Came here 5 years ago and was eager to return to make a cuppa and enjoy the surrounds. It’s still a beautiful spot away from the city and I’m sure during the week it’s more accessible and quiet. However, weekends seem to be a different story. We struggled to find parking and it was very busy! So be prepared should you wish to back your car up and camp or anything. Then there’s the drop toilet. It functions. But after a weekend use one must wonder how one aims one’s freckle to the inside of the bowl like someone mudding the inside of a clay pot. It does get gross. Other than that, a nice spot.
Not too far away from civilisation, roughly 1.5 hours from South East Melb suburbs. Dogs allowed, no booking or fees, has tables, benches and firepits, 2x drop toilets available and is 2WD accessible. Average sized campgrounds which can comfortably accommodate 6 - 9 groups before feeling crowded. It is quite a hilly area and finding an area suitable to set up camp can be a little tricky due to the nature of the slope and holes everywhere. Bring your own firewood if you plan to make one as there are only twigs and small sticks around the area.
Looks like a nice place to camp. It's free, has a drop toilet, and is dog friendly. Plenty of bush drives nearby.
Beautiful open campground, easily accessible. Heaps of lyrebirds running around and making noises! Sadly thought a big patch of the campground has recently been torn up by deer and is a pretty much a big mud-patch when wet.
Haven't bush walked for a while, this was a great one to get back into it. Loved it, nice groomed track and lovely campsites. The local leeches and mosquitoes are very friendly and quick to welcome you ☺️. Just cover up and tuck your pants in your socks and you'll be fine.
Amazing campground in the woods! It was such an oasis after weeks in the city. Surrounded by tall trees, just a small gravel road running past, and easy access to a trail for either a day hike or an overnight at another camp site. Be warned that the last 15 k or so is on a gravel road, it's fairly well maintained but may not be suitable for all cars. The campground was very quiet ON Friday night and then quite busy Saturday. There are 5 or so campfire spots, but there were closer to 10 tents set up on Saturday and it didn't feel exceptionally crowded. The hardest part is finding a level area to pitch your tent. Has drop toilets but no water. Lots of benches and tables, and a small covered area for cooking.
It's a small area and we had a lot of family campers (could be our bad as it was the Sat-Sun of the long weekend). There were a lot of rabbit holes which were not too safe. Good trails for a nice trek.
Good, quiet spot for a little getaway. Although it is very hard to find flat ground and there are potholes all over the campsite which can be quite dangerous at night so be sure to bring a torch! The hike options around the site are great and they are pet-friendly; would recommend seeing the Ada Tree. Drop toilets were almost full and because of this, were quite stinky.
