She gave us not only her opinions but even was talking about why what is believed to be the reason why or why not they did happen, even sighting a scientific journal- this girl knows her stuff! What was supposed to be a 30 minute tour ended up being almost an hour and half bc she was so receptive with letting us ask her questions. And the way she delivered said information was so engaging. This woman was a real gem to this whole experience for me.

A big barn with an antique car and indoor bathrooms (clean!), community gardens, a little free library. Hiking trails across the street. You can walk to Glen Magna to see the amazing gardens. Speaking of which, the grounds are impeccably kept up, there are flowers galore, no weeds or trash anywhere! We noticed that a lot of the flowers and plantings are native species. Danvers Recreation runs programs at Endicott Park- yoga, camps, etc. It costs $4 per car for non-residents to park in this park. Like I said, it’s the best park. A must see! Luogo affascinante e iconico di Salem, ma purtroppo l’attrazione è risultata praticamente impossibile da visitare. I biglietti vengono messi in vendita solo dalle 8:00 alle 8:10 del mattino e sono talmente pochi che, anche soggiornando a Salem per 4 giorni, non sono mai riuscito ad acquistarli. Nota negativa anche per il personale: la signora all’ingresso è stata scorbutica, e quando ho provato a spiegare la difficoltà nella prenotazione mi ha liquidato in modo sbrigativo e poco cortese. Peccato, perché la casa in sé meriterebbe molto di più.

While it was smaller than I thought it would be it was nice that you can interact with the small portion of the original structure that is still standing. La parola museo in Europa rappresenta tutt'altro. Non aspettatevi reperti storici ma neanche spettacoli interattivi con personaggi in carne ed ossa. Inoltre la sala era affollata ed era impossibile osservare le scene dietro le proprie spalle. Avrei preferito spendere quei soldi in souvenir. Suggerisco al 'teatro museo' di dotarsi di traduzione in altre lingue o brochure dove poter seguire il racconto.

La gestione è alquanto discutibile, sia per gli orari che non collimano con la prenotazione obbligatoria, sia per lo sviluppo della visita, che dopo una prima parte di gruppo necessita di uno sdoppiamento in due sottogruppi, lasciandone uno in attesa nel negozio del museo. È necessario prenotare lo stesso giorno della visita, pertanto spesso già di primo mattino non si trovano accessi. Organizzazione da rivedere.

Non lo classificherei neanche come museo. La prima sala è una sorta di teatro, dove una voce narrante ripercorre le vicende avvenute a Salem nel 1692 usando vari diorami e statue in cera. L'altro piano è anche peggio, ci sono alcuni poster, piante secche e una scala temporale che ripercorre la storia della stregoneria. Costo del biglietto decisamente sproporzionato (17.5$). Da evitare, scattate solo una foto davanti all'edificio e passate oltre.

All’interno non pensate di trovare molto. Ciò che si vede è solamente una rappresentazione con statue, del periodo dell’ inquisizione. Non aspettatevi un vero e proprio museo. Per completare la vostra visita a Salem, può andare a bene ma senza troppe aspettative perché rimarresti delusi. Lo shop è una vera e propria cinesata. Va bene per acquistare qualcosa per Halloween da portare a casa.

Non è un museo, viene raccontata la caccia alle streghe da una voce guida ( in inglese) in una stanza semibuia, vi fanno vedere dei manichini e voi siete seduti su degli sgabelli. Non c'è nulla in termini di documenti manoscritti o testimonianze di qualunque genere, alla fine si passa dallo store... non ne vale la pena bocciato.

Museo che vale assolutamente la pena di visitare perché è molto bello dopo tevis architettonico ed offre degli interessanti spunti sulla storia di Salem dei rapporti commerciali con l'oriente in particolare con il Giappone e la Cina. Notevole anche la sezione dedicata agli animali

We walked around outside for a bit and decided it was time for a late lunch. Overall it was a nice experience. All the rangers we spoke too at each of the sites were great and since many of the places were closed, we would visit again to try and hit more of the sites. Same goes for Salem in general. We only had enough time in our road trip for half a day here and that was just not enough to see everything we wanted to.

I hope that other cities look to Salem’s work here and try something similar. It honors the hard working people of this community! One of my favorite murals included a quote from an artist who said they painted what they wanted in their childhood: a neighborhood with a playground. Wow. Loved it.
