What an unforgettable trip to Hluhluwe Game Reserve! The staff's hospitality and genuine kindness were exceptional from the moment we arrived. Every member of the team was friendly, generous, and happy to help. Our chalet was comfortable and fully equipped, but it was the game drives that truly stole the show. We were so fortunate to see a remarkable number of animals, a record for me! This was a very special holiday for me as I treated my gorgeous mum and sister to a holiday at Hluhluwe GR whilst visiting from Australia Melbourne, and the experience exceeded all our expectations. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making this trip so memorable.
From the first hello at the gate, we felt looked after. Every ranger and receptionist we met was easygoing, attentive, and genuinely keen to make our stay smooth. Our unit was spotless and snug—a hot shower after the evening drive felt like luxury—yet it was the time out in the reserve that swept us away. Dawn breaks, steaming mugs in hand, then suddenly the bush comes alive: rhino in the mist, elephants ghosting through the fever trees, a burst of oxpeckers and laughter in the vehicle. I’ve never ticked so many sightings in a single trip. What made it unforgettable was sharing it with family. We swapped seats so everyone got the best views, argued (happily) over which moment was “the one,” and ended each night under a sky full of stars, grateful and quiet. Hluhluwe–iMfolozi gave us more than animals and photos—it gave us that rare feeling of time stretching in the best possible way. Heartfelt thanks to the team who made it feel effortless; we left rested, thrilled, and already planning the next visit.
A little bit rough approach to the park (potholes, cattle and goats), but very good roads in the park. Both paved and dirt roads were accessible to small 2wd cars. The staff were very friendly and helpful a d the rest and camp areas were well appointed and safe. We only had about 4 hours and couldn't cover the 96 000 hectares, but we saw plentiful animals including Elephants, Buffaloes (well in excess of 100), Rhinoceros, Hyena, Nyala, Warthog, Gazelle, Zebra, Monkeys, even a very large Iguana, and more. Unfortunately we missed out on the Lions and Leopards, but we'll try again next time. The veld and views were just magnificent. This in itself already made the trip worthwhile. All-up really good value for money and definitely worth the trip. We would seriously consider booking a night or two at one of the camps on our next visit to the area.
Wow what an amazing park. Great game viewing. Probably the best park with kids in South Africa. We stayed two nights at Hilltop Camp. Just perfect no complaints. If you want to see Rhinos this is the park saw 11 on our first day
Such a beautiful setting for seeing the animals! We had a really wonderful time! The animals are very different in their natural settings and for us, it was a dream to so them!
An unbelievably amazing day. Rhino, Elephants, Giraffes and Zebras were the main highlights for us! A beautiful park with amazing facilities and a great restaurant! Staff here were among the friendliest! Great that Petrol was available too as we needed it!
Amazing safari experience. We used Heritage Safari tours. I want to also give a huge shout out to the two receptionist at the counter who were very friendly and helpful while we waited for our driver.
A day to remember. I grew up in South Africa so I have seen these wonderful animals before, but as an adult with my own kids it was a wonderful experience. We were unbelievably lucky to get lions right at the start. Id suggest taking a game drive through one of the local companies as they pick you up if you are close enough and will explain a lot of things. The scenery is amazing too. Great day.

We have been coming to Emdoneni every year for the past 14 years & NEVER disappoints. It’s wonderful & the work they do is amazing. So much so that we adopted a Cheetah for a ‘lifetime’ & the best money we’ve ever spent!!!! Keep up your amazing work!!!! Recommend Emdoneni to ALL🐾🐾🐾
We stayed 2 nights at Emdoneni. +the cat tour was great, it was really nice seeing the cats up close. +the room was spacious +the staff was friendly -the cat tour is open to both hotel guests and external guests, sometimes huge groups, would be great to have separate tour for hotel guests so there is a reason to stay at the hotel
Emdoneni Cheetah and Cat Project is still a valuable and memorable outing. They are strong advocates for finding ways to reduce predator pressure on livestock without killing. This contribution to conservation of our cat species is vital. Visits to the project help the efforts continue. Well worth the time and effort. Plus the guide has a delightful sense of humour.
I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Emdoneni Lodge! From the moment I arrived, the warm and friendly staff made me feel right at home. The lodge itself is beautifully maintained, offering a perfect blend of comfort and rustic charm. My room was spacious, clean, and well-appointed, providing all the amenities I needed for a relaxing stay. What truly sets Emdoneni Lodge apart is its stunning natural surroundings. Nestled in a serene location, it offers breathtaking views and a peaceful atmosphere that made my stay incredibly rejuvenating. The wildlife and nature walks available were a highlight, allowing me to connect with the environment in a meaningful way. The food served at the lodge was delicious, with a great variety of local and international dishes prepared with care and fresh ingredients. The communal dining experience also gave me a chance to meet other guests and share stories. Overall, Emdoneni Lodge exceeded all my expectations. Whether you’re looking for a quiet retreat, an adventure in nature, or a comfortable base to explore the area, this lodge is an excellent choice. I highly recommend it and look forward to returning soon!
We were pleasantly surprised @ the excellent service provided- it’s definitely international level! We stayed @ the Wind Fall cottage- was luvely! Zebras grazed near us & we cud see the cheetahs from the front yard. Will definitely recommend Also- the cat tour was extremely gud as well- its an additional affordable cost Well worth it!
The team is caring , and the food is good.We did the animal tour and enjoyed it, and so did all the kids.Again, the Ranger has been very professional Rooms are very clean

I was not expecting much but I was very impressed. It's clean and well managed. Everything is purpose built and it must have cost a fortune. The entrance fee was very reasonable. Great coffee shop and restaurant. Lot's of things for the children to do . Definitely worth another visit
We eventually visited this business after many of times of passing it on our travels to the coast. I would definitely recommend this place for any nature lover or enthusiast. Place and amenities are well designed, food and the menu was excellent and personal were very friendly. Animals were well looked after and many firsts were experienced when referring to the snakes. This should be a definite stop if you are in the area.
We had such a wonderful time at Zulu Croc Hluhluwe! The reptiles are very impressive and clearly well looked after. The Rafiki Restaurant was also a real treat – the steaks were delicious and tasteful, paired with a crispy, fresh salad. Of course, our server Ntunthu was kind, attentive, and quick with our order, which made the experience even better. Thank you, Zulu Croc, for a truly great experience! Werner & Tisha
It was an interesting place. It was quite intimidating to see this many snakes and spiders in an enclosure. I hope management will make it a priority to upgrade the enclosure by introducing natural features of a landscape, and clean water is regularly provided to the critters. The sizes of the crocodiles were impressive.
A very cool venue with very cool reptiles and arachnids. Slightly disappointed that there were no guides to take us around. Did a self walk.
Wonderful place loved how that the animals well taken care of. Loved that we were able to feed the goats and fishes. We where also able to feel the tortoise . The animals were all nice and fat (well fed) and it has come to my concern that one of the snake habitat was a bit open. The scary part is that it was the biggest snakes habitat. Overall hidden gem
It was fantastic!! We had a quick stop and some drinks on our way to Sodwana. Our waiters was a star!! Really great sense of humor to go along with food that looked really tasty when delivered to other patrons. The facilities are very nice and clean and next time we'll spend more time. A place I'll recommend to travellers in this region.
The place was so clean. It was really exciting to see the reptiles and snakes. Will definitely go again!
