Armin was a perfect host. I enjoyed how the manager stopped by to ensure we were doing well and speaking with us. The food was absolutely great! The atmosphere was very nice. I definitely recommend.
An unforgettable dining experience at Jetty 1905! We had dinner last night at Jetty 1905 in Swakopmund and were absolutely blown away. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. Our waiter Marshall was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm—he made us feel right at home. Levi, the manager, ensured everything ran smoothly and even helped us arrange a taxi at the end of the evening, walking us all the way to the car door. That level of care and hospitality is rare and deeply appreciated. The food was fantastic—every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor. The wine recommendation was spot-on. The atmosphere was elegant yet relaxed, with stunning views that added to the evening. Jetty 1905 is a true gem in Swakopmund. We’ll definitely be back - must go if in the area.
I had such a beautiful experience here — truly a 5 out of 5 for me! The service, food, and atmosphere were absolutely stellar. I was honestly in awe of how beautiful the place is; it’s one of those spots that immediately puts you in a good mood. The staff were so kind and accommodating — we didn’t have a reservation but got lucky, and they seated us right away with the warmest smiles. Still, I’d recommend making a booking, just in case. Everything about this place impressed me — from the ambiance to the attention to detail in the food and the warmth of the service. Highly recommend it for anyone looking to enjoy a beautiful dining experience.
A unique restaurant to experience at the end of a pier in Swakopmund, Namibia. At your table, you are surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and, if timed right, a beautiful sunset. The staff were welcoming and the service was professional throughout our experience. We enjoyed a deliciously prepared seafood platter and sole with buttery green beans. I recommend this spot for your next visit. Just note bookings are recommended.
After a long drive from Gobabis to Swakopmund, the weather was rainy and cozy. (Not conducive for setting up camp) We walked to the Jetty 1905 restaurant which is a classy restaurant, off shore and on the Jetty. My wife and I had the most amazing meal being served by a professional and friendly waiter Levi. A fantastic way to wind down after a scenic drive through Namibia. Definitely recommend!
The food is definitely worth the many recommendations but you have to make a reservation. For atmosphere I can say that it's a little cold in there so definitely pack a light jacket. When it's fully booked it's kind of loud and you only have 1h 45mins time to spend there. Service was good.
Make a booking in advance Good food. Big portions. Friendly staff. Perfect place for a date night
The value proposition in the actual meal were not there. If I want to spend N$400 on a portion of fish I do expect it to be the finest.Firstly the Kabeljou were not available so I settled for Kingklip.the dish were really average with prawns a bit dry .Jetty 1905 you need to up your game.the waitron seemed rushed and inattentive disinterest. I were also asked to pay the gratuity in cash by the cashier, waitron not to be seen anywhere.so go here for sundowners and or oysters and you'd be fine. But dont think that paying more means you getting a better product. Atmosphere is great very relaxing though the music only came on as we finished our meal.as if to say ok its home time now.🤣

We were out on the dunes for ages and it was an amazing time! They organised a pick up from the wharf as well. No stress, just fun! If you're ever at Walvis Bay, highly recommend coming here.
I joined a quad bike tour in the desert! Even though I can’t really speak English, the guides taught me how to operate the bike using gestures and simple words—it worked perfectly 👍 We rode up and down the massive sand dunes, gazed out over the Atlantic Ocean, and even tackled some steep slopes. It was incredibly fun, and I highly recommend it! That said, during the tour I got a little too excited, ended up crashing, and was taken to the hospital with a bit of memory loss (lol). The staff were so kind and supportive, especially when I was barely able to respond properly. Accidents are never a good thing, but this one gave me the chance to experience genuine human kindness—a truly valuable memory. Someday, when I return to Swakopmund, I’d love to try this tour again!
We were just two of us with Simeon. We had a very generouse and extended tour stretching over many kilometers of dunes and planes. Good guide and very stunning scenary. We really enoyed ourselfs. There were pracically no people and we had the 10.30am booking. It is good to be there about 15min earlier so you can start in time.
We did a 3h quad and sandboard tour and it was excellent! The views and the ride was well worth it, especially once you move deeper into the desert. Sandboard is exciting downhill, but going back up is challenging, even more so if there is strong wind. Weather was a bit windy for us so pants and a jacket were a must, as well as some sunscreen and sunglasses. Would recommend a buff also if you go sandboarding.
AMAZING experience at Desert Explorers Adventure Centre. If you are looking to explore the desert, this is for you. Do Note: August 2025 is a very cold month in Swakopmund. Look into their seasons and average temperatures by month so that you get the experience you are looking for. In the cold months such as August, it is best to wear a jacket (even in the desert). I did the 2 hour combo (890 Namibia Dollars each per person) which includes quad biking and sandboarding. Quad biking is fun and amazing. You follow your guide through the desert up and around hills. The guide makes sure to show you how to use the bike even if you haven’t used it before. There are steep hills so sometimes you may get stuck and the guide will show you how to properly ascend. Sandboarding is lying down flat on the board, not standing up. During the combo, the guide takes you to a very steep hill in which to sandboard down. The guide oils one side of the board and pushes you down. Beware: it is quite the endurance effort to walk back up the hill, you may be winded and out of breath. Overall, this was a good value and highly recommended
Desert Explorers Adventure Centre, located in Swakopmund at the edge of the Namib Desert, offers an exciting mix of adrenaline-pumping and serene experiences. Nestled between sweeping dunes and the Atlantic, this center is best known for its thrilling quad-biking tours—guests can choose rides from 30 minutes up to two hours, winding through golden dunes and rocky terrain with expert guides ensuring both safety and scenic insights . For those seeking non-motorized experiences, sandboarding (both stand-up and lie-down), tranquil camel treks, and guided nature walks introduce you to the desert’s unique plant life and “Little Five” creatures . With a strong commitment to environmental stewardship, every activity is conducted responsibly, combining thrilling adventure with ecological awareness . The centre also hosts creative combo packages—like pairing dune rides with desert breakfasts or sundowners—making it easy to customize your visit . It is open daily (typically 8 am–6 pm) and includes convenient add-ons such as gear rental, refreshments, and even camel rides and skydiving options . Positioned about 1–2 km from Swakopmund town center, it’s easily accessible by car, taxi, bike, or on foot . Desert Explorers Adventure Centre is a dynamic destination where the shimmer of the sea meets the endless dunes, offering both sky-high thrills and quiet desert moments. Whether it's quad biking adrenaline or peaceful camel strolls, it delivers unforgettable memories in Namibia's stunning coastal desert.
Everyone I met here was lovely, from those working at the front desk to our guide for our 1.5 hour excursion. I loved the surprise chance to do sand boarding, something I would have otherwise talked myself out of, partway through the drive.
We did the hour bike trip with our teenagers and loved it. Our guide (Willy) was very friendly and and the route he chose was great fun. His video taking skills while driving was also impressive. Definitely worth booking this. Especially if you have a bit older kids.

Very great experience! Only recently went there for the first time. The people in charge and staff are super nice. The museum itself is very well kept and I found the bits of information about all the attractions very fascinating. It's also diverse in culture and you get to see a general idea for some bits of history in Namibia
Apart from the very friendly and helpful staff - The Swakopmund Museum is an absolute gem that offers a fascinating journey through the rich history and diverse natural and cultural heritage of this captivating coastal town and its surrounding region. From the moment you step inside, you're transported through time, encountering meticulously curated exhibits that tell compelling stories. What I truly appreciated was the breadth of information covered. The museum beautifully weaves together the geological origins of the area, the fascinating flora and fauna of the Namib Desert and the Atlantic coast, and the intricate history of the indigenous people and the colonial era. The displays on early settlement, maritime history, and the development of Swakopmund as a town are particularly well-done, offering insightful glimpses into the past. The exhibits are thoughtfully presented, with a wonderful mix of artifacts, photographs, and informative descriptions that bring the history to life. I was particularly impressed by the well-preserved historical items and the engaging narrative that accompanied each display. You can truly feel the connection to the people and events that shaped this unique corner of Namibia. Beyond the historical aspects, the museum also does an excellent job of showcasing the natural wonders of the region. The sections on local wildlife and the unique desert ecosystem are incredibly informative and highlight the importance of conservation. It's a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the incredible biodiversity of Namibia. The staff at the Swakopmund Museum are also to be commended. They are knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about the museum's collections. They were happy to answer questions and provide additional context, enhancing the overall experience. Whether you're a history buff, a nature enthusiast, or simply curious about Swakopmund and its surroundings, a visit to this museum is an absolute must. It provides a comprehensive and engaging understanding of the town's past, present, and natural environment. I left feeling enriched and with a deeper appreciation for the unique character of Swakopmund. It's a truly valuable cultural institution and a highlight of any visit to the coast!
The Swakopmund Museum in Namibia is a fascinating cultural and historical institution with several unique features that make it special: 1. Oldest Museum in Namibia Established in 1951, it is one of the oldest museums in the country and offers a deep dive into Namibia’s natural and cultural history. 2. Authentic Artifacts & Dioramas Features lifelike dioramas of wildlife and traditional Namibian villages. Houses an impressive collection of historical objects, including a replica of the Martin Luther steam locomotive (used in colonial times). 4. Focus on NamibianGerman Heritage Swakopmund was a major German colonial settlement, and the museum preserves this legacy with exhibits on early settlers, architecture, and daily life. 5. Whale Skeleton & Marine Exhibits One of its standout displays is a full whale skeleton, highlighting Namibia’s marine biodiversity. Also features exhibits on the diamond mining industry, crucial to Namibia’s economy. 6. Located in a Historic Building The museum is housed in the old Swakopmund Customs House, adding to its historical charm. 7. Gateway to Namib Desert & Skeleton Coast Swakopmund is a tourist hub, and the museum provides context for visitors exploring the nearby Namib Desert, Skeleton Coast, and other attractions. Why Visit? The Swakopmund Museum is a must visit for anyone interested in Namibia’s diverse heritage, from its indigenous cultures to colonial history and unique ecosystems. It’s a great starting point before exploring the surrounding natural wonders.
We enjoyed learning about the history and kids loved seeing the animals as we did not see all of it during our tour in Namibia. This was a good place to go on a windy day as you spend quite some time to go through everything and read it. It has been taken care of quite well. Lady at front was super friendly and nice
Very interesting museum with lots of history and perfect preserved items.
It was our school kid's first time in a museum. They could not understand how dead animals still looked like they were still alive. One of our teachers, Mr Madhera took time to explain about taxidermy. This is a great place for school Kids as they get to see and learn a lot.
Without a doubt, the best museum in Namibia. The Swakopmund Museum is a true hidden gem that every visitor should see. It covers an incredible variety: an antique pharmacy, traditional kitchens and dining rooms, wildlife, geology, German maritime and war history, old printing techniques, and moving exhibits about Namibian culture and native peoples. Everything is beautifully organized in different rooms, making it easy and fascinating to explore. You can feel the passion and dedication in every display. This is not just a museum, but a labor of love. If you are looking for things to do in Swakopmund, this should be at the top of your list. It’s the perfect place to learn, be inspired, and connect with Namibia’s history. Truly unforgettable!
We arrived late, and the old man was kind enough to let us in without paying. We just donated a few coins. There are so many interesting things to see, and they are very well maintained. Pass by it you around.

Unfortunately I could not go up to the top this trip but hopefully to go up next time…apparently the view is great. Still cool old building with a lot of history
The Woermannhaus is one of the most recognizable buildings in the center of Swakopmund. While I was exploring Swakopmund, I saw the Woermannhaus from the outside, and although I didn't go inside, it was still a beautiful building to look at. It is easy to find, the surrounding area is safe, and there are plenty of photo opportunities. I have seen other reviewers mention that you can climb the tower for amazing views, but I didn't do so myself, so I can't confirm if this is still possible. Overall, definitely worth a visit, even just for a quick stop.
History, funn and worthwhile.
Beautiful German architecture building! It was closed on a Sunday! Worth the picture!
Very nice stairs. The gentleman in the shop in front opened the door. Friendly! Thank you 🙏🏻
Climb up the tower is worth it on a clear day, guy that opened up for us was nice and helpfull be prepared for a bunch of stairs 😁
Historical place. You feel like you are walking in history. The view is spectacular from up there.
Cool view of swakop and the art exhibition had a beautiful painting of the old Swakopmund on exhibit and the staff member was friendly. The library was open for public. It's just a quick pop in 30min or so.

Great place, if only they allowed handling of the python snakes😄😁
I was shocked! The terrariums are way too small and only filled with sand and stones. And no! That’s not what the desert looks like! Snakes need fresh air or at least a small plant for oxygen. They can’t hide which is something snakes need to do to feel safe. I’m not a snake expert but I’m sure putting 4 pythons each of 3-4 meters length in a terrarium of 4,5 square meters is definitely too crowded! All of the snakes are hitting their heads at the glass trying to get out! This is animal cruelty! My advice: upgrade this place ASAP! But mostly: get species that are about to extinct and help them to propagate. Once they do, set them free. That’s the only reason why humans should capture wild animals. Also hang up information sheets about the drastic extinction to make sure people learn something when they leave. If you visit this snake park now, especially children will have an understanding of wild animals that is completely wrong!
This place is really worth a visit, they rehouse 'nuicance' snakes and are sympathetic to their perception to locals and people in general. Excellent selection of stunning snakes form the south. Truly brilliant.
The place is very nice, has a very nice variety of snakes and some reptiles. The owner was super friendly and gave us alot of useful information. We enjoyed it thoroughly.
My kids and I love going to this snake park. There are so many species and they are well taken care of. The staff as fantastic too.
Very fun visit, a lot of snakes to see.
The snake park is a must see to learn more about the reptiles in Namibia. The main attraction is the large variety of venomous snakes including different cobras, black mamba, vipers and pythons. Not for the faint-hearted, however very educational and garners better understanding and respect for these reptiles.
We had a fantastic time. Kids loved it. Best snake museum ever

My husband and I were fortunate enough to visit the church while a service was in process. A very friendly lady welcomed us in and offered us a place to sit and she also invited us to share holy communion with them. It was so meaningful and a blessed memory I will carry with me of Swakop forever. Thank you for your friendliness and hospitality. God bless.
Pastor Uwe and his wife Hanna-Rose, is always friendly and accommodating. I love visiting them
The church was nice with the memorial service. It was and still is heart breaking to lose a loved one💔💔💔💔. Other then that I felt welcomed and everything seemed to be at ease.....

It's great to be able to support the local people. The woman who owns this farm is funny, interesting and makes the whole experience just that much more great. My son just loved doing this and wants to come back for every holiday!
if you want the experience and the photo without spending the whole day i would stop here. the ride was about 15 minutes long for R200/N$200 and i enjoyed it because i really didn't want to sit for hours on a camel... the farms history is also interesting and the old German lady and her 2 workers are very friendly!
Was a great experience. I would recommend first thing you should try it's Camel riding at Camel Farm😊
What a worthwhile drive out of town. After enquiring in town and with friends back home, the Camel Farm was recommended far above the vendor right in town. The experience was really great. The lady owner was delightful and informative, and advised us not to go on too long a ride...and she was spot on. Get the experience and the feeling...but a long ride would be agony. She also took us through her fascinating garden of desert plants, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Dressing up the part was fun too!
If you cant go up North or the Middle East for the experience, this is the place for you. The owner, mature lady, was the most informative and friendliest person we met in Swakopmund. She explained everything about camels, the town and its history and how the farm came to be. I would recommend this place to everyone who stops at or passes through Swakopmund.
Kids really loved it!

Nothing I love more than a good antique shop. This place has a great selection of bric a brac, local antiques, books, curiousa and decoratives. A little bit of everything and when you’re done shopping go to Kuckis Pub next door for a burger and cold drink!
Very nice selection of the old German and South African influence items.I love antiques so I spend some time going threw a lot of items. The African items was super expensive and it's way cheaper in South Africa.I would defity recommend Petes Antiques to go visit when u are in Swakopmund
Wow, only go here when you have lots time to spare. It will take a long time to have a look at everything they have to offer. There are things from long before Namibian independence as well as from the time of German rule. They also stock the most amazing variety of African artifacts.
The store contains a lot of arfefacts from indigenous African tribes as well as old coins and medals It is rather expensive in comparison to the other places I've visited and bought old cutlery so I ended up buying only a very small little angel
Very nice masks, statues and jewelry for a reasonable price!
Very nice people and they are very passionate about the history they have. They are very knowledgeable about the products and the general history regarding the product. They are willing to help and very friendly
It's more like a museum than an antique shop. Interesting place to pop your head into while you're visiting Swakopmund.

The most notorious building in swakopmund! Gorgeous architecture from the 1900s. So much details! Make sure to stop by!
The Hohenzollernhaus in Swakopmund is a beautiful building with impressive architecture. Although I didn't have the chance to go inside, the exterior is still worth seeing. There are many photo opportunities, it's easy to find, and is within walking distance of other tourist attractions and restaurants such as Altstadt and Chrismann at The Trading Post. If you're in Swakopmund, it is definitely worth a visit.
Great building and around. Swakopmund is a popular beach resort, characterised by 19th-century German colonial architecture. The city was founded in 1892 as the main port for German South-West Africa. Swakopmund is often described as a more German city than Germany itself. Hohenzollernhaus, one of the most beautiful buildings.
Most photographed historical building in Swakopmund! It is only 100 metres from the beach and walking distance to all restuarants and activities. Beautifully renovated, fully furnished apartment! Would highly recommend it! Contact Owner Odette on +264 812148056
Really interesting house. Amazing what this German family accomplished in just a few years. Ask for the keys of the tower and they let you go up to the top for a fantastic view of the town.
We only did see it from the outside. Swakopmund is very German. As well in the good way, as in the bad way. It feels more like the old German instead of the new more open German. We found it need and tidy. But it was a strange situation in a country like Namibia. But for everyone I wish something he or she feels welcome. Swakopmund was to German for me.
Stayed here for several days through Airbnb. Could not have found a better place. Perfect for sundowners on the balcony.
You can book an accomodation in this buidling via Airbnb and get a huge flat on the groundfloor for a very good price. Really nice experience to live in a sightseeing.

This exceptionally upscale shopping mall boasts a remarkable feature - unobstructed views of the ocean. While the majority of the shops within this mall tend to close their doors by 7pm, your experience here doesn’t have to end. You can prolong your visit by savoring a delightful dinner at the mall’s restaurant, which welcomes patrons until 9pm. This unique combination of high-end shopping and seaside dining ensures a memorable and luxurious experience in Swakopmund.
Platz Am Meer is an absolutely stunning shopping centre with the most beautiful ocean views! A great variety of shops including Dis-Chem, Checkers, Edgars, Clicks and many more, so you can find almost everything you need in one place. There’s also a nice mix of fast food outlets and lovely sit-down restaurants, perfect for enjoying a meal while overlooking the ocean. Truly a must-visit when in Swakopmund!
Platz Am Meer is a modern, clean and well-maintained shopping center with a variety of stores and restaurants. It has a nice play area for kids outside and offers some ocean views as well. However, it is located quite far from the tourist center of Swakopmund. This makes it a very convenient option for locals to do their everyday shopping, rather than for tourists who are looking for unique experiences and souvenirs. Overall, Platz Am Meer is a decent shopping center and a practical place for daily essentials, but it is not a must-visit for tourists.
Best Mall ever in the coastal region of Namibia 🇳🇦
I took one star off because the wifi doesn't work, kept getting network security issues. Other than that nice mall, great mix of stores and places to eat.
I absolutely love this little mall. All of the necessary stores are there, like Checkers, Clicks, Truworths and cellphone shops. We ended our shopping day at Mugg & Bean which was absolutely fantastic. The views from the restaurant are beautiful. Most stores accept South African Rands however they will give change in Namibian dollars.
Beautiful shopping centre with lovely views of the ocean when dining one of the restaurants. Very clean as well!
In walking distance from my B&B. Not very crowded. Easy to move around and friendly service. Very beautiful 🤩 views too.

Incredible service, fantastic advice , superb quality - and if you have a little bit of time, you’re in for a treat when it comes to the history of Namibia 👌
I ve been a customer for some time already and the incredible talent of perception how to shoot what is in front of the lens and the quality of the then later print make this gallery a MUST when in Swakopmund and in Namibia. I know the southern part of Africa quite well and honestly consider this gallery to be unique in what it offers. It could easily compete with any gallery in a big metropolis in the world! The price range is very affordable: 40x40cm prints are on offer as well as wall covering impressive big prints, taking you right into the location. My 5 star rating is deserved as I love photography and see the outstanding talent and quality.
Xenia is an absolute talent, no question. Would recommend her anytime you are looking for landscapes like those that can only be created in Namibia
