Magens Bay – The Best Beach I’ve Ever Been To, No Contest
Magens Bay isn’t just a beach — it’s the beach you compare all other beaches to for the rest of your life. I’ve been to plenty of great spots, but nothing touches this place. It’s picture-perfect from every angle: turquoise water, soft sand, quiet coves, and mountain views that look like they were Photoshopped.
The Water (aka: Nature’s Giant Infinity Pool)
The water here is unreal — shallow, crystal clear, and ridiculously calm. You can walk out forever and still stand. It’s like the Caribbean is politely easing you into the day instead of trying to knock you over with waves. Perfect for floating, swimming, or just zoning out like you’re in a screensaver.
And on certain days, you even get rainbows arcing over the bay like it’s personally trying to win a beauty pageant. Your pics prove it — this place flexes on every other beach.
Activities
If you want more than just sitting in the water like a human starfish, they’ve got:
Kayak rentals
SUP options
Plenty of calm space to paddle without fighting tides
Ideal for beginners or people (like me) who want to look semi-athletic without actually doing much.
Drinks & Food
The bar & grill on site is exactly what a beach bar should be — easy, chill, and dangerously good.
Your go-tos:
Painkillers (elite tropical drink, no notes)
Bushwackers (basically a boozy milkshake and worth every calorie)
Grab one of each and suddenly your entire life feels like vacation.
Facilities
Public bathrooms, changing areas, and everything you need without feeling like you’re in the middle of nowhere. It’s clean, organized, and way more convenient than most “famous” beaches.
Vibe
Relaxed, peaceful, and never feels overcrowded thanks to the wide shoreline, but when cruise ships are in, the tourists roll in. If you want noise, chaos, vendors, and packed tourist traps… this ain’t it. Magens is where you come to actually unwind.
Magens Bay is the kind of place that makes you consider quitting your job and opening a kayak stand.
Final Verdict
Best beach I’ve ever been to — period.
Perfect water, perfect drinks, perfect setting. If you’re in St. Thomas and skip Magens Bay… that’s a terrible life choice.
