The mesmerizing effect of hills and valleys shrouded in thick fog is a spectacle unique to Paithalmala in the monsoon, offering a magical, almost dreamlike quality to treks and photography. Wandering through misty vistas with cool drizzles amplifies the adventure, making even short walks captivating, but often obscures long-range views and sunrises or sunsets. Nature photographers and contemplative walkers will love these atmospheric conditions. Be ready for sudden rains, muddy trails, and reduced visibility—these add thrill but require extra caution
Approx 1 hour of trekking is needed to reach the top .The view is breath taking There are 3 and more view point on the top of the hill Watch tower,View point, A small lake . Plastic is restricted they would take the no of plastic you carry in your bag & when i vist there was only online payment was allowed Its better to carry any type pf identification card.
Really beautiful place Small hike from ticket counter to reach hill top I went via KSRTC bus, which isn't a great idea since you need to walk atleast 3km to reach the ticket counter But the trek after that is beautiful and inside the forest.
Paithalmala, also known as Vaithalmala, is a captivating hill station located in the Kannur district of Kerala, India. Perched at an elevation of approximately 1,372 meters (4,500 feet) above sea level, it stands as the highest peak in Kannur and is a favored destination for trekkers and nature enthusiasts.
My kids and I were the only ones who went. It felt like a different world. Trek is easy. It took us about 3 hours in total. It did rain and the weather up there is crazy as it was monsoon.... Plasics aee not allowed, so pack your snacks in a steel box and carry.... Beware of leeches. Timing is 9.30 am to 3.30. there are wildlife roaming including elephants. At the base at the ticket counter on the top and half way, all three places there were forest gaurds for monitoring..... We had lunch at paithal paradise and food was aweeeeesome, best ghee rice I ever had.... They also had fish, chicken and beef and also biriyani. Other snacks like cutlet and all.... Best place to visit for a different experience all together.... The guard there said one can expect rains till end of November in this region , so go prepared.
One of the best trekking spot you have to experience . You have to be there on time otherwise you will miss it. (9:00 am to 3:pm) Its better if you reach there before 1 pm. So you can experience the whole thing.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Paithalmala – A Perfect Nature Escape! Paithalmala is one of the best hilltop trekking destinations in Kannur! The views from the top are simply amazing — lush green mountains, cool winds, and a great spot for sunrise and sunset lovers. 🌄✨ The trek path is moderate and enjoyable for beginners too. There’s a watchtower at the peak where you can take stunning photos. 📸 The weather is usually misty and refreshing, especially during monsoon and winter seasons. ✅ Peaceful environment ✅ Great photo spots ✅ Good for trekking & nature lovers ✅ Perfect weekend getaway ⚠️ Small tip: Carry enough water and wear proper trekking shoes. Avoid going late evening as it gets foggy and slippery. Highly recommended place to visit in Kannur! ❤️🌿
One of the great place in Kannur. I have visited it many times. The fog make paithalmala really beautiful. Beware of leach bite.

Ezharakund Waterfalls is an amazing place to visit if you're looking to relax and connect with nature. The water is crystal clear and cool, perfect for a refreshing dip, and the whole area is surrounded by lush greenery. The falls themselves are absolutely beautiful, and the sound of the water adds to the peaceful vibe. Just a heads up, the river can be a bit strong, so it's not ideal for kids, but it's great for adults who want to enjoy the calm and beauty of the place. The snack options are limited, so I recommend bringing your own food, but overall, Ezharakund Waterfalls is definitely worth the visit!
Throughly enjoyed hours at the water falls and trekking. The biggest and topmost fall is great and deep. Swam of quite long time and one can dive also safely. Rocks are very slippery. Jacket is must. Jeep is there from base to top and can enjoy walk down enjoying the different falls and scenic beauty on the way. There are different falls for families, families with kids, etc., good staff and security. Well managed
Azharkund Waterfalls – A Hidden Gem Managed by Kerala Government! This is an absolutely amazing place to visit if you’re in Kannur — also known as the Seven Falls. The Kerala government has managed this spot so efficiently, it honestly feels like a privately run destination — yet everything is priced so reasonably! Imagine paying just ₹300 for a seven-seater jeep ride all the way up to the first level of the waterfalls. They don’t rip you off anywhere — whether it’s snacks, T-shirts, or shorts, everything is priced very fairly. The location itself is breathtaking — lush greenery, tall mountains, and refreshing waterfalls all in one place. The best part? You’re allowed to swim in the top fall with a safety jacket on — feeling the water rush down from above while you swim below is an unforgettable experience you’ll never get in a normal pool. A beautiful place, a great ride, and truly a day to remember! 🌿💦
Went to Ezharakkund Waterfalls on a rainy Saturday with a group of friends—such a solid experience. The area has seven different waterfall spots where you can usually swim, dive, and chill in the water. But depending on the rain and water level, they limit access for safety. When we went, only the lowest spot was open, which was around 10 feet deep. There’s another shallow area a bit above that, meant for families and ladies. Even though we couldn’t explore all seven spots, we had a great time at the bottom pool. The water was super refreshing, and the whole vibe was calm and natural. After that, there’s a hike of about 700 meters to reach the top part of the falls. On the way up, we stopped at a small chai shop—the people there were super friendly. Even the forest staff were really funny and welcoming, which added to the whole vibe of the place. Now, the best and most unexpected part: there’s an off-road jeep service provided at the location. We met a group who had already taken a jeep to the top from the jeep taxi stand at the bottom, and they asked if we wanted to join them for the ride back down. Since we were six and they were three, we all jumped in together. That downhill ride was bumpy, fun, and honestly such a unique way to wrap up the trip. So yeah—Ezharakkund is definitely worth visiting. Just check the weather ahead of time, go with the flow depending on water levels, and if you get the chance, try the jeep ride. It’s not a luxury thing, but it’s an experience for sure.
Visited the place last week..being the monsoon season, the Falls seems to be in full glory. Lush Green surroundings, friendly and helpful staff..altogether a nice experience. Access roads are good and parking is available.
Best weekend getaway spot in Kannur for family. You can go up either by a small trekking (around 1 hour) or by availing off road jeep facility which will cost extra. Trekking pathway is beginner friendly with safety measures.
Visit one of the iconic waterfall in kannur district. Authorities charged rupees 100 per head for visit and bath in waterfalls. Its worthy waterfall for bath with safety measure like life jacket and guards. It's pool like waterfall having depth of 5 meters. Only swimmers can enjoy fully. Non swimmers can enjoy with rope. Now waterfall having Decent water flow. Bath suitable for only adults.
Perfect place for chilling out in a superb pool among the lush green nature. The area was well maintained and clean. We need to take a 15 minutes walk to reach at the top most water fall.
