Amazing to see something so unique! I do wonder if there is a tour that you can do that explains the entire history of this bridge but for the meantime the signs will do :) I would also love to see if it still opens up and I'd like to watch it happen!
A lovely old bridge that I would love to see open. It opens on Saturday and Sunday afternoon at 3&4pm according to the signs. You can walk across and get lovely views of the LaTrobe River. A couple of picnic tables and a large car park.
Was lovely where we were seated, to have lunch and let the kids run amok, bridge was stunning, however it takes an eternity to turn (maybe 20 minutes) and this is boring for the kids if it's all you go for - i suggest packing a lunch or snacks that you can eat while watching. Very impressed with the council for keeping this going, it was very interesting to see overall, so as to understand this integral part of sales history.
The Swing Bridge has a really cool backstory, and it’s worth stopping to read about its history. The view from the bridge is great, and it’s amazing to see such an old structure still standing strong today. However, there are quite a lot of spider webs and insects all around the bridge. Everyone felt a bit itchy after walking across! It’s still an interesting spot to visit, but definitely bring insect spray and be cautious while crossing.
Iconic engineering marvel for its time, this innovative swing bridge is part of a larger wildlife/marshland conservation park that features extensive walks and explanation concerning it's natural environment. The bridge itself is able to be traversed on foot and the design of the bridge can be easily studied. Recommend a brief stop for the bridge or a more extensive exploration of the larger park area. Lots of cycleways.
Fantastic spot to stretch legs and have a picnic.
Impressive engineering and very well maintained. Beautiful location.
Quick stop to stretch our legs before continuing on to our destination. We were leaving as the boat cruise was approaching the bridge

Sale Botanic Gardens 🪴 is open on all days.I’m not informed if it’s open on night time. Here you are welcome by vines, trees on which wild animals thrive, feed and simply their niche. Each area of plants,🌱 trees and flowers 🌺…there’s a description for public information what’s it all about and how the trees got there and what are they for.It was an amazing sight for me personally for those plants way back in school,I only have glances on a Biology book. Here at last by some miracle I have smelled and come see them face to face for free.First time to see a white peacock and how it sounds. These fauna can just go across the streets and houses across the lush garden unharmed.
We stopped here to stretch our legs and for a toilet break on the way to Lakes Entrance from Melbourne. This is a lovely family friendly place to explore the local environment and wildlife. Here are also some cultural sites to demonstrate local culture and history.
Beautiful gardens beside the lake, interesting history, abundant bird life including some magnificent peacocks, easy walking tracks, plenty of toilets and an awesome large playground. Bbq facilities and covered picnic tables, tennis courts available and all this for FREE! Highly recommend visiting for relaxation or fun.
A beautiful garden with a rich history and wonderful playground for the children. The peacocks were a highlight and bonus surprise! We didn't make it to the lake but it looked great.
A must visit, a simple well done Botanic Gardens A great range of species. Awesome kids playground Parkrun And good modern clean facilities Plenty to see and find if you go for a wander!!
Came here with my mum and my 14 month old toddler. Was a really good playground and had things for older kids and some for his age. The peacocks were an awesome surprise, and were not aggressive. One blue one was particularly friendly actually, probably hoping we were going to feed it. The gardens were really lovely and the lake is gorgeous. There's a lot of lawn area as well that you could picnic on in good weather. They had two pavilions with tables and seating, that could host a decent amount of people under. They were also very attractively built pavilions. A nice feature, as many pavilions are daily stock standard or even ugly in their design. The toilets were clean and not unpleasant to use. Would definitely come here again.
Beautiful gardens to wander formal walkways and extended walks along bush trails around the lakes. Fun kids areas for adventures, playgrounds for all abilities with sheltered bbq, picnic tables and benches close by. Clean hygienic toilets and drinking water. Fun water spouts for play on warm days. Native birdlife, water birds and entertaining peacocks are seen every day.
A very beautiful Botanical Garden. It has many paths around the garden which meander around to different parts. There is a very impressive playground there with an equally impressive public toilet which was very clean. The gardens are well maintained and there are also a few art sculptures there. Electric BBQs were clean and had many seats.

Our cruise on the Sale Canal was both beautiful and fascinating. Our skipper/owner, Allen is in my opinion, a living legend. His commentary was comprehensive, informative and very entertaining. But his association and contributions to Sale itself is equally as interesting as the history of the river. Courtesy of an electric motor, the cruise on the historic Rubeena was peaceful and quite beautiful. The ancient Red River Gums, with evidence of indigenous lifestyle are truly magnificent. Allen points out the wildlife while explaining the construction of the canal and swing bridge. Loved every minute.
Loved it. What a great way to learn about the history of the Port of Sake and the creation on the canal in a beautiful wooden boat with Alan. A very interesting and informative captain. The wildlife were co-operating so we did see for example: kingfisher, pelican, kite and a koala. We had a great time.
My wife and I did this amazing river cruise with Alan and his historic boat Rubeena from Port of Sale today. Alan's knowledge of the rivers, the local indigenous people, the wildlife, the swing bridge and a host of other subjects never ceased to amaze. This is a must-do activity when visiting Sale.
We had a lovely time on the Port of Sale Heritage Cruise this afternoon. Alan was very informative and his knowledge of the history of the canal and Sale was remarkable. Would definitely recommend.
Very good service. Nice trip to see all the native birds and plants. Also very cool to see the swing bridge opening. The captain is nice and friendly :-) They are friendly to dogs :-) But ring and ask before you go with your dog tho because our dog is small :-)
Must go on this trip. The captain was very friendly. Good job
Allan Lewis the owner operator, skipper and guide has a wealth of information to share.
We really rated our visit to 'Port of Sale', and after doing a nice lakeside & Botanic Gardens walk hopped on the 10am 'Heritage Cruise' on the EMV Rubeena with 81 yr old owner/skipper Alan - my word that bloke knows his stuff - bloody great way to spend a couple of hours on the waterways, and we salute the wonderful knowledge of Alan

What a great little stop, we only intended to grab a coffee at the Dock Cafe, but were very impressed with the whole centre, the gallery is interesting and is free, we recommend you stop as well
We passed by here on our trip from Canberra to Melbourne and were warmly received by Ms. Beverly Lynn. She introduced and told us about the history and scenery of Sale, which made us understand this small city. We are grateful for her service, which made us not miss this beautiful town.
Amazing facility comprising the visitor centre, amazing gallery and a large library. Also Dock 70 Cafe is there serving up, among other treats, really good coffee. Staff at the information centre are exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable, not only for the local area but also surrounding areas in other shires. Certainly a worthwhile stop on your way to or on your way through Sale.
Very good visitor center. We were helped by Amy, she was amazing, knowledgeable, and friendly. She gave us plenty of recommendations to do. The visitor center also has a cafe and arts studio. Clean and lots of parking.
This would be the best Visitor Information Centre I've been in and I've been in a few!!! There was an enormous amount of information, leaflets, booklets and maps available not only for this area but other areas in Victoria. Staff were very helpful also. The centre was beautiful and included a gallery of amazingly different works. Coffee shop was also available. Congratulations to the Council.
Friendly staff, nice place to take a break from drive and enjoy the coffee
What a fabulous Visitor Centre and Art Gallery with friendly and helpful staff. My wife and I visited on 11 March 2023 and were looking at the racks with information when Kim left her desk and came to us to inquire if we needed help. Amazing, friendly and helpful service. We then went through the excellent Art Gallery and were blown away with the quality of the art and the incredible community behind this operation. Also met the delightful Pam who was also welcoming and lovely to chat too and interested in our travel story as we discovered our common love of social ballroom dancing! We left feeling this is an amazing community that makes a great deal of effort to welcome visitors.
Very helpful staff who provided a tonne of great information about our drive. The place itself is very clean and new. The free art gallery inside it is such a huge plus. The Cafe is great and good value.

We spontaneous stopped here because of a sign so weren’t expecting much but we were really amazed by all of the special birds we saw, different water birds, including a black swan, enormous pelicans and two different raptors. We also stared in confusion at something that looked like a fish orgy to find out it was a carp spawning (so quite accurate). And this while we only did a part of the loop following the sign “to the lookout”. We were sad we didn’t have time to do the actual boardwalk.
Great place for a walk. The full loop is around 15km. The broadwalk on the eastern side is out of order. Beautiful place.
Very nice spot, saw many pelicans, few spots to sit and watch the boats and wildlife. Looks like a great spot to kayak
Huge area with extensive tracks and boardwalks. Lots of Birdlife to see. Great for bikes or pedestrian. Take some water on a hot day.
Great place, so peaceful and natural! So much wildlife, and stunning to go in the evening as the sun is setting.
Great place - but be aware of the snakes (we saw 2).... as we walked past the long grassy area .... couldn't wait to get back to our car
This is a really special wetland. The place had a wild untouched look that made me like I was back in Australia before all the land clearing.
Good walk, but we haven’t seen any birds or animals.

A fantastic museum. So worth a visit. Was so surprised hearing about all the casualties of local men, just during training. Thankyou Mal and Lindsay for showing us around. Passionate volunteers keeping gems like this museum going
Absolutely great experience, very friendly volunteers, and many cool artifacts to look at. 100% worth a visit!
Great place to stop and remember all those who sacrificed their lives so that we can have the freedoms we enjoy today. I encourage you to spend some time talking to the volunteers. They have a wealth of knowledge and memories to share, and a few yarns.
First visit on the weekend with a group, these guys know their stuff! Walking talking history, and soooo much written history you could be here for days reading the touching stories of loss and life. Very informative, well researched. Strong focus on local airforce and connections. Highly reccomend.
Wasn't a planned stop but seen the signs from highway and thought we would go for a look, and wasn't we surprised. The collection of historical pieces were great, the staff here were so informative and told us all about the displays were full of knowledge and showed great passion when telling us stories.
Super interesting museum! Rick and Mal are wonderful and had great stories to tell. Can’t recommend stopping here enough!
Small, but a lot of photos and some items in there. And because it is small, you can smell that 'history/archaic' smell. Loved it.
Don't hesitate, the Gippsland Armed Forces Museum is a must. Great value for money and a well curated collection for everyone to enjoy.

Beautifully simple and humble, yet divinely inspiring. Sale has a lovely and devoted Catholic community with a strong and work-hard history. A must visit to any trip through and around beautiful Gippsland!
what a beautiful church! truly made our stop a worthwhile one.
St Mary’s Cathedral (Catholic Church), Sale is the cathedral church of the diocese, under the patronage of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Purpose-built as a cathedral, St Mary’s boasts a Romanesque onyx high altar, notable stained glass windows and a large statue of Mary Help of Christians as its features. Four of Sale’s bishops are buried in the cathedral: Bishop Corbett lies in the main section of the church beneath the front rows of pews on the right hand side and Bishops Ryan, Lyons and Fox are interred in the Lady Chapel.
When I came to the Church as a new churchgoer, I felt apprehensive at the start but at the end of the weekend Mass, I felt apart of the Church. Wonderful place to keep your faith anew.
A lovely small Cathedral.
Welcoming atmosphere" alas felt abit empty with the removal of that beautiful high altar it had? Why destroy such artwork & people's hard working history???
It's the best place for anyone who wants to spend quality time in prayer.
My Grandmother's funeral service was held there. They did an awesome job and were sensitive to all our needs.

I went to sale on last weekend and came across this art gallery. It was simply beautiful. It also had a gift shop and cafe overlooking point of sale. The staff was really friendly.Overall the experience was superb.
I loved every minute of it. Took my clients with me today and they had a great time. Lots of parking, disabled toilets, cafe, plenty of seats to sit.. I mean I can go on and on but really had a great time... you should check it out.. buy tickets in advance if there is an event otherwise its free entry.
Just a wonderful experience! The Turner and Australia exhibition was brilliantly curated, and the venue was wonderful. The staff were great too. We had had a bad experience when we arrived in town, and the staff put together a small gift so that we didn’t go away with a negative perception of the town. No fear of that! I would really recommend this gallery to anyone.
We went to see the Turner and Australia exhibition. Beautifully curated, lots of beautiful works by other artists complementing the highlighted Turner works. Very very reasonably priced! Nice facilities. Easy parking.
Nice cafe, with lovely outlook to Port. Art Gallery has excellent high quality exhibitions in beautiful viewing spaces. With regular new work.
A retrospective exhibition of Annamieke Mien's magnificent textile artwork is on display throughout the Gallery space. Beautiful, sumptuous and intricately detailed textile artworks and sculptures adorn the walls and glass display cases, taking visitors on a wondrous journey charting the evolution of the artist and the development of her remarkable talents and skills. Her passion for Australian fauna and flora is self evident and a wonder to behold, a gift to us all. Allow plenty of time to meander. Awe inspiring and well worth the journey.
Annemieke Mein OAM has an exhibition at Gippsland Art Gallery in Foster Street until the 26th 0f May 2024 This exhibition is truly mind blowing and if your in Sale pop along Her creations are magnificent and the photos of the 3D embroidery does not do it justice It is one of the best exhibitions I have ever seen Annemieke is such a talented artist This exhibition is not to be missed The Gippsland Art Gallery is large and also has a cafe and library the The staff are wonderful and very helpful The cost is very reasonable at$20 per person and half price for locals. I’m not sure of children’s prices
Always good exhibitions to see. Changes regularly with local cultural exhibits. Good views to Port of Sale. Good cafe, coffee & food options.

What a lovely church. The service was lovely, we were welcomed and had a chat after the service. We went to the 8am service which was a tradition eucharistic service. The organist is very good!
Welcoming place with friendly folk. Lovely pipe organ. Well worth visiting even if you're not a church-goer. Hosts concerts and other events/activities regularly.
On walking in felt unwelcome when confronted by a women telling me to come back another time as they were soon having prayers (I was visiting town) felt awful, not a good atmosphere very closed to others" (welcome at st Mary's to visit tho)
Fabulous windows! Guides happy to give information. Well worth a visit.
we did a satanic ritual and they sacrificed a goat i got scared. I'm pretty sure i was the next
Far too hot for large gatherings, 1 guy fainted . fans are cheap!
Friendly. Many activities for varying tastes. Strong spiritual life. Working ecumenically and inter-faith.
I went to the annual second hand book sale - wow! The books I picked up for only a dollar or two!

Part of botanic gardens I'm guessing, beautiful well maintained gardens with lots of areas to look at, great kids playground, waterpark, flying fox, beautiful sensory garden, massive trees, lots of lyrebirds AND bats, great barbeque/picnic areas, you could spend all day there just walking playing, eating, smelling/feeling whatever,
A lovely spot in Sale. Easy 2.5km walk around the lake plus plenty of little things along the way for the kids to do such as a climbing wall, seesaw, maze, etc. The fountains are a nice touch. It’s a bit of a shame that some people don’t pick up their rubbish though.
A pleasant lake and great for running or walking around. Dogs allowed on leash and there's quite a wealth of wildlife on the lake. Busy roads nearby however, and a short walk form the centre.
I love our lake, great place to catch pokemon or the enjoy peace and quiet
Lake Guthridge is amazing and the bio diversity and work put into keeping it beautiful is a credit to the council and all that work to keep it that way 👏
Beautiful, many birds . Night time big moon shining on the water , it’s amazing beautiful.
Great place to walk or exercise around. The town has improved the visitor experience here over time. Easy walk & jog paths, seating, Parks, its all here for a nice stop.

Kitchen Cabinet Painting Project – Windsor We recently completed a kitchen cabinet painting project in a beautiful home in Windsor. To achieve a fresh and modern look, we started with a thorough surface preparation and applied one coat of high-quality undercoat to ensure proper adhesion and durability. Following that, we carefully applied two coats of premium topcoat paint, providing a smooth and flawless finish. The transformation was remarkable—this process completely refreshed and brightened the kitchen space, giving it a clean, updated feel. The homeowners were extremely satisfied with the outcome, impressed by how a professional paint job could make their kitchen look brand new without the need for a full renovation. This project highlights how proper preparation and attention to detail can significantly enhance any space, and we’re proud to have delivered results that exceeded expectations.
The complex was clean, most stores were open but it was very quiet. Maybe that’s usual for a Saturday afternoon. Would love to try the Mexican up Coles end, next time we are in town. Pleasant little complex!
The Gippsland Centre is a fantastic shopping destination with a great mix of stores, from big brands to unique local shops. Clean, well-maintained, and easy to navigate, with plenty of parking. Friendly staff and a welcoming vibe make it perfect for a relaxed day out.
is a good place especially if you like a lot of things going on, plus so many people work here so if you have a decent chunk of local friends there bound to be a friend close!
Centre has many good stores. Not too busy, but it's easy to walk around. Would go back there again.
Great place for all your needs well most anyways, they have a Woolworth,Coles,Target, fish and chips, best and less and many more great food, clothes shops etc.

Large lake fringed by gums and native gardens and brimming with water birds. Extensive walking tracks with a boardwalk across the lake. Worth a visit.
A small little park with a lot of birds and thousands of bats hanging from the tree. Nice to walk around and is near to botanical gardens.
A southern extension for Lake Guthridge, the bird-rich Lake Guyatt serves as an overflow for its big sister and is a worthwhile place for a peaceful walk. The water is enclosed by a reserve, and you can follow a broad gravel path around the banks, connecting with the trail around Lake Guthridge. The Lake Guyatt Cultural trail here has enlightening signs going into Aboriginal culture, also detailing the plant and animal species in the reserve. On the lake’s east side is Stephenson Park, Sale’s main space for outdoor sports and going through a 1.65-million-dollar redevelopment at the time of writing. South-west of Lake Guyatt stands the Sale Powder Magazine, built in the mid-1860s to store gunpowder for mine blasting.
Good walk beautiful gardens birds ducks stuff for kids and adults learn about local history and the indigenous people we wipe out
Nice lake with plenty of birds, especially ibises.
Peaceful, scenic, wildlife.
Beautiful place ! Walking around the lake , seeing swans , birds. Lovely bridge .

Love this restaurant, come by when you are at Sale, come for a meal and come and see Shirley's the original Art work I've painted. Artist Sandra Messner.
I went to the Wedge Cafe for Saturday brunch today. I am not keen on writing negative reviews but feel the need to do so after today’s unpleasant experience. I was surprised by the high cost of the meals when I looked at the menu. Most menu items were in the mid to high $20. This price is significantly more than I’m used to in Sydney where I have brunch regularly in places ranging from CBD to outer suburb locations. I chose to have the vegie breakfast with scrambled eggs instead of poached eggs which cost $35. The meal came in a bowl with sloppy scrambled eggs and all the contents swimming in a bowl of egg and mushroom juice. Yuk! The hash brown I added became very soggy and unpalatable and the mushrooms were similar. The sloppy scrambled eggs were the worst scrambled eggs I have had in years. They were reminiscent of old institution style (read: military Mess) scrambled eggs, not something for which I was paying a premium price. I had to be very careful not to splash juice on my clothes while trying to extricate the food items from the inappropriate bowl in which the cafe served the food. The waiter taking my payment asked me in the usual way if I was happy with the food. Of course I said that I wasn’t and why but his response was an offhand ‘oh, that’s the way we always serve our food’. I suspect that he did not pass on my disappointment. I have eaten brunch at this cafe a few years ago on another trip to Sale and was very happy with the food and price then. However, I will not be returning to this cafe in the future and suggest you avoid it too. There are plenty of alternative cafes here in Sale with its affluent and well paid inhabitants and transients.
Be a good idea to re train baristas. First coffee of the day the boss should taste.might then get it right amazeing how people make coffee yet they don't taste what they are makeing
The venue is great. Can have a lovely alcoholic drink whilst watching a show.
Love the food and staff are very friendly which made the whole experience much more enjoyable.
Great facility, we loved it
Fantastic venue for small theatre and live performances. Comfortable seating and easy access.
Excellent regional theatre. We are fortunate to be very on the route for the professional companies that tour Victoria. This theatre serves them and their audiences well. Also the venue for many local amateur productions. And to cap it all off, a great place for dining is incorporated in the front of the building.
