The welcome on arrival was lovely. The room and bathroom extremely clean and fresh. Room service was also excellent. The breakfast and service as good as any big name 4 star hotel. I wasn’t the most impressed by the town itself but enjoyed the cosiness of Cairn House. The room was spacious, bed comfy, lots of space to put belongings and had 2 lovely seats by the window. Parking was directly outside (reasonable price for the day). Great location - right by the harbour. Has a café and shop near the entrance. Staff were really helpful and informative - thanks Dan! As it was a weekday afternoon, no need to queue. Yes, it's a small aquarium compared to other businesses but this one is local, has the full story of each environment. We were in there for over two hours mesmerised. We could have easily sat and watched the fish, rays, octopus etc for longer but it was coming close to closing time. The location is good right by the harbour but that is part of the problem. We had a terrible night's sleep due to the near constant noise in the location. The rooms were basic but at least clean but more akin to the feel of hostel accommodation. Certainly not worth anywhere near the £118 / night for room only that we paid.
