The steak was cooked great and was served with a heaping of garlic butter and peppercorn sauce (the garlic butter is insane) My only downside of the food was the chicken was slightly overcooked but the flavours of the dish and other components were great so balanced it out Staff were on the whole good, welcoming. Knocked a star off because the relaxed environment meant that staff often were talking a lot to the guests and it took a while to get our orders in.

(Originale) We visited Lucy's on a plate on a Sunday for the roast (which was very good) table booked for 5:15pm, we checked the online menu before visiting and saw there was a deal for 3 courses, when we arrived we were given a menu with no starters on, which was fine for us as we just wanted mains and dessert anyway, but for those who would want starters it looks like you would have to ask for this. The staff were by no means rude and were pleasant enough but they weren't exactly friendly or generally welcoming. There was no atmosphere to start with but as more customers entered and chatter filled the room it didn't feel as awkward, could have done with some background music whilst the restaurant filled up. Regardless of this you go to the restaurant for the food which was amazing and well worth the visit! Portion sizes will not leave you feeling hungry, and the quality of the food was great. Food generally came out in good time also, the restaurant was full by the time we left which is always a good sign. Over all we had a good experience but coming from a hospitality background the staff could just be a bit more enthusiastic to be there and create a better atmosphere, perhaps we caught them on a bad day though. Being Japanese, I loved how old Japanese methods were used on untypical ingredients. Lastly, James and Darren (sommelier) chose a few wines for us, and they went perfectly with our meal. The wine pairing would be a good choice at this restaurant. The dishes are spaced with enough time that you wouldn’t have to rush drinking every glass, and their wines are incredible. My mum decided on the courgette and avocado cake (don't know it until you try it), while I chose the coconut, carrot and pineapple cake. Quite a combination of flavours, but they worked very well! I could certainly taste the coconut, along with hints of pineapple. Super moist and delicious from the first bite, right to the very last! I also loved the cutlery we got, which were spades as spoons! Altogether, this came to a little over £16 which I think is fantastic value for money. The service was also great, and the young lady who served us was very pleasant from start to finish. We will, without a doubt, certainly be coming back here when we next visit Ambleside. As a frequent Indian eater we decided to ignore reviews and give it a chance. We eat a wide range of curry’s & have tried many Indian restaurants all over this country and others. In our local area I would have probably rated this 3* as the standards near us are very high & the competition is difficult, however for the lakes area and the lack of curry around here I have based my review more in comparison to the area and other ‘small town’ curry houses I have visited. The Food in photos is the chilli chicken tikka masala and the Naga chicken. Both of these were warming, not the hottest we’ve had but a good heat if you’re used to spicy food, sometimes we’ve had Naga that has just been silly hot. So overall rating the curry’s good 👍🏻 the chicken was fine quality, again had better but definitely far from the worst and still enjoyable! No complaints here on the curry. The sides lacked a little on quality & feedback too for the chef- Bombay potatoes were really sweet and tasty, but personally I like a break apart, tender potato, these were a little hard for my taste, a bit longer cooked & fluffier will be more pleasing for guests. The bread I had the garlic cheese, tasty, super cheesy, a little stodgy which depends again on your taste, personally I don’t mind a little stodgy, but it is heavy & not for everyone. The rice was fine but again a little firm, a bit like microwave rice, but again this was perfectly fine and still enjoyable.
