This is such an enjoyable way to spend an hour in Bonaire! It cost $9/person and you can drive through the huge park and see the 800+ donkeys! It takes about 1 hour to slowly drive through the sanctuary, but you could easily spend more time here if you brought or bought food for the donkeys. You can get out of the car to pet and feed the donkeys too. The more energetic/ornery donkeys are in a separate area, so we felt very comfortable driving with our windows down and even getting out of the car with our 6-month old daughter. Must visit island with bare bones amenities!
One of the bluest waters I have seen!
20 mins from main island.
Take the water taxis. $25 round trip. Pick up and drop off is every couple hours. 10 am is long snorkel drift option. Last pick up is around 4.
Wonderful place to relax, snorkel and soak up the Sun and Water!
Very few places for shade. But we found a shaded spot that helped with the blazing sun. (Fortunately no cruise ships were in port and it was not crowded.)
Bring your own snacks, lunch, picnic, local rum and goodies.
Hat, sunscreen, cooler with ice, umbrella and coverings are essential. Can rent many things from local shops if in need.
Wish I could live here, possible to camp with permit.
Beautiful colored lizards inhabit here,(don’t feed) and tons of tropical fish call this coral reef their homes.
It can rain any moment and pass.

We took the Caribe water taxi to Klein Bonaire with Captain Frank.
Before docking at the beach, Frank gave us a brief introduction to the island and showed us where to enter the protected reef area. He offered three snorkeling options:
1. Walk from the beach to the reef entry and swim back.

Beautiful place to snorkel. The water was amazing but a bit chilly. We were on an 11 night cruise with Vision of the Seas that traveled to S. America and the ABC Islands. We had to be tendered to the excursion boat, so accessibility may be an issue for some. The excursion company provided all the necessary equipment and had two guides with us at all times. We were here 3 years ago and the fort was open to the public. We were able to climb the tower and go up on the fort. This year it seems it now contains possibly government offices as there is now a gate that prevents tourists from going on the fort anymore. Loved this little beach spot. Great for snorkeling with plenty of parking on their gravel lot. Come early to get one of their few shaded spots for a day at the beach.
This is conveniently located across from the airport. The gravel lot makes it easy for many people to enjoy. And, with two food trucks to choose from, you can easily be here all day.
While I came here for snorkeling the reef one day and lunch on another (at Kite City food truck - highly recommend, cash only), this place is quite an easy place to go. It is kid friendly but if you are wheelchair bound, there is limited availability for you to access the beach with ease.
There are some bathroom facilities but I didn’t use them so I cannot attest to their quality. Ample trash cans and recycling bins make it easy to clean up after yourself. Stop on in to enjoy a relaxing day.

Te Amo beach is a great sandy beach of which there are not many on Bonaire. Therefore you can go here without chairs and lay in the soft sand. Also getting in and out of the water is really easy. You have to pass a harbour inlet to get there and boots pass there regularly. The only downside of the beach is that it is close to the main road and airport and therefore you have some traffic noise and the occasional aircraft arriving or departing. Was doing a side-by-side island tour with my dad and we came across signs for the Cadushy Distillery. I make homemade vanilla extract and love doing distillery tours to find my next alcohol! Entrance was free and everyone that worked there was amazing! We tried different liqueurs, rum, whiskey, gin, vodka, and tequila. Love this place. The red liquor (kukui) goes great with a cola to make an adult cherry coke. The limited edition rum is one of the best sipping rums in my collection. They are a bit secretive on ingredients and aging locations - which seems a bit deceptive and makes me think most of the rum is not aged on the island - but I don't really care. This is one of the easiest entrances because there is a ramp and a railing. I sprained my ankle the day before, so I wanted the extra to support to ease my entrance. We went for a late morning dive and found another group of 4 divers trying to determine if we could park close. We asked a security person who granted us permission to take our gear out closer and then repark the car. This site also has a shower to rinse off. 😀 After the dive, we ate at the restaurant. It was a perfect way to spend time at the surface before our next dive. There were a handful of other snorkelers and we've seen people snorkeling at night with flashlights here too. Sorobon is a great place to stop and grab a drink or enjoy some lunch. We came twice during our visit to Bonaire and had a positive experience both times.
The first time we visited was during a day the cruise ship was in, and so it got quite busy with day tripper’s coming in. We ended up at a spot at the bar “reef bar” for a couple of drinks. It was an easy walk to get to from the main entrance and allowed for a beautiful spot to watch the surfers on the water. The bartenders were really friendly and kind to us and prices were fair.
We decided to come back later that week for lunch. It was our last full day in Bonaire, and a Friday, so we opted to have a table just off the beach to enjoy some lunch and watch the surfers on the water. Mixed impression. The hike and the caves are VERY HOT, get plenty of water. The trail is full of cactus, wear close toed, rugged soled shoes. The area in the caves where you are allowed to visit is very limited and, if you have never been to the caves, it may be ok to visit. However, out of all the caves I've been in the world, these were the least impressive ones. Wet cave is ok, but be careful as you have to be a good swimmer/snorkeller there and climbing the rocks up and down is only for fit people. You MUST visit these caves with the local guide only. In my opinion, this attraction wasn't worth the USD $55 per person fee.

We were so disappointed by this meal. We made reservations so we were sat quickly. Unfortunately our table was one with an obstructed view of the ocean, which kinda stinks. Our waiter could barely understand us (he spoke Spanish). So my husband spoke to him in Spanish but he still got confused about our order. The drinks were obviously not fresh ingredients and that was sad for the cost. They were underwhelming. We are vegetarians so we were excited to go to this restaurant after studying the menu online because they had a poke bowl with smoked tofu. We started with gazpacho.
It was fine but almost tasted like the base of it was V8. It was ok but nothing great. The poke bowl presentation was beautiful! The taste was quite awful. The best part of it was the pickled carrots and the avocado. The rice was not fully cooked and tasteless. The smoked tofu was very out of place with the flavor profile. Neither one of us liked it and we usually love this type of meal. Overall it was a $100 meal that was really not worth the cost.

I have never felt inclined to write a bad review, and am usually extremely understanding when it comes to training new staff, but tonight was inexcusable. Dinner reservations for 7:30. The only thing anyone at the restaurant was attentive to, was refilling our water. Having had a table of four sat behind us, 30 - 45 minutes after us (who were also absolutely loud and insufferable , with nothing but complaints about not only the menu, but the entire island), we were already anxious to get our food and enjoy the rest of our final night on the island. Despite having the same waitress, that table received not only two (apparently awful by their loud comments) appetizers, but also all four of their main dishes before we were ever even acknowledged about ours. At 9:30, with no apologies or even offers for additional drinks during our wait, we felt we had no option but to leave, as we were also not willing to suffer through the conversation of the table who arrived and ordered well after us (let alone having waited to almost two hours after arriving). We spent our final night on the island suffering through loud and unpleasant conversations, and not having a meal at all. By the time we had left, there were no other options available to us even if we wanted to go elsewhere. We've had bad service here several times over the years, but continued to return as the food was decent and the views were great. I have never felt the need to leave a negative review until this experience.

At Sea is an underrated gem, a superb restaurant that greatly exceeded my expectations. I've been to dozens of Michelin starred restaurants around the world, and I think At Sea deserves a Michelin star.
On our first visit, we had the 6-course "Surprise Menu" with the wine pairing. In the US, we're accustomed to seeing this called a "prix fixe" menu, or "omakase" if Japanese. We were certainly pleasantly surprised at every dish! There were actually 3 precourses, various small bites that were all very enjoyable, and paired well with a glass of Champagne. Then the real magic started. Each of the 6 dishes was exquisite — delicious, beautiful, creative, and complex. And each of the 6 wines was thoughtfully paired with the food and complemented it well. And the chef/owner, Jeroen van der Steen, personally came out to serve and explain each dish and wine pairing. It was an amazing experience from start to finish.
Jeroen mentioned that if we were to return and have the Surprise Menu again, every dish and every wine pairing would be different. So we returned two days later, and once again we were surprised and wowed! One standout dish was a ceviche made from locally hand caught lionfish, served with mango and tarragon, perfectly paired with a Verdejo from Rueda. Another standout dish was an incredibly tender sous vide short rib, paired with a very nice Gamay from Régnié in Beaujolais. The progression from light dishes to heavy dishes, then cheese and dessert, was just right. And once again, Jeroen cheerfully served and explained each dish and wine pairing.
There are many restaurants that serve a good multi course prix fixe menu. Few of them have such a thoughtful wine pairing. But nobody we've ever seen before can come up with a completely different menu just for us, the way Jeroen did. And in big cities where one might normally find such an experience, I would expect the price to be far more than the $165 (per person) I paid for 7+ courses with wine pairings.
It was low season on Bonaire, which explains why Jeroen was able to give us so much personal attention. But we think his restaurant is extraordinary, and he deserves to be busier. We didn't order anything off the regular menu, which I'm sure would be a fine experience as well. Wonderful dinner! Great service! We did the 6-course surprise menu to compare it to the 6-course surprise menu at Br*ss B the night before. Although BB had a nicer location (within a resort directly seaside), AtSea was hands down the better meal and it was almost $200 less expensive! Everything was beautifully presented and delicious. They have indoor and patio seating. The only reason for the 4* review for atmosphere is because the shore is across the street and you deal with auto traffic noise if you sit on the patio. This is our favorite restaurant on the island. Don’t miss it!

We feel somewhat bad about this review. The gentleman serving us was fine and attentive and what little we ate was good however, the location is horrible. We sat outside along the street near the cruise and supply shipping dock well, that is why we won't reccomend this place. The constant trucks exiting directly across from the restaurant made our attempted experience miserable, noise, headlights and truck fumes made it unbearable and we left early. If you are ok with this then please still go, the menu impressed us and we wish we could have seen and tried what they had to offer. Couldn't rate the food with only one appetizer before leaving but what we had was good.

This is not a nice place. The casino is one large room, the size of a mid sized ballroom. It is located in the broken down half of a resort, in a shady part of town. When we arrived we thought it was an ambush. There are only 4 gaming tables, 1 Roulette, 2 black jack, 1 three card pocker. This area is absolutely gorgeous, the views from the top of the steps are incredible, the water is so many incredible shades of pretty blues, and if you look close from the top you can spot big blue fish which clean and eat off the coral and reef below! Be prepared if you go down that the only way back up is via the steps as well- you need to be in at least decent shape, or willing to stop and catch your breathe etc. Perfect snorkeling or diving if you're into that. Buddy Dive is summer camp for scuba divers. It caters to new divers and those seeking certification. They are very good on safety briefings and doing a roll call after dives. I wish every dive operator did. Only issue with the briefings is they sometimes scold the divers a little, like kids at camp.
The dive plans run down a reef and turn back at 25-30 minutes, and they are back to the boat by 50 minutes. The last 10 minutes or so are spent killing time under the boat. I think if they see they have an experienced group they should loosen that up a little.
They skimp on surface intervals, which surprised me, doing a second dive usually after about 40 minutes. It’s certainly safe, but not a best practice by any means.
I just finished 2 weeks there as a solo diver and give it good marks overall, but it’s really not for advanced divers. Staff is great, from the shop to the boats to the restaurant people, everyone was polite and attentive. Boats are great, their nitrox tank fills were usually 3200psi, which is great. I did a number of solo shore dives on their house reef and it is very nice, probably the best I’ve been on in the Caribbean. I enjoyed the easy access to shore dives, and with their car and gear I did a few shore dives elsewhere.

Overall a very good experience and I would go back. The hotel and dive set up has things down well. They were waiting for us at the airport, had our luggage at our room before we finished checking in, oriented us to the facilities, dive shop, our truck. Rooms were adequate, nothing special though my only complaints are we couldn't lock the porch doors from the outside and the main door had a large enough gap for a lizard and a roach to sneak into our room. Otherwise, the room was comfortable, AC worked well, great view out the front to the water and pool area.
Breakfast was pretty average hotel continental breakfast with fruits, breads, coffee, buffet style eggs, sausage, etc. We had lunch at Blennies fairly often and the food was decent and usually generous enough portions to have leftovers for lunch the next day especially the club sandwich.
Dive shop was great and had anything you might need. They set up our AI transmitter on their rental regulator as well. The drive through tank station makes getting in and out with fresh tanks a breeze for those motivated to do a lot of diving.
Rental truck was adequate. Drove fine, held all our gear, AC worked. They will loan you a drybox to take the keys with you on a dive.
Diving directly off the shop at the house reef is pretty good and make it a snap to fix anything you might have messed up or needs worked on before you head out to the rest of the island.

Service is friendly and courteous, with small mishaps due to busy- ness of restaurant or shift change. Ticket system for meal plans needs upgrading as it can create confusion and might require you to check your last bill with more attention.
Diving gear is rentable for a day or a week, staff divemasters, instructors, and help were helpful in creating great dive plans, by boat, and offer good feedback for shore diving nearby.

Dive operation: Very good and location directly on its own reef dive spot is excellent. Dimphy, a dive instructor, I worked with was a joy. Very knowledgeable and pleasant.
Restaurants and food: Bit of a mixed bag. Breakfast was very good and staff at breakfast were efficient, cheerful and kind. A great way to start the day. Dinner was mixed - BBQ night was good but pasta night was just OK. I had a cheese burger on last day and that was excellent.
Rooms & Housekeeping: Rooms were basic but clean. Housekeeping seemed very careful.
Front Desk Operations: Significant improvement needed here. Multiple emails and miscommunication's around setting up a late check out. Airport taxi left early and I waited 30 min for another. No apologies and no effort to make it right in some way with expediting transfer in some way. Manager and Asst manager were involved and sad to say I left the resort disappointed and unlikely to return.
