This park used to be a busy location and we were never able to camp her as it would be full by the time we pass it. But this August long weekend (2022) we got lucky and was able to camp here and it was basically empty, maybe due to the heat wave. We swam in the river to cool off and watched the trains go by. I love trains so that does not bother me. Sadly it has been closed on Aug 17, due to Infrastructure on slope stability. Hope it opens one day.
CAMPGROUND IS CLOSED due to flooding from the area above the park. Not land owned by “Government of BC or Canada”. So no, not due to Gov’t incompetence as quoted by another reviewer, remediation would have to come from the land owned by the band. Edit: Someone just posted pictures Nov 2023 of them camping, this is NOT available at this time.
Perfect spot for a great view of the Thompson River along Highway 1. The camp sites were closed but we were able to park and walk down to the river. Definitely recommend to anyone driving past to make the stop. You won’t be disappointed
Such beautiful scenery, I always stop here with the kids when we drive through. a great little place to have a picnic
Beautiful view, but do not stay here overnight unless you have no choice or a very soundproof camping setup. Can’t believe there are so many reviews saying it’s a nice place to stay the night - they must not be tent campers. I was aware that there are trains on both sides of the river and didn’t mind as I live near train tracks myself, but they were extremely loud and the frequency was nothing short of absurd. Between 7:30-10pm when we were having a campfire, the trains came every 10min and were very long, often rolling by for 5min+ at a time. No exaggeration, the moments of peace were only a couple of minutes long. We brought earplugs and they did nothing to help the noise, so we were woken up throughout the night. It quickly became nightmarish and we hardly got any rest. Such a shame because it’s a gorgeous location otherwise.
Still closed to camping, hence the 1 star. But it is a 5 star place to visit. Gorgeous area.
Never stayed here although stopped many times to view. Spectacular place to camp along side the fraser River. Just wow
Beautiful spot to camp. Only thing to note is that Goldpan currently (June 29th) doesn’t offer potable water due to elevated lead levels. Bring enough water for drinking, cooking, etc., before arriving.
