(Translated by Google) The weather was bad and it continued to rain, and the walkway was flooded, making it a good idea to wear rain boots, but there was no wind, so I was able to take photos and enjoy the scenery. I hope to go on a sunny day next time. The same platform is used both times. It was cold, but the restrooms and waiting room had cushions thanks to the thoughtfulness of the local people, so I thought it was warm even though it was cold. I don't think I can forget the old accident, so I definitely want to visit again. Nowadays, there are many abandoned lines and stations, but I want them to remain forever.

There is a roadside station next to it, and it is being maintained as a sky station, so you can come by car, park at the roadside station parking lot, take the sky station elevator up to the station, see the iron bridge up close, and see the Sea of Japan. The sidewalks seem to be well maintained, so it seems possible to walk up to the station. The day I visited was a weekday and the weather was bad, so it was just in time for a train bound for Toyooka to arrive, but there was no one else but me, and no one was getting on or off the train. There aren't many trains, but perhaps because of the famous Amarube Bridge, it seems like there are a lot of people inside the station. There's a waiting room, and inside there are travel notebooks. I recommend taking photos from the observation deck at the top, or from the tip or middle of the station. The view was amazing. The Yobe Iron Bridge has been replaced with a concrete bridge, but as you can see in the photo, part of the bridge has been preserved. This time I took the tourist train Ametuchi to Yobe Station. The emerald green sea of the Japan Coast that can be seen from the station is captivatingly beautiful and beyond description. You should definitely visit Yobe Station, a spot with the most breathtaking views of all. Although I can only rate it 5 stars, it is worth 10 stars. You can get to ground level by either walking or taking the elevator. There is a bench made from a reused old railroad bridge on the platform, and the old bridge can still be seen on the way to the roadside station, so you can get a close-up look at it. The station is built on the side of a mountain, and is also known as the "sky station" because of the beautiful view of the sea, mountains, and fishing villages of the San'in region that can be seen from the top of the station. The station itself has been beautifully renovated and is now a cool concrete station. You can access the station by glass elevator or by walking up. If you walk up, the ground is concrete so you're fine, but it's quite steep, so if you have weak legs, it's better to take the elevator up. If you walk down from the Yobe Station platform, you can see the Yobe Iron Bridge up close, which is impressive and very cool❢ Therefore, it's best to take the elevator up and walk down. Also, when you think of Yobe Station, you think of the Yobe Iron Bridge❢ The place to see the Yobe Iron Bridge, the train, and the San'in Coast Geopark all together is on the mountain opposite the platform. If you go up by elevator, you can walk down a little and go under the iron bridge to the other side, so don't worry❢ Please come and see it in time for your train. Addendum → Updated for the first time in 4 years. I went on a nice day in May 2025. The sky and sea were blue and it was nice to be able to see the train. The Yobetsu iron bridge is nice, but I also thought the gentle curve on the way down was nice, surrounded by greenery. A beautiful and noble temple with a long history There are many fusuma (sliding door) paintings by Maruyama Okyo, a painter of the mid-Edo period, and his family of painters. The beauty of the fusuma paintings and the space in each room is amazing. The guided tour is a great way to learn about the temple. From the website Located in Kami-machi, Mikata-gun, Hyogo Prefecture, on the San'in Coast National Park, Daijyo-ji Temple is a temple of the Koyasan Shingon sect, founded by Gyoki Bosatsu in 745. It is known as "Okyo-ji Temple" because of the many paintings on sliding doors by Maruyama Okyo, a painter of the mid-Edo period, and his family.
With the recent progress of Okyo's research, it is said that the space of each room surrounded by the barrier paintings at Daijyo-ji Temple constitutes a three-dimensional mandala, which may have been intended to embody a religious space. In addition to the artistic evaluation of his paintings, Okyo's aspect as a spatial producer is being reevaluated.
This temple is a magnificent and historically significant one, but rather than feeling like a temple, it feels more like an art museum. There are even guides who act almost like curators.
(Translated by Google) It is a famous temple of the Shingon sect, with a history dating back to the Heian period. The stairs leading up from Omotesando are azure giant trees. The roof that extends into the precincts is steeped in history. beautiful. It is said that Okyo Maruyama lived here because of his connection, and many of Maruyama Okyo's paintings on sliding doors remain. Currently, the actual item is being stored in strict storage to prevent deterioration, and the one on display appears to be a digitized copy. But I'm still grateful. . . Please note that an admission fee is required to support the preservation of the fusuma paintings. Other than that, the wood carvings on the transom inside the Sanmon gate are wonderful, and it is rare to see such intricate workmanship. Worth a look. I visited by renting a bicycle from Kasumi Station. It takes less than 15 minutes. Due to the timing of the trains on the San'in Main Line, we were unable to take a closer look, so we only stayed for about 20 minutes. Next time, I'd like to come more slowly, eat the sesame sauce udon, and get a goshuin stamp before heading home. Enshrined on a hilltop in a riverside village in a rural coastal town. A flight of stairs leads to the main gate, guest hall, Kannon Hall, and Yakushi Hall. Temple legend: Founded by Gyoki in 745, the temple enshrines a self-carved Shokannon. The temple is another name for Maruyama Okyo. The guest hall is notable for its sliding screen paintings, and visitors are guided inside after paying the admission fee. As with the museum, photography is prohibited inside, but the book "Daijoji Temple, Maruyama Okyo and His Disciples, edited and written by Sasaki Johei and Sasaki Masako, published by Kokusho Kankokai" is available for purchase at Daijoji Temple, which includes a comprehensive look at all the sliding screen paintings. It can also be viewed online. The main gate has a tiled roof, a hip-and-gable roof, and a flat entrance. The eight-legged gate has a central door and smaller doors on each side. It faces west. Its intricate design is unparalleled in Tajima, and it is packed with carvings. It was created by Nakai Gonji and Tachibana Shoji. Not only dragons but monkeys can also be seen. The joinery is flashy, and the entrance and exit doors are visible three steps ahead. The guest hall is a large structure with a copper roof, single-gabled roof, and flat entrance. The gabled roof also features intricate designs and carvings. The guest hall's partitions are characterized by a three-dimensional mandala, and it is divided into 11 rooms, with two more on the second floor. The view from the north harmonizes beautifully with the garden. The gabled entrance to the guest hall features birds in the sky, lions and bakemono figures on the lintel, and several lions can be seen in the front. Some depictions weave through the waves, some glaring with a strong gaze, and some peeking out from between. The Kannon Hall is built in the Hogyo-zukuri style, with a copper roof, and is three bays at the front and five bays at the sides. It has folding doors with shoji screens at the front, a beach platform, and stone steps. It gives a simple impression, but the thick pillars at the front give it a powerful impression. The principal image is a standing statue of Eleven-Headed Kannon. In its left hand it holds a water jug containing a lotus flower, and its right hand is outstretched in the prayer-mudra mudra. Eleven small faces rest on top of its head, and its expression, with its mouth closed, gives it a dignified appearance. It has a boat-shaped halo and a lotus pedestal that gives a strong impression of lotus petals, but it stands on stone. The Yakushi Hall is built in the irimoya-zukuri style, with a copper roof, and is three bays long with a flat entrance. At the end of the stone steps are folding doors with shoji screens on both sides. The building has a beach floor and is raised one level by stone walls. It is a place with a tranquil atmosphere. The seated statue of Yakushi Nyorai can be seen from the window in the door. The wooden seated statue of Yakushi Nyorai has its right hand raised in the Abhaya mudra, and its left hand is on its knee, holding a medicine jar. It stands high on a lotus pedestal, with a double halo behind it and a calm expression. The lotus petals, saucer, base and frame can be seen, and it is close to the height of the Buddha statue. The bell tower stands one level higher on top of the stone wall, and is gabled and has a tiled roof. There were many sliding door paintings by his disciples. I was glad that we were able to see Okyo's works even though there were only a few on display. The only thing that was unfortunate was that our guide's voice mixed with the voice of the guide from the next group behind us, making it difficult to hear. Also, we had to move to the next work at the same time as the guide, so we couldn't take our time to look at the exhibits. I guess that's the way to avoid crowds. An amazing place by all means. Great scenery and great remanants of the old bridge that fell down. Must visit if you are in Tottori!
I wish they kept more of the old bridge.
Amarube is located in a town of Kami in Kasumi-ku of Mikata District in Hyogo Prefecture. There is a huge railway bridge called Amarube Tekkyo ( Viaduct ) right next to Amarube Station of JR West Sanin Line. The height of the bridge is 41.5 meters off the ground and stretching in 310 meters in length. The original form of steel trestle bridge ( with A-shaped supporting frame ) in symbolic red color was built in 1912, but it was replaced with current form of reinforced bridge made of concrete in 2010 after an unfortunate accident which occurred in 1986 due to a mishandling of command of central station to a conductor of Japan Railway Corporation on a day when a big typhoon hit Japan. There are some remains of its original bridge right next to the current bridge. The background of ocean view offers a great contrast with a bridge together with mountains connected by the bridge with tunnels on both sides. The train stops over on the bridge for passengers allowing time to enjoy the precious view from the bridge. Amarube Sky Station was established in 2013 allowing access for visitors to reach to the top of the bridge to walk on. Sky Station provides an elevator to get to the top. There is a road station where you can rest and eat and enjoy souvenir shopping under the bridge. Amarube is one of the most scenic railroad views in Japan. Trans-word+ : TGM Japan Guide

(^^) It was refreshing. 37°C above ground, about 35°C in Amarube. Then a cool breeze blew, lowering the perceived temperature to about 34°C. Amarube Station was built in a valley created by the ria coastline on the San'in Line of the Japanese National Railways. Amarube Station was built in that valley. A long time ago, there was a major accident. While passing Amarube Station, a sudden! Suddenly! A gust of wind blew, blowing at a speed of 33 seconds per second. The locomotive was blown over by the wind and overturned. One locomotive crew member and five employees of a seafood processing plant that was underneath the overturned vehicle were injured. In light of this accident, a memorial stone was erected. We offer our condolences to those affected by the accident. Amarube Station, with its rich history, has become a tourist destination, helping to revitalize Sakae Town, and it is something we as Hyogo residents can be truly proud of. It's been almost 40 years since I saw the news about a train falling off the bridge when I was in elementary school... It was such shocking news that I still think about it from time to time, which is why I decided to come here this time. I also wanted to bring my eldest son, who is a railway bridge enthusiast, but I never imagined that the new bridge would even have an observation facility called Sky Station, making it a bustling place. And of course, there's a space where you can rewatch the shocking news I saw as a child, and a space that details the changes that have taken place since the old Amarube Railway Bridge was replaced with the new one, so I think it's a great facility. On the day I visited, I happened to be able to see the tourist train Mizukaze up close, and it was a very satisfying experience in many ways. Fortunately, the train was in transit, so there were no passengers, but six people were killed and six others seriously injured, including the conductor, a train attendant, and a factory employee below the bridge where the train hit. It was a truly tragic accident, but as someone with a fear of heights, the sight of this railway bridge on TV at the time was so terrifying that I, a person with a fear of heights, would have no chance of crossing it by train, no matter how safe it was. As someone who gets scared just by looking down at my feet while riding a monorail, this railway bridge, some 45 meters above the ground, is terrifying. And having this accident actually happen has made me even more afraid of heights. I happened to have the opportunity to visit this time, so I stopped by, and a small part of the old bridge remains, giving me an idea of what it was like back then. It would be quite a sight to see in photographs or paintings with the Sea of Japan as a backdrop. It has now been replaced with a concrete bridge, and only three piers of the old bridge remain, along with an observation facility called "Sky Station."

Apparently Tajima beef originates from Muraoka, and there was a meat section selling Tajima beef as well. Seeing things like this makes me seriously want a car refrigerator, but I only have a cooler bag and lots of ice packs, so I gave up on the meat section. It seems they also sell seafood, and they had sweet and sour amago trout. I was a little curious, having just had an amago mountain bowl the other day at Chubu Roadside Station Shizuoka No. 25 Izu Tsukigase, but I figured it was Tajima beef after all, and since I had a light breakfast, I had Tajima beef croquettes instead. I chose Tajima beef hamburgers (3 pieces) as a souvenir. I bought them with the idea that they would stay frozen if I put them in an insulated bag, still in their styrofoam packaging. I got home more than 14 hours later, but it was still in perfect working order. There is also a special feature (?) that is irresistible for giant tree lovers, the large Katsura tree, and it is a place I have always wanted to visit. It's far away, but I couldn't find a place to stay, so I was planning on making a day trip, but I was able to find a cheap inn nearby that included a botanical garden and an overnight stay package🩷 The accommodation fee included the entrance fee to the botanical garden and the lunch box (1,800 yen) at the restaurant, so I was greedy and had cutlet curry. Even wiping your hands is stylish lol. By the way, the admission fee for the dog was also included. It took about an hour just to look around the botanical garden, and I wanted to sit down and have lunch, but it was a bit cold on a windy day. Waike's large wig is mysterious and worth seeing. There is spring water nearby, and you can collect it in a plastic bottle. I don't know much about the taste of the water, but I thought it was soft. It was a holiday and there were a lot of people, so I would like to visit again on weekdays and enjoy the peace and quiet of nature. I think this place is best visited in spring or autumn, when the colors of the leaves, flowers, and grass truly come alive—it’s a beautiful sight that will amaze you. The stream running through the garden is peaceful, cold, and refreshing. Make sure to bring an empty water bottle so you can fill it with fresh water from the 'Katsura' water source. If you forget, you can buy empty bottles or 2L plastic water bags at the shop before entering the garden. When I visited in mid-April, many trees had recently been chopped down, so parts of the area looked a bit messy and bare. There was still some snow left, but only in the upper parts of the garden. If you plan to walk off the main path, I recommend wearing shoes with good grip, as the ground can be slippery with dirt and dry or wet leaves. Dogs are allowed, and there’s a café, a souvenir shop, and toilets available on-site. There’s also plenty of parking space.

The gigantic pillars stand tall inside the dome with an overwhelming presence, and you can see the tassels on the ceiling and the light illuminates them. It's a performance reminiscent of Sagrada Familia, and the tassels themselves are amazing. The ceiling is high and a divine light leaks through. It was early March when there was still snow, and the ceiling space was too wide, making the inside of the building cold and the building spiraling around on a slope. It's such a large and free facility, and there's no way the air conditioning is working, so the inside of the facility is dark. Tadao Ando, who made a name for himself with inorganic concrete, said, What is a wooden structure and what is a dome? ? I was intrigued. The walls inside were concrete. Weren't you thinking about the stump? Because it is a facility related to trees. The inside of the dome is divided into two halves, and there is a passageway running straight through the center from the front of the entrance, and even when viewing the inside of the dome, you have to cross the glass door to go outside and still have a glass door to enter inside, which can be a pain in the cold season. I think so. There are several rooms that look like special classrooms for woodworking, as well as a library material space, which also has many books on Ando architecture. Japanese policy has shed new light on wooden architecture, and famous architect Kengo Kuma has recently created many geometric buildings made of wood. Trees absorb the energy of the place itself and the energy of people, so they somehow feel calm and familiar. This is weak when using thick urethane paint. Dome architecture has a strong presence, and its height creates a sacred space. If you go straight through the corridor that cuts through the facility, you will find a fantastic space of trees and snow, a beautiful forest that will make you want to walk on snowshoes. I had brought a charger just in case, I explained the situation to the staff and asked if I could use their outlet, but they blatantly frowned and, without any explanation, just said, "No!" "My company told me it's not allowed..." I thought there were ways to refuse, since this is customer service. They said, "I can't lend you an outlet, but I'll introduce you to a nearby car shop," and didn't even offer any advice! I thought this staff member was the type who would turn a blind eye if a customer collapsed right in front of them. I've never seen someone so heartless and rude. I was even angry that this was not the way to treat a customer who had even eaten there. If he hated customer service so much, he should just quit. (Other reviews have mentioned their bad attitude.) In the end, I was at a loss as to what to do, as the roadside station attendant was completely unreliable. I calmed down, searched for nearby garages and gas stations on my smartphone, called them, and finally found a gas station that would come to my house with booster cables and an emergency power supply. After a while of waiting, a very kind and pleasant gas station attendant arrived. He quickly connected the cables and power, told me to start the engine, and when I did, the engine started right away, which was a huge relief. I couldn't get home from here without filling up my tank, so I went to the attendant's store, had them fill up, and was able to get home safely. Sky Energy is a very kind and good gas station. It was surprisingly close to the roadside station. Maybe because it was so close? The visit fee and engine start-up fee were only 1,000 yen. I hope this kind of friendly, conscientious store thrives. Revisited Sunday, October 5, 2025 I stopped by Sky Energy to fill up on gas and give my thanks, and then took a restroom break. The men's restroom only had two stalls and didn't even have a washlet, which is common these days. Given the parking lot's size, it wouldn't be able to accommodate a large bus, and it would be a total disaster. My mother said that the women's restroom had a washlet, but she was surprised that the water was cold, not hot. Is it even worth a restroom break? I wonder if they built it with the idea that it would be useful as a place to remove and attach chains? I think I'll try to take my restroom breaks elsewhere next time. Perhaps there aren't many large roadside stations in western Hyogo, as they're lucky they have retail space, which isn't essential (they basically serve as a rest stop, information dissemination, and community collaboration, with local merchandise being one means of community collaboration), but I get the impression that many of them might be a bit disappointing for tourists. My main purpose is the stamp rally, so it doesn't matter to me, so I just quickly stamped my stamp...and judging from the design, this area seems to be bustling with skiers in the winter. There's also a restaurant, but other than the fact that it seems to feature Tajima beef on some of the menu items, it's pretty average. I used to go to the now defunct Mikata Snow Park quite a bit. Parking is 500 yen, which is cheap in Kansai. Good guidance. No toilet washlet. The door has rust. Better to color it with paint. Renting and shopping in the gondola hangar in the dim light was shocking. It would be better to improve the appearance a little, such as separating them with simple partitions, pasting solid boards on the walls, or installing spotlights. The gondola is comfortable. It's rare for a gondola to be allowed to be brought in without a sole cover, so the acrylic windows are covered in scratches. The second ski slope main lift is old, and the seat cushion of the carrier is dirty and sloppy. The backrest is low and it would be dangerous to change it. Even if you are a beginner with a board, it is dangerous to watch as it is relentless and almost does not slow down when descending. It's fun to go anywhere on the course, but it's also quite dangerous. One person fell about 10 meters from the half-cliff next to the lift, halfway to the left of the second lift. It is necessary to stretch ropes and install warning signs before anyone is killed. Is the third lift above still a little new? It might be difficult for beginners because it's not flat after getting off. The park has a good kicker type and a well-maintained jib lane, so it can be used for sneak practice. It would be nice if there was a gentle slope or trail that you could wash down after park, but it would be a waste if there was only a steep slope to the lift. The main slope is wide and slippery. It's pretty steep everywhere, so it might be difficult to bring beginners. It's good that there is a moving belt for kids on the slopes. The roof, which looks like a vegetable cultivation house, is charming. The rest house is old and the toilet is dirty. It needs improvement because it is still the same as the Showa era. I ate the pork bun, but it tasted like a refrigerated food sold at the supermarket. It would be better to stop selling or sell 551. Other than the gondola, the slopes are run by the village and run by Jijibaba, and are Showa-era ski slopes with no glitter. When I went there for the first time in a while, I realized that there weren't many places to sit (compared to other skis), which was a problem for me on short skis. I don't think it's a problem with boards because you can prepare them while sitting on the snow, but it's a pain to attach simple bindings and the like because there are almost no benches. I think you can line up as many as you like near the first lift. Also, once you take the gondola all the way down to the bottom, it's nearly impossible to find food or buy groceries on foot, so you have no choice but to eat at the ski resort's restaurants, even if they are expensive. It seems that there was about 5cm of snowfall after yesterday's packed snow, so the edges are easy to catch, but it feels a little soft. It's quite moist snow. Without sunlight, it's difficult to distinguish between packed and unpacked areas at the top, and there are almost no trees or obstacles, so it's all snow. Once you get over that, I think you'll be fine at any ski resort! 2021/2/10 (Wednesday) First thing in the morning, I was able to ski comfortably on a firm, slightly hard run. It was well maintained and was my favorite ski resort of the season. There was snowfall the day before (the day before?), so the snow quality was good, and the day was sunny and the best day. I'm sure I'll be back. After about 11 o'clock, the run became looser and moister, probably because of the high temperature. First thing in the morning, it seemed like 80-90% of the skiers were senior citizens. (Maybe because it was Wednesday! Senior Day.) After 10 o'clock, the number of snowboarders who looked like students started to increase. There was also a ski training session (for younger elementary school students?), but I think there were less than 20 people in total, so it didn't bother me at all.

It seems that in the past, fish caught at Yoroi Fishing Port were unloaded at Yoroi Station. The atmosphere of that incline remains. Yoroi Station has two platforms, but now only the one on the mountain side is used, and the platform on the sea side has been left as it is as a station with a sea view. To get to the sea side, you need to use a dimly lit tunnel. The blue sea of Yoroi Fishing Port, the cityscape and mountains seen from Yoroi Station are very beautiful, and I think it is probably the second most scenic station after Shimonada Station on the JR Shikoku Yosan Line. Also, local trains stop at Yoroi Station. Even if you're not a train fan, the scene of the train coming out of the tunnel and slowly turning the curve will make you feel like you're watching a scene from a movie live❢ Yoroi Station has been used in the past for the NHK drama series Futari-ikko, the TBS drama Sand Vessel, and posters for the Seishun 18 Ticket. The station has public toilets and public telephones, but no vending machines. If you're coming by car, you can take a minivan up to the front of the station, but there are some spaces that are only wide enough for one car, so be sure to check the passing points before proceeding. Next to Yoroi Station is Yobe Station. It seems there is a route to Yobe Station that you can walk to and over the mountain. Addendum → Updated for the first time in 4 years. I went there on a nice day in May 2025. On this day, carp streamers were hanging at Yoroi Fishing Port, and they were swimming beautifully in the wind from the Sea of Japan. The situation was clearly different from normal tourism. However, the spectacular scenery is not affected by the season or weather. The gray sea and sky were completely different from the blue sea and sky last time, but we spent about an hour waiting for the next train at a literally unmanned station with no one around, and it was a great time. Once again, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to JR West Japan and the local people who maintain and manage this station. thank you. (Translated by Google) I visited for the Kinki Roadside Station Stamp Rally. Hyogo No. 19: Ayu no Sato Yatagawa. As the name suggests, this roadside station promotes sweetfish. As for the roadside station stamp, rather than a stamp stand, it's just casually placed in a corner of the rest area, so it's not very noticeable. There's a character holding what appears to be grilled sweetfish in both hands...and upon closer inspection, I see that she's wearing an apron? It says Ayu no Sato Yatagawa, so it must be this character. I thought her name wasn't set yet, but then the story unfolded and it turns out she's "Tajima Local Moe Character Ayuka." I was surprised to find that she's a character from Tajima, not from this roadside station. The range is surprisingly wide. I thought that sweetfish would be the most popular souvenir, but what I saw in the store was "Yatagawa Miso." I've already got the miso, so I can't buy any now...that's a shame. They were selling "Unknown Stations," a manga (doujinshi) about visiting roadside stations. I've visited around 400 roadside stations in the Kanto, Chubu, and Hokuriku regions, but I never knew such a thing existed until I came here. The complete set is listed as 22 volumes plus a side story, but judging from the labels on the individual sales, it looks like up to volume 25 have been published. I imagine there are a lot of people who enter camping and recreation areas for free, leave ashes, and do whatever they want. This time, I ordered a meal and entered the back of the restaurant, where I found a spacious space. It felt like an entire old house. The pure white ash-covered hearth, the high roof, and the inner room overlooking the bark create a wonderful atmosphere. I was surprised to see that almost all of the books piled high were folklore texts. I ordered tempura soba and sweetfish soba. It took a while to prepare, but since I was enjoying the view, it didn't matter. The soba was, in a word, delicious. The thick, brown buckwheat noodles and the broth were rich and flavorful without being too salty.
