There’s also benches and picnic tables and nice views (especially if your at the top of the hill that parks on). The trails are really well maintained, there’s a big circle trail that’s partially smooth concrete and partially ‘nature’ (which just means hard packed dirt, rocks, and roots mostly through the trees) and the concrete trail continues for miles outside of the park so if you want to bike, skate, scooter, blade, run, or whatever you’ll grab plenty of trail to do it on. Campers cannot access a dumpster after these hours though and I think that’s what’s attracting the amount of skunks everywhere. The pool closes between 2 and 3 pm for lifeguard lunch and trainings. Of the many campgrounds and camp resorts I’ve stayed at, this is definitely not the norm and I was pretty surprised to find after hauling my medically complex infant and all her gear all the way to the pool on a 90 degree day that we only had 10 minutes to swim before the pool closed for an hour. There is one small sign informing campers of this, however it’s next to a bunch of other signage so it’s easy to miss. It’s not fun or easy to unpack everything in a nice shaded spot only to pack it back up ten minutes later and pray we get our spot back when the pool reopens. Plus from 2-3pm is the hottest time of day- it’s wild to do lifeguard training during a time when most campers would be looking for a relief from the heat when most lifeguard training in other places is done in the morning. THE 24/7 FREIGHT TRAIN not only blows it's horn every time it goes by but if you have a site anywhere near the tracks, it will rattle the whole ground. Better to be as far as you can from the tracks. Besides the train, be prepared for low flying helicopters and constant road noise including sirens. SKUNKS terrorize the entire campground. They have sprayed all over (campers stuff, dogs, etc). Don't leave any food (including dog food) out. No Garbage Cans! You have to leave bagged garbage out for them to pick up at some point. This also creates a great opportunity for the skunk family to come tear open the garbage bags. This also makes picking up after your dog a real treat since you have to bring the bagged poop back to your campsite (which most campers just don't pick up after their dogs since there's no where to throw it out).
