I actually went to the Encinitas branch with 2 friends about 2 months ago and we were so unhappy with the service that I thought our opinion of the food was due to the staff working during that time.  There are quite a few good reviews so it can't be as bad as we all thought, right? Probably just an off day. So today I decided I was going to try the Escondido branch.  The service at the Escondido branch was awesome, good employee interaction and my takeout order was prompt.  So far it's a win. Flash to home..... Hubby and son: "This is not kare-kare, it's too watery and the taste is bland."  No Filipino dish is bland, we like our salts, our acids, our spices and we don't scrimp on our ingredients except maybe the meat. Is this taste tone down to cater to the westerner's taste buds? Son: "This Salmon sisig taste weird, nothing like any sisig I've ever tasted.  Bell pepper, seriously? Where's that slight heat? Again on the bland side and the fish does not taste fresh.  We're fishermen/women so our taste buds can tell fresh fish from not so fresh. Myself: As for the Gambas, taste was good but I wouldn't suggest anyone order it.  There were 10 pieces of medium shrimp; you know the kind that is just barely bigger than cocktail shrimp, about 41-50 pieces per pound.  At $10. I basically paid $1.00 each shrimp and I could have bought a whole pound at WinCo for less than $10.; cooked it in butter, coconut cream, and garlic and I would have had 40 more shrimps for the same price and have left over butter. Hubby: "I bet these 4 dishes cost you over $50. (which it did.)  What Filipino restaurant sells you $50. worth of food and don't even bother to give you a cup or two of rice?  Ridiculous." So between the 2 branches we've ordered and tasted 10 different dishes, none of the dishes we've tried was in any way a gastronomic delight.  I can critique the rest of the menu but why bother? You get the gist, right?

It is small in space and the tables/seats are so close to each other you hardly have space to back up or walk thru. It took me a while to find it as it was hidden and it looked like a drive thru which I never seen a sushi place have one either. The parking is open but you will need to go around the drive thru to get out because there’s only one entrance/exit. Also, there were flys inside even when the door was closed. I can’t complain about the service because the girl was great.
