If you are looking for a wonderful experience, please look no more! From the very first phone call I was treated like family and the experience from the beginning was smooth and easy. My family and I had the best time and we certainly will be booking again very soon!
Work quality for fiberglass work is definitely middle of the road. But they bill even before work is complete and they charge 5% late fee every 7 days. This amounts to over 200% interest. I have never dealt with any business that charges egregious late fees like this.
Poor Communication, Overcharging & Shrink Wrapping Over Snow (Teak Deck Owners Beware!) I had a very frustrating experience with Chesapeake Nautical Cruises regarding their shrink wrap service. The lack of communication, overcharges, and poor decision-making led to unnecessary exposure and potential damage to my boat. 1) Shrink-Wrapped Over 5 Inches of Snow - When I questioned this, I was told, "Steve knows what he's doing—he's done this many times." - However, teak deck owners know that trapped moisture is terrible for teak. - When I later spoke to Steve, he dismissed my concerns, saying the snow would "melt and run down the sides." That may be fine for fiberglass boats, but for teak, trapped moisture leads to mold, warping, and long-term damage. Image 1: Snow-covered deck shrink wrapping—proving moisture was trapped 2) Shrink Wrap Was Delayed Over a Month - The shrink wrap was delayed over a month, leaving my boat exposed to two major snowstorms (January 5-6 and January 19-20). - Had I known it would take this long—or that they would shrink-wrap over snow—I would not have proceeded. - Shrink wrap is supposed to protect a boat from the weather, not trap moisture inside. Image 2: Teak deck with shrink wrap, 10 days after wrap, showing moisture damage. Image 3: Close-up of mold or mildew-like growth on teak deck caused by trapped moisture under shrink wrap. 3) Overcharged for the Length of the Boat - Billed for 61 feet when the boat is 55 feet! - They included solar panels that were NOT shrink-wrapped in their measurement. - Their "discount" was not a goodwill gesture—they simply corrected their own overcharge for 5 feet but still kept a 1-foot buffer. - Other providers (like Payless Marine) only charge for the actual wrapped area. 4) Unauthorized Shrink Wrap Removal & Excessive Fees - We asked if/when they could remove the wrap because we needed to launch by Friday. - However, they removed the shrink wrap without confirming the cost. - Given the above, I explicitly requested a quote before removal, yet they went ahead and billed me without approval. - Then they stated that if not paid within 7 days, a 5% late fee would accrue. - When we attempted to pay through their link, there was an unexpected $25 processing fee. !!! ILLEGAL LATE FEE !!! Maryland law requires a minimum 15-day grace period before a late fee can be imposed. A 5% late fee after just 7 days does not align with Maryland’s statutory requirements. Final Thoughts: When I raised these concerns, I was dismissed and given only a minor 5-foot "discount" instead of a fair resolution. Their poor communication, overcharges, and unwillingness to acknowledge mistakes were incredibly disappointing. Instead of addressing valid concerns, they treated my requests as an inconvenience rather than a legitimate customer issue.
Excellent company- provides very well rounded yacht services additionally offers captain services with the amazing Capt. Steve and if you're in the market for a boat, they'll help seek out what you're looking for! CNC has a wonderful crew.
