The architect of this cathedral is beyond amazing, it’s unbelievable. The inside of the cathedral is so stunning, and incredibly beautiful. I had a wonderful experience in the city of Santiago. It’s super nice and clean. The local food and pastries are great. The architecture of the city is wonderful. I really enjoyed it. I really wanted to spend more hours in the cathedral, because it was a peaceful place for me. I already missed that place and I can’t wait to go back.
Everything about this building is extraordinary. The story of its history with a hermit finding the bones of James the apostle, all through to the current day with its modern pilgrims. The old town in which it is situated is a UNESCO world heritage place and is absolutely charming. Worth the visit to Northern Spain to see.
The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela is definitely a special place. People from all over the world come here after days—or even weeks—of exhaustion and devotion. Standing in the main square, you can see countless pilgrims celebrating their incredible accomplishments. The cathedral itself is stunning. Interestingly, some parts are built in the Manueline style, giving it a unique character. The main altar is breathtaking, but for me, the most memorable part was the fragrance that fills the space—a rich blend of myrrh and incense that stays with you long after you leave. This is absolutely worth a visit if you’re in Galicia. I came as part of a tour, but even though I’m not religious, I would love to walk the Camino someday.
The cathedral marks the final destination of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage and is believed to house the remains of Saint James, one of Jesus’s apostles. Construction began in 1075 and was completed in 1211, with major renovations from the 16th to the 18th centuries that blended Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque styles into a single monumental structure. Pilgrims traditionally finish their journey by giving a gentle embrace to the back of Saint James’s statue inside the cathedral. One of its most famous features is the Botafumeiro, the world’s largest censer, which swings dramatically from the ceiling during special masses and on the Feast of Saint James (July 25), symbolizing the purification of the sacred space. The main cathedral is free to enter, while access to the museum, roof, and towers requires a ticket. The Pórtico de la Gloria, a Romanesque masterpiece completed by Maestro Mateo in 1188, can be reached through the museum entrance.
The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela is without a doubt the most beautiful cathedral I have ever seen, both from the outside and the inside. Its grand façade, incredible detail, and sheer presence are breathtaking before you even step inside. But once you do, the interior is even more stunning — rich in history, art, and a powerful spiritual atmosphere that stays with you. We visited as part of a day tour and were fortunate to have a guided interior visit. The cathedral guide was excellent and we were given earphones so we could clearly hear everything. Learning about the architecture, the traditions, and the significance of this sacred site added so much depth to the experience. The highlight for me was the moment we had the chance to hug the relic of Saint James. It was deeply emotional and something I will always remember. Whether you are drawn by faith, art, history, or architecture, this cathedral is an absolute must-see. It is a place that moves you and leaves a lasting impression.
We walked 100 KM of the Camino De Santiago in 5 days and arrived at this absolutely magnificent church. It is so SO stunning and so big. I felt so awed by how impressive it was. The details are so intricate and the whole thing is just massive - it is such a gorgeous sight.
I believe that the monument I saw in Santiago was the most pleasant! It was filled with pilgrims who had arrived after days of walking! It is truly emotional. It is a massive cathedral with numerous museums to explore. I highly recommend it.
By far the most beautiful cathedral I have seen inside and out. Maybe that’s because I traveled miles by foot to see it but I was truly astonished. I attended the pilgrims mass and even though they said no phones everyone was recording and taking photos which kind of ruined the ambiance. Interesting Historical Clean

UNESCO-listed Ancient Roman lighthouse – Spain's 2nd-tallest, at 55m – with a sculpture garden.
Slide 1 of 8
Ticket boot is placed far away from the tower, so if you're coming a different way (from beach) you're going to miss it and you cannot enter. Online tickets are sold out as a rule. Anyway you can walk around and enjoy the wind from the ocean 🌊
We visited as part of a cruise stop in August. It's Worth being driven to the foot as its an uphill walk. The views get amazing with each step but it does require some exertion. If you want to see the roman ruins inside you need to book tickets. They are not sold at the entry so best check online. If you're tall, you will not be able to walk up straight in some areas but the lightening is good and artefacts are well labeled. There are stone stairs, at least 200, leading to the top of the tower which has even more majestic views. I advise pacing yourself and not being in a hurry to enjoy it fully and take time to catch your breath. Unless you're fit, don't have kids or the elderly with you. If you're claustrophobic this is not for you. Would highly recommend and would revisit at a more leisurely pace in the future. Don't forget to buy the tickets before arriving! You will certainly get your step count in!
Built between the late 1st and early 2nd century during the Roman era, this lighthouse is considered the oldest Roman lighthouse still in operation anywhere in the world. Standing about 55 meters tall, it rests on its original Roman foundations with later restorations added over time. Myths involving Hércules and the giant Gerión are traditionally linked to this site. From the top, visitors can enjoy sweeping views of the North Atlantic and the coastline of A Coruña. The surrounding sculpture park also makes it a pleasant area for walking. Be aware that strong winds are common here, and access to the top may be restricted on certain days.
A spectacular feat of engineering of it's day, understanding the strategic and commercial importance of why it was built is a story in itself. Entry is by ticket purchased at the bottom of the long ramp or on line. Entry is every 30 minutes for a limited number of people ( perhaps 30) there is no one to hurry you and you could stay longer. There is an exhibition of it's history at the lower level then 234 steps (and no lift ;-) ). My only constructive criticism is that the information boards are poorly placed and not illuminated. I couldn't manage to read many of them.
I would highly recommend you to purchase tickets online. We got here at 2 o'clock and there was no line, and there was nobody here, but they refused to sell tickets, it is a beautiful place. It could be a wonderful sunset. It's a wonderful place to walk around lots to see just to the south, there's more stuff to see if you continue to walk down the boardwalk, I would suggest you be prepared to walk a long way up a hill, if you do not. Have the right shoes nor or have the ability to do so I would think twice about going there. It offers wonderful. It's sunset photos as well as evening photos at night with the lights during the day. They sell ice cream and drinks at night. There is nothing there. There's plenty of parking down on the bottom. And it appears that you can drive up the ramp, if you're handicapped, it does it appear that there is parking but I did see cars parking up there. On the hill, by the door.
The Torre de Hércules is more than a lighthouse — it’s a symbol of A Coruña’s identity. Visiting it is like stepping back in time, while enjoying some of the most spectacular views in Galicia. An absolute must-see for anyone coming to this beautiful coastal city
Torre de Hercules was such an amazing place to visit! The family had so much fun exploring the grounds. The views were amazing!
The Torre de Hércules in A Coruña is seriously impressive—it’s actually the oldest working lighthouse in the world, dating back nearly 2,000 years to Roman times. Even without going inside, just walking around it is worth the visit. The views of the sea and the city from the cliffs nearby are absolutely stunning. It’s the kind of place where you can just stand and take it all in for a while. There’s a nice open feel to the area, and the mix of history and ocean makes it a really memorable stop.

The best views of La Coruña! Nice and relaxing place to walk, rest, meditate or just enjoy the view
Organised coach short tour via our cruise company, experienced local guide, font of knowledge, included visit to this park with on site restaurant/wedding venue; well looked after with tasty examples of tapas, tea/coffee & glass of wine. Great views of the city and its harbours, plus our cruise ship, in the middle distance.
We visited the park on a trip from our cruise ship. It was a miserable day, so unfortunately we didn't get many good views. But I can appreciate that in sunshine it would look pretty nice.
I had a very nice time exploring the landscapes and views of this area. I didn’t go to the botanical gardens. The views are outstanding
Highly recommended for the beautiful views and photo ops. A must for new visitors to Coruña, especially if enjoying a sunny and bright day.
Wonderful place with spectacular year views of the city and the ocean. And lots of history.
best view on A Coruña and the ocean, worth a visit when in town
Beautiful park with gorgeous views! Definitely check out the bush maze and the cúpula which has additional pretty vistas and also an interactive map you can spin. A must visit for anyone visiting La Coruña!

Lighthouses
Constructed in 1853, this active, 56-ft. lighthouse is set up high on a cliff overlooking the ocean.
Slide 1 of 8
Faro de Finisterre is a peaceful, rugged spot at the most western point of mainland Europe. It’s traditionally considered the final stop on the Camino de Santiago, and there’s even a bronze boot sculpture near the lighthouse to mark the end of the journey. When we visited, it was cloudy with the sun peeking through, which gave everything a calm, moody feel. Pretty windy too, even in July, so worth bringing a jacket. The lighthouse is simple, and the cliffs dropping into the ocean make for some dramatic views. It’s not overly crowded, and there’s a reflective vibe that fits the location. If you’re nearby or finishing the Camino, it’s a good place to take it all in.
What a wonderful view There's plenty of parking after you see everyone else park, you can go all the way to the lighthouse. There's a restaurant and a hotel there. The restaurant is only for the hotel. There's also a cafe and a bar where you can get drinks and souvenir shop to get trinkets, bathrooms plenty of space to get your sunset photos. Don't worry about getting there too early. We were there too early and had to leave before sunset.
beautiful vews from the end of the world. I lucked into a perfectly sunny day with no clouds in the sky. There were lots of tourists everywhere. The gift shop had lots of souvenirs and clothing. Great food at the cafe and restaurant. there was a line up to get your picture taken at the 0km marker but the line was not too long. overall a great experience.
If you have time, a visit to Finisterre is very rewarding. I walked there from Santiago but if you don't have a lot of time left there is a great bus service by Monbus that can get you there very inexpensively. Whether you walk as I did, or take the bus, you will be glad that you didn't skip Finisterre, the end of the world.
We were lucky that we got sunshine for our visit so we could see the sunset. Its well worth going to of you can and there was food and drinks at the top too!
The Finisterre Lighthouse (in Galician Faro de Fisterra) is one of the most iconic and evocative places in Spain, located on the extreme tip of the Costa da Morte in Galicia. Visiting the Finisterre Lighthouse is like getting to the end of the world. Literally. The Romans called it Finis Terrae, convinced that beyond that point there was only the ocean and the mystery. Even today, this 1853 lighthouse, 17 meters high and located 143 meters above sea level A, retains a mystical aura that fascinates travelers and pilgrims. Moreover, it is the final stage of the Camino de Santiago Many pilgrims, after reaching Santiago de Compostela, extend their journey to Finisterre. Here, in front of the ocean, are the 0.00 km ceppo and a single bronze boot (the other has been stolen), symbols of an inner and spiritual journey B. The lighthouse dominates a wild and powerful landscape, where the waves crash against the cliffs and the wind tells ancient stories. It is easy to understand why this area has been the scene of numerous shipwrecks, but also a source of inspiration for poets and travelers. The Finisterre Lighthouse is not just a geographical point: it is a place of the soul. If you are looking for silence, beauty and a feeling of infinity, this is the right place. It’s not just a visit: it’s an experience.
The Faro de Fisterra is a stunning spot with breathtaking ocean views and a sense of peaceful remoteness. Standing at what feels like the “end of the world” is truly special. The walk up is beautiful, and the sunsets are unforgettable. Definitely worth the visit!
Beautiful place to watch the sunset, get there a little earlier than you think to secure a nice spot, it gets busy!

Nice trip around the aquarium. Interactive for children. Highlight was staff feeding the 10? seals at 12 noon. Nautilus downstairs was interesting too, a 360 degrees panorama of fish tank. We also spotted some cleaning going on, as in photo..
Lovely visit to to Aquarium Finsterrae entrance was €10.30 per adult. Highlight of the Aquarium was the seals, several tanks featuring various species. Also on site is a gift shop. Staff were helpful and bi lingual so for the English among us there's no problem communicating. Location is easy to walk from Hercules Tower. Thankyou to the staff that made us feel so welcome.
Well worth a visit Fantastic value for money. Bargain Great Aquarium, great outdoor with Seals and the fish A lot bigger than what you think Very tidy Great shop Staff fantastic We went from cruise ship , easy to walk to.
Beautiful aquarium. It’s mostly in Spanish for those non-Spanish speakers. The exhibits are top notch and so educational. The marine life are varied. It’s a must see. Ask how the got their name!
Opened in 1999, this aquarium takes its name from the Latin word Finisterrae, meaning "the end of the world," reflecting the symbolic location of Galicia’s coast. It houses over 300 marine species and includes large tanks, interactive exhibits, and outdoor terraces. One highlight is the Sala Nautilus, an exhibition room built around a tank of nearly five million liters, where visitors can observe large fish and sharks swimming past the windows. The outdoor area connects directly to the sea, allowing visitors to watch seals swimming freely in their natural environment.
Nice aquarium with outdoor attraction of seals (only feeding and spain talk about them). Inside there are nice aqariums and many talking about fishes and sea But in spain only - no english. Ticket was fine price (family 28€) and you can pay by card.
Great place to visit good value for money, only downside is there isn't much English translation mostly everything is in Spanish
came here as a kid, around 15 years ago, and a lot has changed, some for the better, some for the worse, now they have got seals, which are super cute and seem happy enough, a lot of new exhibits and animals, but at the same time, less diversity in the big tanks, only one shark, some leaks and many computers and things you should be able to interact with that don't work or are incomplete. I still recommend the experience, especially for little kids or for people who enjoy sea life, I just hope they fix it up and add more sharks, like when I was a kid.

I was procrastinating my pilgrimage trip for 10 years, always finding an excuse for not to do it. Then researching on the web; I did find this great company: Pilgrim. Before I bought the package, I called and emailed about 20 times. Puri, my sales lady, was knowledgeable and patient and addressed every single con that I had. Then I realised, this Camino company was exactly what I was looking for and didn’t have any more excuses not to buy it. My religious motives to walk el Camino couldn’t been achieved without Pilgrim’s help. I am out of shape and after walking the first 22 kilometres, I had to change my bookings and reservations 10 times because of my blisters. I did talk with about almost every lady (Silvia, Lara, Cristal, Puri, are some of them)in the company while doing my booking changes and I received 100% great service every single time, so good, that I have decided to walk some stages of El Camino every year( I only walked the last 115 kilometres for the Compostela.) El Camino it’s something that will change your life forever, and Pilgrim is your best chance to achieve your goals. So get out of your couch and Walk El Camino. BUEN CAMINO!

Really helpful service and they found wonderful places for me to stay and they organised my Camino trip so that it was a joy. Very reliable too. Totally recommend.
Punto, excelente. Muy impresionado y agradecido con Pilgrim. Es una agencia que recomiendo al 100% (Translated by Google) I was lucky to contract with Pilgrim.es and the experience was absolutely incredible. Recently returned from completing the Camino Primitivo booked through Pilgrim.es Excellent service - from helping to plan the route, booking all the hotels and arranging baggage transfers. Everything worked flawlessly - hotels/pensions etc expecting us and bags always there when we arrived. Accommodation was very good - but beware that in some of the smaller hamlets there isn't much choice but Pilgrim put us in the best that was there ! Although we didn't need support during the Camino it was reassuring to know that they were local and on-hand to help should anything arise. Recommended !
We have just come back from walking the Camino Primitivo booked through Pilgrim.es. Pilgrim were amazing all the way - from providing so much information we asked for, tailoring our package to our specific needs, and answering our many questions. The accommodation they booked along the way was superb. This is a really good company to use to book your Camino with. They are situated in Galicia, so are on hand if you need them. They respond quickly to emails, and nothing was too much trouble. Baggage transfer worked perfectly too! Excellent value for money too! Will definitely use them for our next Camino!
We had a great Camino Portuguese with Pilgrim.es. We only booked very late and they managed to find us good accomodation and tailor the journey for us. The luggage portage and medical insurance was a bonus.
Fantastic service! You get in Santiago the same day you have to leave? No problem, they can assist you providing a shower, a place where to leave your backpack/bike/... while touring the city, a taxi and many others services. Perfect location, very close to the Cathedral
Excellent organisation for this lifetime event...always keep informed and the quality of at least 30 of 34 hotels / guests houses were superb , perhaps 3 or 4 were ok none poor..

Amazing that one can stay in a place with so much history. Room was relatively small but well laid out. Breakfast was sumptuous. Unbeatable location but an oasis from the bustle just outside
a stunning building - like no other hotel I've ever stayed in. The service was exceptionally attentive and the breakfast was delicious. Nothing was too much trouble. The only quibble was the hot water innthe shower - or lack of! But still a solid five stars.
I am writing this at 3.25am from my damp, cold room. The bed feels like a plank of wood, there is no heating, and despite the POURING rain there is still an astonishing amount of noise, human and vehicular, from the road outside the window. I still have another 2 nights to suffer through here. Save your money. This is not worth it. Did I mention the hole in the bed sheet. Not a luxury hotel.
This parador is justifiably acclaimed as one of the best hotels in Spain. Having stayed here several times, I can confirm it's reputation. To start with, the building itself is magnificent and a joy to explore. The location (right on Plaza de Obradoiro) is perfect. Add to this the usual high standard of rooms (generally very historic) and excellent service that define the paradors and this makes for a memorable stay. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are also occasions to be savoured in the two restaurants plus separate breakfast room. However, what probably is most impressive is the fact that, despite the high status and 5 star rating, the staff remain very pleasant and extremely helpful, with none of the snootiness that often goes with comparable establishments. Highly recommended - we'll be back.
Thank you for your dedication to excellent hospitality. The staff was helpful, approachable, and attentive. My room was kept perfectly clean each day. The meals were delicious and carefully prepared.
The Paradors in Spain have a well with deserved reputation. Of the ones that we have visited this one is definitely up to standards. Well worth the stay.If it's within your budget.
We went for breakfast only and it was awesome: amazing historical place on the most centric location in Santiago with excellent service and stunning quality. Such an ancient place does not allow to have the more finest commodities, yet it is on the high end anyway. Must go place...at least for a coffee!
The location is absolutely unbeatable — right on Obradoiro square, just steps from the cathedral. The building sits at a 90-degree angle to the cathedral facade, but some rooms (like mine) have windows with beautiful views of the cathedral towers — waking up to that was unforgettable. You can even drive straight to the entrance, and valet parking is available for €20 a night — very convenient in the old town. The building is steeped in history — originally a royal hospital for pilgrims. Access is limited to guests only, which keeps it peaceful inside even when the square is full of tourists. I loved walking through the quiet cloisters — every hallway has a sense of age and story. Perfect for anyone who appreciates heritage and calm spaces. Breakfast was generous, with plenty of options — fresh fruit, a selection of cold cuts, smoked salmon, breads, and jams. That said, if I ever return, I’d probably skip it. I personally enjoy a simple Spanish breakfast at a local café — pan con tomate, jamón, tortilla de patatas, and a strong café con leche always win me over more than any hotel buffet. I’d rather sit down with a warm tortilla or a fried egg and good bread at a neighborhood spot — nothing fancy, just real comfort. A truly memorable stay — not just a hotel, but a piece of history, with the cathedral right outside your window.

Nice city center park with some great views the cathedral, And some huge eucalyptus trees. Ferradura bar is a great place to get some tapas and a beer or wine
Looking for a spot where nature and history intertwine? Parque da Alameda in Santiago de Compostela is a lush escape that feels like a secret garden in the heart of the city. Stroll through its tree-lined paths, past quirky statues and vibrant flowerbeds, and you’ll feel the pulse of Galicia’s charm. Did you know the park’s iconic oak grove is home to trees over 200 years old, standing as silent witnesses to centuries of pilgrims passing by? Perfect for a peaceful walk or a moment to soak in the magic!
This is a beautiful park located near the Santiago de Compostela Cathedral. It features several monuments, lovely trees, and offers a wonderful view of Compostela. The area surrounding the park is full of charming shops and great restaurants. Definitely worth a visit!
A great place to sit under oak trees in the cool on hot days with splendid views of the cathedral. Take a coffee and have a chat with someone. Take a look around the rest of the park to, there's a lovely little abandoned chapel of St Susan going to waste here!😕
Located at the end of the Paseo da Ferradura (Horseshoe Walk) within Parque da Alameda, this viewpoint is easy to reach and offers a clear view of the cathedral’s façade and the rooftops of the old town. It’s an ideal spot to capture the moment when the Catedral de Santiago de Compostela turns golden at sunset.
The views of the cathedral are so worth it! Beautiful park, it’s big!! There are so many things to see!
A nice, clean park to have a walk around and enjoy sunny days. Lots of locations to take beautiful fotos and enough places to sit down and relax.
Nice park for local and tourists alike. Good photo spot.

Amazing Place for seeing the Sunset. Also to different day times it’s an amazing Place to visit.
Breathtaking!! I was brought to tears. The legend of Mother Mary arriving in her boat to Muxia shores to encourage St James was displayed beautifully throughout the church. The peace and love felt in this church willl stay with me forever. They also have a gift shop behind the altar with some beautiful gifts.
It is a beautiful building in an amazing environment. But how can it be called a 'Sanctuary' when the doors are always locked. Very sad for those wishing to visit on their pilgrimage. They can at least look through the bars in the entrance doorway at the altar. After a long walk, 'so near but so far'. We loved the area, but a point deducted for the reason above!
I absolutely adore temples at the edge of the earth where the wild ocean meets the human believe in God. Once Ocean itself was one of the multiple gods to ancient people. Unfortunately, the church is not well maintained. For instance, the main part is just a cloth with a print of how it should look like - not sure it this was a renovation, but it look like inability to maintain (probably lack of financing). And the souvenirs shop right behind the main part of the church is a bit weird. I guess shop shouldn’t be there at all…
An very unique location. It is a old and very well kept church. I think mostly for seafarer and the ships. And also a point for pilgrims to Santiago. It was open with some hymns were played from tape. This gives a bit a holy atmosphere. The location has big parking spaces and toilets. Also the view is very good.
An interesting church, facing the ocean and winds. Worth to pay a visit.
An amazing experience. Beautiful Mass
Pros: We went on Sunday morning. There was a liturgy that we were able to hear from the outside, the songs were very beautiful with the landscape of the sea. The view was spectacular. Cons: The environment inside was hostile for travelers (though we were fully covered with clothes) and they were asking for money from every person which was odd.

Spectacular beach in the heart of A Coruña with amazing views. There is a maritime walk from one end to the other (it is the longest one in Europe). There are several areas of the beach that are near rough seas (good for surfing, though). There is a flag system that alerts you to which areas are safe. There are several ways to access the beach, none are wheelchair friendly. Dogs are not allowed in the summer outside of early morning or late afternoon hours.
Nice beach, good views and very clean
Shingle beach but quite nice. Right next to the football stadium. Few nice bars along the beach.
Beautiful beach, friendly birds too! (Or maybe they were after my snacks 👀)
My favourite Beach in the area The beach of Praia de Riazor is a great beach. It has some of the nicest and most spectacular views and the vision of the bay shape is great. It is in the heart of la Coruña so very convenient to go the the shops or restaurants. Beautiful and extremely scenic!
The most iconic beach of the city
Relaxing place to spend the evening. Lovely views and weather ❤️
Beautiful beach just in the city center. Amazing places to be around.

Wow, MPG swept me away! Housed in a stunning old convent, this gem dives deep into Galician life think fishing boats, intricate lacework, and ancient musical instruments that hum with history. The triple helix staircase is a total showstopper, spiraling like something out of a dream. Tickets are €5 (or €2 for students/seniors, free for kids under 18), and trust me, it’s worth every cent. Grab the multimedia guide on their app for a richer experience, especially if Galician isn’t your tongue. Oh, and did you know the Pantheon of Galicia here holds the remains of legendary Galician poet Rosalía de Castro? Don’t skip this soulful journey into Galicia’s heart!
Great insights into the local culture, architecture, and history. The initial areas didn’t have a lot of English descriptions, so bring your translator app if you don’t read Spanish or Gallego.
Well worth a visit. 2e you can't go wrong. Strangely the upper floors have English translation but the entry level doesn't. There is the incredible three stair spiral staircase and an elevated view of the adjacent church. Personally I would have liked to see more about Galician influence on Spain, America and trade
Very extensive collection of artefacts from 1900s about lives of Galician people, also some geology of the area and nice scenic film of the area. Not much in English though apart from interactive section where you can choose from multiple languages. Fascinating triple helix staircase built in C16?
Housed within the Convento de San Domingos de Bonaval, this museum is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the traditions, society, and cultural heritage of Galicia. Its exhibitions explore local customs, crafts, maritime life, and rural culture, making it an essential stop for understanding the region’s identity.
Very good museum to understand Galicia culture. I gained a lot of knowledge about the stone building of the church and the method of farming. If you want to learn more about the people live here, please come. If you want to learn more about the people live here, please come.
This museum is worth a visit. Very nice and informative facts about Galician culture and history. The triple staircase is mind boggling. Is incredibly beautiful and unique in the World.
Diverse collection, mostly in Spanish but English is available. Beautiful old monetary with church.
