What happened during those three days in July 1863 should never be forgotten. The sacrifices the men and women made during the Battle of Gettysburg saved the nation. Our guide’s name was Ed, he has been giving tours at Gettysburg for 41 years. Ed was wonderful! He knows so much and shared so many stories, and stories within stories. An example of Ed’s kindness and caring is how he made extra effort with a member of our four person group who is legally blind. Ed took this person’s hand (he asked first), he shaped his own hand in the form of a fishhook (like the Union forces were formed on the battlefield), he traced my friend’s hand along his hand, and stopped my friend’s finger on the spot on his hand representing the spot we were standing. It was incredible! Ed made the experience one my friend and all of us will never forget. I highly recommend the licensed guided tour to everyone. The guide drives your car around the battlefield, so you can fully immerse yourself in the experience. I’m sure all the guides are excellent, but when making your reservation I recommend you request Ed as your guide.
