It's close to a bus line (the 5) that goes to Old San Juan, and it's a short Uber ride to everything. There are a lot of restaurants nearby. A Supermax grocery store is about a 15-minute walk away. There's no secure luggage storage, but there's a corner in the kitchen where you can store a bag if you arrive early or need to leave after checkout, and it felt safe to me. Upon arrival for 2 nights the door to our shared women’s room was never locked, the AC was not working, I had a single sheet to sleep on no towel or blanket of any sort, the room was infested with roaches and looked like it had never been cleaned before. Then the next day we went out on the town came back to used feminine products all over the bathroom, clogged toilet that had overflowed into the floor, and various bodily fluids (blood, used condoms). Mind you this is a ALL female dorm. My things were taken from my top bunk and slung all over the FILTHY FLOOR, and management did not care in the slightest. I immediately booked us an Airbnb and told management we were leaving and the reasoning above. When contacting management he 1. Accused us of lying. 2. Refused a refund. 3. Refused any sort of apology for the quality of our visit. This experience will be going beyond a Google review as we are reporting this incident to institutions that will handle this. Do not stay here, this place is the equivalent of a homeless shelter and I think a homeless shelter would have better quality to be honest.

While that is not the hostels fault, they did nothing to help me. They didn’t remove the man, say anything to him, or accomodate me in another room. They gave me no option but to either risk my safety or leave, and they did not refund me any of the money for what I booked. Also the place reeked of B.O. I have stayed in plenty of hostels but I’ve never seen one that blatantly didn’t care about safety, was gross and had horrible costumer service. I’d give it 0 stars if I could.

Millions of termites were everywhere: in my bags, on the beds, covering the floor, flying at me from all directions. When I opened the door, half of them swarmed into the hallway taking over both spaces for quite a while. After they finally cleared out, they left behind a mess of wings and carcasses. I contacted the hostel and got no reply. Three other guests told me this happens regularly and the owner blocks or ghosts anyone who complains or asks for a refund. I even have audio of them saying the owner said "That's your problem, not mine" in videos I took. When I asked why they were still staying there they said they couldn’t afford to leave. Most guests don’t speak up unfortunately. But I’m more than willing to expose how the hostel takes advantage of its guests and hides behind 'kind' automated messages. Booking.com, where I booked, only heard from the hostel after I opened an investigation with them. That’s when they responded with a string of fake excuses implying I didn’t know anything about termites, tropical climates, or San Juan. I have vast experience with all three and never experienced anything like this. They said they’d issue a refund but based on other reviews I’ll have to keep fighting until I get it. And I will. This place needs new ownership that actually cares about its property and guests. I do not recommend staying here.

When it rains, it's leaky and the carpet is wet for days and breeding grounds for mosquitoes. They will eat you alive, other hostels don't have this mosquito problem. 3. The manager Carlos, walks around everyday and don't even expect a smile. He doesn't even make an eye contact, same goes to their staff who are young women volunteers (they don't get paid, free bed) from Europe. What bothered me more was the electric situation. The shower water (single temperature) is heated by a single shower head heating unit that plugs into an outlet a few feet from the shower. Maybe that’s okay in principle, but I was disturbed to see the plug holes were partially melted out of the socket. Something isn’t right or safe with that wiring. It was hot and none of the public areas were air conditioned, so there was no sense of potential to make new friends in this hostel. The other guests didn’t feel like travelers. The gentleman hosting seemed nice, but he spoke no English and it certainly didn’t feel like he was going to help with any community building. The sitting area on the second floor was positioned so that any conversations there would echo throughout the building. There’s another area on the roof that has potential to be a neat hangout and useful kitchen space, but it’s so broken and cluttered that it’s not appealing. When using that sink, the water pressure causes one handle to fly off completely unless you hold it in place to keep water going through the right channels. However if that’s a problem for you then I would recommend looking into booking a room with a/c. I’m sure they cost more but I think a/c in a place like this makes such a difference. Otherwise, the bed was fine and springy. They supplied me with white sheets (no comforter, which is fine considering the temperature anyway) and two pillows. No tv at least in my room. I think this room was a great value and served its purpose. The staff were very kind as well. For the most part, we all understood the assignment and kept our voices low, trying not to make unnecessary noises late at night when we came back from parties and other activities. If you are a light sleeper, a hostel is probably not a good choice in general. I consider myself a light sleeper, but I was so tired out from the things that I do during the day that I just knocked out right away. The bed is comfortable, and you get a privacy curtain. The room AC can get cold, so you would need some extra layers. You pay $10 for the shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, towel, and blanket. You keep the blanket; however, they did take my towel while cleaning. I asked for a second towel, and they provided it free of charge. The locker is small and won't even fit a suitcase or carry-on. It's spacious enough for my small backpack and other stuff. The hostel is located in an okay area. You can call it the neighborhood or the hood. Yet, I didn't find it to be unsafe in a way that I had to clutch my purse or anything like that. (If you have ever been to certain parts in Brooklyn NY, or East NY, this is quite safe to me.) I was outside at 3 AM talking to the bartender, Jesse, from the bar across the hostel, and others who work there. They were friendly people and told me more about the area. There's also a little cafe/booth across from it; there was music, and the owner recommended a dancing place in San Juan. There is a club around the block; it can get loud, but it didn't bother me much. Lastly, I think its location is convenient; it's within walking distance of many attractions, has beautiful beach views nearby, restaurants, and is 20 minutes from Plaza Colón. I would definitely come back for another stay if I come to Old San Juan.

The hotel is definitely made for those who are friendly, with the expansive gorgeous communal lounge area, but my Fiancé and I are not friendly, so we didn't spend much time there. The free coffee was good, but I feel for the price of the hotel breakfast should be included. Please note that the outdoor areas are best enjoyed in the daytime, as the mosquitos are very serious when it gets dark outside, unfortunately I got a bite or two using the outdoor restroom. I feel some sort of citronella diffuser really would've helped us enjoy the outdoor patio. We never had issues with parking. Our worst thing about the hotel is the random fee that was added per day after booking! It was completely unexplained and added on at checkout, I believe it was $60 per day? It upped the price of the hotel astronomically and I still don't know what it was for and why it wasn't apart of the advertised room price. It made the room almost out of our budget, but we fell in love with the aesthetic and decided to stay there anyways. Final notes would be a clearer price when booking, citronella diffusers on the patio, and I do very much feel that for the price of our stay, breakfast should have been included. I first discovered this hotel through social media, and as my mom is pescatarian I had been wanting to check it out with her since they have a vegetarian based kitchen. We stayed here as part of a family girls trip for my mom's 60th birthday. There were four of us ages ranging 20s-80s. 2 of us stayed in the Duna Suite, and 2 of us stayed in the Traveler Room. Both rooms were beautifully curated, picturesque, and comfortable. In the Duna Suite, we particularly loved the deep stone soaking tub, hammock, and sitting area, and in the Traveler Room we loved the connected patio with sitting area and hammock as well. They also left a sweet birthday note and bottle of sparkling wine in mom's room as a surprise, which was such a thoughtful and meaningful touch! The hotel is located in Ocean Park, and is convenient for walking to restaurants and the beach. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. My mom was able to speak to the chef in the morning for breakfast and enjoyed her conversation with him. The food, particularly the blueberry pancakes, was heavenly! I also loved the artisanal shop and even ordered a couple of items when I returned home. I wish we had more time here, but it was a beautiful way to start our Puerto Rican adventure. San Felipe del morto e' una fortezza realizzata nel XVI sull'isola di San Juan di Porto Rico.Fu' costruita per difendere la baia di San Juan dagli attacchi via mare.Dal 1983 è stata nominata patrimonio mondiale dell'umanità dell'UNESCO.

E' un forte come tanti altri se ne trovano in giro per il Mondo. Di interessante secondo me ha l'aspetto storico e la ricostruzione interna che ne è stata fatta ed inoltre se viaggiate con bambini è un modo per rendergli la passeggiata per la cittadina interessante. Il forte serviva ai coloni spagnoli per difendere le coste dall'arrivo dei pirati e degli invasori ed ha una bellissima spianata all'ingresso (che nasceva proprio per motivi di difesa bellica) utilizzata oggi per far volare gli aquiloni. Se decidete di andare, preparatevi ad affrontare un bel po di scalini!! Il biglietto intero costa 5$, bambini fino a 12 anni Free, e da diritto entro 7gg di visitare gratuitamente anche al "Balneario El Escambrón".

I ended up paying over 800 more than what the flight and 1 night stay here should have been if I booked direct. That company booked 2 people for one bed in the hostel side of this property so when they saw it come thru they automatically canceled the booking because you have to book 1 bed per person in a hostel you can not book 2 people for 1 bed. They are twin sized beds and the third party company never bothered informing me or rebooking another hotel or this place the correct way so we don't find out until we get all the way to the hostel and they helped as much as they could but they had no availability so we had no bed to sleep in due to that third party company. But the front desk men all tried to help as best as they could. It's within walking distance of the beach i would stay here next time I visit Puerto Rico but buyer beware book it directly thru them yourself don't use any third party.
