Hiked up Mont Ernest-Laforce (820 M) spectacular 360° views of Mont Albert, Mont Hog's Back, etc. Terrain is rugged in a fun way, you don't need to be an athlete to get to the top, but you feel like one when you get there. Also did the easy hike to Lac-aux-Américains (cirque/glacial basin). Wonderful scenery, beautiful part of the planet.
The park itself is beautiful. Lots of great scenery. However we were overall disappointed with our stay here. After about 3hrs of being at the park a park ranger approached our site, refused to speak English. Luckily my wife could understand enough french to gather that he had showed up because someone complained about our dogs barking, which they weren't barking much. A couple of dogs at other campsites were barking much more than ours but somehow we got the complaints. After that we were on edge the entire stay as he told us if we get another complaint we would be kicked out. A few campsites down from us someone was playing music at night. Which is against the rules and most people in the park were unfriendly. The only washroom in the campground has only two toilets. We did our best to try and enjoy our time there but it was not a place I would return. This park is not dog friendly even though they say they allow dogs.
It is a gloomy park with unreliable weather and trail conditions. There is often fog, light rain and high humidity. In July and August, it can be very hot (even dangerously hot), especially high up on bare mountain tops but still, it can be extremely muddy and buggy at the same time. Suddenly, it can cool down and become uncomfortable in the evenings and very cool at night. There is a good chance to see wildlife, enjoy breathtaking lookout views and experience challenges of uphill hiking on a rocky terrain. There is a section of the International Appalachian Trail winding through the park West to East. But beware of the western part... It is very isolated, muddy and buggy in summer and doesn't offer any great views just the challenge of hiking in the mud.... I would not recommend going anywhere west of Cascapedia: don't waste your time and energy. Staying on a campsite and enjoying day hikes while exploring different sections of the park is probably the best option and the safest.
REVIEW FOR DOG OWNERS: TL;DR: This park is not dog friendly at all I do not recommend you visit this park if you want to bring dogs. Online there are resources indicating that some trails are dog friendly. However, those trails are 1% of what the park has to offer. Unless you're happy with going to this park and having a 40 min hike then leaving, you shouldnt bother stoping here. I'd recommend much more that you visit Forillon park which has no limitations on dogs. It is a shame that the park doesn't do a good enough job explaining how little you can explore with your dogs. I felt a bit misdirected by their online map which shows long green trails, these are actually just paths you are allowed to have your dog in the car with you, not real trails. The only real trail is a 40 min small ( and beautiful) hike. The park is extremely strict. It is filled with multiple large "No dog allowed" signed at every corner. Making it very clear that dogs are not welcomed. P.S. Don't even try sneaking them in because there are fines and potential park expulsion for bringing your dogs to an unauthorized zone.
This park is natural beauty at its very best, you see an untamed nature showing its most beautiful side with dollops of fresh air and clean water in unbridled rivers! Located at a distance of 30 minutes from Saint Ann Des Monts, you first arrive at the discovery centre where you buy tickets for access to the national park, as is a constant fixture there is ample parking and clean rest room facilities at the centre. There is a small cafe and a gift shop as well, if you plan to hike it is a good idea to buy some trail mix or water in case you havent brought it with you. Once you have bought the tickets (day tickets or season pass) you have a multitude of options in front of you from a hiking standpoint: 1. Different difficult levels - Easy, Intermediate, Difficult, Extreme 2. Different options based on distance and time Once you select a hiking trail you can easily follow the signs and enjoy the walkathon! Experienced hikers should definitely go for difficult and extreme, while newbies (and old people or parent(s) with smalls kids) should go for the easy option. As is with any hike please ensure you have the right foot wear, sun glasses, plenty of water, walking sticks etc. The picturesque walks have been curated with a lot of thought and you will find the most scenic pathways anywhere in the world here. Take care to not disturb the flora and fauna and enjoy it as if visiting a museum or an art exhibition. We opted for a hike that was graded as easy though gradually liked it so much that went in for the Difficult one, and boy was it difficult, the climb was steep and had rocks and pebbles all over. But the final view was worth it. Once you are in the jungle there are no restroom facilities and signal is low, do not stray from the path crafted and take care to have bug spray as well as sun glasses for your eyes. I would love to visit back and complete all the trails in the future, this was one of the most amazing experiences of my life, thanks to Sepaq for crafting and maintaining this wonderful gift of nature.
One of the best parks I have visited on the east side of Canada. Truly a marvel of beauty. The hike is on the more difficult side, but absolutely worth it to get to the summit and take in the view of the mountains. Depending on the time of year, you may experience different microclimates during ascent, which is a very cool experience!
Extraordinarily beautiful place. Lots of mountain trails and lakes to explore. One of our favourite parts of the trip was walking the Tour du Mont Albert, an 8-hour trail. A difficult uphill climb led to beautiful mountain views and a plateau, followed by a steep rocky descent and a long bumpy trail between Mont Albert and the surrounding mountains. The terrain was difficult for nearly the entire walk, so I wouldn’t recommend it for young children or seniors. For my husband, my 15 year old daughter, and me, it was a fun challenge and an amazing experience. It was definitely one of the highlights of our 10 days trip in the Gaspé region. Definitely a place to go for anyone love hiking or nature in general.
Beautiful, massive park--so many options and trails for those of all abilities. The roads to get to the main building are very well maintained and although windy, smooth. We did a few hikes, but the only downside is that very few trails allow dogs, so our options were limited :( My boyfriend enjoyed some fishing along the rivers, but you must get a SEPAQ permit first!

Nice place to visit to get information on the St-Lawrence under water creatures. They also had an informative session where you are also able to hold some of the species. Great little spot that will take you about two hours to visit and then a cute little boutique on the way out.
Stopped in as a last minute decision and we were so glad we didn’t miss it. The tactile experience was so much fun and you get to hold a crab, pet a sea urchin, and caress a sea cucumber. We even saw an over zealous shrimp going around in circles (see video). Great gift shop.
I visited the museum only (20$ ish), I am aware that they have other activities like cruises. In the museum, the top floor presents the various creatures living in the Saint-Lawrence: birds, fishes, molluscs... The bottom floor presents some of them in aquariums. There is also an animation that lets you handle some smaller shellfish. For me, seeing the cod was what concluded my tour around the Gaspé Peninsula. Low season in early september. No wait, no need to reserve.
Unless your city doesn’t have an aquarium, I honestly wouldn’t recommend coming here — it’s just not worth it. I’m from Québec City, and our aquarium costs $25 and offers so much more in terms of size, variety, and overall experience. Exploramer only has two levels: the basement has a small selection of marine animals, and the second floor just features some exhibition pieces — and that’s it. I was really disappointed, especially after driving all the way here expecting something more. That said, I want to give credit where it’s due. One highlight was the passionate staff. I saw a man with a bun enthusiastically explaining fish and letting people touch some marine animals. His energy and dedication stood out, and I’m giving an extra star just for him. Without that, it would have been a 1-star visit.
We did the morning fishing trip, our guide and captain were amazing! No luck catching fish but had a great time nonetheless. The boat was equipment with an interactive screen with lots of educational material. Dis the museum visit after and loved the "bassin tactile" where you could learn about different marine creatures and touch them"
We took the Discover the St. Lawrence boat tour. While we’re sure this was a very good informative experience for the dozen or so French-speaking people who are everyone but the two of us, none of the narration about the lobsters and crabs which were hauled in for a demo was in English!!! This was after we let the tour guide in advance we were English speaking tourists to the region. It was a very disappointing experience and not worth the $60+ paid for the tour. The exhibits and educational displays in the centre were bilingual and were offered good information about the river and the gulf.
I highly recommend this aquarium - it is a spectacular crash course in the aquatic biosphere of the St Lawrence. The exhibits and tanks are recent and well maintained and all placards are available in French and English. The Exploramer project team of the temporary exhibit should be especially proud. My partner and I were in awe of the immersive experience and detail considered. I learned a lot at this aquarium and yes, while smaller than some others in larger cities, the focused and dedicated facilities on the St. Lawrence biospheres are worthy of visiting. The facility remains well updated with current findings and events. I think I've even been convinced to exclusively buy eco cleaning and showering products! We enjoyed a nice coffee at the cafe afterwards and found really interesting food products in the gift shop. Bravo team - lovely facility and I hope to visit again sometime in the future!
Very professional staff. Tour of the St-Laurent was amazing. The museum is nice for kids, its a plus but you really need to take the boat for it to be a full experience.

If you’re into rocks, this place is not to be missed! You’ll be leaving with a sack full of unique souvenirs. It’s fairly easy to get to: from either the north or south, Route 299 is a paved highway. Once you make the turn east toward the mine, the gravel road can be bumpy but passable - just slow down! It’s only a couple of kilometers. The driveway to the mine itself is a more rutted, but it, too, is passable - just take it slowly and carefully. The parking lot is level and spacious. A friendly greeting at the office - I’m not going to lie, you’ll get more out of the initial instructions if you understand French - and they set you up very efficiently: a 5-gallon bucket strapped to a hand truck, and rock hammers for everyone in your party. And off you go! From the reception, it’s a short, shady walk to the first digging site. You’ll pass the stone-cutter along the way. I had two dogs in tow, so I didn’t wander too far from the easy-access front of the first dig site. But the site is several terraced acres, so an adventurous soul could explore further. There is also a second dig site, but I didn’t go to it. Once you have a satisfactory amount of stones, you return to the stone-cutting shed. FYI, you pay for every cut stone that you want - this is where this outing can become an expensive proposition! So keep that in mind as you are collecting your rough rocks at the dig site. Also, the stone cutter speaks only French. You lay out your stones, and the stone cutter chooses 3-4 stones that he thinks will yield the best results. If you are happy with those results, he will write up a receipt and send you on your way. If you want additional stones cut, you will need to negotiate with him. Then you wheel back to the entrance. There are toilets and clean-up sinks there. I would definitely come here whenever I happened to be in the area. I was able to navigate the process easily with my two leashed dogs, and there were lots of families with little kids, as well. The folks in charge were very welcoming, and the mine itself offered a rockhounding experience that I thought I would need to travel out west for.
Fun family activity, especially for kids. About 15 min drive from the national park. Dirt road to get there. No shade on the mine, so use sunscreen and bring water. Not cheap at 75$ for a family of four. Then you need to pay for each rock you want to cut depending on size (about 8$ to 30$ per rock). That part is not clear from the website. It's still an interesting activity that is out of the ordinary. Would be nice to have some scientific information as part of the activity...
Okay, if you start your journey going up the road thinking “you should have bought a squirrel”, then believe it or not, you’re on the right trail. Cash only establishment so after paying $40 per person if you want your own bucket. but if you share the bucket, each additional person is $20. I recommend to have an extra $40 per person for the rock cutting fee. The next part is very important: I spent about an hour waiting in line looking at the other rocks people were cutting and I learned the following… #1) do not waste your time looking for midsize rocks (ie the size of your hands to both hands cupped together). Look for a rock that is the size of your head. So keep chipping away at the dirt until you find one. #2). You’ll be tempted to keep medium sized ones. Focus on getting one big one instead of a rock pile of maybes. The guides will end up tossing them out and may not even bother cutting them #3). It will take approximately 15 minutes of digging in one spot to find a big one so do not give up. #4) one rock can satisfy two people. So the more you share the cheaper it gets #5) I had better luck in the upper quarry. Warning: staff is very kind but be wary of the answer to your query.
If you don’t come home with an agate or thunder egg, you probably weren’t here. This place is an old volcano and according to the owners will generate agates etc. For at least 800 more years. You get a bucket and a,pick hammer and all the time you need. They advice on which to cut and if it is a dud it is free (cuts are between 5 and 30 dollar dependent on size). We found lots of great stuff and look forward to do more cutting at home. Overall the price is worth it if you are a rock hound or just want to do something different. By the way, the big block on the left on the selection/sizing table is not from the mine but was found in Blomidon, Nova Scotia and brought here to be sawed.
Spend a couple of hours and collect your own souvenir- guaranteed to leave with a treasure. Great folks - really cool
Such a fun experience! My daughter loves collecting rocks, so digging for geodes was a must do while in Gaspesie. I made a mistake with my reservation time, but called to let them know we where going to arrive late. The lady on the phone was super accommodating. When we arrived, we were given instructions on what to look for and what to leave behind. we left with a trunk full of geodes and rocks. Bring a hat, it's hot!
It is quite a unique experience. The owner is very friendly even when we choose to communicate in English. I'd hope there can be more explanation on the geology and formation of the gemstone other than just how to find them. I find having them cutting the stone might be a bit expensive and might not get you the best result. I'd rather brake the stone open at home with a hammer and get a Dremel Rotatory tool to cut and polish gems yourselves. Or more easier just get a rock tumbler.
We arrived there at closing time. Since there’s no network on the way there we didn’t know what time it was closing because we decided on a whim to go when we saw the sign. We were greeted by a man who clearly was fed up of his day waving his arms like “go away” telling us with an angry face that we were “arriving at closing time” rolling his eyes at us like we knew when it was closing (again, no network in the area). It was 3:30pm on a Monday.

First of all, Alain's kindness is a huge plus, and you can trust the numerous reviews that support this. Secondly, the breathtaking scenery and views add to this already unique experience. Unfortunately, the great fires in Western Canada make these landscapes a little more blurred, but it's still gigantic and magnificent. I can hardly imagine what it looks like when the light is at its peak. Finally, everything was done safely, with pleasure, and good humor. I definitely recommend the experience to everyone. A beautiful three-hour tour through the wide open spaces of the Gaspé Peninsula. Thank you, Alain. Merci Alain.

Hands down some of the most delicious, smooth, perfect chocolate I have ever tasted in my life. Wish they sold it in Ontario, however, I’d be broke!
The chocolate is exquisite, although expensive. We were offered a sample of a black chocolate with raspberry center, which was delicious. We brought a couple of their chocolates back. We recently had the black chocolate with ganache bar and it was so good!
Hidden away on a side street in this seaside town is a chocolate-lover’s paradise. The subtle aroma of fine chocolate as you walk in is just the beginning. Wide variety of treats, helpful & friendly service, and the best chocolate I have tasted anywhere. Prices are more than reasonable for the quality. I dare you to walk out empty-handed!
Ordered a mango/vanilla ice cream cone dipped in yuzu (japanese lemon) - it was exceptionally delicious! Highly recommend 💖
I went there a few times for the ice-cream. My favorite was strawberry with white chocolate. Super tasty! I bought there milk chocolate bar (excellent, not oversweet, delicate cocoa taste), a white chocolate bar (a tad too sweet to my liking), and the chocolate starfish. The starfish I brought home and haven't open yet;) The price is OK for the quality. Definitely recommend this place.
Can't tell about the service as I bought their product at a partner store. But... Those are the best chocolates I have ever tasted. The flavour is interesting, but not too weird (like de grandbois). The texture is just perfect. The shells are just the right thickness, showing great workmanship. They're sweet but not too much. Lastly, for such artisan products, with great ingredients, they manage to have an absolutely amazing shelf life. I don't have a clue how they manage their aw index, but again great technique. Will definitely buy again. Was impressed.
Best ice cream of my life — very high quality flavours
Might be one of the greatest ice cream and chocolate bites you’ll ever have. Beware !

Super cute and artistic products; wish we have bought more. It is a great stop to shop for souvenirs and support local talented and hardworking artists!
A total GEM of a place. Nathalie was lovely and showed us her workshop. She has also added a new style that uses lovely greens/whites, reminiscent of the sea. So along w/her fun & whimsical style, she now offers more. This is a MUST on any road trip through St. Anne des Monts. And the prices are very reasonable! I am so glad we found this charming pottery studio!
Loved this lovely shop. The owner gives tours of her work area and there is a beautiful gift shop. We looked for the pottery shop and am glad we did.
We loaded up on Natalie's delightful ceramics both for ourselves and for giving. Warm helpful hospitality! We will go back.

(Translated by Google) We were 75 minutes from the golf course starting from Ste-Madeleine center. But the road is so beautiful that it was worth it. A beautiful 18-hole golf course, not very long, 5700 yards for the white tees and a little over 6000 yards for the blues and 4700 yards for the reds. I found the fairway grass a little long and the greens very slow. The course is pleasant and offers views of the Chic-Choc mountains. Some holes in the mountains. Can be walked relatively easily. For $50 with the electric cart, taxes included, a really fair price for this golf course. All the staff are really courteous and attentive! Having played several golf courses in Quebec, the United States and Spain, I can recommend it to you as it offers excellent value for money.

Good evening.
It's a small place and definitely not recommended if you want to enjoy beer. The selection is limited to 4-5 beers in bottles. There is no tap. Not a place to go to drink! The service was good, friendly ppl but it's more like a roadside dive bar.
(Translated by Google) Could never... as soon as 5 foot King Kong came home. They closed the two pool tables. Not true just the other one finally... on two tables. Part security measure whatever. We had fun with friends. King Kong calm down you see Ben what does a public place know. The owner should clean up these customers who are just looking for problems. I would definitely go back to the 2000s! For people who knew in those years. Very happy to have evolved over the years, this is not something that everyone can afford. Moral of this story continue your journey you lose nothing...
(Translated by Google) Before leaving Gaspésie, I decided to visit an emblematic place of my life as a young adult. Quite disappointed with this evening… You play songs on the jukebox (the only thing moderately interesting after billiards), and your song is skipped even though it had barely started, I said skipped, it was playing and the staff skipped it… Their reason?; “So-and-so asked me to skip.” Really not correct, especially since we pay for this service…
