We spent three days with top notch tour guides in the magical Huasteca Potosina. We did it all - waterfalls, gardens, little towns... But we missed a few things so we will have to come back for rappelling, rafting and waterfall jumping. Wonderful experience with generous new friends and welcoming staff. When can I come back!??

Great experience. All the guides (we had a different one every day) were extremely knowledgeable and sociable. Even with some of the longer van rides, all the guides made the time fly. You can tell each activity/day is well planned, with built in time for questions, snacks, and meals (included in price). You also get picked up and dropped off at your hotel everyday. The activities we did were Xilitlan/Sótano de las Huahuas, rafting, and rappelling.

The White Water Rafting experience was fantastic. The crew we had was phenomenal; they made sure everyone understood the safety procedures and made sure we had a good time. I would recommend this for someone looking for a nice easy rafting trip. (They were class 3 when we rafted).

*THE TOUR* We did the 3-day tour with Leon and Tavo. They came to pick us up every day, on time. They are certified tourism guides so they know how to tell a story, keep you entertained and safe. They are super professional and always looking after you, as well as great people. It's clear they work very hard! They encouraged us to get to know everyone on our tour and make friends. They also encouraged us to challenge ourselves with jumping and swimming. The activities themselves are unforgettable, the rafting on the Tampaón river to the Cascada de Tamul is a bit of effort, but worth it at the end for the view and blue. The puente de dios was beautiful, and Tavo really supported us to explore the area and have a lot of fun. El sótano de las huahuas is like nothing I've ever seen. To ascend, you hire and tip a local teenager volunteer to do the tour when you are there, and this was great to understand more about the local culture and their knowledge of their area. The bus journeys to and from the were even made fun with music and ice breakers, and regular stops to regular vendors for ice cream, cakes or drinks. *HOTEL* The hotel we stayed was Hotel Tamtokow in Ciudad Valles. It was a bit dated and we had a room without a window. I enjoyed the breakfast (choice of 3 things with eggs, plus coffee and fruit). We took a taxi at night from the bus station which was $180 (pesos) and then a return in the day was $70. *FOOD* The food during the tour in Ciudad Valles and around wasn't always amazing, just okay. We had a great meal at the Xilitla Cervecería James (pictured). The only critiques are that the communication with the company is a bit slow and sometimes took days for a response. We also didn't know the tour we were doing until the night before and we'd have liked more notice to prepare. They take photos of you with a waterproof camera which sometimes gets a bit annoying, it would also be nice to know how much the photos are ($700) before they take them. They also sent them 3+ weeks after. Overall, we had the best time on this tour, and we highly recommend it! Thanks so much again.

My husband and I had a wonderful time exploring Huasteca Potosina with Ruta Expediciones. We did four guided tours with them in Spanish; however, you can schedule in advance to have an English tour. All the guides were dedicated to making sure that everyone had a safe and memorable experience. The guides Leon and Melecio shared their knowledge of the towns and ecological sites we visited. Gady made sure we were always having fun with competitions and team-building challenges. When we needed a little motivation to keep rowing , Josuè had us singing and laughing along with him. Finally, David took the time to get to know each of the guests, asking about their interests and backgrounds. We got to each of the destinations safely thanks to Juanito's impressive driving skills. We also want to thank coordinator and problem-solver extraordinaire Andrea for helping us book our tours and finding a driver to get us to our group when we had missed the pick up time.

Alicia at the office speaks good English and is very helpful. They were able to accommodate our requests easily. Their guides are very knowledgeable and the tours are a lot of fun too!

I decided to book the 4 day pack. It was perfect. Amazing price (about $350). This included the hotel quinta mar (which was a great place), included the breakfast tickets to eat at the hotel (actual big plates of food, not just your low continental breakfast), also included a meal at the end of the day after every tour (every place the guides take you is amazing food), the entrance fee for every "park" you book, transportation in comfy vans with ac (they pick you up and drop you off at the hotel), and all this on top of amazing guides that's know it all. Our guides were Pepe (he went above and beyond, our favorite), Juan (went beyond and was awesome), David (amazing and super friendly), and Wilbur? (He also was great). Then the person that helped me get the process done, Tania, she was amazing and helpful through the whole process. For paying the 20% down, I just went to an oxxo and did the transfer. It was super easy and tool like 3 min. Don't feel sketch about it.

This place is magical!! The pictures cannot do it the justice it deserves. It can get crowded, but try and find a spot where you can enjoy the incredible waterfalls, the lush scenery, and get back in touch with your spiritual side. The water is refreshingingly clear. The locals are all incredibly welcoming and friendly. Definitely try the pulque!! It is a very unique drink.

Would of been 5 stars but we didn't get to swim like we were originally told we would. Very beautiful.

Parking was free, pay 40 pesos per person to enter, walk about 10 minutes down to river. Don't bring anything but pesos with you, and towels. Then pay 180 pesos each for jumping and swimming down the river/waterfalls. We didn't ask about the other activities. On the plus side, the guided take pictures and send them via WhatsApp and this is included in the 180 pesos :) The experience was awesome. I didn't like how you must pay to get to the river and then pay for activities, and that once you pay you need to return everything to your car because there isn't a secure way to store anything down at the river, nor that after they issue your helmet and life preserver you must walk up stairs to reach the road and walk further up the road ... but jumping the waterfalls and floating/swimming the cold river was a very enjoyable experience. There is food sold, tasted good, and coffee plus other beverages. Before you enter there are many water shoes and clothes for sale, as well as tourist stuff.

Absolutely stunning. I went with my family and it did not disappoint. It's easy to spend a whole day here and enjoy the scenery. While it does cost a few pesos to swim (you need a life jacket to swim by the waterfall), it's worth every peso to swim and explore this beautiful landscape. The tourist shops are also very worth it as well, selling waterproof cases for your phone (with straps to not lose it!), coffee bean earrings, handmade goods, pet toys, and souvenirs galore, it's a wonder that this place isn't more popular. Truly a hidden gem. (Also, if you're planning to go here, bring your own toilet paper! This is common in Mexico, but if you want toilet paper here, it costs a few extra pesos that you could save.)

The admission is very affordable. You can take your own food or there are plenty of vendors. If you want to swim at the head of the park, signs everywhere says you have to have a life vest. Great place for camping or a visit. The entrance road is pretty rough, but as all things in Mexico, this may change tomorrow.

Not sure if this is worth going to if you're not doing some sort of water/tour group activity here as well. It's definitely beautiful, don't get me wrong, I just think other waterfalls/sites around the region are more worth your time if you have a tight schedule.
