This is a very good cafe. Taking you back to a civilised time. Lovely coffee. Nice food. Great polite service. Will visit again.
Lovely warm welcome at the entrance Lovely traditional afternoon tea served in magnificent 1930's decor staff very friendly & attentive food fresh & delicious all served on China a truly enjoyable experience from start to finish highly recommend we will definitely be returning
If passing through or living in the vicinity this is a must. Located in an art deco theatre this is old world charm for the 21st century. We had very little time as we were heading cross country to the ferry. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was nice and the coffee was good. We had a lovely young waiter who was very attentive.
Nice food. Only sour point was that a member of our party asked about specifics in advance & was told this was no problem. However, when we arrived it was. Also they shut earlier than normal which we were not told about until half way through our dining. So they lost out on extras we would have had in that time. Disappointing for a first visit.😞
Second time having Afternoon Tea here and still great. The staff are amazing. They are welcoming, friendly and attentive. The Afternoon Tea for 2 is tasty and fresh. We also ordered scrambled eggs on toast for our 8month old. He enjoyed it, as did I. It's the best scrambled eggs I've ever had. Came out hot, too, which was even better. Would 100% recommend without a doubt.
This cafe is well talked about and very popular with the locals. It's a hidden gem of Stockport. If you like a Sunday afternoon tea this is the place. Lots of little cakes and good quality tea, the thing to have is the teared plates. But will set you back 15 per person. But well worth it. Little sandwiches. Nice. It's all art deco... so it makes you feel like you should dress up to visit!! Service is quite posh here. Love the 1930 feel.
I treated the price of my meal as a contribution to the upkeep of The Plaza, a place I love. £9:50 for a slice of quiche without much taste (though nice and hot) and a very small salad, more of a garnish as it was mainly a bit of lettuce and one third of à tomato ( covered in mustard dressing....which should have come on the side as I don't like mustard). Not worth the price. , but a worthy cause. Staff very pleasant but after waiting 10 minutes after the meal and trying in vain to gain the attention of our waitress I had to go to the counter to order teas and coffees. I will go again for the ambiance but no more overpriced quiche.
Wonderful Art Deco cafe with good old-fashioned service. Accessible by mobility scooter but don't be surprised when the cosy lift opens sideways on the first floor! Food is good but how could they have run out of rarebit ?!

Independent and guided tours of purpose-built underground tunnel network used as wartime shelters.
Slide 1 of 8
I've been living in Stockport for nearly seven months and had no idea about this place! It’s such a wonderful spot to explore, showcasing old war artifacts and offering a glimpse into how challenging life was for families and soldiers during that time. I visited on Sunday, and the entry process was smooth and hassle-free. It was truly a great experience, and the staff were very friendly. I highly recommend everyone to visit and explore it! Note : Book the tickets in advance Price : £5.5 for adult Details information: The Stockport Air Raid Shelters, located in Stockport, Greater Manchester, are a network of underground tunnels that were built during World War II to protect civilians from air raids. Opened in 1939, they are carved into the sandstone cliffs under Stockport and were designed to provide safe refuge for up to 6,500 people during bombing raids. Key Features: 1. Extensive Tunnels: The shelters extend for nearly a mile and are the largest civilian air raid shelters in Britain. 2. Facilities: The tunnels were equipped with basic amenities, including bunk beds, toilets, a canteen, and a first aid station, making them relatively comfortable for those seeking refuge. 3. Historical Insight: Visitors can see exhibits of wartime memorabilia, including gas masks, uniforms, and household items from the era. The displays provide a vivid insight into life during the war and the resilience of the local community. 4. Preservation: After the war, the shelters were sealed but later reopened as a museum in 1996, allowing visitors to experience a unique piece of history. 5. Guided Tours: The site offers guided tours that delve into the history of the shelters, how they were used, and the stories of those who relied on them. The Stockport Air Raid Shelters are a fascinating destination for history enthusiasts, providing a sobering yet inspiring look at the wartime experiences of ordinary people.
Great experience, hosts are very knowledgeable. If you visit when it is quiet the experience is something else as you have the tunnels to yourself
I visited the shelters to capture content for work. Brian was an excellent host who made the experience both informative and engaging. The shelters are exceptionally well maintained and offer a meaningful way to reflect on our history.
An enjoyable visit, it really gives a feel of what it was like to be down there during the war, with plenty of artefacts from that period still there. I wasn't given an audio guide, so maybe they don't exist now?
It is absolutely worth a visit. We had a good time looking around. It is important to remember the past, and this is a chilling reminder.
I had never heard of this place until recently. Very intuitive place to visit providing an insight and information about how lives would have been saved having access to these shelters. You can find out about sites the enemy had targeted. The shelters do give you a sense of what people had to go through. You can spend an hour here. Staff are very friendly, jovial and have a great sense of humour; especially Roger! Excellent place for a day out. As it is in the centre of town, you can park in any of the paid parking lots in and around the area. Great place for everyone to learn more about the price that has been paid in the past for today’s freedom!
Loved going here and gained some knowledge into the atmosphere and cramped conditions people would have been in under very extreme circumstances in the war. Very handy using hand held electronic guides to give insight into how things were and the staff were lovely and friendly.
Very interesting place to visit. Amazing tunnels and great information about them (not too little, not too much). About an hour, may be bit more. Loved it!

This is my new favourite place! This building and its grounds are absolutely stunning! We arrived around 12pm sunday and there was parking chaos as there isn't many spaces but we got parked in the end (prices in the photo) also note you can pay by phone but i had zero signal. Tickets can be bought at the visitors center to the house £6.50 adult and under 16s free. The staff were lovely. The ladies that greeted us on entry to the house were really welcoming and very lovely. The house is gorgeous, each room beautifully decorated and seeped in history, truly fantastic. The grounds has a playground, duck pond with lots of ducks, a cafe with an ice cream counter (single wafer cone £2.95 or in the visitors center £2 a tub). There are toilets that were very clean. Lots of picturesque places for a picnic
Absolutely amazing place to visit. So much history and things to see. I wouldn't go with kids under 11 as they'll get bored easily if they aren't interested in history.
A Visit to Bramall Hall After a long crawl on the motorway, delayed by an accident, we finally arrived at Bramall Hall, a magnificent black-and-white timber-framed Tudor manor set within 70 acres of sweeping parkland. Once we’d paid the small parking fee, we made our way to the lovely café for a restorative cup of tea and a snack before stepping back in time. Much of the building is covered in scaffolding due to building work, but this does not deter from the great experience once inside. Bramall has a long and fascinating history, first recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 when the Saxon owners, Brin and Hacum, were displaced by Norman overlords. Over the centuries, it passed through the Bromale family and later into the hands of the Davenports around 1400, who left an indelible mark on the estate. Inside the house, every room whispered stories of the families who lived there. In the Solar, much of the original wall painting is currently protected during building work, but one tantalising section remains visible. A digital screen nearby allows visitors to imagine the room as it once was, with richly decorated walls and full of colour. The Neville Room offered another glimpse into the past, with a surviving section of wattle-and-daub wall, hundreds of years old. The real highlight here, though, is a breathtaking Gothic-style credenza, designed by A.W.N. Pugin and crafted by J.G. Crace; a masterpiece of craftsmanship that immediately draws the eye. Upstairs, the Paradise Bedroom revealed more secrets. This was the chamber of Dorothy Davenport, who lived here until her death in 1639 at the age of 77. Beside the fireplace, a hidden priest hole, a reminder of the dangerous religious tensions of the time. The Withdrawing Room was equally impressive, with a striking lime-plaster ceiling and a grand cabinet of unknown origins, but dating from the 17th or 18th century. A short film revealed the painstaking restoration of the ceiling, which is now the room’s crowning glory. Climbing further, we reached Mary Neville’s boudoir, a private retreat filled with quiet charm, the kind of room where one could easily imagine passing long afternoons with books or embroidery. The Davenport Bedroom followed, complete with its own dressing room and washroom, offering a glimpse into the private world of the family. The tour finished in the servants’ quarters, beautifully presented and full of period detail. The kitchen, with its heavy range, stirred particular memories for Tim, it was identical to the one in his childhood home in the old coal board workers’ houses of the northeast. Our Historic Houses membership gave us free entry, but we were struck by the affordability of Bramall Hall at just £6.50 (or £5 for over-60s). It’s the best value of any historic house we’ve visited, especially given the richness of the experience. Before leaving, we gladly added a donation to the collection box, a small token of thanks for such a memorable day.
Amazing place! So well preserved! Learning about the building, all the changes and renovations that were done there, the families who owned the place - felt really eye opening.
A place of great historical interest. There are unique parts of the Manor from the 1400's that are worth a visit on their own, especially if you're interested in historical buildings. There are lovely gardens as well, which I haven't seen due to bad weather. Coupled with the low price for visiting, nice staff, and everything being accessible, it's a great place to visit.
This property is looked after by Stockport County Council and is quite staggering . Its mainly tudor and is free entry if you are a Historic house member. Staff we met were all pleasant. There are info boards and touch screens in each room that shows interesting videos and pertinent info about the items in the room. There is a cafe on site and a large area of parkland . Car park is reasonably small and may get full at weekends. A property of the highest order
Lovely place to wonder around the house maybe under scaffolding but you still get to see how beautiful it is. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the cafe staff were super friendly as well and the price was well worth the visit, even just walking around the garden was worth the visit
Beautiful place lovely house set within lovely grounds. Parking is very limited unfortunately The cafe serves lovely food with friendly staff but is on the small side. This is a very popular place for people to visit so parking is a major issue, an early start or midweek visit when not as busy probably better.

Thank you so very much for our meet and greet with Mojo and Challenger today. It was a pleasure to spend some time with these magnificent animals and their caring , welcoming stable staff. It was a delightful visit all round... And the afternoon tea was delicious. Finally , thank you for the horseshoe. We will treasure it as a great memento of our visit!
I have been waiting for a refund for months now. A terrible customer experience including members of senior management ignoring me. I would recommend thinking hard before working with this organisation.
Had four pints of Dizzy Blonde today in The Manor, St Bees , Cumbria and I just wanted to say thanks for a wonderful pint. Very tasty indeed!
Well worth the visit Gary our tour guide made the tour of this old brewery entertaining and informative. LOTS of stairs so maybe unsuitable for those with mobility issues. The Unicorn Brewery will close soon, Christmas 2023, and so will the tours.
My Son treated me to Robinson's brewery tour yesterday, we did not know the brewery is due to move from this historic site in the next year or two so glad we did it, fabulous experience so much history incorporated with Stockport really interesting. Our guide was Gary a very knowledgeable and humerus man, highly recommended you do it before they move.
This place is utterly amazing!! A proper brewery with a lot of history to it. The building itself is steeped in history and it will be a shame to see it move. Well worth a visit and the beers too are the best, especially from source. I will be coming back and I highly recommend it for the tour and beofre ot moves.
Today I had the absolutely worst experience at the Manahester Airport Pub in my entire catering career. We had originally been led to believe this was a must see place and so were not surprised about being told it would be 45 min to get a seat. However after 90min we had been completely forgotten about and were asked to wait for another 20min! When we did get a seat, the table was still dirty and abandoned with half eaten food from the previous occupants. After being forgotten again we had to chase the door attendant for drinks, then after being forgotten again we had to chase just to place a food order. By this point somebody else had been seated next to us AND served their dinner! When our food did arrive (after a very long wait) it was cold and hard. We asked if we could please have at least our chips redone as these were so cold and hard as to be inedible, in addition to which our order was wrong! After all was said and done we of course very disappointed and upset with this experience. We asked to speak to the manager, when he arrived he was nothing short of rude and aggressive. He offered absolutely no apology and told us that we had been rude, so had been deliberately left to wait so the waitress could complain about us to him, the manager! This was of course a complete lie, because when we asked what we had been rude about, we were told we had been rude to the waitress when ordering drinks - we hadn't spoken to the waitress to order drinks, we had spoken to the door attendant. He then assured us he had personally checked all the food as it came out and knew it to be perfectly fine - now how many managers check every bit of food leaving the kitchen? In short, the planes were of course a good see. But the service there was absolutely shameful and I would encourage anybody to bring their own sandwiches and drink if possible. I certainly will be publishing my own experience further. This is a place that has become fat on its reputation and forgotten about the very people who it is supposed to serve.
I have been trying to find a complaints department about a Robinson pub near me The Chapel House Two Trees Lane Denton But I can not find anything to contact. This is just not acceptable when residents have got to put up with a new landlord playing music from his beer garden to the extent that even with our windows and doors closed and the TV turned up loud we can see still hear it it's now 9.00pm and we have had this all day till 12.00pm tonight. My husband said he thinks he's having a festival in his beer gsrden But we can not relax and just watch our TV. Its absolutely disgusting!!!!!!

Nice area for walk, picnic, and get together. Views are awesome, 3 tracks for walk, including one middle of the lake. One side lake and one side river. Nice view of mountains and forest from parking side of lake. Lot of sitting places. Parking available 0.9 £ per hour, need cash or through App. Need some maintenance and cleaning.
Etherow is a local nature reserve near the village of Romely, near Stockport. It is close to the Goyt Valley and is the starting point for the Goyt Way trail. The River Etherow flows through the park and is the source of the mill pond there. Sat nav Etherow Park will find it. The Park is well signed from the M60 and has ample paid parking (£3.60 for four hours), cash or on line payment. There is a large cafe there and full toilet facilities. Maps show trails to the north and south of the lake there, plus an interesting one along the middle. Unfortunately, the middle one was blocked off at time if visit (March 2025), owing to extensive tree felling which, in turn, prevented access to the southern trail. So it's an out and back trail at the moment but still a very good walk. Out of the park the path is wide and firm all the way up to an impressive Weir. No special clothing needed here, a perfect family walk. From there the trail goes up through the beautiful woodlands of Ernocroft Woods, a good example of mixed woodland. Here it's narrow and rough - and very steep in places, all the way up to the turn around point on Glossop Road. So sturdy footwear is the order of the day, and don't be shy! Take your walking poles! Once at the far side at the Glossop Road end, it is a turn round and back the way you came. So, a walk for everyone, easy first section but a more challenging track if you are feeling brave. Lots of facilities and not too far off the beaten track. Recommend!
Natural beauty spot! Lots of wildlife to view and a lovely maintained garden. Nice walking or running route, car park and cafe at the beginning with public toilets. Great for dog walking, family trip or just getting out.
Lovely place. Lots of different birds to see and here. Easy paths to walk. One path currently closed for maintenance during late April '25 for information. RingGo app for parking (or £1.40 coins for 2 hours or other charges). Lovely ice cream at cafe! Recommend lemon crunch (dog enjoyed his frozzy too!)
Beautiful and great Burgers at the farm at the edge of the park
Etherow country park is a lovely walk with 2 cafes information centre where you can but bird food to feed the wildlife whilst you enjoy the walk and the surroundings
Beautiful park with a lake. Multiple trails. Probably you can spend the whole day. Car parking is not free. However, it's relatively reasonable. I saw many people fishing. You need a licence probably for this. Cafe is there besides the car park.
Lovely park. Beautiful scenery. Mixture of pathways concrete, wooded, mud trails. Lakes are fabulous with loads of wildlife. There is loads closed off due to the bad weather and trees fallen but work is being done to fix these areas.

Stumbled upon this very interesting museum on the hat-making industry in UK by chance. Never thought it used to take so much machinery and effort to make hats. An enriching and educational visit. Highly recommended! Free entry, register online in advance.
Great specialist museum showing the history of hat making from the Middle Ages onwards. The displays include an interesting mix of machinery used as hat- making became mechanised. Highly focused. Excellent displays. Lovely cafe and a museum shop with a good selection of merchandise. You can book onto a guided tour, which I recommend as the guides are knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Thoroughly recommend this museum.
I really like the hat exhibition in this museum. It shows me that hats can also be used to express individual personality. I also like the display boxes with various themes. However, I cannot accept the wrong map marking. In the map of picture1, Taiwan is marked separately instead of being part of China. This will send the wrong message and political stance to young people who come to visit. As a Chinese, I think this is really unacceptable.
Never been before. It is well worth a visit. We went for the guided tour with the very informative Liza Ward. Thank you Liza we really enjoyed our visit.
What a great museum! Fantastic place to explore the local history of the incredible hat making industry. Fun for all the family, with great exhibits and interactives. Check the opening times / days to avoid disappointment.
We've always loved the Hat Works! We've taken our kids and now the grandkids to visit it! It's always interactive and interesting! Now that Arc is part of it it's even more fun! The cafe has some wonderful baked goods and super sweet staff!
Great experience at the museum, there are thousands of hats on display and we even got to try some on, which was really fun. The staff were also super friendly and welcoming. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the pink shopping bag from the gift shop. Unfortunately, it wasn’t waterproof, and when it rained the colour ran and ruined my friend’s clothes. I think it would be worth considering different bags, especially since it rains so often here. Thanks again for a lovely visit!
Don't be fooled... It's free to visit!! (It's only £5 if you want a tour) Me & wife and 1 year old had a great time exploreing the place. It's got 3 floors, top floor is nothing. Middle floor is 100' of hats to see over the years, and a great area to try on funny hats! + Kids play area. Bottom floor is for the older generation with all the machines showing you how they made them. Very interesting.

Lovely canalside walk with locks and aqueduct. Plenty of variety in the scenery and a well maintained towpath.
Attractive location on Peak Forest Canal. Nice walking down the tow path. Marple is a pleasant town with good selection of shops and and parks. The Saturday craft and gift market is worth a visit.
Nice walk out, but there are locks for a reason, so bear in mind it's a steep hill climb
Good cycle from Fairfield, Droylsden. You need a torch for the tunnel and pretty fit for a steep decline. A Memorial park with facilities and local shops close by for refreshments.
Lovely walk 12 locks on one side of the main road .Which went to two aquaduc stunning views
Walking the towpath from the marina at the top of the lock flight, with a possible diversion to see the Oldknowe Lime Kilns site, then continuing down the series of locks as far as Marple Aqueduct, is always a pleasant experience. Just one road to cross - above Marple railway station - which needs care due to busy traffic. During my last walk, I noticed some extensive remedial work being carried out around locks 8 to 6, which necessitated a well-sign-posted diversion. (December 2023). This will certainly improve the amenity in time for next year's season.

We visited for Father’s Day on the Sunday, what a brilliant farm, 4 adults and one child, we all had a fab day! Will definitely be returning throughout the year and events! Thank you!
Value for money easy to reach, ample car parking. Animals looked after with options for interaction and to feed in great condition. Play area is good lots of choice for children under 13yrs, different variety wooden adventure play ground, beach area with toys, food and drinks, stage area, music and covered stage. Indoor play area very good lots of options soft play, role play, trucks and vehicles. You can bring your own food, the food choice is very good and good quality but can be expensive for families. Only issue the footpath not easy to navigate a buggy with an autistic child and dangerous when walking on needs replacing as the stones are to big and a hazard .
Great place to bring the kids. Lots to do and lots of fun. The food isn't expensive but very nice. The staff can't do enough for you and they keep the farm very clean. Lots of animals plenty to keep the kids happy. Wear sensible footwear and buy your tickets in advance.
We had my daughter’s birthday there and we were so happy we chose this as a venue - it was brilliant from start to finish. The lady who showed us around made it so much fun for the kids right from the start - she learnt all the kids names and made my daughter feel really special on her birthday. She transmitted a great love of animals and had actually worked on the farm since she was 14 and now is one of the senior members of staff. There were so many different activities the kids were engaged throughout. We did small animal petting, feeding the larger animals, two goes on the fairground rides, jumping on the giant trampolines, and even soft play. The way the adults went around with them meant that children and adults all got to interact loads. It had it all and will be a birthday that my daughter will cherish forever. Thank you!
Great value for money, food was really nice, lots to do and within good walking distance from each other. Would highly recommend looking forward to going back next year
We’ve attended twice for Halloween now, in 2024 and 2025, and they have both been excellent events. The farm put on lots of activities for kids that are well thought through and are good alternatives to the animal feeding and other facilities always on offer. The numbers of visitors are kept manageable and the on-site staff are very friendly. The tickets are fairly expensive but you get an awful lot for your money if you participate in the organised activities.
We had such a fantastic time at the farm! The staff were amazing — a special mention to Jordan, who was incredibly kind, helpful, and went out of his way to make our visit truly memorable. The facilities were great, and the kids absolutely loved it, even with the torrential rain that day. Highly recommend!
Would definitely visit again, so much to do and staff are really friendly! One thing I would say, it would be a lot more convenient to be able to use the wheelbarrows to take the pumpkins back to the car. The staff gave me one in the end after seeing us struggle to move 5 pumpkins, but we had a pumpkin stole in the process by a family leaving just before us. We informed the staff and were told nothing could be done, and whilst I appreciate it is not the staffs fault, it’s a little disheartening to leave a pumpkin short when we are paying £6 each for them, and it did ruin the experience slightly as I didn’t leave happy. Being able to use the wheelbarrows in the first place could have avoided this.

An amazing small museum filled with incredibly knowledgeable people. You need to pay extra for the cockpit tours but they are very worth it. Lots of interactive parts. Clean and well cared for facilities. Definitely want to come back.
Utterly amazing. A comprehensive history of aviation from its very beginnings right up to the Cold War. Cockpit tours, a Vulcan Bomber, outstanding. Great volunteers, full of knowledge and boundless enthusiasm.
Great afternoon spent exploring this fantastic facility. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. It was wonderful to experience the inside of the cockpits. The items on display are well presented and there is plenty to look at. The cafe does a selection of drinks and sandwiches. Well worth a visit.
This is everything a museum should be. Run by volunteers who are all passionate about aviation. My two children 4 and 5 had an amazing time, sitting at the controls of a real passenger plane, pushing all the buttons and giggling like mad. My young son is Autistic and going anywhere is a real gamble. He was really at home looking at the amazing displays from models of the first wooden aircraft to flying an aircraft simulator. Great interactive displays really bring engineering to life and we're enlightening to see just how much amazing science and technology has been present in UK aviation. The cafe is very reasonably priced and extremely family friendly. The museum is also very accessible for people with mobility issues, although some cockpit tours may not be suitable for wheelchair users it was clear that they had been considered from the outset, with uncluttered floor space and interactive exhibits being step free. Fantastic place and we will definitely be back!
Anyone who is interested in the history of British aviation should visit this remarkable museum. Avro was one of the leading aircraft firms and an important part of the industry of North West England. I particularly recommend the tours of the Vulcan cockpit and Lancaster forward fuselage. The former is an overwhelming experience I found! Packed with artefacts and information and served by enthusiastic well informed and friendly volunteers the museum is a must see!
A great little museum, really well structured with a timeline of Avro aircraft. Friendly staff, café very reasonably priced. This is the closest I've been to a Vulcan since I stood alongside the end of the RAF Finningley runway with my father, circa 1967, watching the awesome beasts perform circuits and bumps.
Went for the Wings and Wheels event. Same entrance fee as any other day. The event included the Lancaster flyover. There were other stalls including food and drink. General public showing their personal classic cars. The staff in the Avto museum are all very friendly and highly knowledgeable.
What an amazing place. We booked a Lancaster tour, which was 2 hours after we arrived. We were wondering how we’d spend that time. Well how wrong were we? There is loads of detailed information, photographs, models, parts and recreations we ran out of time! The Lancaster tour was brilliant and we learned so much more than we believed we knew. Then we did the simulation from real audio footage, which was also fantastic. We had a quick lunch at the cafe and a quick look around the shop because we had so much to fit in. There is lots to see for young and old ! We will definitely go back to see the parts we couldn’t finish as it was near closing time. The volunteers are full of information and always on hand to help.

Well worth a visit. Restored/ preserved house over 3 floors with different rooms presented to reflect different eras. Free audioguide gave information and brought to life with stories to illustrate use of rooms. Accessible with lift/ items to touch/ some braille labels. Could have stayed longer.
Such an amazing historical gem! Was fascinating walking around a house that's stood since 1600s. Ideal for all the family, except really young children.
Lived here all my life and never visited before. Well worth a visit. Great history
I enjoyed this activity. I found it interesting to see how our ancestors used to live. Lot's of information on the history of the house scattered around. Audio recording available for each room. Friendly and helpful staff. Lift access to all three floors. Lovely gift shop. At £5.50 per adult, great value for money. I would recommend.
I think we've been spoilt by all the other old houses we've visited, as we weren't overly enamoured with staircase house. It only took us 15 minutes to walk through the whole thing including writing with feather and ink. The furnishings are very basic. The best bit is probably the basement you do get more of a feel for the place downstairs, maybe its all the moderns bita that throw me off! What was interesting though is the floors and walls that are all wonky, I'm actually amazed its stood the test of time as it has. £5.50 for adults and under 16s are free
Absolutely loved it!! Such history and a self guided hands on tour. The staff were very informative and the depth of knowledge from one gentleman was amazing. Lots of rooms to explore and plenty of historical clothes and artifacts to investigate. Great value and an all round pleasant experience.
it was indeed a lovely place to learn about British history and even a very quaint little place to sit down and just rest. I listen to some music of the 18th century and then sat down and wrote a bit on quilts. It was a truly enlightening experience. The audio guide, however, does indeed need to be upgraded. My audio guide broke down halfway through the door and never worked properly again. Overall, it was a brilliant experience and I would like to come back again with friends.
The place is really nice. Staff really friendly. It's really kid friendly, somthing to do for them in all of the 16 rooms. They give you a little pack for each kid to do on the way round. The audio guide was very informative and had some minor acting in it. If a little boring. 😂 I would recommend a visit if you are old or young or a family with lots of kids as it's quite fun to explore. You can easily kill a hour here. £5 per adult.

A large, clean and well-stocked garden center with a super comfortable restaurant and a fantastic miniature railway for kids and grown-ups alike. We wanted somewhere to eat and stretch our legs after arriving at Manchester Airport and couldn't have done better than find Brookside! The staff were super friendly and the the food was fresh and tasty, with plenty of healthy options. On the way out we took a ride on the garden railway which is well worth a visit in itself! A special mention too for the model shop which has an unbelievable collection of trains, cars and many other model kits - whatever you need they will undoubtedly have!
Lovely garden centre with a unique miniature railway. First class fish/ pond store with amazing knowledge. Friendly cafe with great selection. Quality jams and the like available to purchase along with crafts and homeware. And obviously gardening equipment. Everything is great quality
Lovely place to take the little ones and grab some tasty food. The railway is a great addition
Nice garden centre to look round. The cafe staff are efficient and professional - I was given the wrong meal but they sorted it out straight away no fuss. Vegetarian pasty was tasty (spicy cauliflower). Quite strong decaf latte. Popular with families with young kids so it was quite noisy at lunchtime. Lots of toiletry gifts (lip balms, hand creams etc), Wrendale (note books, socks, key chains, bags, toys, aprons, tea towels), greeting cards, Mrs Bridges jams and plenty of cakes. Miniature railway outside. Plenty of free parking.
Bought some of these lovely solar lights and couldn’t wait for them to charge up. When they did, they are SO GOOD. They look very pretty. Very glad I bought them from Brookside for £10 as B&Q put them up to £15 !! Also had some excellent Gluten free coffee & walnut cake from the café. A great trip all round.
Fantastic place for everyone. Lots of fun for kids on the miniature train, train shop, garden centre, cafe and kids can watch the train going round around the garden centre. Lovely day out.
Lovely garden centre with nice coffee shop. Cakes are very tasty and breakfast brioche rolls are delicious. Coffee and cakes reasonably priced. Variety of products in garden centre, all nicely laid out with plenty of space to move around. Large outdoor area for plants too. Miniature railway for children here also (note not open all the time). Nice place to visit or stop at if passing through.
Easy to find, great parking. A lovely train for the kiddies with a train based gift shop. The garden centre is huge and has all you could want and more. Tropical fish, Venus fly traps, sundials - you name it. Highly recommended. Also, great staff and a restaurant.

I came to Grosvenor casino today... Exceptionally nice staff and managers. Everyone I spoke to or interacted with was fantastic... As always I try never to included people in my photos but there was a lot of people in enjoying the facilities, aswell as the live sports showing on multiple screens Reception staff were friendly and very welcoming and the whole venue was spotlessly clean from top to bottom. Thank you to Simon / Steve and the team here at Grosvenor Stockport... Thank you we had a really enjoyable visit 🙂
The staff at this establishment are some of the best I've come across. Hostess with the mostess by far. One individual made themselves very unwelcome but the staff handled the situation so professionally and calmly. I found myself in a panic situation but again the staff made up for this and more and it was very much appreciated..... Great at their jobs and highly recommend this place for a safe and enjoyable night out. Thanks again
Staff are incredibly rude, won’t be going back! I had to take my car to the garage so thought I’d pop into the casino. It says open at 10am but as I approached the door at 11.50am a very rude woman shouted its not open til 12 with a look of utter disgust! The woman behind the counter when we went in was rude and asked what we wanted when we walked in then a woman who I assume was the manager was also rude and spoke to me like sh1t because the cash out machine had ran out of money! I spend a lot of time in other grosvenor casinos and I’ve never been made to feel so bad in any other. If I didn’t walk out £500+ up I’d be making a formal complaint…..lol
Wonderfully friendly staff, especially Richard the slot attendant
I visit this establishment regularly The bar staff are amazing, and the dealers are always friendly aswell This is a lovely place too visit and I highlight recommend this place 😊
This casino is a little small compared so some of the big complexes but that only adds to the community feel of the place. The staff are friendly and treat you really well. The restaurant is lovely too. There always seems to be good events happening with show nights and offers on meals.
Found it better than Parrswood as it wasn't really busy. Soft drinks free. Managed to go in as guests. Needed ID for my 19 year old. Best to bring it with you in case the staff ask their age. Staff friendly. Would go again. Have machines or can stand at the tables
My husband and I had the Rum and Red deal which was excellent quality, presentation top marks and excellent value for money £10. Included succulent steak with all the trimmings and a very nice glass of Red Wine. Beats going to an expensive restaurant when you can have an excellent meal for half the price. Fab that the restaurant has returned as always had a brilliant reputation The staff are very attentive and a pleasure to be around. We would recommended and certainly return !!

I visited Chads Theatre for the first time to see , the Univited Guest on the Last Night .. in the Auditorium.. It was an Amazing performance 👏 🙌 .. by all the cast involved .. The Seats in the Auditorium are so Comfortable, Soft Cushioning, firm back .. During the intervals the bar and reception is so lovely to respite for refreshments.. and chat .. do come and enjoy a theatre show .. Next I'm seeing is Sense & Sensibility 😊 ... Check out Chad's on Facebook !
Went to see a stage play The Father. Tremendous show, very well presented. Lovely theatre. Highly recommended.
Great evening at Chad's Theatre last Monday... lovely friendly staff, toilets clean today and they make a great cup of tea. The play was funny and fantastic actors that really bought the play to life
Good theatre of around 200 seats. Unusually for a venue like this was not completely roasting inside the auditorium. Seating was slightly uncomfortable. Bar was cheap and stocked 2 local ales but otherwise had the usual fare. Car parking is free in the evening at the municipal car park across the road. Their own one is very tight.
A fantastic, high quality local theatre with exceptional front of house staff and service. Visited for the first time to watch The Hollow (great fun). Surprised at how comfortable and roomy the seats were and how well organised and friendly everything was. The CHADS team could teach bigger venues a thing or two about how to deliver a great customer experience. Well done to the whole team. Will definitely return.
Absolutely superb performance of Sense and Sensibility. The staff are all very welcoming.
Visited to choose fancy dress outfits for the Maggie costume Ball next weekend. Had my wife and daughter with us to help choose the most ridiculous outfits. Mine won, look out for pictures at the Lowry Hotel. Mine has a hat too 😂😂😂. The helpers were funny, had great ideas, especially for me, picked outfits in an hour but had set two aside, more time to drink the Guinness at the Ireland/England 6Nations (NOT 7 Nation As in Army!!) Recommend the outfits that cost £30/day which is very cheap.
Everything about CHADS is excellent. Friendly welcome, good bar, comfortable seats and always extremely impressive acting. We've seen numerous different productions and the latest one, Educating Rita, was, as usual, superb. All those who contribute to this theatre company deserve great credit.

Held our wedding at the Roman Lakes 2 weeks ago and we couldn't be happier! Everything was organised perfectly in detail and beyond our expectations, Rachel and her family decorated the venue beautifully and made sure everything run smoothly, all the stuff were friendly with big smiles 😊. The outdoors space by the lake is just amazing and all our guests loved it! Thank you again Rachel and family xx Ben and Iris
The lakes and the Riverside walk to the waterfall was very pretty and lovely. The lake (only open last Sunday of the month 10am-3pm) and cafe is accessible, the Riverside walk less so, although there is a dirt road that maybe is, alongside the river. Smashing cafe with live music and home made cakes, soup etc. Unisex toilets. Plenty of parking, though the track down to it is a bit hazardous to suspension! Well worth the trip though. The viaduct is fabulous too.
It wasn't open but that was my fault for not paying attention to the fact that it has open days every last Sunday of the month, otherwise it's all locked up. Also a word of caution to drivers of non 4 wheel drive cars.. Google maps will take you there but the last few miles is track that is deeply pitted. Otherwise it looks lovely but I won't be returning by car!
Nice walk along the river with lots to see, because of the dry weather there was lots os lime dust when cars go past.
Just a quick note for anyone planning to visit: It isn’t open every Sunday, only on "the last Sunday of each month". Unfortunately, we missed it this time, but the view from outside the gate is still wonderful. I’ll definitely visit again!
When the Roman lakes were accessible for the public and it didn't have gates it was a beautiful and scenic spot. After the lockdown, the small cafe/restaurant in the area that organizes events every third Sunday of the month took the initiative and put up gates, which they close at 3pm and so those beautiful lakes are not accessible to the public, anymore. But it is only accessible once a month, on the last Sunday of the month. ▪︎ Who took the initiative to put up gates in a public space and make it inaccessible to the public during the last three years?
Nice place to stop by and slow down, we had some takeaway snacks from the tearooms which were nice (the egg and bacon roll was particularly appreciated in the cold!) The road to get here is a little bumpy but there is a car park. You can access the mill excavation area and garden house nearby from here.
Another beautiful Marple attraction. Beautiful lake and surroundings. Great little tea room and pretty seating areas. Clean tidy and pretty little toilet block with nice little wild flower vases. It's a shame its not open more. They seem to do tea dances and evening events more and more but not open often during the day. Weve been down a few times and its been closed. Check website or Facebook page if youre planning a visit. Also available for private venue hire for all your events.

This is my first visit and I liked the shop. They have many beautiful items and reasonable prices and nice discounts. The café is beautiful and quiet and the food was delicious. I loved the place and I will return to visit it.🥰🥰
Stopped by for a visit on my travels from Canada as it was recommended by a friend. Had the absolute best experience at the little cafe on the ground floor. The manager Karen and her staff are wonderful, so polite and friendly, made me feel like I was at home ordering a coffee from my regular spot. The menu is great and the gluten free options are to die for! Will definitely be back (a few times) before my travels home. Thank you Karen and staff, you were all amazing and loved to see the great connection between the workers!
Wide range of designer clothes and household goods in this former mill with a lift and a cafe on both floors. Clothes upstairs and household goods downstairs. Men and women’s designer clothing cheaper than from designer stores, but dearer than non-designer clothes. Disabled parking bays immediately outside main entrance.
Great shopping experience, lots of choice, spacious. Food and drink excellent. Certainly worth a visit.
Drove 30 miles from Wigan after reading the reviews. It's not as big as bygone times or botany bay but it's a good place to shop if you like clothes and random items. I got myself a stunning mirror from the furniture section. Cafe was a little on the expensive side but the food was ok. All in all a pleasant experience. Easy parking and friendly staff.
Wide variety of clothing, shoes, household objects, very clean inside, cafe is nice & reasonable prices.
Broadstone Mill Shopping Outlet in Stockport is a shopaholic's paradise! With its diverse range of stores, you'll find everything from fashion and homeware to electronics and furniture. The outlet offers great deals, ensuring you'll leave with a smile on your face and a bag full of goodies. Happy shopping!
Please give me a like if helpful👍 This is a huge old mill converted into a shopping destination. The initial impression is that the whole mill is for shopping but it isn't as other businesses also occupy the building and so the shopping part is much smaller than you might expect and only on two floors. Nevertheless there is a lot of choice here with a bit of everything and some excellent bargains. This is a place for the ladies with only a small selection for men. Great place to shop for gifts. Massive car park and easy to reach.

Beautiful park and well cared. We visited historical building, easy to walk to nearby Vernon Park. Bonus there are blossoms along the pavement walk🌸❣️
Beautiful park and grounds adjoining Vernon Park which has a nice cafe with a great view point of the surrounding parkland. Great for walking running and dog walking.
Haven't been here for years. Met a friend, we walked her dog around the park while the kids played in the fenced off playground. Lots of paths to follow, there's a cafe on site and an ice cream van passed us, driving into the park as we were leaving. Lovely park, car park from Turncroft Ln is quite small though.
This nature park at Stockport should be visited in cool weather or anytime the day. Interesting only for nature lovers. Having said if you are happy to walk around by yourself or with family along side the bank of river Goyt that is also fine - Natural enclosures which are well-marked. There is obviously also a lot of plant life but for me the river was more interesting.
Beautiful park for dog walking and large open spaces for playing games with children...when it's not to wet 😬. Great walks for the desirable down to the river for those who fancy the trek down the path 😁.
I had a great walk around Woodbank and Vernon Park and Gardens. Walked down the trail to the river Goyt and waterfall. Had a nice bacon barm from the cafe serving take away. Nice day out. I forgot there is sure a beautiful place just outside the centre of Stockport we can enjoy for free.
Great park with lots of paths for exploring. River runs through it. Lots to see and explore. Plenty of benches but could do with more bins. Lots of beautiful flowers. Great place for children and dogs.
Gorgeous and well cared for park with a good range of walks, the park includes a lawned area, woodland, beautiful reservoir and landscaped gardens. There is a cafe within the park (closes at 4pm) and two car parks, both are free and there is no closing time for these. This really is a picturesque pocket of nature :)
