoka! The owners/workers were so friendly and provided us gloves, scissors and plastic box to store whatever strawberries we picked. I ate some of them while picking and it was one of the freshest/sweetest strawberries 🍓 I have ever had!! Please do visit this farm and have a small day trip around Kurume if you are staying a few days in Fukuoka!
We went to this Strawberry farm as it is on the way between Saga and Kumamoto. 1 hour adult picking of Strawberries is ¥1800. We can choose from 3 greenhouses. The owner is very friendly! A note when driving, the number is a mobile number and hence you can’t find it on your car GPS. You might need to use Google Maps instead.
Fun activity for family, sweet strawberries and we get to bring home a small box of our harvested strawberries as a souvenir! Definitely one of the highlights of our Kyushu trip
Thank you for this very well maintained strawberry farm! The strawberries are fresh and sweet. The farm is very nice and clean. The owner is friendly and helpful. Our family enjoyed the time here very much.
2500 yen for one adult. Good place to bring kids to experience.

The name Yame is apparently derived from Yame-tsuhime. The large torii gate and large tree facing the road, along with the stairs leading up from there, immediately create a sense of atmosphere. From the parking lot, you'll enter the shrine grounds directly, so I recommend descending the road and passing through the torii gate if possible. Once you reach the top of the stairs and pass through the torii gate, a semi-cave-like landscape to the right of the shrine building will catch your eye. I think this view is the highlight. I recommend experiencing the atmosphere, including the shrine building where the statue of Yamehime welcomes you. It seems like it would be nice to visit during the autumn foliage season. There are two parking lots further ahead from the shrine, each with space for over 10 cars. There are also restrooms, so I imagine it's a popular destination.

She is quietly nestled deep in the mountains of Yabe Village, and above all, it is also the birthplace of the actress Kuroki Hitomi... Her appearance and appearance exude beauty from within. The shrine is unmanned, but you can take your time to worship.
