I told him that the only reason we ate them was because the elusive manager never appeared, and we’d already waited an hour and ten minutes for the food to arrive. Sadly, this experience has put me off returning, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a decent meal and some reasonable treatment in Byron.

(Originale) We attended on the Sunday evening (about 6ish) of October long weekend. A little clumsy to navigate to as you need to be buzzed up to the bar by reception. Look and vibe was very cool. It’s quite a small space but that added to the intimacy which was nice. Cocktails were tasty and service was as good as could be managed given the bar was at least 4 deep the whole hour we were there. Here’s the kicker - I find it horrifying seeing written on the menu “this is an open bar so if there’s something you like, challenge our bar tenders and ask them to make it” yet management have chosen to understaff on arguably one of the busiest long weekends of the year with seemingly one guy capable of making cocktails and one woman cleaning and only pouring beer/wine. If you want to charge premium prices for a bar at a premium boutique hotel/bar, you HAVE to support your staff to deliver that experience: don’t overwork them, and stop understaffing! This is nothing to do with the staff on the day (specially the cocktail guy, he was going as fast as humanly possible but was absolutely knackered) and all to do with management understaffing for what I imagine to be cost saving measures. Adding insult to injury I believe I witnessed one of the managers dining with friends casually while his two staff were being absolutely flogged and from discussions I had, it had been that busy all day. Not good enough, do better to support your staff otherwise I’m certain you won’t be able to keep them for long.
