We love attending St Mary’s Cathedral. We don’t always attend this parish weekly because it’s a far drive for us, but we make the effort once a month because of the joy we feel when we are there! If you are looking for a truly beautiful parish the people here - priests and deacons are remarkable. Our adult kids love it here too and prefer it over our closer to home parish. Father Avinash and Rev Dennis are such a blessing to have and we love the sermons, and genuine talks they give after the mass. They make you feel so welcome and at home, like family.

We've visited only once but really want to come back. I was born Catholic in another country, my parents took me to church every Sunday, and I always felt a little alienated in church my entire childhood. Not from God (never for a second), but from the church and the Catholic community there. Coming here to St. Mary's Cathedral was an entirely different feeling. It was warm and welcoming, not pushy (like some churches can be, in my experience), the atmosphere was calm, kind, and very positive, and the choir was beyond beautiful. I’m writing this review with respect and concern as a regular visitor of the temple. Temples are meant to be peaceful and sacred spaces where people come to pray, reflect, and seek spiritual connection. Unfortunately, my recent experiences at the Hindu Society Temple have been disappointing.
The Pandit ji is often seen using his phone or wearing AirPods even while people are meditating and sitting quietly.This is quite distracting and goes against the big signs posted inside the temple clearly stating: “Silence Please. No Cellphones.” It’s upsetting to see those rules not being followed by the very people responsible for maintaining the sanctity of the space.
On Monday, July 14th, the first day of the holy Savan month, I visited the temple to seek blessings. To my surprise, there were a group of government representatives or public officials (possibly MPs or MLAs) standing in the middle of the temple, loudly laughing and talking. It felt more like a social gathering than a place of worship. This kind of behavior is highly inappropriate in a temple setting.
I strongly feel that the management needs to take these matters seriously. Either changes should be made, or appropriate actions must be taken to ensure that the temple remains a respectful, calm, and spiritual place for all devotees.
I hope this feedback helps bring some much-needed attention and improvement.

I went to mandir today on the special day of Diwali and I literally got shocked when I saw the mandir that there was no decorations at all. There was not even a single lamp outside, No flowers decorations, no sparkling lights , nothing at main gate or on top of the mandir NOTHING AT ALL! It was so dark and it looked like the mandir is closed and I went in the evening around 7 PM and I literally got surprised when I saw this as Diwali is the biggest Hindu festival that is the festival of light so what’s the point of having no lights in the mandir outside the mandir like people even decorate their houses for Diwali because it’s that special but in the temple, there was not even a single light outside and I want to ask management that if they if cannot do that or if they’re expecting a yajman for this simple task, which is supposed to be done by management. If you cannot do this, please let the devotes know about that so that we all can contribute and come together to celebrate our everyone’s special Hindu festival Deepavali. And it’s not only my concern everyone else was also talking about the same thing what the festival feels for us and and also I visited like thousands of temples and I’ve never seen in any temple where Diwali is like so dull and it doesn’t even look like a festival, there it was like just a normal day in our temple. IT IS REALLY A SHAMEFUL THING FOR MANAGEMENT.

This church is unconventional, compared to religious practices that I was exposed to before. Somehow I felt called to come here. The community was warm and respectful, welcoming, but not in an intrusive way. You can do everything at your own pace. Nothing is forced on you, which I appreciated greatly. Finally I’ve found a church that my thoughts around Christianity and Culture feel at home and safe with. Sermons are very thought provoking. The language is beautiful and some times a bit grand and obviously written much more like hearing an essay than someone chatting with you in the moment but I suppose God is equally eloquent and intellectual. The message always comes back to a humble acceptance of God’s grace and Divine mysterious but beautiful leading in our lives. The orthodox traditions are very different to me coming from a Pentecostal/evangelical background but interested to observe and learn from. Worship feels humble and familiar. I do miss holding my hands high in the air to God but maybe just sit in the back pews. I wish there were parishes in the deep south. Hopefully we will get connected to a group one of these days. It’s been hard to find an open one. The progressive views of the church on inclusion and acceptance 🏳️🌈 🏳️⚧️ and embrace of social justice ideas (which to me seem very close to Christ’s heart) is paramount.

A few years ago, I was taking a walk by this church where my grandmother would take me as I child. I saw some garbage laying on the ground beside it. Once I was finished picking up the trash, I disposed of it into garbage bin behind the church. The gentleman was kind and welcomed me as a new person and also offered a token of hospitality. Mashallah the Sufi spirit was felt through the kindness and thoughtfulness during my very short visit. This church has been a big part of my life for many years. As a person with a Latin Catholic family, this church became our regular place to go. My entire family plays their role in helping run the masses.
The Spanish' masses are very lively, in the hymns and songs to the homilies. The songs played are very enjoyable, and, as an added bonus, snacks are sometimes served after mass 😉

I have lived many lives, and I have walked in and out of many churches, with different denominations. I was always left drained, lonely, judged, and built many walls between myself and God and the Church. I stepped through the doors of Truth Church and instantly felt the presence of God and just KNEW this was where I needed to be to rekindle my faith. I’ve been to many churches and when I walked into Connect it was the first time I actually felt at home.
The worship is incredible, Pastor Dan takes his knowledge of the Bible and shares it in a way that is applicable for everyone, and my kids have an amazing time in kids church.

My family and I recently moved from Ontario to Calgary AB. And we needed to find a new home church. We went to a lot of churches as we searched, and we kept coming back to Connect.
It’s a wonderful church. We love the sermons, always very clear & relatable with a strong biblical foundation. We also love the strong sense of community and fellowship there. It literally fulls with wonderful, warm welcoming and loving people! Our son also loves the youth group. This is important for us because we want him to grow in Christ and have a great fellowship as well.

I have been coming for the last 5years ish and TRULY it has been one the greatest gift God has given to me. I found my relationship to Jesus through connect, I met my wife through connect, I’ve been apart of many groups and have led groups that have been so amazing. I was visiting Calgary from Halifax, Nova Scotia and my minister from the Bethany United Church recommended Hillhurst. I went with a friend and really loved the church. Very welcoming congregational members, a beautiful church , and great services. I was especially happy to see the rainbow permanently incorporated into the church. When coming from Toronto a year ago, I was looking for a church that not only believed in the bible and the gifts of the spirit, but had genuine love in it. No one’s perfect and we all have sinned. It’s not about getting right with God or getting right in your life before coming to church. You come to church in the midst of your brokenness to encounter His love. That love is truly felt when you come to this church. The worship music is great and the congregation is multicultural. The church is also transparent with its finances, providing hard copies of the year’s financial statements to all those who request it and hold an annual general meeting yearly with its members. There is free parking available on Sundays and is wheelchair accessible. The wheelchair entrance is at the back of the building. There are groups for various age groups. Children, youth, young adults, 50+ and seniors. I encourage anyone reading this to come and check it out!

No church is perfect, but this is my church and I adore it. We LOVE Jesus and do our best to fellowship with one another, and edifiy each other in a manner Jesus would approve of! Its big but not too big. Don't be scared to come for prayer at the end of service, we have an amazing prayer team . People do get healed, set free, and miracles still happen.
It can be easy to get lost in the hustle bustle and many new faces constantly, but I encourage you to say hi to someone and talk to them . When you press in even the slightest bit you will find these are real people, and will welcome you and direct you as best as they can. There's a lot of hidden gems but I would say the prayer team is one of the most underrated. Also there is a lot of great mentors and teachers here, just ask if you need to talk to someone ! I'm fully confident that God will direct you to find what your looking for.

Love, love , love this church family! I’ve never felt so welcomed in a church. The people are open, friendly and truly care about the well being of one another. They come from all walks of life, are all ages and they know how to have FUN!!! The pastor is an awesome shepherdess with a heart for Jesus and a great sense of humour. She lovingly refers to us as a clump rather than a flock (could be because we’re also a tad quirky). AND, the praise and worship teams are the tops! I have had the privilege of raising my 3 boys (15,10 & 9) in this amazing church! The Sunday School teachers are awesome and SO loving. My boys look forward to going every week. My oldest boy is 15 and loves going to Friday Night Youth. They play games like basketball in the full size gym, eat supper together and do a time of worship and bible study. Wonderful church! If you’re looking for a place where you’re welcomed right away, this is it! Warm, friendly atmosphere and amazing people that make you feel like family. A small enough church that you feel like you know everyone, but large enough that you don’t feel singled out. They have lots of small groups! Something for everyone. The Sunday school teachers are over the top and really make the children feel welcome. It’s so much easier to leave your children with teachers when the kids are excited to go!
They do a lot of community outreach and are partners in running a free give away every Saturday of food, clothing and household goods. It’s so nice to see a church that is truly giving to the community.
The Pastor is truly gifted, both in her preaching and in making you feel so at home. She goes out of her way to make sure everyone is doing well, and if she knows of a need, she addresses it to the best of her ability.
They have several worship teams on a rotating schedule so there’s music everyone can enjoy. From old hymns to newer stuff you might hear on ShineFM.
Truly a wonderful church. I feel so blessed to have found them.

She and her son's Father tried to talk to this community leader but he was very judgemental and just talked about my sister needed to be "accountable"...well who is the community leader accountable to? The pastor overseeing him, but no one is interested in setting things right or asking her son, what steps he has made toward reconcilliation. So if you have trouble with a community leader or a bible study leader or you know they have known "sin" in their life, I would try to tell the pastor in charge, but I would go directly to that person as this situation has cause so much pain to my sister and her son's Dad...that we have to involve the police and likely sue this community leader since he won't stop. It is something that everyone needs to know about and be warned about as there are so called "leaders" that are not following the "Lord's ways" to create reconciliation. As a result of this, my nephew is getting married but his own Mother is no invited, instead he has been very "cruel" towards her, and no one is thinking how this will be dragged into his new marriage. The Father is left to go alone and when asked why his own son's Mother isn't there, he is left to say " Well, my son wouldn't forgive her, so she is not allowed to come." Really horrible. Be careful at Centre Street Church there is corruption everywhere you go, not just here, but especially at large churches where there is little or no supervision of leaders that are volunteers. Wonderful Parish, great sermons and a devoted children’s Choir. The choir coordinator is very passionate, the music stirs deep emotions and often brings me tears and reassurance in the faith and our hope of glory. The pews have gradually filled up again post pandemic and it completely feels like a family of people who love God truly.

I have found St. Paul’s to be a very welcoming and loving church fellowship. There are so many ways I could choose to be involved and feel part of the community fairly quickly.
