My eldest son ordered Beef Sifado and a huge lump of beef came out-he said it was tasty but definitely not the beef stew he was expecting. My youngest son ordered the sea bass which, he said, was dry and more like a child's portion. He said he couldn't taste the lemon sauce that was supposed to be on it. Marcello helped to accommodate the menu to our taste. One of us selected the lasagna from the pasta menu to which was thoroughly enjoyed, the flavours coming through the sauces making it very hearty. I decided to chose from the 2 course chefs special selection starting with the Buratta Salad, the cheese was so creamy and moreish and for my main was the steak cooked medium rare with the Madeira sauce which was absolutely amazing the flavours were balanced perfectly and the steak was cooked to perfection. They were traveling on the next day to Rhyl to see Elvis (he was very good apparently). There was a bit of confusion when they first arrived with the change of ownership of the accommodation where they were staying. I wasn't made aware and it did cause a bit of confusion as the name had changed (without a paddle). The accomodation was nice, a bit dated but fine Ma & Pa loved their evening meal and two bottles of red. The restaurant was busy which is always a good sign. The Welsh breakfast the next morning I am told was extremely good too. The chef was going to show my ma a way of preparing some dish but then the restaurant became busy once more. All in all a wonderful experience for them with some class food and nice and friendly staff. A shout must go out to Hester for helping with this and letting me pay after the event. Very trusting. There was just a bit of confusion with the bill due to new members of staff and change of ownership but all sorted now. I do think the £6 per person breakfast voucher is a bit tight judging what £6 actually buys. I can't wait to visit myself for a few nights when we do a spot of travelling on my motorbike. Just hope they can cater for the funny one!

The poppadoms were excellent too as not greasy but crispy & came with onions, mango, lime pickle & a spicy red one 😋 I have to say it was one of the best Indian meals I've ever had, I really couldn't fault it at all, I wish I lived local to it 👌 The staff are wonderful & extremely helpful, they have been in business for 45 years which says everything 😍

The staff were all super friendly and welcoming. It’s got a big car park and a lovely outside area which is ideal on a dry day because the view is spectacular. We had tea here as well and the food was amazing, proper home cooked and fresh, with plenty to choose from and big hearty portions. The Jewell in the crown has to be Anne the landlady, who is also responsible for all of that home cooked food (wish we’d had the pie as many recommend that!) The staff seemed very friendly and sociable. The atmosphere seemed very community-orientated. The outdoor seating area offers a spectacular view of the beautiful river which runs through Llangollen. The only downside was the toilets - one of the cubicles has had the door lock ripped off, the floors were wet and they smelled awful. Would definitely return whenever in Llan next but the toilets need a refurb.
