Had a really lovely Sunday at the Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. It was peaceful and not too busy, so we could take our time with the animals. The staff were welcoming and shared little bits of information that made the visit feel personal and memorable. We also stopped in at the café nook, which was such a nice surprise. It’s fully vegan, but even as someone who isn’t vegan, the food felt really approachable and satisfying — the kind of dishes anyone could enjoy. The staff were kind and took the time to explain the menu, including gluten-free choices, which made it easy. It was the perfect way to finish the visit. A thoughtful, relaxed place to spend a Sunday — highly recommend.
We had a FANTASTIC visit! The sanctuary has a nice variety of animals who have been rescued. They offer free tours, which I highly recommend. The host was very friendly and knowledgeable and took her time to answer all of the questions. The kangaroo area was a blast. There are about 100 kangaroos laying about waiting for a nice scratch and the sanctuary provides snacks for you to feed them. The Tasmanian Devils were a real treat as well.
This wildlife sanctuary was quite well maintained and curated for the size. It's pretty small though and only takes under an hour to explore slowly. There are an impressive number of free range kangaroos but they're totally lacking interest in the food given to feed them as everyone gets a free bag. They were already full at 10:30am on a weekday. Probably the best part about this sanctuary is how close and visible the wildlife is, and how placid and portable the kangaroos are. You can pat them easily as they're all laying around.
This is a great place to visit! It’s a private organization that runs on donations and entrance fees, and they do amazing work helping animals that are injured or can’t go back into the wild. They have Tasmanian devils, parrots, echidnas, and kangaroos. It was a pleasant and fun experience to see this place and the wonderful care they give to the animals. Highly recommend!
We had a stellar visit to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. We were advised to stop in during the day first, and that was excellent advice — the wildlife hospital is active then, and you can see the rescued animals being treated and cared for. During the day we saw plenty of birds, lizards, snakes, and more kangaroos than I could count. Their behaviour is both sweet and slightly bizarre: if you find the right spot on their chest that they can’t reach, they turn themselves around and line up for a scratch, clearly loving every moment. We returned in the evening for the private premium night tour, and it was worth every penny. There were four of us, and we were taken through the enclosures to feed and meet the nocturnal animals up close. We now have a ridiculous number of photos of us feeding and petting them. Highlights included the echidnas, the little wombat, and the opossum — though the Tasmanian devils and quolls are absolutely must-sees too, and only rank “second” because the others were in a class of their own. Our host was super informative, and we peppered him with questions which he handled easily. We learned about how the sanctuary is funded, the volunteer rescue network, how animals arrive, how they’re rehabilitated, and the individual stories behind many of the residents. It really brought home how worthwhile the effort is — this is a genuine, ongoing mission to protect and help native wildlife. It’s also worth remembering that your ticket helps support all of this vital work. A small note of guidance: you get out of this experience what you put in. If you’re visiting with very young children, a daytime stop may be enough, and the night tour might feel too long. If you’re only mildly interested in animals, the daytime visit could be sufficient and the evening tour a stretch. But if you — or your (pre-)teen kids — are truly into animals and their wellbeing, this is absolutely fantastic. A really special experience. Highly recommended.
Thank you so much to Ollie at Bonorong Wldlife Sanctuary for a fun, funny and informative Feeding Frenzy tour. From his explanation as to why kangaroo hopping is such an energy efficient mode of transport to his description of why the echidna is such a weird mammal, learning has never been so much fun. And the opportunity to respectfully interact with such a variety of creatures will be remembered for a long long time.
I accidentally left my watch in the restroom during my visit to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, and the team was incredibly kind and helpful. They not only found it but also took the time to carefully pack and post it back to me — even sending me the tracking details! I truly appreciate their honesty, professionalism, and warm service. Our visit that day was wonderful — the animals were lovely, the staff were friendly, and the whole experience was absolutely worth it. Highly recommended! 🙏😊
I visited Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary in Tasmania, and it was such a beautiful and meaningful place. Many rescued animals live there, and it’s amazing to see how well they are cared for. The staff are passionate and do incredible work to protect wildlife. Definitely worth visiting!

The best gins I've ever had. Each gin was so good in its own right and very different from the others. I find in general gins are a mixer for me, but these were so smooth with no harshness, I could enjoy each one neat all day. An absolute must for any spirits lover!! Also, their precious dog, Boss, is the best greeter ever!
Myself and 2 friends visited the distillery today and can't recommend it enough. It was only the three of us, Tyler answered all our questions and taught us lots about their products. A great personalised experience. 5 out of 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A random stop at my sister’s favourite distillery — and I’m so glad we did! We were welcomed by a wonderful host (and their furry sidekick & Boss 🐾). Tasted some of the most divine gin, liqueur, and vodka — and hands down the best Bloody Mary I’ve ever had. We had such a great time and may have even sampled a few upcoming releases (🤫). Big love to the local farmers, distillers, and hard workers behind it all. Support local — they’re doing amazing things.
This little distillery has some big things coming up! We booked the Saturday special 7K Distillery tour with tastings and from the moment Eve greeted us at the door she made us feel more like family than paying customers. Her passion for this company is evident in the way she tells the owner’s story of a young man staring out in 2 shipping containers and his dedication to his creative processes while being a wonderful employer and friend to all in the company. Eve has extensive knowledge in every aspect of distilling as she participates in everything from fruit preparation to the final product and its actually Eves artwork which is on every bottle manufactured. We were lucky to get a sneak preview of some new label designs she’s working on for new products and absolutely loved them. The products distilled at 7K are top quality and my avid vodka drinking friend said it’s the best vodka she’s ever tasted. We tried everything they make and each tasting was like WOW! My favorites were the Dry Chili Gin, Coffee Liqueur, Worlds Hottest Gin and of course the Gin Jam all of which I purchased. My bestie purchased the Vodka, Coffee Liqueur, Gin Jam and Raspberry Gin. I honestly can’t recommend this company enough book in a tour, meet the lovely staff and enjoy some amazing products from 7K Distillery.
Just attended the Saturday distillery tour, and what a great experience! Our tour guide was very welcoming and lovely, and the Gin and Whisky was top notch. A great place to take friends from interstate.
We found this little gem by chance. Tyler was so accomdating to our group ( we were a family of 10 travelling in a minibus so I think that was a surprise). You can clearly taste his passion distilling in his bespoke gins and spirits. We all had a fantastic visit learning about the art of fine fun and whisky making. If you are in the area I highly recommend you give Tyler a call and make an appointment to stop in, you won't be disappointed! Thanks Tyler for sharing your craft with us
Had the pleasure of a tour with Chappy and was well worth the trip! Loved the banter, knowledge and expertise over the full range of products. Picked up some “Worlds Hottest Gin” only as bags home were full, but ended up ordering a bunch to be delivered home as each product was top notch! Would 100% recommend a visit or online purchase.
After sampling 7K products at Salamanca market on Saturday ,I thought a visit to the distillery was in order. A drive along the beautiful River Derwent to New Norfolk on Monday led to a small but well set up distillery. We were warmly welcomed without appointment and got to sample more product, followed by a tour. I found the owner or one of, to be most generous after our purchases. Excellent Gin and Whisky. This Distillery is a must to visit, well worth the drive out to New Norfolk. You guys are a 5 star triple A rating.
